Something a little different to help celebrate Kenma's birthday! I offer the first two chapters of "When, When," a new KenHina story, which is now live on Ao3!

This is a 5+1 songfic requested by my friend @lilleeboi over on Twt; this was really, really fun to write for them, and @kalcia was kind enough to do a series of art pieces for the story, the first of which you will have to hop over to the other place to see. She did an amazing job, and I hope you will enjoy both the art and the story!

Story Summary: Five times Kenma missed Shōyō, and one time Shōyō missed Kenma.

Kenma hates this.

He hates it every time that Shōyō gets on that plane, hates that he’s the one staying behind, the one who has to wait for his boyfriend to come home. 

He hates that Shōyō has just walked through the gate, and Kenma already misses him. 

He hates that this time, it’s not for a few days; it’s for a few weeks, as the Black Jackals are heading off to an American tour, and Kenma has board meetings and streams and can’t possibly get away right now.

He’s always wanted to see New York City, and the chance to be able to do that with Shōyō?

Let’s just say he’s already filed it away in mind, that as soon as they can both afford the time, they are taking their own trip to New York, and Kenma intends to spend way too much money at the Nintendo store, but only after he takes Shōyō to the Central Park Zoo. He’s heard they have red pandas there, ones that you can get close to, and Shōyō has always reminded him of a red panda.

While those things—Nintendo stores and red pandas—exist in Osaka and in Tokyo, it’s the idea of seeing the world with Shōyō that appeals to Kenma, more than any game console, more than any cute little panda face.

He sighs. He knows that he’s being ridiculous. Kodzuken doesn’t have feelings! He doesn’t express his emotions! He’s deadpan and plays his games with a wry wit that his subscribers and advertisers alike adore. It’s how he’s made it so far, so fast, so young.

But then, his phone pings, and when Kenma looks down, he sees that Shōyō has already posted to his IG account, from the plane, and he has to fight back the tears, because already, he misses this man, so fucking much:

Hinata always longs to be in Kenma's arms. He is not opposed to the idea.

No matter that Hinata was still sweaty after his morning run, Kenma arms where always full of him the moment the redhead returned home.

Kenma wasn’t a heavy sleeper. The moment Hinata left their bed the loss of his warmth and toned arms curling around him brought him to reality. Sulking, Kenma quickly pulled the mantle around him forming a cocoon and tried to block out Hinata’s loud footsteps. 

At first he even tried to join him twice to his running routine,( “The power of love” Kuroo had manage to said after almost choking with laughter while sharing drinks) but his stamina and night persona were not the best combo for a running partner. Especially in the mornings.

He set for him when both of them had their afternoon free thought. Kuroo occasionally manage to brought Tsukishima and Bokuto had Akaashi and some jackals invited along from time to time. But more than anything it was just the two of them having fun with volleyball.

It turned out that after his time on Brazil Hinata had become more clingy than ever seeking for lots of affection and how could Kenma deny his wishes? He was more than happy to oblige.

 Skype calls were not enough for their time apart and they surely made up for the lost time. And now he turned to be starved from his attention that his own body couldn’t deal to broke apart each other. It was like his mere presence was charging his batteries for the next day.

He felt the time pass slow, the notifications that lights his phone tempt him, but he knows better. He is used for his sleep to be cut off now, but that doesn’t mean it stopped to suck. Shouyo will be home soon, so he waits.

And when the heavy sound of footsteps returns after a loud bang of the door Kenma had  little time to prepare himself for entrance of his soulmate. Hinata dives from an opening of his cocoon self and crawls on top of him under the mantle, his movements making him squirm and laugh as his hands touched both of his side.

“You are so sensitive.” Hinata murmurs at the base of his neck when he settles in their embrace.

“And you smell.” points back Kenma.

Hinata tickles him in vengeance.

High School is a cesspool of stupidity, hormones, and misplaced ambitions. The fact that Tsukishima has to be here at all is something he’s become resigned to. The fact that he has to join a club is, while irritating, not unexpected. The fact that he’s going to play volleyball is a choice, but the fact that the idiots he’s going to play volleyball with seem to embody the very essence of the High School experience as listed above is a daily exercise in patience.

It's a bit of a blow to his sense of superiority when Tsukishima realizes—if only in the privacy of his own mind—that he’s reluctantly fond of them.

What’s worse is when Tsukishima realizes he has himself fallen to the banality of teenage hormones in the least dignified manner possible. He has a superficial, meaningless crush. Not an intellectual or emotional connection. Not genuine feelings based on admiration or respect. A crush founded in nothing but physical attraction.

The shock of this revelation metaphorically knocks him on his ass for about a week straight.

Tsukishima isn’t stupid. He’s 15 and self-aware enough to know that gender doesn’t matter much to him when it comes to who he’s attracted to. There aren’t that many people that make the cut anyway, but it never has anything to do with what’s in their pants. Caring whether or not someone has the “right equipment” has always seemed so base, so shallow and unimportant.

Instead, he knows he finds intelligence attractive. He knows he likes pretty eyes and delicate features. He likes confidence, but not arrogance. He likes sharp sarcasm and jokes that cut at the edges. He likes quiet, gentleness that isn’t weak, and wry smiles. And he doesn’t care if he finds these things in a boy or a girl or anybody else.

So he’s not surprised that he’s attracted to a guy.

He is surprised that the guy in question is Hinata Shouyou.

His first impulse is to find the very idea revolting, and the fact that he doesn’t actually find the idea revolting at all sends him into a very quiet existential crisis. At least until he figures it out.

The thing is, he doesn’t like Hinata.

(He, reluctantly, likes Hinata as a teammate because the little shrimp plays good volleyball and knows how to fire up the team. He, reluctantly, kind of likes Hinata as a friend because he’s stupidly optimistic and encouraging, and you know he’s got your back no matter what. Tsukishima still finds him annoying as hell, but…Hinata’s not so bad, so long as Tsukishima doesn’t have to deal with him all the time.)

But he doesn’t like Hinata. He doesn’t think he could stand to date Hinata even if he was tempted to give it a try. When he tries to imagine it, he thinks it might be like getting roasted by direct radiation from the sun. Hinata is A Lot. He’s loud and obnoxious and he not only attempts, but actually succeeds at doing at least five impossible things a day. Talking to Hinata for any extended period of time makes Tsukishima feel like his brain is melting, makes him feel, sometimes, like he’s having a stroke with how absolutely incomprehensible Hinata can be. Hinata’s eating habits and table manners alone negate the possibility of any sort of civil dinner date, and then there’s the fact they have nothing in common outside of volleyball.

As a couple, they probably wouldn’t last more than 48 hours maximum, and Tsukishima is fairly confident that that’s a generous estimate.

Knowing that, though, doesn’t stop the miniscule flutter in his gut when Hinata smiles, all bright and golden and too much. It doesn’t stop the faint racing of his heartbeat when Hinata’s eyes light up—frequently at the promise of another toss or meat buns. It doesn’t keep Tsukishima from watching the way Hinata’s wrists arch as he slaps down the ball, or the way Hinata’s shirt rides up just a little when he jumps, or the way the muscles in his legs flex when they stretch after practice.

Sometimes Tsukishima thinks that kissing Hinata would get him to shut up for a second, and he can’t decide if it’s the kissing that’s more appealing or the promise of silence.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter. Hinata Shouyou is pretty, and Tsukishima can acknowledge that, but he’s not going to do anything about it.

(Besides, as it’s been mentioned before, Tsukishima isn’t stupid. He knows who Hinata lights up for the most, and it isn’t him. If Idiots 1 and 2 want to get together, then at least Tsukishima can be grateful that they can’t procreate.)

Another day, Another Au

Hear me out: Haikyuu + B99 AU

I don't know if anyone's written this, and if someone has well then oops, but this has been on the forefront of my mind since last years daisuga week. I originally intended a B99 AU for the Day 3: Crime prompt but then decided that was way too much world building for a oneshot.

I scrapped it, of course, but after rewatching b99 all the to it's seventh season, I realised that hell, I did want to do that. So here I am, with a set in stone (not really) idea of the cast.

Here's the list of characters as of now:

Daichi -> Captain Holt

Suga -> Kevin

Hinata -> Jake

Kageyama -> Amy

Asahi -> Terry

Kenma -> Rosa

Yachi -> Charles

Oikawa -> Gina

Atsumu (probably) -> Doug Judy

Kuroo (probably, I seriously have no idea) -> Pimento

The only real set in atone characters I have are of course, Daichi, Suga, Oikawa, Hinata and Kags. At this point in time, I don't really ship kagehina as much since atsuhina and kenhina have wedged its way into my heart, so I now have three ships?? Fuck me and my indecisiveness I guess... But out of these three, Kageyama just seems to fit the bill better than Atsumu or Kenma.

Oikawa is literally the only character I can visualise as Gina. From his presence to how Oikawa is chaotic as shit, he just fits her, you know?

Since this is but an AU, I will not religiously follow the B99 canon, but some events will be there (one of which being the bet between Jake and Amy in season 1, or the witness protection of Holt and Jake). I'm mostly debating half of the cast I've made (especially who would end up as Hitchcock and Scully, and no, I will not make the characters use punch down comedy), if anyone can give me suggestions to better this goddamn au, it'll be highly appreciated.

That's it, I'll announce when I'll be making the fic sometime within the next two weeks.

Kenhina Week Day 1: Dour

Shouyo was antsy. 

He spent an extra ten minutes getting ready for bed: brushed his teeth twice, ran to the kitchen to grab a glass of water even though he wouldn't drink it, and decided he needed to fluff his pillows again.

It would have been cute, if they weren't coming down from an argument. 

It didn't matter how much you loved someone, sometimes couples fight. He knew it was technically normal and Kuroo was right when he said there is no such thing as a perfect couple that never fights.

Did that stop it from putting him in a super awful mood? Of course not; and his boyfriend's anxious stalling was just making it more unbearable.

At least Shouyo had stopped apologizing. Somehow that just made it even worse. It was a simple accident, but a very careless one.

"Sho," Kenma sat up in bed, peering at the man who was now making sure all the windows were locked. "Please come on. I'm cold." 

Shouyo paused to peek at him out of the corner of his eyes before sighing and joining him with a mumbled goodnight and a nervous "I love you."

The space between them felt magnanimous. This was so stupid. 

Kenma huffed, reached over to wrap his arm around his waist, and pulled him against him. "Just because I'm mad at you doesn't mean I don't want to be close to you, okay?" He mumbled into Shouyo's neck.

There was no mistaking the shiver that settled over the both of them. "I love you too. Good night." 

"Good night. I love you." 

"I know. You said that already. I love you too." 

"Okay, good night."

Kenma pulled him closer. "Good night. Now sleep." 

It wasn't there first fight and it definitely wasn't their last, but it was nothing compared to the love he felt every waking moment he held him in his arms.

oh wow, I haven’t posted an original post to this blog in so long that I forgot how to start... hi!!! 

@stylinbreeze60 tagged me in this!! thanks for the tag, this seems really fun. 

just fyi, I’ll be counting only my most... recent-ish fics posted. I’ve been writing and publishing fics for various fandoms in various fanfic websites for the past decade and some of these I wouldn’t be found dead near them bc they are cringe KLGHDSLG I’m taking into account fics I’ve posted since 2017 only. 

some of these works will be written on brazilian portuguese, too, and I will link to those in the odd eventuality that I have any portuguese-speaking followers, but they’ll be highlighted differently!!

Most popular one-shot: in terms of views, it’s human manners 101 , the only inotanzen I wrote!! in which the three guys are back resting at the butterfly estate and they decide to build a pillow fort after spending waaaay too much time sitting there bored and with no supervision. i quite like this one but in terms of personal favorite, my two favorites are plant a kiss on me, a florist/tattoo artist rengiyuu AU i wrote for kimetsu no yaiba secret santa 2019, and staring at the sun, a kenhina fic in which kenma spends a couple of weeks with his aunt at a beach town and meets lil merman boy hinata. i haven’t been as powerful as that in a looooong time.

Most popular multi-chapter: hands down, its the courting of tomioka giyuu, which is a collab between me and my friend sassi (@sassi_perere on twitter), which can be accurately described as “a shitty romcom with a weird law setting”, as eloquently put by one of the characters themselves. it’s probably my most popular fic of all time too!

Fic you were nervous to post: the real answer here is ALL OF THEM, I’m an incredibly anxious person and I’m not very confident in anything I do, but one special fic that comes to mind is all of our flaws lie there, hand in hand, which is a kurodai soulmates AU that I wrote for @/yikescaninot for a valentine’s day exchange. my friends were beta reading it for me while I was out with my friends and I had a mild anxiety attack 

How you choose your titles: most of my fic titles fall under these 3 things: 1) clever one lines that I’ll come up with that summarize the fic well without drawing from the fic’s text itself; 2) a line from the song or one of the songs I’ve been listening on loop while I was writing that specific fic (that generally has some influence on the fic because I generally pick songs that match the fic’s theme and emotional setting to listen to); or 3) puns

Do you outline: yes!!!! I always have extensive outlines and I can’t work without one

Do you take prompts: sometimes! I’m not currently taking prompt requests, but I love getting them on asks or on curiouscat (don’t use this anymore but I used to like it)

Complete: 23 works, 21 on AO3 and 2 on Spirit Fanfiction. all of them are one-shots 

In Progress: 7 fics in total, one being the last chapter of the courting, other 5 rengiyuu oneshots I’ve been working during the whole year and one commission!
