The foxhole court, chapter five
Tumblr media
First books monsters were something really.
On an aftg reread, which is very useful to survive school these days. Currently into the kings men, i'll make more fanart cause this brings me so much joy (which - idk what it tells about my mental state). If you have suggestions on what I should draw next I'm taking em.

you can not call this season boring.
4 winners in 8 races. carlos misses a race and brings ollie bearman in who scores points on his f1 debut. carlos comes back and wins days after having surgery. lando achieves his maiden win. charles wins his home grand prix. 10 drivers have yet to announce where they’re going next because their contracts have run out. kmag is driving like it’s mario kart.
this is the furthest thing from boring !!

So, after a life of near total social isolation, Neil’s first real connection you would call friendship is with Kevin
Kevin learned his friendship skills from 1. The Ravens (Mafia sport cult) 2. Andrew
After a life of abuse and abandonment, Andrew’s first real experience of friendship is Renee
And Renee’s main socialization in life before college is 1. Born-again church 2. Knife gang
Feel like the upperclassmen need to cut Neil more slack with the whole “doesn’t understand how normal friendship works” thing. He’s four layers deep into the world’s most unhelpful game of human interaction telephone

number symbolism in aftg
kevin's bday being 22 + 22 ravens when evermore was shut down + 22 of neil's names and cities
andreil jersey numbers adding up to 13. baltimore happened on 10/3.
renees jersey number being 9 - stephanie being renee's 9th foster home
jeans jersey being 29 for kevin (2) and renee (9) and jeremy (2+9=11)
riko's perfect court fell after number 4 (四 ie, 死 (death))
neil's 10 is the mirror image of riko's 01

kevin getting angry at neil for not taking his health seriously and telling neil to run then promising to teach him every night and keeping neil's binder safe without looking what's in it and calling wymack to make sure neil is okay after winter break and offering to talk about riko if neil wanted to

Implying that Neil's immediate reaction to hearing that Jeremy is on the phone is to ask if Jean is okay?

Getting Jean's perspective of Neil has casually reminded me that Neil really was out here in tfc acting like Andrew was insane for thinking he was a mole for the Ravens.
Like the man was so offended that Andrew would assume that, even though he spent every moment before that being completely fucking feral, having a literal shrine to Kevin and Riko in his bag at all times along with $250,000 in what amounts to cash, knew french well enough to not only yell at Kevin with no context, but say something that got Kevin to throw him against a wall in retaliation....
This is the man who had the audacity to act like Andrew's assumption that he was hired by the Moriyamas was completely unreasonable.

everyone talks abt neil if he was "nathaniel" and a part of the perfect court but the REAL perfect court would have been:
riko moriyama (#1)
kevin day (#2)
nathaniel wesninski (#3)
jean moreau (#4)
andrew minyard. (#5)
LIKE !? the most insane lineup that uve ever seen. they would walk onto a court and be the scariest group uve ever witnessed omg?? and if they let neil and andrew play w the aggression the ravens were taught? they would be killing ppl on the court!

Thinking about how Andrew choked Kevin when he realised Neil was missing.
Andrew who would kill anyone who looked at Kevin the wrong way. Andrew who would stab whomever if it meant Kevin was safe. Andrew who saw a broken raven and said I’ll protect you and meant it and kept that promise like his life depended on it.
Andrew who nearly killed Allison because of a promise. Andrew who would’ve never talked to Neil again because of a promise.
Yet when there was ambulances and injured foxes and you were amazing before Neil’s gear with his phone, with a 0 on screen and a Baltimore caller ID, Andrew turned on Kevin.
Can you imagine being the other foxes and watching that happen? Knowing what Andrew would do to them for so much as breathing at Kevin in the wrong direction, now Neil was missing and Andrew was hurting Kevin and something is happening here.
Andrew and Kevin don’t have the luxury of a second language to talk to each other in, either. Whereas secrets were usually shared in French and German so the others couldn’t understand, now there’s nothing to hide behind, and Andrew doesn’t care either. Where is Neil, who is he, who’s taken him, is he safe? Is he alive?
Then picture being Kevin, knowing Andrew, knowing what this means, that Neil is more important to Andrew than he is now, so much so that he would hurt him for Neil. Not only does he know that; but he knows there’s a good chance that Neil is dead. If it’s his father, it’s not the Moriyama’s; he is the butchers son, after all, and the butcher was never keen to spare a life.
So the foxes know nothing and everything at the same time on that bus journey out to wait for his return. They know they’re hurt, that something is very wrong. They know Kevin has bruises around his neck, and Andrew can’t look him in the eye. They think they understand now why Neil got everything he asked for from Andrew; and Andrew thinks he might never see him again.
I’d say it was the quietest bus journey of their lives.

If Wyll Ravengard has a million fans I am one of them. If Wyll has fifty fans I am one of them. If Wyll has one fan, I am dead and it's Theo Solomon left holding down the fort.

"Kevin isn't that bad it's not like he beats her, why does she need to kill him or fake her death, just get divorced" you are the point of the show, you are missing the crucial reveal. Allison sees Kevin in every single scene as she does their last scene together, but we as the audience aren't privy to that and we only see sitcom Kevin which is Kevin's self perception. He is not suddenly becoming scary and threatening to her. He was like that the whole time. We only see Allison's feelings about Kevin and the aftermath of her interactions with Kevin -- this is the ONLY time we see Kevin from her POV except for the brief initial breaking of the sitcom cam. Every other time we see Kevin on screen it's from Kevin's POV. Even after she cuts her hand we only see the bandage in her singular pov when she is away from kevin, but when it shifts back to sitcom Kevin it's gone.... We do not see the reality of her interactions with Kevin, that's the point of the show!!! Because when Kevin is on screen, it's Kevin's world! We only see Kevin from anyone else's lens in ONE scene at the end, which is when Allison decides to leave, so yes the sitcom cam "softens his abuse" but it also just fully acts as an unreliable narration because we never literally see Kevin from anyone else's POV until the series finale so every time Kevin is on screen it isn't even an accurate portrayal of what's happening, it's Kevin's perception of what's happening. Allison has viewed him like that the entire show, we as the audience just did not get to witness that POV until the end
