anyways. the big canon divergence in her timeline is that she becomes champion of kralkatorrik after the departing, making a mess of everything, but things actually started deviating a lot earlier. it takes them longer to get to the bitter harvest for various plot reasons (they get, uh, sidetracked), and in that time mordremoth fully (and forcefully) bonds trahearne to himself as his champion. he basically comes to the conclusion that it would be catastrophic for pact morale and the future of the sylvari for the world to see him wholly subsumed by mordremoth, and that mordremoth probably wants him to fight against the commander when her and her team make their way into his clutches, so he claws his way out of his nest and runs into the woods, hoping to never be seen again.

yuzu and friends find bitter harvest empty, with no sign of trahearne. canach volunteers himself in his place, wanting to prove himself reformed. he climbs into the mess of floral viscera that trahearne left behind, opens up his mind to the dragon after weeks of pounding, and allows them into the dream. their version of the fight really is a migraine and a half. this puts canach out of commission for a good year or so as he recovers from the psychological ordeal, meaning that he’s not assisting the shining blade— and neither is yuzu, because she’s in the heart of maguuma trying to find trahearne. (when she does find him, it doesn’t go well). the krytan civil war gets stretched out and has more casualties, and yuzu is absent from almost all of it because the rest of her fixation in season three is entirely on primordus and jormag.

this also means that path of fire is ultimately just yuzu and rytlock, because canach is trying to get his footing again, and kasmeer stays behind in divinity’s reach to run support for the queen (her crisis of faith is wrecking her but she’s instead throwing herself into the war). as you can imagine, only having rytlock in your party as your single voice of reason in the fight against balthazar does not lend itself to the most sensible decision making, and they don’t have a mesmer in the group to facilitate the canon plans with impersonating archon iberu, and so really can you blame her for going to the big guy for help—

to be honest thats a character i’ve been floating around for about a year now and only just now has inspiration really struck. i’ve already got the rough bones of a character playlist and everything

the state of my commander stuff is disastrous. i normally just play through story on siya in a party with saint’s commander but on my side we’ve got:

— failwoman who continues messing up the plot so badly that her universe is collapsing in on itself. goes wildly divergent back in LWS3 so now every expansion we move farther away from any canon plot resemblance

— guy who theoretically COULD’VE been the commander at some point in some alternate timeline and could probably run through canon better than khismat but like, the entire point is that he fundamentally Isn’t The Hero. so i don’t want to do real commander stuff on him

— the quaggan. actually good at the job. does everything the way they’re supposed to. can’t really play through most of the story on them because they’re a quaggan.

the best thing about siya sharing a canon with my partner’s commander is that i never have to figure out commander and/or wayfinder stuff. unfortunately that means i’ve put zero thought into figuring out what timeline stuff is relevant for khismat post-IBS because that’s around the point her canon divergence goes off the rails

me, trying to figure out what is going on with soo-won and cantha in this setup. to say nothing of the wizards. at what point do i give up

Currently Watching: I just saw Nimona the other night with my roommate! And I’m currently rewatching Riverdale which is, as always, iconic and beyond reproach.

Currently Reading: My beach read has been Brian Evenson’s short story collection The Wavering Knife and I cannot stop thinking about it. It’s the kind of literary work that eats me alive.

Currently Obsessed With:

1) I got back into home bartending after like, seven months of not really drinking— I’m a wizard and I’m Making Potions. Thinking about picking up a bottle of passion fruit liqueur with my next paycheck.

2) Guild Wars 2 as a general concept, but you already know that. So like, specific recent fixation: I have a really, really, really big soft spot for Steel warband, and the last couple days I’ve been thinking a lot about Nicabar? I’ve been rotating an idea in my brain that’s like… Nica as some degree of Frost Legion, thinking about his experimentation with eternal ice shards and how that could develop into production of tonics of icebrood corruption. It’s a fun space to play around with because of how he’s physically absent during DWC, but I’m still figuring out how I want to do it.

2.5) Also the Khismat and Trahearne brainworms never go away, really. They’re so divorced. Worst trammander ship ever.

3) I am once again thinking about running a Changeling the Lost campaign despite having no ideas and no time to be a GM. Send help.

been thinking about what my commander looks like before and after being corrupted by kralkatorrik. she’s cute and it’s kind of a shame that LWS2-POF did a number on her emotionally

also becoming a dragon champion gave her horns and a tail because i said so

my favorite khismat fun fact (not that i’ve shared a lot of those yet) is that her hammer is actually her old rifle, branded over from when she became champion, being held by its barrel. she just swings it around like a big magical lightning conduit
