@islandiis liked for a starter !! (it’s been so long i am so sorry)
[ nana is looking him over. squinting. and then a little curl twists her lip! ] Dearie, have you ever had... khatchapuri? [ and then she plunks down a hefty, boat-shaped bread with a sea of cheese and an egg in the middle in front of him! this is her introductory montage. ] Do you know how to eat this?

If you are in a place with a large Georgian (or Eastern Armenian —khatchapuri is also eaten in northern Armenia, what with being right by Georgia) community that has Georgian(/Hayastantsi) bakeries, go get yourself some khatchapuri. It’s so freaking good.

Made my first khatchapuri tonight in a bake fest with @ibecomeeclectic. This is Georgian cheese bread, a yeasty dough enclosing a mix of 3 cheeses, a perfectly cooked egg and a little butter for good measure. . #baking #baker #gaybaking #gaybaker #khatchapuri #georgian #georgianfood #egg #cheese #dough #bread (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDK-ALLD5GP/?igshid=6t5vat9cllt

失敗したKhatchapuri
I used to know someone from Georgia. He was into adventure sports and seemed to be a very cool person.
I wanted to be his friend so bad, that one time when he told me that “umbrella doesn’t work in the rain, I prefer raincoat”, I nodded and said “true true”.
Guys, I only use umbrella.

According to people in the reblogs bun topped with cheese is canon but idea! Suggestion! (Because I cannot bear the thought of the cheese buns just being bread with a sprinkling of scorched cheese on top ugh) What if the cheese buns are some sort of evolution of khatchapuri? If you are not fortunate enough to have ever tried it it looks like this:

and it is HEAVENLY. Traditionally, it looks like that little boat shape and has an egg, but considering the current price of eggs and District 12's economic state I can see it being modified in a post-apocalyptic future. This also matches the description @thesweetnessofspring provided which is "layer of cheese baked into the top." Am I just making something up because I care too much about this fictional food being good? Yes. Is that going to stop me from accepting this as my new canon? Nope.
Okay I need to know the consensus…

Italy is really nice. Sort of like a knockoff Georgia. They have a kind of khatchapuri called “pizza” and make a cheese like sulguni the locals call “mozzarella”. Highly recommended!

They’re essentially extra large soup dumplings and are so delicious! 🤤😋
Unfortunately, it’s not like khatchapuri which has majorly crossed over into Eastern Armenian cuisine and I could get it at a Hayastantsi bakery in, for example, Glendale so I’ve no clue where to go for khinkali in the US.
