#keep the legend alive

1d4chan has been down for over a month now, you can still find the text on Bibanon and archived.moe. Screenshots are on Reddit and Imgur, and Bite Sized Party did an audio recording on Youtube.
If I can ever recommend one thing to you, it is this:
I have several done years of RPing, and this has taken me to countless different forums and, if you are at all familiar with RP forums, let me tell you, they were the lowest of the low some six or seven years ago.
In one of these forums, a legendary tale happened, a tale that, if I can ever recommend one thing to you, it is this:
The Ballad of Edgardo.
A story that happened to an anonymous RPer years ago.
Anyone will be able to appreciate it (and trust me, you will), but if you are kinsmen or kinswomen to me, if you ever had to experience the shittiest of RP forums and their terrible userbases, particularly that one guy that does whatever he wants and is an asshole that clearly godmods but gets away with it because the actual mods don’t give a damn, you will find the beauty behind the ballad that much brighter.
Just trust me on this one. It’s not a particularly long read, either.
I hope you enjoy The Ballad of Edgardo

Korra: I haven't seen Asami for 3 years.... Kyoshi: You haven't seen your girlfriend for 3 years???? Korra: W-we aren't dating.... I dunno if she likes me. Kyoshi: Oh been there. Girl, she built a statue of you, take the plunge. Kyoshi: But, spirits, 3 years? I barely lasted 6 months. I would've died. Korra: Really? Kyoshi: Oh yeah, but Rangi would've ripped my soul out of the next Avatar and plunged it back into my body if that happened tho.

Happy Hobbit Day! (I almost forgot and it's technically well into the 23rd where I am right now, but I haven't gone to bed yet since waking up on the 22nd, so we'll say it counts.)
Tumblr media
I think if Boromir had survived he should be allowed special permissions to go into the Shire to see his friends in their native habitat after everything is over.

ATLA Headcanon:
Iroh is known for being so funny and kind.
We know he respects all 4 nations' cultures and values. He lied about killing the last dragon to keep the origin of fire bending and the original purpose and values of fire bending alive. He respects the spirits of the water tribe even when fighting for the fire nation and even fights his own side of the war (at the time) to preserve the spirits who are much more water tribe value than fire nation. We see him understand the values and mindset of the earth nation, even when he is fighting them as a general for the fire nation.
In his talk with Zuko he mentions how the Air Nomads were apparently known for their senses of humor. I headcanon that while being silly and goofy is a part of Iroh as a person, he makes a very explicit point to joke, laugh, and try to share a strong sense of humor everywhere he goes in an attempt to keep a part of the air nations' culture and values alive even after his people killed them all off. He couldn't save them from extinction like he could with the dragons, but he believes that maybe he can just try and incorporate and keep some party of them alive, no matter how small it may be. He shows not only his humor throughout the series, but respect for the spirits (also a big part of air nation culture and I'm trying to more refer to his ability to see spirits and "live" in the spirit realm in Korra), great hospitality for literally EVERYONE he comes across (important as explained in Korra), offers wisdom and guidance to everyone (very similar to how Aang kinda ends up towards the end of the series), very little attachment to material items and riches (shown when Iroh and Zuko first decide to go off on their own and hide from the fire nation), and I'm sure more I'm not thinking of.
I just like to believe that Iroh through spending the time to learn about the other nations decided to include learning as much as possible about the air nation and nomads and in some retrospect made the choice to try and implement some of the customs and culture of the people who were, at the time, extinct in his own life and try and share, even just a little of their values, with the rest of the world to try and keep some part of them alive in the world that already killed off every other bit of them.

you know what really hurts? the fact that up till the end, Qiu Qingzhi was still trying to protect Li Bing.
Over here Yi Zhi Hua reveals that from the very beginning, Qiu Qingzhi's motivations had simply been to protect Li Bing. He never meant for Li Bing to turn into a half-cat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even in the letter to the Empress he gives all the credit to Li Bing to ensure that he still remains in the Empress's favour
Tumblr media Tumblr media
most of the letter just lists the motivations and crimes of Yong'an Elders, and concludes with QQZ giving the credit to LB, from what I can tell (source: trust me do not in fact, trust me)
He enters the secret room before anyone else to get the stone on the dagger for Li Bing: the only medicine that can turn him back into a human.

lancelot's armor is beautiful: shining silver-white and engraved ever so delicately with flowing scrollwork. flowering vines curl across the breastplate, his gauntlets, the pauldrons, and even his helmet. those parts that aren't decorated with engravings are polished to a near mirror-shine, the tiny and deceptively delicate seeming plates moving together like the scales of a fish. he's proud of it, for it is the armor of a prince and the sign of favor from the faeries.
the lady of the lake next gifts lionel his armor: brilliant if somewhat darker silver steel, merging seamlessly with the bronze of gannes' traditional armors. it is the armor of a king, styled like his great ancestor who first took the throne centuries ago. swirling patterns are engraved and enameled carefully in deep red, resembling the traditional tattoos the people of gaul wore into battle before the romans. on one pauldron is the snarling visage of a lion, the other resplendent with the symbol of the boar god of old. the richly soft fur of wolves lines the leathers, visible over his gorget and gauntlets . unmistakably a gift suited for a king of great might, and great wisdom.
when it comes to bors, the lady is careful for her youngest foster is unwilling to draw attention from his family: the steel is well polished, but not nearly as brilliantly eye-catching as lionel or lancelot's. some scrollwork winds its way up the sides and across the front of the breastplate, but it is simple. a curling vine, with small stars instead of blooms. yet when one looks closer they'll see how the reflection of light is scattered, breaking almost as if it were hitting myriad points, and a close inspection shows subtle work to engrave the plates with feathers, like the wings of the angels bors sees and listens to. deceptively simple, but beautiful all the same.
