Surprise Scarlet Nexus Reunion in Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions?
While I only watched the Scarlet Nexus anime, I was surprised to learn about a surprise Scarlet Nexus reunion in Episode 17 of Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions (also known as Ron Kamonohashi Deranged Detective)
Both Toto and Yuito are voiced by Junya Enoki.
The manager of the snack shop (and the obvious culprit) is voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama who also voiced Karen Travers.
If you have played (or watched) Scarlet Nexus, what do you think about this?

How much more strain does Karen's brain undergo each time his power is used? The sheer stress of retaining and integrating foreign abilities, much less consuming them? Each time he pushes himself to the limit, does it worsen the severity?
Does he lock himself in his office when the agony is too much to bear? Do his fingers twitch against his will when they aren't digging into the chair's armrest? Does he clench his jaw hard enough to scrape his teeth together? Do his feet scramble around the floor beneath and around the chair, desperately seeking an anchor strong enough to hold him in place?
Within the throes of a grand mal -- not even a petite mal, no -- the experiments were not kind enough to grant him even that-- he convulses and writhes in his seat. His limbs will not respond; Karen cannot secure himself, cannot even -- he can't -- but the door is locked. Mercifully. He can't let anyone-- Luka -- see him like this. Can't allow Luka to watch his body burn. His brother has been through enough-- let him think that Karen is fine. Just -- fine -- and it will be enough.
He bites down on his tongue -- Karen never means to, much less wants to -- it just -- it happens. He'll clean up his face. Later. But he HAS to stifle the noise. Whatever escapes his lips. He can't allow anyone to see him like this. He's a Septentrion -- he HAS to be strong, he's one of the best -- nobody needs to know. Nobody has to know what goes on behind closed doors.
The damn migraines are hard enough to deal with! Karen doesn't need the shame. Nor does he want any pity. If anyone were to discover that he was a dud -- if they had any suspicions -- the seizures would be the very thing to out him. The scorn -- the fucking scorn, because "ooh, duds aren't human, they're inferior!"-- he won't deal with THAT. Far better if he suffers in silence. Alone. If he's more terse than usual, well, maybe the top brass is just putting too much on his shoulders as usual -- par for the course. It's perfectly understandable; every Septentrion deals with that. The easiest excuse in this whole damn shell of a world!
... It isn't like anyone will care.

Those in italics have five or more pieces of usable visual, written, or audio propaganda already. If you have any visuals like photos or videos, or if you have something to say in words, submit it to this blog before round one begins on June 25th!
If you don't see a name you submitted here, it's because most or all of their career was as a child/they were too young for the cutoff, their career was almost entirely after 1979, or music was something they only dabbled in and are hardly known for. There are quite a few ladies on the list whose primary career wasn't "recording artist" or "live musician," but released several albums or were in musical theater, so they've been accepted.
#long post#miss billboard tourney#i wasn't originally going to list them all but i decided to do so because there are so many without propaganda

"close your mouth, please, Michael. we are not a codfish." - Mary Poppins
in Edwardian London, George Banks (David Tomlinson) struggles to manage his mischievous children, Jane and Michael. after their latest nanny resigns, the magical and enchanting Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews) arrives to bring order to the household. with the help of her fun-loving friend Bert (Dick Van Dyke), Mary takes the children on whimsical adventures, teaching them important lessons along the way.
read my review below (may contains spoiler):
rewatched July 1st, 2023 on Google TV
Mary Poppins is one of the favourite movies that I watched during childhood, and it still holds a special place in my heart. watching it as a kid felt like stepping into a magical world where anything is possible. I remember wishing I could be one of the children in the story, going on adventures with Mary Poppins and Bert. this movie was more than just a story. it was a whole experience. even now, when I rewatch it, it feels like I’m revisiting a happy, magical part of my childhood. the imaginative scenes in this movie are unforgettable. I wanted to jump into a painting and explore a colourful cartoon world, just like Jane and Michael did. that part was so exciting! and who wouldn’t want to ride on a merry-go-round that comes to life? the whimsical blend of real life and fantasy makes this movie truly unique. back then, I was amazed by how real it all seemed, and even now, it never fails to make me smile. I think Mary Poppins shaped my childhood dreams in so many ways. I remember wishing I could float up to the ceiling while laughing or have magical powers like Mary. the way she makes ordinary things extraordinary is so inspiring. it’s not just about the magic, though; it’s about how she teaches the children (and adults) to see life differently. watching this movie reminds me that sometimes, all you need is a little imagination to make life feel special.
the songs are absolutely timeless. I love every single one of them, but my favourite is Chim Chim Cher-ee. it’s so catchy and I the tap dance on the rooftop during Step in Time. I also love how the music adds to the magic of the story. every song feels like it belongs perfectly in the scene it’s in. back then, I used to confuse Mary Poppins with Bedknobs and Broomsticks because both movies are so magical and creative ahaha. even after so many years, this movie doesn’t feel old or outdated. it’s a timeless classic that I can watch over and over again without getting bored. I think that’s because it’s not just a movie; it’s a celebration of imagination, kindness, and joy. it’s one of those rare stories that can make me laugh, cry, and dream all at the same time. no matter how old I get, Mary Poppins will always have a special place in my heart. overall, Mary Poppins is more than just a movie. it’s an experience that shaped part of my childhood. it’s magical, heartwarming, and full of life lessons. I always finish it feeling happy and inspired. this movie is a must-watch for anyone who loves a bit of magic in their life or revisit their childhood.
final verdict: I totally loved it!!

Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions Episode 17 Review - Beach Date With Mofu
The end of a case means the start of a new one! Why is it that whenever Ron and Toto try to go somewhere, whether it be a date or for work, murder mysteries just have to cockblock or even be a third wheel? I know it’s the premise of the story, but can’t these two have some fun without someone dying? It makes them look like a misfortune magnet.
It’s also nice to see Dr. Mofu again! Her clumsiness is seriously on par with Ron and Toto’s misfortune magnet. Heck, even her phone is looking worse than it did back in Episode 6. How can that thing still function with all those cracks? Anyways, Mofu’s role in the story to make Ron a medicine where it suppresses his condition. However, because it’s filled with substances that can be dangerous when mixed in together, Mofu has to be there to witness Ron taking it so he won’t endanger himself. Oh and she moved to his apartment complex as a new tenant because her previous place was almost destroyed because of her. Damn, just how much of a klutz can she be? Oh and Mofu is revealed to know Ron’s secret as he told her. It was sweet when she said that she supports them. She’s such a sweetie.
It’s sweet that Toto wanted Ron to have some R&R and suggested the beach as he didn’t want to listen to the rest of Ron’s bucket list. I just find his care for Ron so endearing. It’s nice that he also recommended that Spitz should come along, but he doesn’t seem like he did as the beach trip was only Ron, Toto and Mofu. Maybe he’s somewhere in the shadows like he usually is?
I’m actually surprised to see a beach episode where there isn’t that much fan service. The only real fan service was Mofu wearing a swimsuit and she rocked it alongside the platypus outfit. Toto also had an image of Ron wearing a platypus outfit for fan service too. I guess the biggest fan service was Ron and Toto holding hands as the former dragged the latter to the concerned surfers.

The murder mystery for this two-parter is about a surfer who drowned. Apparently, he had food poisoning from the food shop and wanted to settle things but never came back. This made his friends worried. Ron noticed that the surfer was wearing a dry suit, which is more suitable for a diver and not a surfer. I am afraid of water, so I absolutely am afraid of drowning, so seeing him drown in the beginning and then seeing the aftermath of it was a bit scary on my part. The culprit is obviously the store manager as he’s definitely responsible. He should be fired or have his store closed down because why the heck is he serving expired eggs to customers? Is he purposely trying to poison people? And it’s obvious that the murder had to do something with ice as all of his shaved ice disappeared when it hasn’t been the afternoon yet and the beach isn’t even that crowded. Definitely fishy.
Also, I’m always surprised with how this anime casts big named voice actors as very minor characters that are either the culprit or die off. For example, Episode 6 had Kenta Miyake as Torao, Episode 10 had Sayaka Senbongi, Maaya Uchida and Yui Ishikawa as those three girls from the cafe incident, and Katsuyuki Konishi as Spitz’s missing brother. I’m sure anime fans definitely recognize those names. For this episode, the manager is voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama, whom you may know as Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho and Adult Link from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. What’s funny is that he was also in Scarlet Nexus as Karen Travers so this episode is a mini-Scarlet Nexus reunion as Toto is voiced by Junya Enoki who also voiced Yuito. One of the two surfer friends is voiced by Kentaro Kumagai, who has been a rising star lately as he voiced Laios from Delicious In Dungeon.
Anyways, I’m surprised this is a two-parter. It did feel as if it should be one episode, but I guess the production staff wanted to extend it. I guess it’s better to extend cases rather than rush everything and make it be odd. What do you think about this episode?

Alors.

Africa - a place of longing

“Born Free” tells the true story of the lioness Elsa in Kenya in the mid-1950s, who was raised by humans (Joy and George Adamson) and then released back into the wild. Elsa viewed the people who raised her as her family and impressively showed how affectionate and loving those powerful and strong species can be. However, through contact with humans, Elsa never learned to survive in the harsh African wilderness. In order to be free and not have to live in a zoo, her hunting instinct had to be awakened so that she could feed herself in the wild. This learning process was often painful for Elsa, because in the wilderness there is a merciless law that only the strong, fast or experienced survive. Finally, Elsa became the first lion successfully released back into the wild, the first to have contact after release with humans, and the first known released lion to have a litter of cubs. The Adamsons kept their distance from the cubs, getting close enough only to photograph them.
In January 1961, Elsa died from babesiosis, a disease resulting from a tick bite. Her three young cubs became a nuisance, killing the livestock of local farmers. The Adamsons, who feared the farmers might kill the cubs, were able to eventually capture them and transport them to neighboring Tanganyika (today called Tanzania), where they were promised a home at Serengeti National Park. The descendants of the lioness Elsa probably still wander through the African savannah today. Joy Adamson (a native Austrian) wrote down her experiences with the lioness Elsa in a book - a bestseller that sold millions of copies and was also made into a film in 1966. There was also a multi-part television series in the early 1970s.
The Adamsons dedicated their lives to the conservation of African lions, and it cost them dearly. When Joy Adamson died in 1980, it was falsely reported that she was killed by a lion, when in fact she had been murdered by a disgruntled ex-employee. George Adamson was murdered nine years later, while rushing to the aid of a tourist who was being attacked by poachers. The tourist survived, but he gave his life to his cause.
„It was nearly a week before we returned. We found her waiting, and very hungry. She was full of affection; we had deceived her so often, broken faith with her, done so much to destroy her trust in us, yet she remained loyal.“
-Joy Adamson about Elsa after a trial to accustom her to the wild
Sometimes we make life-changing experiences. After acting in the movie „Born Free“, Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers founded the „Born Free Foundation“ and dedicated a great part of their life to the goal to put wild animals where they belong: in the wild!

The “Serengeti” in Tanzania became a household name through the countless television programs by Professor Dr. Grzimek (director of the Frankfurt Zoo from 1945 to 1974) on German TV. He introduced us to the diverse world of wild animals, but also to the need of the conservation of their habitats. Unforgettable also the Oscar winning documentary film „Serengeti Shall Not Die“ („Serengeti Darf Nicht Sterben“) - filmed by him and his son Michael. The “Serengeti” was Grzimek’s heart project - he was heavily involved in the preservation of this unique habitat for wild animals.
„But when fifty years from now, a lion walks into the red dawn and roars resoundingly, it will mean something to people and quicken their hearts wether they Africans or Europeans, or wether they speak English, German, Russian or Swahili. They will stand in quiet awe as, for the first time in their lives, they watch twenty thousand zebras wander across the endless plains.“
-Dr. Bernhard Grzimek about the Serengeti, 1959

As a teenager grown up in the 1980s, “Out of Africa” cannot be missing from the list of films about Africa - the film adaptation of Karen Blixen's world-famous novel about her life on a coffee plantation in Kenya.
„I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the Ngong Hills. The Equator runs across these highlands, a hundred miles to the north, and the farm lay at an altitude of over six thousand feet. In the day-time you felt that you had got high up; near to the sun, but the early mornings and evenings were limpid and restful, and the nights were cold.“
-Karen Blixen - words that express the longing for the described place
All these films were an inspiration to see lions, elephants and other wild animals in their natural habitat and these magic landscapes with own eyes. We will start in 3 weeks ….Africa: Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia - then next year South Africa. After that we will see where the wind blows us next.
