What is a Husband's Role? - Liyue Girls x Male!Reader

A/N: Exams might be over for me, but now, of course, I got a notice that I have to submit myself to a military assessment, compulsory for all men in their 19th year of life. Wonderful. Anyway, enjoy! CW: None.

Question: Who is a husband to you? What is his role?

Beidou: Well, it's quite simple. Y/N is a tough guy, one that's not afraid of taking the world on his shoulders if need be. He handles things in my absence, keeping the Crux’s land-based businesses afloat. While I don't take him out to sea that much, I'd rather have him well and good just in case, he's more than adequate at running the fleet. Me? Heh, he always has my back. Whenever I drink, he stays sober and makes sure I'm taken care of and back home safely and he keeps my bunk warm at night. He's one hell of a man in the sheets too- Why are you blushing, eh? Not the kind of answer you expected? A gal has her needs, I'll have you know. 

Ganyu: My husband is the light of my life. Y/N treats me like a precious flower, tending to my needs and admiring me like the most beautiful thing in this world. When he holds me, he does so with utmost care and attention. His affection makes me feel safe and loved. Thanks to him, I learned to balance work and life again. But even when I'm on the clock, he visits me everyday for my midday nap. All of his support has been crucial for my self-esteem and my efficiency at work. Without him, I don't know where I would be today. Hm? T-too scientific…? I'm s-sorry, I've just been thinking about it a lot…

Hu Tao: Ah, yes! My partner in crime, my muse, and the man ensuring the continuation of the Hu bloodline! Aiya, whatever would my world be without him? It would be as bleak as the space between life and death, with me - a sad, wailing soul, eager to find the comforting warmth of another… I'm lucky enough to have it already. His role in this marriage is not just being my lover, but being my best friend too! He's always open to my shenanigans and eagerly listens to all of my poetic scribbles, praising me and giving constructive criticism in equal measure. Y/N is not deterred by my work, and never ever turns a cold shoulder towards me. He's there when I want to mess around, when I need help or when I just want to lay in his arms and twirl his hair. Mm, I can already picture our lovely heirs! I hope they'll have his eyes~. 

Keqing: I would like to confess something, if that is alright with you. Before I became a wife and a mother, I didn't truly understand what I was fighting for. I have been taught to work towards the preservation of an abstract idea of Liyue, a homogeneous mass of people and the land along with it. I fought for it, yes, but now I know that I didn't truly comprehend what Liyue is. When I first woke up alongside my husband and when I first held my daughter in my arms, I finally understood. I understood that I'm fighting for the people, not as some vague collective, but as individuals. I'm working and fighting for husbands such as Y/N, wives such as myself, and children like my own. I would give my life for my loved ones a hundred times over, and I can work twice as hard, knowing that I do so for the future of my family and every other family in Liyue. My husband opened my eyes, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

 

Lan Yan: Hey - that's no way to think about your beloved! Love is not inherently about being useful to each other, it's more about feelings and companionship. For example, I can't say that taking Y/N with me when picking rattan is making the process easier or faster; I could easily do it myself. But I invite him just to have him near. Hearing his voice comforts me, and to be honest, I've been by his side so long that I just feel… off without him. What if it stormed, or what if night caught me by surprise? He would be worried sick, I'm sure… Or what if I met a ghoul or a jiangshi while out? I m-mean, I have a Vision and everything, but is it wrong to feel safer around my big, strong husband?

Ningguang: I find it fairly obvious - he is to support me, to comfort me and to keep me company. If you would like a more personal take on the matter, I'd say that Y/N, for me, is a precious antique - surely the most valuable of all. His role is to be a feast for my eyes and my heart, nothing less, nothing more. I wouldn't want to drag him into my business, as that would be foolishly risking his life. His role is to satisfy my emotional and physical desires - after all, true fulfillment in these areas cannot be bought by Mora. 

Shenhe: Well, I learned that a husband's role is… Hm? You want me to answer in my own words? Oh, I see. Then… I used to think that a husband is meant to give his wife children. It is what I thought for most of my life, until I met Y/N. Y/N’s presence, his words and touch, cause a comforting warmth to spread through my chest. I learned that this is what love truly means. It's a sense of safety, but it is exciting all the same. I want him closer, but my usual dark visions do not appear in my mind. I do not feel the pressure of my soul straining against the red ropes. He calms me, he makes me feel safe. Now I understand the importance of having a soul to share one's life with. I understand now what the word ‘husband’ means. And I am… happy with Y/N by my side. 

Xinyan: I love Y/N because he honestly loves me for who I am. No matter if I rock and roll or feel in the mood for something softer, he'll jam out to it with me. And he's one hell of a guy, let me tell you! He's not afraid to go all in with me, no matter what. I thought about going on tour? He's there with me. I wanna save some Mora to upgrade my guitar? You guessed it, he pitches in as much as he can! I feel like stealing him and partying the night away? He never says no. That's the best man a gal can ask for!

Xianyun: Hmph. Are you implying One's choice of husband is poor? One will have you know that Y/N is of the finest sort - a body that would make the gods of old jealous and a mind that rivals One's own. It is the latter that’s of utmost importance - One doesn't see a husband as a mere nod-along, but as a man that is capable of challenging his wife's character and inciting her to grow. As such, don't be concerned by Y/N arguing my points at any point in time. It is what One desires, and loves about him the most. 

Xiangling: Ooh, where do I start! My hubby is the best sous chef in the world - he makes sure that the kitchen is stocked up, clean and well organised, letting me focus on my favourite part - cooking! Whenever I need to get ingredients, he takes my place in the restaurant. Sometimes we go out together to get some new ingredients and experiment a little. He's good at cutting up meat, hunting down that meat and defending me if any of my ingredients decides it wants to snack on me. And, when we camp for the night, his cuddles are just the best! Both my dad and Guoba approve of Y/N, so I suppose my taste in boys isn't that bad after all. 

Yelan: A woman my age, and in my line of work, can't be blamed for giving up and thinking she'll be alone until the end, right? That was the Yelan my husband met a few years back. And yet here I am today, a married woman. I knew I was missing out, but I just couldn't imagine how delightful it feels to have someone propping up my back - not for a mission, or a profession, but for life. My husband is my safety net. His arms are my hideout where I can rest from the stress of my daily work. I never want to lose him, which is why I have him stay low and always keep the eyes of my most trusted agent on him. Nobody is going to sneak up on my man - not while my heart still beats. 

Yun Jin: His use? Ah, I think I can answer that with a single word - adventure. I always dreamt of journeying across the outside world, and love is such a journey. Y/N is my companion on it, holding my hand whenever I feel scared or unsure, standing steadfast by my side. He lets me experience so many feelings and emotions I could only imagine before he took my heart… Hehe, stories of love I sing in opera don’t come close to experiencing a husband’s warmth yourself.  

Yanfei: Well, who else would listen to me ramble on about my passion other than my lovely Y/N? I swear, no matter how many versions or iterations of Liyue’s legal history I read out to him, he never gets sleepy! He even asks questions and actually remembers what each chapter was about, can you believe that?! Hehe, seriously now; he’s a great partner, both in life and in a discussion. Y/N makes some room in his schedule for visiting me at work every day of the week, and always brings some mean snacks with him. Oh - you have to try his crab cakes, they’ll blow your socks off! And who ever said that guys can’t cook, right?

In the spirit of me fucking up my knee, could I request a short thing of Keqing/HSR Bronya princess carrying an injured reader?

Hello, Teeth!! It's been a while! A lot has happened. Normally I'd say that I hope you've been doing well, but the fucked up knee speaks for itself. Not sure how you hurt your knee exactly or how bad it is, so I apologize if anything written here is medically unsafe/incorrect!

Keqing would go full asian mom style. She'd scold you for being careless, saying things like "I told you to be careful!" and to "stop being so reckless!" while dressing your injury. Her words sting, but you can tell that she cares with how careful she's being with you. Also, she insists on carrying you the same way a few days even after you've recovered. Acts strict, but you can get away with a lot more with her during the time that you're recovering. She'll even let you use her lap as a pillow.

"Ow!" You hiss in pain as Keqing tightens the makeshift bandage around your knee. She glares up at you, eyes full of disappointment and irritation, yet also with a hint of worry that only you could discern. "Well, maybe if someone wasn't being such an idiot..."

"Still, be more gentle! You're dealing with an injured person here, y'know?" You complain, and the other woman rolls her eyes in response. "I'm sure it isn't as bad as you make it out to be if you still have the energy to whine."

Suddenly, Keqing stands up and lifts you into her arms with ease, carrying you bridal style as she starts walking. You yelp in surprise. "What are you-"

"Taking a certain idiot to the infirmary." You sort of just stare at her awestruck because she's rarely so... gentle? It's hard to find the right words to describe it, but you're sure this kind of opportunity is rare.

"What, you think I'd let you walk around with an injured knee?"

"Honestly, yeah, a little bit." As soon as you said those words without thinking, you were sure she'd put you down out of annoyance and tell you that you're free to go to the infirmary yourself, but she only stays silent.

"Whatever. Just... don't worry me again like that, okay?"

Bronya... would definitely overreact. There's no other way to word it. Her expression would be akin to a wounded puppy. She'll have all of the best doctors in Belobog taking care of you and the most luxurious bed for you to lay on even if your injury isn't that bad. Qlipoth bless her soul if the doctors even mention the possibility of your injury permanently impairing you, because she is most definitely going into cardiac arrest. After you recover, she makes it a point to ensure every place in Belobog is accessible to people who can't walk.

Although Bronya works as the Supreme Guardian, she's spent most of her life on the battlefield and she's learned many useful techniques from her experience. One of them is basic medical care.

She's not a professional, but her know-how has saved a few comrades' lives. Still, Bronya most certainly didn't expect that she'd have to use this skill of hers on you of all people.

"Bronya... I'm okay now. Really." You say; an attempt to console the very obviously distressed woman in front of you. With how much she's frowning, anyone that saw her would think that she was the one with an injury.

"No." Bronya responds, and honestly, this is the first time you've heard her so... stern. She knows that you aren't lying, but she sure as hell isn't risking your wound getting worse. "We need to get you to a doctor."

On second thought, it's too dangerous to move you around; it'd be better to have a doctor come here themselves. Still, the nearest doctor is much too far away, so Bronya decides to carry you there instead.

As soon as she picks you up, her mind races with a million thoughts all at once. What if it leaves a scar? What if you aren't able to walk normally again? Aeons forbid, what if you won't be able to walk at all? However dramatic, just the thought has her heart sinking.

She senses your unease and takes a deep breath, pressing a small kiss to your forehead. Perhaps her emotions have gotten the better of her. "I'm sorry, my love. You know how I worry for you." She smiles reassuringly. Whether she's trying to reassure you or herself, you don't know.

Yae Miko-

Thought you were the cutest little thing when she saw you on the first day of the new school year. She’s quick to make her move! Befriends you and not too soon after, confesses. She can’t help it! You think she’s just messing with you when she flirts with you. And who can blame you? First, y’all just met a couple weeks ago, and second, poor you can’t even tell if she’s serious or not with that shit-eating smirk on her face.

Yae Miko does nothing to qualm your concerns. She just likes your reactions too much. Your confused and flustered face brings her much satisfaction. You’ve turned into her piece of amusement and she doesn’t want to let you go!

She teases you so so much and you can’t understand if she actually has feelings for you or if she’s just playing with your heart! She really likes you though. Its just that she sees no problem in taking her time with you. She wants to study your reactions and really see what she can do that flusters you the most! In reality, she’s trying to treasure you, hence why she’s taking it slow, but you don’t need to know that do you?

She’s hot and cold with you but never too cold that you lose interest, just enough so she can see that frustrated look on your face.

But one day it got too much for you! You tell her whatever is going on between you two- if there’s anything between you two cause heavens you can’t figure her out- that it’s too confusing for you :(! Yae Miko didn’t think you’d break so easily, but she’s happy nonetheless. She wanted to take things a step further soon! Really wanted to be able to hold your hand and kiss you. But she tells you that she’ll explain everything in due time and leaves you stranded, but not without a kiss to your cheek and flirty wink!

On the weekend, she calls you up asking if you have a spare hour or two to hit the park. Tells you it’s an emergency and you come running thinking she might be in danger!

You come to her rescue at the park only to find a handmade banner tied between two trees and in writing asking, ‘will you go out with me?’ The cherry on the top was the pink haired girl standing beneath the banner with a bouquet of flowers.

Your eyes swell up a little. After weeks of back and forth from her, she finally gave you a clear answer. “Told you it was an emergency.” She says and she grabs you by the arm. She brings you into her arms and holds you in a big hug. “What do you say? Will you make me a girlfriend?” She asks while patting your head and she pulls away to look at you and well.. she already knows the answer from your face ;).

P.S. She had a whole day planned with you, from the park to the movies and dinner!

Kujou Sara-

Doesn’t catch herself falling for you until she’s already madly obsessed! She starts to look at (stalk) your socials, swears it’s not cause she wants to look at you but just to protect you from online haters! You quickly become the thing she thinks about the most, from right into the middle of the night to the early mornings when she wakes.

You start to notice the dark haired women popping up around you coincidentally! (She totally learned your schedule.) But Sara tells herself that she’s just there to keep you safe really (and to see your precious little smile!) She keeps her cool and calm demeanor around you, but she can’t quite look you in the eyes when she talks. She ties your shoelaces and holds doors open for you! Follows you around to the bathroom and to your car until you tell her it’s time for you to go home </3.

She starts to carry your backpack, pencil pouch, water bottle, basically everything you own. When you finally ask her why she goes through the trouble of carrying your stuff ontop of her own, she answers without thinking! Says something along the lines that a cutie like you shouldn’t be carrying such heavy stuff! Sara doesn’t realize the gravity of what she just said until she looks towards you since you’ve gotten quiet… and she’s met with the shyest look she has ever seen of yours!

Sara immediately wants to drop everything and take a picture of you, but instead you guys just walk to class in silence. Sara musters the courage to hold your hand and when she feels you give a little squeeze to her hand back, her heart skips a thousands beats! (she still living though lol.) The walk to your class is long, but it feels so short when you’re at your class door and Sara gives you back your stuff. Sara doesn’t know what comes over her as she asks you out!

“Are you free this friday?” She leans over the door looking at you as a light blush dusts her cheeks.

You nod, “please text me the details,” Sara, stunned, can’t believed you agreed. The bell rings, indicating it’s time for class as you head inside, but not without looking back to see if Sara is still there. “Sara!” You giggle. “You’re going to be late.”

“I already am, so let me look at you while I can.” Sara replies and you can’t help but wonder if Sara has always been such a smooth flirt! You finally head in, but not without the enticement of your date this friday and potentially your new girlfriend!

P.S. Sara cannot hide her feelings for you when you guys start dating so eventually the whole school knows y’all are together. Don’t worry though, she deals with the homophobes for you too <33!

Keqing-

Immediately notices how she feels differently around you from day one. Can’t really handle these feelings so tries avoiding you for a little to see if they die down, but she ends up just missing you even more!

She caught feelings for you once she sat next to you in class and heard you laugh. It’s such a simple thing, but Keqing got herself thinking how she wants to make you laugh more and hear all your different kinds of giggles and chuckles! She got shy at her own imagination and put her head down so you wouldn’t see her heated up cheeks! Little does she know you caught the red of her ears instead >;).

But even though you notice the red on her face when she looks at you and how she starts talking to you all fast now, no progress is made :(! Keqing is still quite the studious girl. She’s worried that you’ll become the biggest distraction ever from her studies! She uses that as an excuse to avoid you, but much to her demise, when you find her in the library that she’s studying in, and pull up a chair beside her, all that homework and those upcoming tests she thought about are now out of sight and out of mind!

She gives up on her little ploy to avoid you and decides she just has to manage her time better to be beside you! You guys take it slow for a while, it’s mainly stolen secret glances at each other that lead to you guys making eye contact sometimes where you both quickly break away but then look back to see if the other is still looking. Or its bad flirting between you two that always ends up in silence and with someone heated up in the face, but eventually… as both your feelings build up and up to its climax, you two practically burst!

Keqing and you can’t hold it in your hearts anymore. You’re both tired of waiting for the other person to make the move, so on one night when you both are out late at a cafe working on a school project. You two are sitting next to each other instead of across, and all of a sudden the cafe turns quiet with a slow song spewing in the background. You both look at each other, wanting to say something about the sudden silence, but instead you realize that the dinning room is left with only the two of you in it and that it makes you feel like it’s only you and her on the planet. You lean in a little.. she leans back.. you guys nudge noses.. she cups your face.. and you cup her neck.. you’re looking into each others eyes.. and then down to each others lips.. when you close your eyes and feel something soft on top of your mouth you realize you had the perfect first kiss!

P.S. You guys were definitely not alone. There’s always someone interrupting what would be the best kiss scene ever in the movies, and now it was your turn to feel that frustration first hand. Like its so homophobic for your waitress to interrupt y’all… (kidding I used to be a waitress and would hover over straight couples going at it like animals (T_T) with their food burning my hand off </3)

Furina-

Doesn’t want to admit she has a crush on you. Denies it so hard and challenges herself to talking to you without turning red! When that doesn’t work well she takes things to the next level…

She starts to make fun of you to prove to herself that she doesn’t really like you. She reminds herself that she’s doing the right thing because she thinks this where you are… beneath her. But after a particular moment when she went too far… she sees the hurt eyes and forlorn face of yours. All of sudden it doesn’t feel so good anymore when she feels like she’s the reason you’re crying! She exclaims that it’s your fault you can’t take a joke and runs away.

It’s not until an outside force (probably Neuvillette or Clorinde) who tells her that she’s acting awfully like an elementary girl with feelings… that Furina snaps. She’s no child and knows how to deal with her feelings! Do note her progress with how instead of denying her feelings for you now when called out, she’s denying thats she’s too immature to handle them. Furina decides to herself that you must be the sole person in this whole wide vast universe that is worthy of her affection.

So the next day at school she’s holding flowers, chocolates, and a big teddy bear with an ‘I’m Sorry’ sign on its belly, and you can’t help but think it’s another one of her mean pranks! When you run away from her and her gifts Furina doesn’t throw a tantrum that you didn’t accept her love, no, she grows even more determined to win your heart!

The game of cat and mouse begins as Furina keeps thinking you’re just playing hard to get! But the longer the chase plays out the more confused you get. Why would someone who made fun of you try to win you over all of sudden? ‘No, this must be another prank!’ Is what you thought until Furina seems at the end of her ropes.

It’s been a month of Furina trying to win you over and she starts to thinks it might just not be meant to be. The last time she tries to capture your heart isn’t with her bombarde of gifts, it’s her just walking up to you after school and asking if you’d go on one date with her. She ignores the confused look on your face as she tells you this is her last chance of trying to win you over and if you really don’t like her then she’ll leave you alone for good.

“Go out with me this weekend and if at the end you admit you’ve had enough, I’ll let you be.” Furina tells you direct and bold but also tired. She’s at the end of her line and you don’t notice the eye bags under her eyes or her messy hair. She has been staying up late these nights thinking of the perfect ultimatum to give you!

You, however, are still confused at what she means by ‘date,’ still not caught onto her feelings just yet. But it doesn’t sound like a bad idea as she promises to leave you alone after.

So you agree, and Furina’s face starts to light up again! She’s lost a lot of sleep over you, constantly thinking about how to win you over but she finally did it! She tells you to get ready by 10 am this saturday and she’ll pick you up.

Furina ends up taking you to the mall. She talks about random things going on in the world until she mentions a thing you both have in common! You forget about all the past teasing for a second as you geek out on this specific thing you like and realize that this isn’t as bad as you thought. The date goes really well and at the end of it Furina’s shown a lot of maturity in the past couple hours. You realize that maybe she does really have feelings for you and you consider them in your head. But when Furina pulls back to your house and she looks a little scared.

She parks on the curb of your house and looks you in the eye. “I know I said I’d leave you alone if you went on a date with me and didn’t like it, but… if by the slim chance you did.. then can I..?” She hesitates at the end and feels like she might’ve been asking for too much from you to be your girlfriend. But she doesn’t want to lose you.

So when you throw your arms around her and promise that you’ll really consider her feelings, Furina almost turns the whole car upside down! Even though she didn’t ask you out yet, that promise means a lot to her!

Is just a complete mess around you <3. But even though she embarrasses herself a lot around you, she just can’t find it within herself to pull away from you!

When you smile at her, call her name, or do anything remotely friendly to her, she goes into shock a little and immediately hides behind her bangs! When you talk to her, her eyes gleam but is a stuttering mess in response. She beats herself up about not being more chilled out around you :(.

You’re going to have to be the one to take notice of her feelings because she needs a little encouragement to confess. Originally you thought she was just a little shy (or your resting bitch face was kicking in and intimidated her..) But even after a while, she remains as flustered as she is around you. This leads you think there might be another reason to her shy behavior.

You straight up just ask if you’re doing something wrong and Sucrose immediately wonders as to where you came to that conclusion. You tell her that you want to get closer to her but you feel like she might be scared of you. Sucrose realizes how her shy demeanor can come off as a fearful one, and is quick to deny your concerns! However, she holds herself back from putting her feelings of you into words. Sucrose wants to confess her feelings once she musters enough courage to do so! But when you ask her what you can do to make her more comfortable around you, Sucrose just can’t contain it anymore!

She gets frustrated. Why are you so nice? And why do you have to make this so hard? She mentions that she can’t tell you the reason now, but that she will soon! Sucrose quickly walks away before you can refute.

In a couple days, Sucrose walks up to you. Looking at her feet but not without a letter in her hand extended out to you. “It’s for you…” She mutters as you grab the paper from her hands and your fingers brush against each other. “Oh really? Thanks let me open-“ Just before you can open the paper, Sucrose is quick to cut you off. “No, please look at it when I’m not here!” She finally looks at you in the eyes and you can’t deny her with the desperate look on her face. After you agree, she calms down and class continues like normal.

Once the school day ends though, you read the letter filled with pretty little handwriting as your eyes quickly skim it down. In writing, Sucrose is apologizing for worrying you for thinking that she didn’t like you. She quickly tells you it was the exact opposite case! You read how she likes you so so much that she can’t handle herself getting nervous in front of you and your heart swells! She does apologize wayy too much in the letter for the dumbest things like not being able to tell you this in person and burdening you with her feelings which makes you a little mad as to why she’d apologize for something so human. But you feel the passion written behind each and every letter! You anxiously try to find her and you’re glad she finally felt comfortable enough to tell you this.

You’re trying to find Sucrose but she’s no where to be seen! She very much so ran away after handing you the letter, not wanting to see your reaction. But you scramble around the school looking for her through the mass hallway filled with students leaving the campus. You remember that she’s in the Science Fair and head to her club and low and behold there she is. She’s helping a student with a project and man are you piped to see her. She looks so pretty as she tucks a piece of hair behind her ears and pushes her glasses up looking at the fake volcano she was helping with!

But there is no time to admire her beauty, you run over to her, breathless and Sucrose looks as if she’s seen a ghost! You ask to speak to her in the hall and drag her by the arm before she can decline. You don’t waste another second as you pop the question, “Will you be my girlfriend?” And Sucrose looks as if she might pass out from excitement? Relief? Happiness? You’re not sure as to what, but are more than happy to see her reaction. “Well… is that a yes or a-“

“Yes a hundred thousand percent yes!” This is the loudest you ever heard her speak and she runs into your arms! But her excitement turns into needlessly worry. “Oh I’m sorry! I was just so happy that-“ Before she can pull away from the hug completely you interrupt her.

“We really need to work on that apologizing habit of yours…” You sigh into her neck as you tighten your arms and Sucrose eventually lets herself relax in your embrace.

You finally found the answer to your new girlfriends shy behavior around you! And that answer has led to a newly blossoming love!

You trusted your girlfriend, you knew she was the most loyal person you know,but still even tho You didn't want to admit it, seeing Keqing laugh and talk with her colleagues, made your blood boil with jealousy.

Now you were on your way to meet with keqing. And as soon as Keqing saw you, she excused herself and walked over to you with a bright smile on her face. "Hey, you're here!" she said, wrapping her arms around your waist in a tight embrace. "I missed you."

You couldn't help but feel a little less jealous. "I missed you too," you replied.

You were going with Keqing to your dinner reservation and you have totally forgotten your Jelousy from before and you were happy to be with her

When you arrived at the restaurant, you were surprised to see that Ningguang had joined you for lunch. Keqing introduced you to her, and you tried to hide your feelings and acted polite, she was still a big person to liyue.

But as the meal went on, you couldn't help but feel like Ningguang was getting a little too close to Keqing for your liking. She would touch her arm or lean in to whisper something in her ear, and it made your hunger practically dissapear, you were disgusted.

Eventually, lunch came to an end, and you and Keqing walked back to her apartment. Keqing was putting her jacket up and when you stepped in she turned to you and said "everything alright my love?"

You were taken aback by that question, did she notice? "Uh I'm fine, don't worry..." You answered avoiding eye contact

"are you sure? You seemed quite jelous if I may say so?"You blushed out of embarrassment and looked away . She on the other hand catched the hint.Keqing's expression softened as she pulled you into a hug. "I'm sorry, love. I didn't realize ningguangs presence bothering you that much." You let out a sigh of relief as Keqing kissed you on the forehead. "Jealousy suits you, you know," she said with a smile. "You look pretty cute with it".

You knew that mona is a big astrologist , which means she's gonna have all types of people visit her for her fortune telling . You usually enjoy to accompany her so you would just hang around and wait for her to finish .

But lately a guy has been constantly coming around and obviously flirting with mona. And you knew she also noticed but she didn't say anything about it. So you thought you're overdramatic and just imagining things and you kept quiet .

Later that day you and mona were just hanging outside and enjoying the view and just in general talking and enjoying the nice weather . You were enjoying yourselves until someone approached you... That guy from before. He talked over you while you were talking to your girlfriend and started talking to mona completely ignoring you.

Your blood started boiling so you just stood up and left, you just went for a walk, anything as long as you were away from that jerk . You couldn't believe how inconsiderate and weird he was . Your head was spinning and after a while of walking you had finally cooled down and forgotten about the entire scenario so you were heading to your shared apartment with mona.

Coming in you realised the lights were off so you just quietly walked in when someone turned the lights on . Mona was standing in the doorway looking worried "where have you been?!" She rushed to hug you, and you honestly welcome her w open arms. "Did you leave because of that weirdo? Don't worry I told him to leave us alone but later I didn't find you so I went home and waited for you .

You felt almost silly , but low-key relived that he won't bother you anymore. And you openly admitted of your Jelousy to mona and all you got out of her was a small chuckle and her whispering "but Jelousy looks good on you ,you look so pretty when you're mad"

in fact, she knows very little nowadays. she used to know. to plan and to always avoid the terrifying position of vulnerability. Keqing always knew how to act, always quick-witted and trusted by her people.

So what was happening to her? how did she end up here?

How did she find herself gazing upon her? hell, she was aware of it and she was pinned by invisible needles from head to toe. Ganyu had her absolutely smitten, lovestruck.

Keqing let a sigh escape her flared nostrils as she gazed and gazed and gazed. She looks so captivating like this, face puffed from the couple times she'd shifted in bed all night. Keqing counted. She noticed Ganyu curling around herself and the way she brought her knees close to her face as she cradled her limbs. like a fetus, keqing quietly thought. so simple and worth the time she'd spend adoring her unconscious antics. Oh, she was so worth it.

Her skin almost jumped off her bones when ganyu's breath slightly hitched, goosebumps forming shortly after under Keqing's fingers. the room was chilly and despite Keqing's protests, ganyu insisted on sleeping with only a chiffon nightgown, falling asleep face first on bed before keqing could give her one of her cotton long sleeved shirts. She didn't even have the heart to wake her up, only managed a mumbled "scoot over'' and ganyu obliged with a curl against Keqing's chest.

Keqing's head whipped so fast it could've spun to the opposite side. her lips parted when her gaze fell to the same sight she's been memorizing all night. yet it gets even more vastly beautiful by the second. She couldn't bring herself to speak, words dying midway in her throat as ganyu shifted. "Thank you." the rasp in her tone made the heat creep up. up up up to far beyond her hairline.

"Yes," she breathed, so quiet. "It's nothing."

What was she thanking her for again?

Ganyu gave a curt nod and slid into slumber once more after stifling a long, animated yawn and Keqing watched. she watched and always watched with increasing wonder as to why could this girl do simple motions and catch her breath like that. she would watch until her bones would rot from the inside as an effect of ganyu's honeysuckle tone. She would very gladly watch herself be destroyed by her.

For her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" ganyu spoke against closed lids and relaxed features. she'd look asleep if it weren't for the graze of her fingers on Keqing's jaw, and Keqing almost jerked away. almost. "What's on your mind?"

"What?" The Gods returned her ability to speak. she swallowed in a silent attempt to clear her throat. "My apologies, I'm a little confused."

Ganyu snorted, not just any snort– it was one paired with a halfhearted smile and a shake of her head. "I think it's time to skip the formalities, no?" there was it again, the rasp and the honeysuckle tone. "We're far past that, considering… well, our previous encounters."

Encounters. yes, of course. Sleeping on the same bed tangled up in each other is considered a mere encounter, sure. She was definitely about to pass out. "I'm sorry, it's just–" keqing stops upon the frown that formed on ganyu's face. "I got lost in my headspace for a moment"

Ganyu hummed, her fingers tracing lazy circles onto the curve of Keqing's shoulder. "Your skin," words died again. there wasn't a single way on earth that would bring a steady pulse to her vessels. Keqing held and waited. "Your skin– it's so soft. I've always wanted to touch it."

Dear God.

"What's on your mind, Keqing?" you. her tone was firm now, still soft but now firm. Keqing gulped but her mind was still a whirlwind, all her organized thoughts were swirling in space. This was so ridiculous. "Work," she managed in a struggle, letting her eyelids rest for a millisecond. "It's been tough lately, with the lantern rite going on."

For the first time all night Ganyu actually stared at her. A solid, unbreaking yet warm gaze. Keqing was pinned in place again as the hairs on her neck poked her nape. Encounters. Sure. She was close enough that she could make out every hair that stood out of place amongst the messed blue locks. "You're not lying to me, are you?" don't look away. don't. "You know you don't have to keep that– away from me."

Before she could bring herself to speak–skies, even think– she was yet to be distracted again by the way ganyu's hair glistened a quiet silver shimmer even in the dimly lit room. The citrusy berries, the intense gaze and questioning eyes— she was never going to let herself crack.

even if it was for her.

She very much wanted to feel the skin of her collarbone. the way it would feel under her cold, scarred fingers. Logically much more appealing than her own pale skin. the calloused leather covering her bones.

You're so good, im nothing like you.

Keqing's sharp intake of breath was a clear attempt to calm her fragments that could ooze any moment out of her and onto the mattress. Ganyu's hands brushed against hers once more in a manner she wouldn't exactly call teasing, she knew ganyu. she wouldn't be intentionally driving her sanity on a highway.

"I– um…" Ganyu's curious eyes watched with intensity. try again, you idiot. "Can I hold your hand?" She did not say that. She absolutely didn't. She searched for a twitch, a tinge of disgust, a shove, anything. any sign that would shut her up for lifetimes to come.

But instead Ganyu's eyes remain curious, a warm pair of molten hazelnut laced with a burnt wooden exterior. no shove, no disgust. just curiosity. always curiosity.

Gods above, someone end her.

"I thought we already skipped past the formalities"

"This is consent. I'm aware that you mustn't touch someone without previous consent."

a chuckle.

then another chuckle, and another, until it turned into an infectious laughing fit they both shared for a moment. an act of intimacy she never wanted to end.

"Sorry," Ganyu wheezed, dragging the heels of her palm across her eye with a sliding tear. "I wasn't laughing at you, you just have a unique way to you." unique.

She thinks she's unique.

"Maybe I'm just as troubled as someone in my position would be." Keqing was once more silenced when she felt warm ends wrap around her hand. she was terrified. so so terrified to look down and some unknown force was yanking her neck up before she could lower it—

But it was too late.

The sight of their interlocked palms made her spin in place.

Keqing already knows of Xiao the mighty conqueror of demons. She respects him, but assures that she can hold her own just as she did before.

Bennett after meeting all three of them looks up to them and makes sure to be respectful

Bennett reminds Tighnari of Collei a little bit, and wonders if they would be good friends

After discovering about his bad luck, he makes sure to warn Bennett of any dangers in the wild (esp differentiating poisonous mushrooms) to try and prevent them

Since Tighnari has helped him a lot on that part, Bennett thinks of how smart he must be and asks if he can attend one of his lectures

Keqing also realizes Benny's misfortunes, and though he may need an extra hand, she admires his determination

I feel like everyone on this team are hardworking people, so they're always up and ready for anything

Xiao not really wanting to be in a team at first but what's new

At one point Tighnari explains that they're all here to support one another and Xiao's like fine :/

Despite Xiao saying he'd rather go solo, he always seems to be helping out during battles

Tighnari is excited when Keqing offers to give him a tour of Liyue, specifically the mountains where their regional plants grow

And of course Bennett is happy as long as he gets to explore and adventure

He'll never admit it, but Xiao partially feels at peace when he gets to sit down and have a meal with the team

Thank you for my cousin who helped me with this because I know nothing about cats and for helping me find a good breed of cat for her!

Keqing would definitely have a white japanese bobtail cat because there active, sweet, and very smart.

Keqing has a soft spot for cats and that's why she adopted one!

When Keqing feels overwhelmed or stressed she usually goes to her cat and pets it and that usually helps her !!

Because of how often Keqing works she can't spend a lot of time with her animal which makes her really sad.

One day Keqing went home somewhat early and saw ganyu with a cat in her lap , both peacefully sleeping.

Keqing, ganyu, and her pet are like a little family toghter!!

We all know Keqing's hair looks like cat ears right? So it's pretty funny seeing her owning an actual cat herself.

As more teases fell from the mouths of your other friends, you couldn't help but inch closer to them, once you got the go signal you pressed your lips against theirs. It felt warm amidst the cold of the season and radiated a sense of comfort throughout your body.

Eventually you stepped closer, tugging lightly on their hand before they tilted your chin. It was a calm, ordinary kiss, yet it made the cliché movie fireworks explode both in your mind and body.

It was funny, you could've sworn you were sure they didn't like you back, so why were they kissing you so calmly yet with so much fervor? As you pulled back, you couldn't help the sense of longing as you looked back into their eyes looking like they, too, wanted more.

Despite the small disappointment, the party went on without a hitch. Later on into the night, you spotted them by the balcony admiring the stars with a small drink in hand and joined them saying you wanted a breath of fresh air. "I've liked you for quite some time now" fell from their lips, somewhat boldly even, the sudden confession made your heart skip a beat. A kiss placed on their lips was all the answer that they needed.

Once you gave your permission they immediately kissed you, their happiness was infectious and leaving you feeling giddy once they pulled away from you.

“are you guys sure about this?” mona asks.

“let them be, momo. if the barista reacts negatively to it, then it’s none of our fault," childe replies.

well, to formally start things, it was a normal afternoon when you and your circle of friends decided to go out for some coffee since you all had a vacant at the same time. however, nothing really goes calmly when either childe or kaeya is with you (worse if they’re both together)—which brings you right now to you, who had just finished saying all of your orders to the cashier.

mona rolls her eyes at the nickname childe wouldn’t stop calling her with. “still, what is going on in all three of your heads? seriously, making them name themselves “honeybunch”?” she replies to him. “calm down, mona. it’s not like every day there’s a hot barista that you just randomly encounter.” kaeya joins in, chuckling at his words.

“i say kaeya has a point! like have you seen him, mona?” you finally say. when your group had finally settled for a table, mona steals a glance at the barista that you’ve been eyeing ever since you stepped foot into the cafe. “well… he isn’t so bad, i guess. and he does look like your type.” she sighs.

“but do you even know his name?”

“his nametag reads albedo when i passed by him earlier when i came out of the restroom.” keqing approaches the table, taking the seat next to mona.

“damn, even his name sounds good.”

“seriously?”

after a bit more chitchat and catching up with your friends, you had a feeling that your orders should be done by now. and that was when you heard it.

“one iced latte for… my honeybunch?” you heard it. you heard him say the silly name you assigned for yourself.

it just popped up randomly, honestly. you didn’t want to be that concerning and say that your name would be “my darling” or just simply darling on it’s own. so you had to settle for something more simple. simple yet silly.

and what else could it be if not honeybunch?

god, this might’ve been the most memorable moment you’ve had in a cafe.

childe was already snickering when he heard it for the first time, and it seems like he’s not going to last any longer when he hears it for the second time either. people were slowly giving looks, not expecting to hear such a… unique name being called out to the barista. and mona was close to melting at her seat because of embarrassment over the shenanigan you had just pulled.

“(name), get up, you idiot. that’s your order," kaeya says. he’s starting to feel bad for the poor guy since he’s still waiting for someone to claim the order in hand.

quickly getting up from your seat, you walked towards the counter, where the tray full of your friends’ and your order were neatly placed. as you placed your hands on the tray to hold it, you felt albedo’s hand brush against yours—as if it were a reflex to help you carry that tray towards your table. and is it crazy to say that his touch felt a bit electrifying despite his hands feeling soft?

the day moved on as usual, much to your dismay. albedo continued on his shift, and you as well as your friends stayed there until you were all ready to go. what you didn’t notice at first was that there was extra tissue left. but what surprised you more was the message written on the tissue itself.

So you being there as her biggest fan, her number one cheerleader, and just generally a supportive as a lover really pulls her out of those tough time!! You get her head out of the dump and she couldn’t be more greatful!

Giving - Physical Touch:

Xinyan is good with her words. She knows all the words to call your pretty and special, but she’s even better with hugs, kisses, and cuddles. She loves holding your hand. She does get a little insecure about her hands so loves it even when you trace over her chipped finger nails from her strumming the guitar. She likes to run her hands in your hair (or give you head pats) while y’all are cuddling too.

P.S. She’s definitely written multiple love songs about you. <3

Jean-

Receiving - Acts of Service: Running her a warm bath after a long day of work and making her dinner makes her heart go to the moon and back!! She’s so greatful for you in her life as her biggest supporter and energy recharger. Oh yeaa, after cramming in a bunch of work, she’s all cuddles and snuggles to recharge and make up for lost time ;) She also hates working overtime once you come into her life. She really starts to fix her schedule so she can spend more time with you!

Giving - Gifts: Jean shows her love for you through gifts. Even if she can’t always be there for you on special days, she wants to show that that doesn’t mean she has forgotten about you. And while you might tell her it’s okay, and that she doesn’t have to give you anything, she’ll still spoil you with the most expensive things. she knows your tastes down to the ‘T’ and constantly tries her best for you!

P.S. She always tries to out do herself when it comes to gifts.

Dehya-

Receiving - Physical Touch: She just needs you in her arms. She feels the safest when you’re nearby her, and while she might not want to admit it, she can get quite clingy when you’re not around. She’s been through a lot and witnessed a lot of violence first hand, so having you nearby means she never has to go far for her to protect you <33

Giving - Quality Time: She’s a lady kept busy with her mercenary work. But she will ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS make time for you. You’re her special someone, her most precious person, and she wants nothing more to spend the whole day with you. But when that isn’t possible, and she does get time with you, her full attention is on you. Eye contact, nodding along to whatever you blabber on, and always give you the “mhmmm,”and “yeah?” while listening

Kamisato Ayaka-

Receiving - Words of affirmation: Poor girl just wants to know she’s enough. You telling her that she’s more than enough and comforting her, makes you her safe space. She feels as if she can be the most of truest self around you. And if you whisper strings of praise in her ear or shout the words “I love you!” with a big smile, it would still gets her all red in the face to this day!! She never gets tired of hearing, well basically anything, from you. Could probably listen to you talk about quantum physics or something boring like that for hours and still look at you with hearts in her eyes <33

Giving - Gifts & Words of Affirmation: She wants nothing more than for you to known how much you mean to her. She secretly makes a goal to herself to make your day each day and see a toothy smile of yours. She mainly does so by hand made crafts, like origami or painting, with love poems written somewhere on them. She also writes you a lotttt of thank you letters with a whole thesis and conclusion (kidding, just she fills the whole card). When she’s not with you, her favorite past time is thinking of things to give or make for you.
