2024 Retrospective: Most Underrated Comeback

PURPLE KISS – ON MY BIKE

It’s just really badass. It also sounds complete, which is not something you can say about many other songs that were released this year. It does seem to be thrown together at the last moment though. Regardless it’s a banger and a far cry from BBB, which was kind of underwhelming really. I hope they can get their first win in 2025.

Honourable Mentions:

RESCENE – Love Attack

I was actually planning on awarding this song, but then the Grammys released their “K-Pop Songs that electrified 2024” list and mentioned it and Billboard also named SCENEDROME as one of the Top 25 Albums of the year, and I thought: “Hey, it’s more popular than I thought.” Good for them, really. This was my anthem of the summer. It’s cute, it’s refreshing, it’s catchy and the styling is good. Their label really seems to know how to promote them.

New:ID – GHOST

While I don’t really understand where they came from, I do really like this song. It’s appropriately dramatic and reminds me more of 2nd Gen music. There are some cringy lyrics, but they don’t damper my enjoyment of the song.

BOY STORY – Alpha

I can’t believe there are two songs I can name now, that mention Alpha/Omega stuff. And sure, it might be a little cringy, but the song is just a massive bop. It’s cool and the kids (the oldest member is only 19) all seem very talented.

KAVE – Legend

Gaho, my beloved. His voice really fits well with rock music and this song is just a banger. I feel like some people might not give this a chance, because they don’t like K-Rock, but there are some great vocalists in the genre and now we also have Gaho, so your argument is invalid.
