I saw this post on rwby and decided to be a hater

The writing being amaturish is practically praise.
It's a punching bad still to some because it has an incoherently bad narrative.
As an example, Ruby is revealed to have silver eyes with magical powers for a Save The Day Moment at the end of volume/season 3. This is foreshadowed by like two scenes, one of which is a line in the pilot. The end of volume 3, was in 2016.
Do you know when they come back to the Deus Ex Machina eyes? Like, they address them at all?
Volume 6 which came out two years later.
They finally tried to give Ruby development in volume 9. The MAIN CHARACTER.
What's her development, you ask? Well, they reveal that she's been pretending to be happy. And is suicidal. And actually she should just be happy instead. When did this arc come out?
LAST YEAR.
They also gave Jaune development again, except this time it was really just comparable to Junpei in Zero Time Dilemma where he just showed up and he was edgy now. He then has to be assured that he isn't a failure and that he needs to talk to his friends to help him accept his feelings, and this leads to him getting.... white streaks in his hair....
ANYWAY, this is a show that never ends because the scope keeps consistently building and building without ever coming wrapping shit up, leading to constant 'theyll address it later' because they can't tell A story. Volume 9 was the closest they ever got, because it was a selfcontained thing and that took them literally a decade to get to.
Hardly anyone who hates RWBY keeps up with it and why would they?
None of this has anything to do with vocal performances or it 'intruding on anime spaces', and it being amateurish doesn't mean it's free from criticism for just being an awfully put together work.

I think Shadow of the Elves would be more successful with a more straightforward story and a few breather episodes.

While the original was partly episodic with selfcontained stories; with exeption of the Pilot and Finale two-parters.

LitBC - The structure of change
I have finished the novel and what I find most fascinating is how the story changes from part to part.
Young mostly comments on the physical change he sees in himself.
But in the storytelling I can see the indication that there is positive change. I see him slowly breaking down his habitual compartmentalisation:
The first part is selfcontained. It does not mention any of the other important characters and the fact that the two time levels are connected is rooted in a betrayal.
In the second part we get the intercut of two distinct thematically linked episodes where Young is the one trying to make an introduction.
The third part starts with two spheres of Young's life that merge into one narrative when both sides know each other.
Then the fourth part is not just a juxta position but has him explicitly thinking of Gyuho in the Habibi part.

Short Story Collections for Learning Japanese
Are you ready to discover the fascinating world of Japanese short stories? Reading in a foreign language is one of the most effective ways to improve but doing it for an extended period can also be exhausting, especially when you need to grasp new grammar and vocabulary at the same time. Short stories offer a perfect compromise. With their selfcontained plots and concise length they will sharpen…

Y: What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories?  Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?
"Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?"
THE OPPOSITE, MY MOST POPULAR STORY PISSES ME OFF LMAOOOO
my most popular story is The Hunt in the YYH fandom and i'm infinitely frustrated the thing i put the MOST effort into (The Sight Unseen) has fewer kudos in the same fandom
but like i get it because TSU is super long (160k) while The Hunt is a quick selfcontained read (at a tidy 26k)...and The Hunt is concise enough that it can be read fandom-blind (as proven by the comments from people stating they found the fic while tag surfing and LOVED it without having seen YYH)...also smut is popular...so it makes sense The Hunt has a wider readership which can include both casual and hardcore fans BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M HAPPY ABOUT IT...while i'm satisfied with The Hunt, i overall think The Sight Unseen is more interesting and is definitely harder to write so i'm more proud of the work i've done on it than i am of The Hunt even if The Hunt has proven more popular
i'm happy with ALL of my works though and their popularity or lack thereof isn't part of why i love them...i LOVE my OCs and my concepts and i'm satisfied with all of them no matter how they've performed <3
i'm not a popular author by any means so i'm just here for the vibes basically LMAO

Oh and speaking of rewatching the original, for anyone interested in checking out Gundam for the first time and thinking you should start there: do not do this thing.
Yes, it’s foundational for all of the Universal Century works that make up 80% of the franchise, but for the love of god do not think you need to binge that before you can try anything.
Witch From Mercury, Seed, Age, 00, Iron Blooded Orphans, Turn A, even Wing and G Gundam are better points to start with and they’re all selfcontained.
If you do want to commit to the UC timeline down the line, know that it’s a rough, rough start and that I’ve been doing it with Picture-in-a-picture to let me have it on mostly in the background and it’s still something I have to engage with at my own pace.
