Due to misrepresentation and the stereotypes of OCD I haven't seen this ever, but I need to.

Race who always needs things to be even, who used to have concerning fits of 'violence' as a kid where he would slam himself again walls, kick things, punch stuff until both sides of his body felt even. Who had to go to hospital with a broken nose because he just had to keep punching it.

Race who has rules revolving around keeping people safe (OCD is having a bad scary thought and doing an action to make it go away as a base summary) and cries whenever Jack pulls him away from drumming his fingers against the table or running laps around the room because he's being annoying or scaring people and screaming that he doesn't want everyone to get sick and die

Race who swings like a pendulum between thinking that he's insane and being convinced that everyone thinks this way -he's the one who can't take it and struggles

Race who doesn't give a shit about how clean his room is and is very rarely afraid of dirty things because that isn't what OCD is

Race who lies in his bed for hours in the morning and bawls because he wants to get up but he can't because he wants his friends to live

bonus points for Dasher crawling in with him and Race holding his son close as he sobs because he is so breakable he can't risk it

Race who only ran because when he was walking anywhere he would get the thought that something was chasing him or that the world was ending and he wouldn't be safe until he got home and was able to stop.

Also while my brain hasn't forgotten my thoughts on Cortana: Can we talk about the dynamic between Chief and Cortana?? I feel like folks are so prone to see it as a romantic dynamic but when you read the books its less romance and more "Sir, this is my emotional support AI." Because Chief's first person he looks for regulation and stability when he's captured is Dr. Halsey. And then Mendez. And once Mendez is gone, all the Spartans are still thinking like kids wondering if this is another game when the situation gets dire on Reach. We see the 20th cloned brain of Halsey which is Cortana who is cheeky as all hell, calls Halsey out on her pick (and makes her BLUSH at a statement saying John is as attractive in a primitive animal sort of way...like god he's 20 and you're edging on 50-60, Halsey.) Ackerson is ACTIVELY trying to kill them both to which...holy shit the pettiness of Cortana knows no bounds...and it's them working together but like..the way Kelly, Sam, James and John work together as kids. Chief can't live without the support. He can't live without someone telling him he can win.

And we get the paragraph in Fall of Reach where Cortana zips the REDACTED data from Chiefs file, looks at it and goes "Nah, fuck anyone that hurts him, he's been through enough." It's such a powerful dynamic between the two that's not really romantic levels of smoochy flirty. It's a live or die situation and Cortana cares enough to see that she's gotta save him and he's gotta hear that he can win. That he will ALWAYS be king of the hill.

i hold no secret dislike or distaste for the vast majority of the formula one WAGs- to be honest, i don't typically concern myself with them since they aren't directly involved in the sport.

kelly piquet is where i have to start splitting hairs in order to make a point; i don't dislike her because she's in a relationship with max. i would be quite happy for her if there wasn't something inherently forced about areas of the way she, and by extension max, appear together that i can't quite name.

getting involved with a single parent is a large undertaking for anyone let alone a (now) twenty seven year old formula one driver. the relationship he and p have is incredibly sweet, but if i were more cynical there's an element of it that smacks of pseudo-babytrapping to me ( @v3rlonso )- that isn't even taking into account the comment on kelly's instagram, which . . . did not seem as though it was written by max in the slightest.

i don't inherently dislike her, but at the same time i can't bring myself to like her. hopefully that makes sense, mootie!!

I saw a post about this a hot minute ago and I'm so mad I can't find it BUT. While I LOVE Present Mic as a popular radio personality, there isn't really that much concrete evidence to support that idea. (Which, to be fair, there isn't a lot of concrete evidence about the careers/public perception of a lot of pros outside of All Might, Endeavor, sorta Hawks, etc., so you can pry that headcanon out of my grasp with a crowbar and so on.) That being said, I think a really fun angle to explore re: Present Mic as a radio host-pro hero-UA teacher (that I may or may not have the bare bones of a fic about👀) is the idea that Mic debuted as a very successful hero and entertainer, and experienced pretty steady growth in both aspects of his career for a few years before he took a teaching position at UA.

Hero rankings are based on incidents resolved, and can be damaged by taking any amount of time off (such as when the Wild Wild Pussycats took, what? A couple of months off from hero-ing? and their ranking plummeted by several hundred places). Teaching is time consuming; it's the kind of job that often necessitates 'bringing work home' with you in the form of grading, lesson planning, etc. Obviously it would cut into Mic's focus on his hero work and his radio show, and obviously that would affect not only his actual ranking but how much attention his career/persona garnered. After all, there is an influx of new heroes every single year when hero courses across the country graduate. It takes work to stay relevant in this universe.

So now I'm thinking of like. Present Mic but with the level of fame/popularity of a celebrity who was big a handful of years ago, but you don't hear so much about anymore. Like, yeah, they're still active, and still have a (often very dedicated) fanbase, but they've kind of been shuffled out of the spotlight a little bit. This also makes his lackluster reception at the entrance exam so much funnier imo, because those students would have been like 8-9 when he stopped just doing hero/radio stuff and started teaching, but they're teenagers now and Present Mic is sooo not in anymore.
