Honestly in season 5 they just used the poor excuse of "Sawyer jumped out of the helicopter because he had fear of the real life/kate had the broken heart because of his abandonment" to block the return of Skate, because a smart viewer can tell that is not at all true (Sawyer jumped out because he decided to sacrifice himself for Kate's happiness)

I just finished binge-watching Lost, and it was okay. I know nobody really cares about my opinion, but I need to get this off my chest because the way people described the relation between Juliet x Sawyer x Kate and what I actually saw were completely different. Can you believe my surprise when I saw that Sawyer couldn't keep his eyes off Kate, even though he hadn't seen her in three years and was in a relationship with Juliet! I was expecting to witness one of the greatest love stories of all time, given how everyone talked about Sawyer and Juliet's relationship.I was told that Juliet was Sawyer's true love, and yet he couldn't help but call Kate "freckles" and look at her with so much affection, even in front of his supposed soulmate.

Sawyer crying during and after Juliet's death and expressing his desire to marry her doesn't automatically make her his soulmate, despite what people say. That man was literally looking at Kate tenderly a couple of hours before Juliet's death and her dying didn't make him change his habits! a day after Juliet's death the heart eyes were back!

People were/are saying that it was just sex between Sawyer and Kate, but it wasn't just sex!! it was some BOMB ASS SEX!! cause baby, that man clearly couldn't forget their first f***k nor their last f***k!! The sex was so outstanding that he fell head over heels in love with her to the point of not being able to stop looking lovingly at her even in front of his long-term girlfriend/soulmate, or get her out of his mind and heart. Just telling it like it is !!!

idk what it is but canon couples are always slightly less appealing to me than the ones that aren’t explicity canon. it’s something about picking two characters because you love their dynamic and rooting for them even though you know it probably won’t happen.
