1. What's your phone wallpaper? A photo of my irl boyfriend! Not posting it here for his own privacy but I promise you he looks very hot

2. Favorite singer? Our king of kings and captain of captains, Aurelio Voltaire

3. Favorite band? Nightwish! They honestly changed my life and their album Imaginearum came out at a moment when I needed it the most.

4. Favorite character of all time? Dear fucking lord this is a tough one. Everyone who follows me knows I adore Charles, but he's my favorite in the sense that I want to be with him! Regarding characters whom I relate to or otherwise embody what I'd like to be, there's too many of them to count.

5. Favorite book? A kidlit novel called La Domadora de Miedos by Guadalupe Alemán Lascurain. Not terribly obscure, but I doubt you'll find it outside of Mexico.

6. Favorite movie? Oh god. Again I can't decide on only one from my top four. It's tie between Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), Imaginaerum (2012), The Little Prince (2015), and Kubo and the Two Strings (2016). Although Labyrinth (1986) is steadily climbing its way to have this become a top five lmao

7. Favorite actor/actress? I don't know enough about them to really feel drawn to any in particular tbh

8. Favorite YouTuber? This thing is really set out to be a nightmare for indecisive people right? For fun facts and education I love Ask A Mortician. For recipes I really dig Adam Ragusea and Super Pilopi. For witchcraft/spirituality I like Solitude of Alanna. Gonna stop there cause I also follow a handful of art-oriented channels and I couldn't even begin to choose just one.

9. Do you drink? Nope, but I like taking weed edibles now and then

10. If you were an animal what would you be? A mouse or a rat because I want to be carried inside somebody's pocket

on my way home a couple days ago i biked past what looked like some kind of film shoot. i was biking pretty fast so i just caught glimpses of this couple who were being filmed and the woman had long curly blonde hair.

and since then i’ve just been ???? because i know they’re filming season 3 of karppi right now. this old shop building had been converted into what looked like a pop-up art installation/gallery and they had a bunch of extras outside the gallery and huge film lights on the couple (it was evening and we’re living in the midst of kaamos so like... yes.)

i’m so annoyed that i didn’t slow down and stop to watch what they were doing a while down the road because i definitely would’ve recognized pihla viitala :/ but it was so dark outside and also so bizarre to bike through a film set all of a sudden that it only registered when i was back home. and my impulse was also to bike quickly so that i would be out of the shot. i guess i’ll only know if the scene appears in season 3.

Hello, we are watching Deadwind on Netflix. In the episode where the girl Henna and that boy Kalle kiss, they are standing outside in like an art display of lamps? Like outdoor lamp sculptures that look like indoor lamps. Do you know where in helsinki the silly lamps are?

I haven't seen Deadwind (Karppi) myself, so I couldn't find the scene in question. I tried looking, but I'm afraid I don't even know what the lamps look like and I'm not super familiar with Helsinki. :/ Can you tell me which season and which episode this was?

Or maybe one of my followers knows?

Summary: When his beloved coffee in the morning hurt his abused stomach in a way Nurmi couldn't stand anymore, he didn't go see a doctor. Instead, he applied for a transfer to the homicide department, hoping that a little change of scenery would help him yet again to get a grip on his life. Mask on, mask off

We can all probably agree that the past year was somewhat challenging. 

While working on the creative field is always pretty unpredictable, the roaming pandemic took things and the whole industry to a whole new level.

In the spring of 2020 the industry stopped. Almost all the productions got either paused or completely post-poned and it felt like the only productions still running were the news and the Finnish soap opera Secret Lives. 

Luckily both the goverment and the industry were quick to react and after a brief lockdown (which felt like forever) productions began starting up slowly again. The pandemic made everyone create new working methods to secure safety while filming and I think the make-up and costume departments were the ones really going through a change. 

We learned how to guide the actors through walkie talkies to fix their costumes on set, distanced ourselves in the dressing room, created very specific instructions for the extras to avoid the whole dressing up process on set and last but not least learned how to put the mics on the actors (hats off to the sound team, you’re amazing!).

That being said, I feel myself lucky to have been able to work in such great productions despite the challenging year. In the summer I got together with the brilliant genious and another gang member Kaisa to film the second season of Aikuiset. I designed a sequel to the Swedish highschool comedy Virala Genier and after the summer I hopped straight to the third season of the crime series Deadwind.

Even though the new ways of working challenged everyone and forced people to break their old habits, I feel like some of the new methods were a very welcomed changes in our industry (wearing a mask NOT being one of them…). 

Having some challenges with the visibility... Gotta love the combo of a mask & eye glasses!

The way how the whole industry stood up together to take actions to fight the pandemic and defend our creative work showed how passionate and most of all innovative people I’m lucky to call my colleagues are. 

For me the new year starts with a little breather and time to figure out what challenges to tackle next.

I hope things will get back to normal soon and we can all get together and celebrate the amazing creativity of the art of film making and most of all the powerful and loving community! (a girl can always dream, right?).

So here’s to the new year and the new exciting productions and adventures to come! 🥂
