Around a year ago I started an embroidery project which I had no fucking clue what I was getting myself into. "Van Gogh-inspired Halloween-y Cat In The Moon" as a surprise for @theintrovertinthetower (who has a magnificent black cat)..."if I can draw it, how how hard could it be?" i asked myself, incorrectly.

well. It took me a long fuckin time. But it turned out!?! well, even??

I went so insane over this that I even braided the cord for the border. I think the whole thing took me around 90 hours. If I had known the needle eye size I used for most of it was a terrible decision any earlier it might have only taken me around 30 hours! The last two thirds took me significantly less time than the first third. Super fun, and I learned so much!

I'm gonna do something easier next

affectionately dubbed the franken mumu, patterned after the columbian ruana. hand sewn from flannel, a few sweatshirts, and an old jacket with crochet thread. currently sporting 8 pockets, working on some bone loop buttons and couching embroidery on the back. ill post those and other smaller details separately :)

I made a pillow!

It took four months of non-stop cross-stitching, but I finally finished a pattern I bought from @8pxl a little bit ago, and tonight in a bizarre burst of productivity I finally sewed a back to it and stuffed it into a cute little pillow! It ended up being pretty much perfectly sized for a neck pillow, but I'm a bit worried about it getting dirty that way.

I highly recommend the patterns from 8xpl's shop, there are SO many gorgeous ones to choose from. I might end up getting another one soon o3o

tbh the most fun thing about going into different fiber art hobbies has been seeing all the little specialized tools some use that others don't (but imo should). like what do you mean cross stitching has 'needle minders' that are like these cute little magnets you put on your project to stick your needle onto??? in sewing we have stuffed tomato plushies for pins and needles, but this is so cute too??? I always lose my needles, I should get more cute accessories like this
