#out of queue#ani rambles#me and my friend met for dinner today#talked about post election anxieties and dealing with republican dads and jazz#and id mentioned to her via text like oh hey a way to keep hope and take action would be to join a mutual aid org#so we looked to see if we could find any in our area#there wasn’t much for her specific area but more for mine (i live in a city she lives in a nearby offshoot town kinda deal)#and theres a DSA general meeting next Wednesday#and technically I could just fucking go I don’t have work that day#but my friend won’t be able to come with me and I’m awkward about doing stuff alone#ani in a social situation is like a horse loose in a hospital#no one knows what the horse is gonna do/supposed to do. least of all THE HORSE#but also…… i could talk the talk and walk the walk i could join a mutual aid org#like im gonna try and go to the FNPS chapter meeting next month but idk if that counts as mutual aid#also turns out there is a FNB in my city but uhhhh im awkward im nervous i cant cook and I dont make THAT much money

im getting really tired of all the most random bullshit bills being brought to the forefront of american politics… book bans, drag bans, and now tiktok bans? why are we letting people debate this shit when children are actively being shot up in schools? when the housing-cost-to-minimum-wage ratio is completely unlivable? what the fuck? why does this feel like we’re being toyed with and distracted? why is this suddenly happening now more than ever? i’m tired of it. i’m tired of the circus show that is american politics and i’m tired of living through historical events.
#let me be clear that i understand all of these bans are awful and a huge infringement on rights to freedom and privacy#i’m just so fucking mad that republicans keep coming up with the most BULLSHIT laws to try to pass to distract us from any real issues#they have us playing fucking defense out here#i’m scared of what that means for america and i’m so fucking tired of it#this is ok to rb by the way. hopefully someone will eventually give me good news#politics#negative

some leftists, even those who will vote for Kamala Harris while holding their nose, make claims like, "fascism doesn't just go away if you vote against it" & while there are those out there who do feel this way (or at least want to) there are MANY who know that something like Project 2025 doesn't just go away if they lose their chance to implement it nationwide.
a leftist responded to one of my comments on facebook when i mentioned something about "accelerationists." it was only part of my comment & not even my point. they were SO offended by me calling "all of them that" when i did no such thing. what i see is that leftists who claim they're above everyone because they don't fall for propaganda that easily are proving they are just as human as the rest of us & only read what they want to read.
i get it: the US has A LOT of issues. this is not a great country. there are so many things i want to see get changed for the better. there are plenty of folks who feel the same while not identifying themselves as far left.
one other issue i have: i mention Ernst Thälmann quite a bit in my political posts. he was a German politician & leader of the Communist Party of Germany. he regarded the Social Democratic Party as "social fascists" which made it harder for the two leftist parties to work together. when he ran for office again in 1933 he lost by a landslide & Hitler took office. Thälmann was arrested by the Gestapo & sent to Buchenwald. his party rival, Walter Ulbricht, ignored requests to plead for his release & Thälmann was eventually shot & killed on Hitler's personal command.
when i brought up Thälmann recently, someone commented, "yeah, don't be like the guy who wanted to beat fascism but vote them in instead." that is NOT what i meant & these folks who claim they're the smartest ever because they don't like the US (that's actually a low bar; plenty if people dislike it) like to pretend they don't see my point. my only point is this: we are stronger together regardless of your normal party affiliation. working apart? making purity politics your hill to die on? it won't help us & we probably won't like how that'll turn out.
leftists who don't see the forest for the trees: you're right, you can't just "vote fascism away." the issue is your wanting to be superior to the rest of us is you may be part of what helps them get that kind of power. you're not the MAIN problem; our justice system is garbage & there's decades of poor education & people have been falling for propaganda & people are voting for anyone who is as hateful & ignorant as they are. my point in saying to not be an Ernst Thälmann is: don't tear us apart because of even slightly different ideologies. we need to work together. start at the local level. please remember it's not just the president; Congress & the Supreme Court are also filled to the brim with corruption.
#us politics#american politics#leftists#anyone can fall for propaganda#anyone can take something out of context#anyone fighting against what the gop has become needs to be welcome#keeping us all apart is a major problem#voting third party won't solve anything & only hurts the major party closer to your goals#america is awful in a lot of ways#there are pockets of fascism everywhere#and our government has been fascist to indigenous & non-white people for ever#but good things can happen if we work together starting at local level#yes call out the president#but i hope you're doing the same to members of congress#y'all act like our government is already a monarchy#even if the president doesn't wish for somrthing to happen Congress is the one that can make it awful too#liberals#conservatives#libertarians#centrists#moderates#democrats#republicans#you're all welcome if you don't want trump to win

the one silver lining there might be to that insane supreme court decision is that maybe people will get it through their skulls why they need to hold their noses and vote blue because of it. your choice in november is either an old idiot or a literal wannabe fascist dictator who is proudly proclaiming he'll issue a totalitarian crackdown on his political opponents if he wins
#political crap#fuck trump#i say this bc while the dobbs case was obviously disgusting at least it damaged the republicans in the midterms#because a lot of people went 'wait what the fuck' and voted against them#people doing that to trump is the only way to keep him out#and if you're not going 'wait what the fuck' to the prospect of a us president having COMPLETE IMMUNITY FROM THE FUCKING LAW#and don't want to vote to keep that from getting put into practice because biden is a geriatric who's too nice to israel you're an idiot

So....now only has Trump and MAGA spent all day today lying about Teamsters endorsing them:
But now they're lying about EXPLOSIVES being at his rallies?
Seems like this is a half-assed and quite frankly PATHETIC way to distract from the lies that Trump spread about Haitians (along with his couch fucking VP and that Laura Loomer bitch).
This isn't even funny anymore. This is legitimately pathetic. Is THIS who we want as a president? A 78 year old convicted felon full of lies and deceits who's a consistent liar??
Voter Deadlines are down below along with links to check when you can do Early Voting and Mail in Ballots since I have NO DOUBT MAGA will try bomb threats to shut down polling booths in every city on voting day so it's better to try to get it started early.

How on earth is harris v trump a tight race??? How do ppl look at donald trump having SEEN the way he acted in his presidential term, seen his LENGTHY criminal record, seen the fact that NOBODY else in his party aside from some loose hanging cultists wants to associate with him, seen the way he literally incited riots after losing an election which resulted in at least seven deaths, seen his total lack of coherent policy plan, and think yeah well but Kamala is a cop. Which isn’t even fucking true
#she keeps painting herself as a cop which is bad for leftist audiences but so good for attracting literally everyone else#and its funny bc she’s not a cop. she’s a middle of the road average prosecutor. there is one thing on her record where im like ok that’s#indefensible and its her defense of prison labor in like 2011. everything else that ive heard of sounds par for the course for her roles at#the time she held them or it sounds like a campaign promise meant to draw the widest net of voters. she ran on progressive policy in 2019#and nobody fucking voted for her! im sorry but ‘’im going to get people killed again if i lose’’ vs ‘’[typical politician speech]’’ is just#such a clear choice to me.#the thing too is democrats let things get shitty so when they run they can be like ‘’i will fix this thing that i totally neglected on#purpose when i couldve fixed it years ago’’. but what is the solution here? how do we get them to stop? elect a republican cult leader? yeah#that’ll show em. that won’t give them more fucking excuses for when they can’t do literally anything#elect a third party candidate? who? where? you think jill stein is going to win her 40th presidential race with the same plan of minimal#campaigning and vapid promises??#anyways. this post isn’t meant as a ‘’vote blue no matter who’’ ‘’get out and vote’’ it’s meant to be like. no fucking way we’re acting like#these candidates are equal.

Don't let word salads by J.D. Vance or flip flops by Trump muddy the waters about reproductive freedom.
Donald Trump appointed, and the then GOP Senate confirmed, the three US Supreme Court justices who made the overturning of Roe v. Wade possible.
Donald promised the fundamentalists that he would kill abortion in the US and he actually kept his word on that.
Voting in a voter initiative to protect abortion in your state but then also voting for Republican candidates is truly incomprehensible. Do you really expect Donald Trump or the GOP Florida legislature to enforce laws which protect reproductive freedom?
Trump has bragged about killing Roe v. Wade.
youtube
If you really want government out of your bedroom and out of your doctor's office, vote Democratic and urge friends to vote Democratic as well.
BTW, it doesn't matter what Melania has to say about this. She never appointed a SCOTUS justice and she has little to no influence on Donald's politics. They probably haven't even slept together in years.

#controversial slightly radical political take incoming#im so sorry but i cant stand the 'vote blue no matter who' crowd like yall are the reason why we are in this mess in the first place#pushing unpopular centrist genocide supporting candidates and then acting shocked that they lose and blaming liberals not voting-#when republicans would NEVER push a candidate as far left as biden and hillary are right and thats why they keep winning#and acting like committing genocide being a red line to not vote for someone is a bad thing be so fucking serious#they would vote for someone who supported the holocaust in the 40s as long as they called themselves a democrat while doing it#the fucking tactic of vote for our guy because the other guy is ~worse~ instead of giving people something to actually care about#ISNT WORKING OUT SO WELL HUH who would have thought#genuinely that is why bernie made it so far in 2016. because he made people hope that things could even start to change.#and unfortunately trump also did that for his base. and even more unfortunately. the dnc saw that and stomped it out. and then THEY lost.#fear mongering fascism to people watching protesters against genocide getting beaten by cops under the administration youre pushing#isn't exactly that convincing. sorry.#like yeah. we need the majority in the house and senate for sure. but president wise? you cant convince me there is a 'less' evil option#like how dare you even insinuate that after all that has been done in these past nine months tbh#i think its the fucking sugar coating that really pisses me off more than anything#like. you do not have to make biden out to be a good man in any way just to make trump seem like a bad one. thats already established.#youre voting for evil. either way. just accept it. there is no 'less'. trying to absolve yourself from that is what pisses me off.#and 'voting blue no matter who' is what got us all here in the first place. convincing ourselves that here is a less evil in every situatio#sorry. im done now. i just hate seeing all those guilt tripping 'well now you HAVE to vote' posts on my timeline.#politics

Just a reminder that a vote for no one is a vote for the opposition
#Get real#You can't be neutral on this#We're not looking for an ally#We're trying to keep Republicans out#Ebcause you can belly ache about how Democrats are just as bad or how they don't do anything all you want#They're not the ones killing us in the streets#Voting blue in the 2024 election is so important you don't understand#My family is getting passports and considering skipping the country if the election goes wrong and there are a TON#Of reasons why we don't want to do that.#I'm fucking begging you#Vote blue no matter who#Even if it's Joe#Voting third party is a waste of time. It just makes the chances of winning smaller#us politics

to those who are either protest voting (as in, not voting at all) or voting third party: i understand protesting & speaking out against the president. yes, absolutely they need to held accountable. that said... are you also protesting members of the Senate & the House? for being as knowledgeable as you claim you seem to think the president & the vp are monarchs & make all decisions themselves. please know that it is Congress who decides to go to war or not, etc.
are you voting locally? are you making sure these same ghouls who don't give a shit about what's happening to Palestinians & wants Israel to succeed don't get into office? or are you saying that your vote doesn't matter & you just choose not to? why are you surprised then that these pieces of shit are voted in if you continue to allow older generations to choose your representation for you?
genocide is evil. it's something everyone should be against, absolutely. but if your only solution is to vote only during federal elections (jill stein is a putin puppet & tbh it's weird that the problem that is Russia isn't more of an issue still. she doesn't get involved except during presidential elections & idk why that isn't sus to you) & to cause discord & division during an election that really isn't normal, it doesn't really feel like it's for change. it feels like the kind of change that you want needs to happen yesterday & fuck everyone else in this country.
you want things to be better? start by caring about what happens locally. younger voters are notorious about not voting in local elections. i don't want to victim blame but voting actually works & if you decide to not let your voice be heard then that's your choice but don't be surprised when people become pissed at your whining when you didn't show.
is there any outrage aimed at Congressmen? it's hard to tell since Palestine & protestor's anti-biden stance are the loudest about it but it just tells me you don't actually know how this government works & you need to make your local politicians held responsible, too. change starts at the local level. if you're not there then your voice just won't be heard.
Project 2025 is real, too. if you claim people voting for Harris in order to protect themselves & their loved ones are "pro-genocide" for it then don't be surprised they don't take you seriously. frankly it's vile to claim that stance. there's so much nuance here. it's complicated. i understand your anger but in the end stein has no real chance to get into office & it will be between Harris & trump. you will be governed by one of them whether you like it or not. trump promised Netanyahu anything & Harris has shown she is willing to listen. what will you choose? ignoring it won't make it better for you or anyone who isn't white, xtian, straight, cis men. just think about it for a bit.
anyways NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT PROJECT 2025/AGENDA 47. please check your voter registration status often. talk to any friends, family, acquaintances, etc who are even THINKING about voting for Harris/Walz. it doesn't matter what party you're normally affiliated with; every voice matters in this fight for our democracy. vote early of you can or take PTO/call out sick if you can, just MAKE SURE YOU VOTE. good luck & stay safe, esp everyone in red & red/swing states 💙
#us politics#vote#voting#vote blue#protesting is american#don't stop#but don't just protest the president#protest your local congressman#the house and the senate also have a lot to answer for#they're full of ghouls#jill stein is a putin puppet#voting third party is a waste#democrat#republican#centrist#moderate#liberal#conservative#social democrat#project 2025#stop project 2025#agenda 47#project 2025 is a serious and real problem#please keep this in mind#it will hurt us all and especially over there#we won't be much good over here to help them if it gets implemented#keep trump out of office

Trying very very very very hard not to go all doomer over the election results
#I don't. I don't think I can talk to other people at the moment. I've lost almost all trust#I should mention that every person in political power from my state to my county to my city are now all Republicans#All with stated policies to get rid of trans people and implement a whole lot of other horrible stuff#As a trans person I don't feel safe#As an afab person I don't feel safe#I don't know if I want to *be* around people anymore after this#It feels like any hope I had of being able to transition or live happily in my body just got tossed out the window#Trying very hard to get my brain to not convince itself that I'm just. Dead. Just completely dead.#It feels like my death is fast approaching and inevitable and will be the result of actions and legislation upon me and others#And will not be on my terms#I want to keep living#I don't want to get killed or irreversible injured or assaulted for existing in public#But that risk has now increased exponentially#And it was already high to begin with#I feel betrayed but I'm not sure by who exactly#Because the people who did this were never on my side#But somehow it feels like I got double crossed in some way#I don't. I don't even feel safe just sitting here in my room

so there's an image making rounds on my dash, sometimes presented sincerely and sometimes being criticized. it's pissing me off, and I'm here to add to the criticism in my own words
sigh.
you know what? let's talk about the trolley problem.
there's a thing about it that's made as endlessly memeable as it's become lately, and it's that on the surface it's very intuitive. one person dying isn't as bad as five people dying, right. why're we calling this a "dillema", again?
the thing is, pulling the lever makes you directly responsible for the one death, and letting the trolley roll on along doesn't. or, well -- does it? that is the question. if you do nothing when you could, because you value your personal honor more -- then are you still, in some sense, responsible for not lowering the death toll? it only seems simple because it's a theorical exercise precisely intended to raise these kinds of questions before someone's staring down an emergency that genuinely requires them to make difficult decisions.
this here, though? it's pretty much the opposite of thinking about one's personal responsibility -- it's wishing it away. this is a gaggle of USamericans saying to Palestine, "your deaths will be tragic, but they're a price I'm willing to pay".
something tells me that the side that says, don't be doing anything reckless, keep your head down and accept the status quo -- is not the side that's advocating for pulling the lever. it's the side that's preparing itself to argue for why it's not really their fault that the trolley killed five people. after all, the glorious lever-pulling revolution hasn't manifested itself out of nowhere just yet, so how would the lever be pulled? I bet you wouldn't really pull a lever at the Walmart if the chips were down, tough-talker.
look -- you have months and months until the election. I'm not asking you to overthrow the US government overnight (but hey, shoot for the moon). all I'm saying is, you're the ones closest to the core. you can throw your lot in. you can do something, anything, no matter how small, no matter how token. there's an infinite amount of ways to be politically active between "firebomb a Walmart" and "just shut up and vote". you can either start asking yourself what you could do -- or you could at least stop pretending like your political apathy is a principled stance.
#my stupid text posts#like I don't say any of this to the exclusion of voting. by all means keep the republicans out#but the election is much later this year. what are you doing until then -- accepting its tasteless inevitability?#does your civic responsibility begin and end at the one event?
