Love your south asian miku series so much!!! May i request a Dhivehi (Maldivian) Miku bc i haven't seen that literally anywhere 😭
Thanks Anon!!!
Here's a Dhivehi Miku for you!!
Honestly, when I started this series, all I had seen from South Asian culture was a generic 'Desi Miku' and I went 'Okay....but..... there are so many amazing ethnicity specific outfits a generic 'Desi Miku' can never cover.....'
Thank you so much for requesting this cause this made me read up on the Dhivehi Libaas and the Kasabu Boalvalhu embroidery and I had a great time designing and learning new things!!

Transforming Spaces: Budget-Friendly Approaches to Attain a Kerala-Inspired Kitchen Design
Tumblr media
Embarking on a journey to revamp your kitchen doesn't have to be a strain on your wallet. For those who admire the charm of Kerala-style kitchens but are mindful of their budget, fear not. In this guide, we'll explore cost-effective strategies to achieve a stunning Kerala-inspired kitchen design without breaking the bank. Let's delve into the art of creating a low-cost kitchen design, Kerala style.
1. Selecting Sustainable Materials:
The foundation of any budget-friendly kitchen design lies in the choice of materials. Opt for sustainable options like bamboo, recycled wood, or MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard). These materials not only mimic the natural aesthetics found in traditional Kerala kitchens but also contribute to environmental conservation. Ensure that the materials chosen are durable and resistant to wear, ensuring longevity while maintaining the desired aesthetic.
2. Embracing Earthy Tones:
One hallmark of Kerala-style kitchens is their warm, earthy color palette. To achieve this aesthetic on a budget, focus on neutral tones such as beige, brown, and olive green. These colors not only mimic the natural elements but also create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Consider using water-based paints to cut down on costs and environmental impact. Enhance the visual appeal by incorporating these tones into your walls, cabinets, and even small accessories like dishware.
3. DIY Backsplash Magic:
A quintessential feature of Kerala kitchens is the intricate tile work. Achieving this look need not be an expensive affair. Consider opting for peel-and-stick backsplash tiles. These budget-friendly alternatives are easy to install and come in a variety of designs, including ones reminiscent of traditional Kerala patterns. Alternatively, explore DIY methods such as stenciling or hand-painting to add a personal touch to your kitchen backsplash, giving it that authentic Kerala-inspired charm without the hefty price tag.
4. Smart Storage Solutions:
Efficient storage is a key aspect of Kerala-style kitchens, where every item has its designated place. To achieve this on a budget, repurpose old furniture or invest in ready-to-assemble cabinets. Consider open shelving made from reclaimed wood for a rustic touch. Additionally, maximize vertical space by incorporating hanging pot racks or installing hooks for utensils. By optimizing storage, you not only enhance functionality but also stay true to the essence of a Kerala-inspired kitchen.
5. Energy-Efficient Lighting:
Traditional Kerala kitchens are known for their well-lit, airy spaces. Achieve this effect without inflating your electricity bill by opting for energy-efficient lighting solutions. LED lights, for instance, are not only cost-effective but also eco-friendly. Install pendant lights or chandeliers strategically to illuminate specific areas, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. Choose fixtures that complement the overall aesthetic, adding a touch of tradition to your kitchen without compromising on your budget.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, attaining a Kerala-inspired kitchen design on a budget is not only feasible but also a rewarding endeavor. By making mindful choices in materials, colors, and storage solutions, you can transform your kitchen into a space that reflects the timeless charm of Kerala without straining your finances. Embrace the DIY spirit, explore sustainable options, and pay attention to the details to create a kitchen that not only fits your budget but also captures the essence of Kerala's rich design heritage. Remember, a low-cost kitchen design, Kerala style, is not just about saving money; it's about making thoughtful choices that resonate with the cultural and aesthetic spirit of the region. Happy designing!
