I'm up creating content, ideas, concepts on my desktop. This one is called " The wizard of Odd, 2020". Dorothy is prepared for the covid pandemic staying 6 feet away ( spraying lysol, wearing a mask and carrying purell) but has a new cast of characters in her life like Liono from thundercats, Cybor from teen titans and scarecrow one of batman's enemies. I've seen alot of racism clothed in Coronavirus fear and this image came to my mind. Even the the grafitti style words of "there's no place like home" also a new meaning nowadays. Don't know if I'll make it into a painting but, I have several ideas that might, I'm just sharing with you some of my process of creativity. From big paintings to small paintings I'm continuesly creating. I told my wife @khaliqart , that "I have these ideas, images, concepts, Letters in my head that have to come out" . Sometimes I'll watch a lot of documentaries on famous and non famous artists and get inspired by thier work ethic, sometimes by their clothing but most importantly is what motivates them and their discipline as an artists. .... Watching the Documentary about George Condo and he said “I love drawing as much as painting, so why not make your paintings from your drawings, but literally have there be no defined sort of hierarchy between the two mediums?.” So I started to paint the drawings that I had on various pieces of paper, I had hidden in my house. I stay getting inspired from older and younger artists of today and yesterday. .... Summary of painting: During this month of Ramadhan we fast from sun up to sundown and we're usually up at 4am preparing our Suhoor meal to begin our fast and the idea of being " awake" when most people are sleep made me understand the idea of being consciously existing while other people are unconsciously existing. The whole idea of being "woke" during this time of " Covid19" makes me see things differently since I'm fasting and absorbing spiritual education through reading my Qur'an daily. In Al Islam, Adam is seen as slipping, tripping or becoming "unbalanced" when he is in the garden, which means he became more of something and less of something else, he became unbalanced, unorganized in his way of thinking and satan ( a deceptive entity) was able to trick him or manipulate him because he was caught off gaurd. In this painting I'm creating a since for the viewers to become more balanced in thier thinking and not become extreme when it comes to this pandemic and all the atrocities that come with it. There are many "words" in this painting as in alot of my paintings that create thought and pondering for the viewer and that's part of what I want to convey in this piece. . . . Finished my piece entitled "The Astro-Naut" Size 26in x 30 in Mixed media: Acrylics, paper, marker on wood. Free delivery in 5 boroughs. Price: DM me. This idea germinated when I saw a wood crate top that was left on the sidewalk and I saw an automatic framed art piece in my head. As I kept looking at the wood grooves and color I saw patterns and other images on top of the patterns. .... The piece is connected to my early childhood watching early mecha anime cartoons on a black and white TV in Harlem back in the day. My brothers and I would watch shows like Cyborg 009, Raideen and Gigantor and feel that we could fly. This piece is supposed to do the same for the viewer. The back drop being the Afro-naut head with his helmet, Gazelle spex and helmet, looking onward. I was asked by a potential buyer to show the faces up close to show the texture of each face. Each face has it's own unique feel to it and expression. One face is made from the rough side of leather another from a piece of magazine paper, others from oil paint, oil stick and acrylics. I wanted to show different faces in different mediums but using black as the color that joined them together. . Whenever I would look at paintings by @kerryjamesmarshs or Basquiat, I would always get real close to the painting to see the texture and to see the brush strokes or how they glued materials to the canvas.
