Finished this up whilst watching George's stream.
Valexi (my Durge) & Pip (his pact of chain Imp)!!!
Also, I got to do some research on Great Old One patrons and thought Kezef the Chaos Hound would be fitting since both he and Bhaal have a black skull motif.

Hi, saw your Archfey warlock headcanons and since I made a foul mouthed elven durge who was a great old one warlock can I have some headcanons for Astarion x Great Old One Warlock? Wrote that the eldritch patron relies on her making blood offerings for their pact.
I am playing the Great Old One Warlock in one the DnD campaigns and I am a sucker for Lovecraftian Horror! Couldn't resist to write it!
There is a list o Great Old Ones you can choose as your patron. Ghaunadaur, Dendar, Zargon, Kezef, Moander. All equally ancient, evil and insane.
Masterlist
Headcanons
Astarion x Great Old One Warlock!Tav
Your patron is a mysterious entity whose nature is completely alien to the fabric of reality.
Unkillable and utterly insane.
An eldritch abomination.
You have been cursed with the pact when you were a child.
Something saved your life and made you a warlock.
Erasing your memories in the process.
You have no idea who your patron is.
What is the price of your abilities?
And what will happen to you once you are in debt?
You were cast away from your home.
"You reek of unimaginable horrors," the elders said. "Begone!"
You want to suppress your magic, you don't want to use it.
But here and there you have to protect yourself.
And the creature you belong to grants more and more spells for you to use.
Phantasmal Force, Dominate Person, Summon Aberrations...
In exchange, you lose your sanity.
The madness grasps your mind and forces you to do awful things - murdering, torturing, and using the most disgusting spells on people you love.
By the time you are kidnapped, you've become a hermit, barely speaking to anyone for ages.
"You have this aura of desperation," Astarion notices, trying to get past your guard.
"No way," you bitterly chuckle.
But you like having someone by your side, to forget madness at least for a night.
The patron casts nightmares upon you forcing you to see the Abyss and dimensions so terrifying a mortal mind can't apprehend it.
One night you wake up restrained in Astarion's tent.
The vampire looks terrible, he has burns and bruises, and his hand is broken.
You attacked him in your madness and he barely survived.
"Now you tell me everything. Everything you know," he orders.
You want a break-up. You can't let him die from your hands. He won't become a sacrifice to your evil master.
He brushes it all off. He will help you. You are in this together.
But you need to find who is your master.
Astarion teaches you Abyssal - the language of the evil deities and demons of the Abyss.
"I actually was thinking to summon one of those evil bastards to set myself free. But the language is so profane and cursed I never dared to use it."
You fear to see your master. You have been looking for answers all your life but you know you won't like them.
You make a treaty with Rafael to betray the Emperor but once you try to sign the papers with your blood, the devil refuses to keep the deal.
"You are already bound with the force I don't want to have anything in common. Cazador's profane ritual is just fae magic in comparison with your servitude."
But you can't allow the Emperor to control the Absolute.
You summon your patron, spewing words in Abyssal.
The world around you disappears.
You are floating in the primal darkness.
And you finally see it.
Your master.
Zargon.
The Devourer in the Depths, the Invincible Tyrant.
You aren't told the reasons, the purpose. It's all beyond your comprehension.
You are given the powers to save the world from Mindflayers, but it comes with a price.
Zargon the Returner is back to the Prime.
With you as its loyal devotee and priest.
You lose yourself to madness.
You remember who you are. Who you were. But there is nothing left of the person Astarion fell in love with.
You are someone utterly evil, someone he can't even recognize.
"Are you even the one I loved?"
You force him to stay with you. You can do it as Zargon's warlock.
You stripe Astarion of his freedom, his free will, making him your consort and forcing him to see the horrors you at your patron's orders.
He runs away. At least once a year. You let him do it before sending one of your slaves after him.
"It's not real you. It's not you"
Decades pass and the cult of Zargon spreads through Faerun with its unholy rituals.
Astarion still hopes the person you once was is locked somewhere. He just needs to set you free.
Even if it means challenging the Great Old One.

'...the Realms does have various legends and bards' fireside scare-tales about cowled, skeletal figures who wield scythes, in part because of Jergal (whose servants used to appear to mortals in this guise) [...] Now, Jergal IS still around, and can send his cowled reapers as silently-gliding, intangible apparitions as either harbingers of death, warnings, or (when certain tombs are breached) as actual "monster" foes (your chance to use the Entropic Reaver).'
The entropic reaver is a grim reaper type monster that haunts the material plane, happily attacking and murdering people it thinks deserves death (which is pretty much everybody). The blade of its scythe causes living flesh to boil and melt away causing searing pain that eats away at their minds as they blindly begin to attack people around them indiscriminately until they finally fade into nothing (which makes it difficult to resurrect them).
I've decided that the next time I play BG3 I'm going to spend a decent amount of time in camp throwing rocks at Withers. Maybe bottles of water, as the closest I can get to spritzing him.
Kezef; the Dead Three; These: Just Stop. Creating. Horrors.
But also keep going, because it's funny how terrible you are.

Tyr
Grimjaws, the Maimed God, the Evenhanded
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tyr Grimjaws, Tyr the Evenhanded, Wounded Tyr, the Maimed God, the Blind, Blind Tyr, the Lord of Justice all of these names speak to the nature of the Faerunian god of justice. Tyr appears as a noble warrior missing his right hand, which he lost to Kezef the Chaos Hound in an act of bravery and sacrifice, and with his eyes wrapped in cloth to signify his blindness, caused by a wound dealt to him by Ao when he questioned the justice of the Overgod's actions.
Tyr's followers devote themselves to the cause of justice, to the righting of wrongs and the deliverance of vengeance. This devotion isn't necessarily concerned with equality or fairness, but rather the discovery of truth and the punishment of the guilty. Those who favour Tyr tend to be stiff-necked about matters of theology and laws, seeing things in terms of black and white. Tyr's credo of lawfulness and honesty is a demanding one, and his priests remind the faithful not to hold in contempt others who can't live by it- it wouldn't be an honourable calling if everyone could muster the strength of will to follow it.
Many orders of knighthood are devoted to Tyr, including the Knights of Holy Judgment and the Knights of the Merciful Sword. Such knights-as well as judges and priests, clerics, and paladins who worship Tyr- sometimes wear thin strips of diaphanous cloth over their eyes to remind others of the blindness of justice.

I will polish this up later. For now, here are some bullet points on Aylin’s post-canon activities. Probably take place over the course of 20-ish years? These are not closed events; I’m open to other people’s characters being involved if they wish!
Part One.
The threat attacking Selûnite enclaves that Aylin is hunting in the immediate aftermath of the game is an agent of Mask. He’s taken a leaf from his mother’s book and hopes to absorb Aylin’s power to grow his own so he can reclaim the portfolio of intrigue from Cyric.
He plays the long game, so he’s fucking with Aylin over a period of years while she’s ignorant of who’s truly behind it all.
Meanwhile, she works on rebuilding Moonhaven + the Swords of the Lady, and supports Isobel in rebuilding Reithwin.
She becomes close with the head of the Selûnite temple in Moonhaven, as one would expect. This cleric begins researching the soul cage in the hopes of protecting Aylin from it. Aylin is aware of this.
Mask has been steadily wearing Aylin down, though, and is finally able to prey on her traumas to make her turn on the cleric. Makes her believe the cleric intends to cage her.
This leads Aylin to slay the cleric, thus breaking her oath and becoming riddled with guilt + grief. The Silverlight shatters in her hands.
She then excommunicates herself from Selûne / her worshippers, and leaves on a quest to seek the Oathbreaker Knight. She hopes he will guide her toward atonement and reforging her oath.
Part Two.
She finds the Oathbreaker Knight — or believes she does. It’s actually Mask masquerading as him.
He tells her that 12 of her body parts, originally harvested by Balthazar, have fallen into other hands and must be reclaimed by her. I’m thinking heart, lungs, liver, womb, tongue, intestines, stomach, eyes, ears, kidneys, and skin (flayed from the whole body). I’ll decide the specifics of these quests later.
He also reforges the Silverlight for her. What he of course does not tell her is he’d reclaimed, at cost, the pieces of the Godsbane and combined them with the shattered Silverlight. (I’ll name this blade later.)
Unbeknownst to her, any being slain with this blade has their soul or essence consumed by him, as was the case with Godsbane. It also slowly corrupts her, as was the case with Godsbane.
I think, too, he feigns helping her lay her reclaimed body parts to rest but actually consumes them to absorb the power therein.
Part Three.
Selûne doesn’t just let this shit happen, though.
Aylin excommunicating herself in shame combined with Masks’s interference has made it difficult for her to reach her daughter, but that doesn’t mean she stops trying. I haven’t decided how she tries to reach her, though? Problem for future me.
End result is Mask screwed himself over by consuming those pieces of Aylin. When she confronts Mask, they rebel against him.
This allows her to wrest the Houndsbane from him. She does not unmake Mask, but Kezef has now resumed his pursuit of the god, and he must eternally flee the hound. He won’t trouble Aylin for a good long while.
I think this should also allow Aylin to undergo apotheosis. What he deceived Aylin into giving him was reclaimed by her, now drenched in his divine essence. This would logically make her divine as well.
This has been her lifelong goal, but I’m on the fence as to whether she’d accept it in the end.

Do all the gods remain on mount celestia? Are there gods that wander the material plane, or other planes?
Most good-aligned gods make their home on Mount Celestia. Those who don’t see eye-to-eye with Pelor often choose to wander. Bane, as well as most goblinoid deities, for instance, reside in Acheron. Shar and Kelemvor keep their temples in the Shadowfell. Mask tends to keep to himself, seeking new treasures and continuing to evade Kezef. It all depends on preference.

Forgive me for ranting about my own dnd character but
Rojo Lorde
My scarlet macaw aarakocra abjuration wizard. A late game new character after he last one was vaporized in an explosion (maybe I'll write about him next).
Outwardly, he was confident and competent. A master abjurist and war mage. He was capable of throwing an entire army into dissaray, dogfighting with shadowfell dragons, and producing a magical bombardment so throrough he held down Kezef the Chaos Hound for a full minute.
Inwardly, however, how could he do any less? "As much as he possibly can" is the bare minimum. A given. Why else would anyone want him? He'd never consciously thought it through, but his whole life is pervaded by an underlying sense of just barely being worth having along.
So it all ends up looking like he's showing off. Of course I can make tuning forks for planeshift. Of course I can recast simulacrum, two wizards can do twice as much! Of course I can hold off the gods-be-damned Chaos Hound. Don't take too long! :)

Elvira Fairwind
Age: 26
Race: half-drow
Class: great old one warlock of Kezef
Gender: demigirl (she/they)
Sexuality: demisexual panromantic
cw for sexual assault and abuse
Elvira and her twin Kreza were separated at birth. While their mother was happy with the skin tone of her son, her daughter looked far too human, despite the cool undertone to her pale skin. So, while she kept Kreza for herself, she found a deep regret in the girl, and so she sent her to the surface, having the baby dropped off at the home of the human man her House had kept for some time.
Giovanni Fairwind was not too happy to see he’d sired a child with the drow woman. Even if there were some that wandered freely in Luskan, the girl would always be a mark of his servitude and shame.
He named her Elvira and raised her all the same, though with a sense of resentment. If she was going to be his child in the eyes of the law, she would have to excel. She was no wizard prodigy, nothing particularly close, but he kept her enrolled in schools not only to keep her out of his sight, but also to make her the best she could be, so she could rule over them all one day.
She was taken in by a great mage in Luskan, one who decided that she was a worthy student and apprentice. They spent their time aiding his research and manning his large arcane library when it was open to the public. But soon, the honeymoon phase ended, and he turned cruel, beating them but also using them sexually. She wasn’t all that important, was she? Her father had wanted her gone so badly that he paid strangers to take her, and her mother never cared. That entitled him to do as he wished. In fear and anger, Elvira struck a match and burned the tower to the ground with the wizard inside. She ran as far as she could, back to her father. Even though she begged for his help, and he believed her that she’d been taken advantage of and felt sorry for his own actions to cause it, he could not help her.
Elvira had nowhere to turn. Not until she remembered a summoning that her master had told her never to do. She called on Kezef the chaos hound, and it appeared before her. After it had sniffed them to assess they were not food and after they explained their situation, they pressed a massive paw to her back. She was imbued with warlock magic and a deep hunger within. One that ever so subtly gnawed no matter what.
She survived Luskan and headed out on her own, exploring and adventuring, meeting other spellcasters. Since her pact, she has grown thinner and more gaunt. She is starving. She too must devour.

20 21 44 58 stras >:) and for aeon as well if they havent been answered
20. which of the five senses do they rely the most on?
stras relies on sound the most. his vision and smell are hampered by his mask, he doesn't touch things, and taste doesn't make sense so. yeah. sound. he's also just. very much someone who listens very intently to what others say, if only so he can decipher it for information, but usually because he cares and wants to be polite
aeon relies on sight. he has very good vision and observational skills, and is steadily growing to love to snoop. plus he needs to see all the flowers he grows and careful carving patterns he does!!!
21. do they follow their head, their heart, or their body?
stras follows all three. i know thats a copout, but to him, its all the same. in his own words, he has dedicated all three in entirety to kezef, and theyve all changed because of it- and he views this as a good thing only. to actually answer though, its absolutely his heart. love drives him.
aeon used to follow their body, even if they dont like it. aeon's physicality and size matters for everything they do and think of, and its smth theyre constantly aware of. especially now that their body is going through fucking Mushroom Time. they know they have to be careful and consider whats going on with it and follow it the best they can
44. what do they need to learn?
stras needs to learn to trust people. not everyone needs to be calculated as a threat. he needs to learn that he does not always know best, that he is often wrong. and most importantly. he needs to learn that he can be open and honest without always worrying how it could be used against him
aeon needs to learn that theyre ok. theyre just living. they cant keep focusing on their regrets and heartaches. they can move on, and stop feeling like she's the only one that will ever see him like that. they need to learn that despite everything. they are alive. they will keep living. and thats ok
58. what do they think their role in the party is? what is their role in actuality?
stras thinks he is the one person who sees everyone for who they really are. the master manipulator, the mastermind, the one who knows all. etc. in reality he's an evasion tank who loves to paint a target on his back, even amongst his allies
aeon thought they were the muscle. the big guy. now with uo doing their job but better, they. dont know what theyre here for. in reality theyre fucking incredible at redirecting attacks and making them more likely to miss, and have great versatility in both support and offense, as well as stealth and observation

lost numbers + 69 for blank :D
Bee the fact that you expected me to remember the lost numbers.
4. if they could learn one spell that isn’t available to them at present, which spell would it be?
Blank has only just recently gotten unexpected spell access and they also don't really know what spells there are but i think they would like Dream. Aria seemed to have fun casting it and they'd like to go visiting.
8. what are three songs that suit them?
From the Official Blank Playlist TM: Who Are You, Really? by Mikky Ekko, Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure by The Weakerthans, and Cherry Tree by The National
15.do they trust their party? why or why not?
Blank and trust are interesting concepts, because they sort of trust everyone. But primarily they trust Aelwyd, Ira, Kairii and Aria. Stras has been kind of aggressive with them and Chini is most likely compromised so they're more cautious with them. When they trust they trust completely, though.
16. what are their feelings on the people who raised them?
no idea who raised them. may never have been raised. or they are long long dead. they'd like to know about them, though. so there's that.
23. how do they feel about nicknames, titles, or labels that have been given to them? how do they feel about their name?
Blank is only their name because they do not remember their true name. I don't think they'd like nicknames or labels because it just further makes them exist only in the context of others. They would like their true name back.
42. what are three words they would use to describe themself?
speak no evil
69. how would they describe their party members?
aelwyd - nice. makes nice flowers. comes to check on them and listens to them so she's good. feels safe.
aria - did not trust her at first but she quickly became the party member closest to them, mostly because of her help with Vecna conversations. she means well and she wants to help them which makes her good. blank would kill for her. her death broke their heart.
chini - a little baffled by chini. she acts nice but she's also friends with bela, who has recently been determined to be Bad. concerned about her. glad kairii has someone special.
ira - also someone who feels safe. they like how ira is kinda small and casts spells. has not done anything bad and she is nice to them so she is good.
kairii - very intrigued by their dogboy abilities and like their vibes in general. they see kairii as a person but they are also lowkey like an ESA to them. will be devastated if they have to fight.
stras - for a long time blank was fine with stras but now stras has started being mean to them and to aria. they don't want to work with stras anymore. they don't know about kezef right now, but that's gonna seal the deal.

Hi! Some friends and I were discussing Bhaal and we were wondering about the souls of people killed in his name. Does he get their souls for himself even if they worshipped other gods? Is the act of murder alone enough to give him more power or does he need the souls of the sacrificed too?
Sacrificing a victim to Bhaal, as an act of worship and an act of murder, will feed him, yeah. As for the souls... I don't think they should go to him, no.
According to what I know of FR lore, I don't think Bhaal should be getting any souls except for those of his own faithful. The dead pass onto the Fugue plane and are judged by Kelemvor, and those not False or Faithless will be passed onto their deity and there's not a lot other deities can do, usually.
Jergal, in his early days, took exception to other gods getting souls, instead of him getting them all. As the ruler of the dead, if it had been within his abilities to horde all souls for himself and keep them from leaving the City of Judgement, he would have done so; instead he had to create Kezef, the Chaos Hound - an abomination that hunts and devours/destroys souls as they pass from the Fugue Plane and move towards their god's plane so that no god may claim them.
There has been at least one occasion where a god stole the souls of another god's followers - Bane consumed a large chunk of Bhaal's assassins. That was somewhat special circumstances though, since he had Myrkul's (begrudging) aid and Myrkul is an extraordinarily powerful necromancer and was also reigning god of the dead at the time, so he had access to those rules to break them. Also Bane and Myrkul were already in terminally deep shit with Ao, so breaking the rules even further and risking the wrath of the Overgod wasn't such a concern at the time. (He's also no longer god of the dead (Kelemvor is), so I doubt he has the authority/power to do that kind of stuff again)
There's a lot of lore and I don't know everything, so there might be information that says otherwise (and conflicting information that agrees with me) but everything I know says he shouldn't and if I were DMing I would say he can't claim them.
That said, Larian has their own personal canon and it does appear that Bhaal is eating/hiding other souls in that, according to Jergal's comment after you kill your lover and ask for their resurrection. Of course his excuse if you ask for Quil/Alfira is that he could but he's not inflicting you on them again, so that might've been a one-off soul eating to punish Durge specifically.
