Finished my piece entitled "The Astro-Naut" Size 26in x 30 in Mixed media: Acrylics, paper, marker on wood. Free delivery in 5 boroughs. Price: DM me. This idea germinated when I saw a wood crate top that was left on the sidewalk and I saw an automatic framed art piece in my head. As I kept looking at the wood grooves and color I saw patterns and other images on top of the patterns. .... The piece is connected to my early childhood watching early mecha anime cartoons on a black and white TV in Harlem back in the day. My brothers and I would watch shows like Cyborg 009, Raideen and Gigantor and feel that we could fly. This piece is supposed to do the same for the viewer. The back drop being the Afro-naut head with his helmet, Gazelle spex and helmet, looking onward. Photo of Kha-tees logo tags. As an artist I want to be as diverse as Keith Haring was with how he created. His work went from subway walls to a full retail "Pop Store". His ability to move between High and Low art ( I hate those terms) made him able to connect to various demographics. Keith Harings work during his lifetime was seen on handball courts in Harlem, Museums in France and Tshirts in SoHo. Short Summary of painting - As a Muslim, we have various positions in prayer but the only position where we recite words from the Qur'an is in The standing position (Qiyam) and for me its symbolic of how we are to live our way of life. We should be upright, straight forward, honest, upstanding citizens living our best life while speaking the word of G-d. . I also used the @fearofgod company logo to play on the idea that one day it will be fashionable to be conscious of G-d.
