what is your favorite fgo servant?
It has to be her.
Asagami Fujino is one of my absolute favorite characters in fiction. While anyone who has seen her source material is able to understand her as a sympathetic villain, she only makes a major appearance in her dedicated film, Kara no Kyoukai 3: Tsuukaku Zanryuu (Remaining Sense of Pain). Her inability to feel pain has left her emotionally dulled and she has difficulty relating to others, even though she desperately wants to. Anyone who has seen this movie will have a grasp on her personality characteristics, something I feel I can relate to.
Below is an excerpt from her profile in Fate/Grand Order.
Possessing feminine mannerisms, verbal expressions and personality, but her hobbies are something far removed from girlish tastes. She prefers dark things that one can secretly enjoy alone, such as viewing horror movies. The person herself will not be aware of this until the end, but she has a latent predisposition to sadism. This is the reason why she becomes cruel, coldhearted, of bad taste as soon as she is driven to a corner.
In Remaining Sense of Pain, Fujino commits a string of murders against people that are aware of her ability to twist anything, a cruel form of telekinesis. She says that she doesn't want to hurt anyone, but she does secretly enjoy it.
Her addition to Fate/Grand Order is, by the game's admission, peculiar.
A temporary Servant manifested by the Counter Force for the purpose of acting against the incineration of humanity.
The era that Fujino lived in was turned to ash by the incineration of the anthropic principle. She too was burned to ashes, but her peculiarity was not overlooked by the Counter Force of the world. The Alaya-shiki adopted her superpower as a military asset for the sake of overturning the incineration of the anthropic principle and she was summoned by Chaldea as a transient Servant. For her, this current self is nothing but a "dream". Just like Shiki, this is an illusion of a single night that she is seeing just before being burned to ashes, and which will simply disappear if the incineration of the anthropic principle is not overturned. A person with normal sensitivities would fall in a state confusion and panic, but Fujino has smoothly accepted this abnormality. She perfectly understands her position as someone summoned as a Servant and probably will endeavor to help the Master, within the limits of what she can do.
The game essentially keeps her a secret, and her only appearance was, for the longest time, her initial banner on the Kara no Kyoukai collab event rerun. Even during this event, she does not appear in its story. Her first story appearance would not be until years later, during Summer 5 (Servant Summer Camp) where she plays the role of a ghost girl. In the epilogue of this event, we are afforded a rare glimpse into her sweet side, as she takes the protagonist, Ritsuka Fujimaru, on a date.
There are actually three endings to Fujino's date, and you can view all of them here.
There's also gameplay reasons. Her defensive skill, Remaining Sense of Pain A, makes her virtually immune to potshots offered by most enemy normal attacks for a solid 3/5 turns. Meanwhile, her main offensive skill, Mystic Eyes of Distortion EX, gives her access to defense-ignoring on a skill, which is quite rare. All of her skills, actually, last three turns. To put it simply, at higher levels, she becomes an ultimate combination of offense and defense, I find.
In conclusion, I love her, and I love fighting beside her.
Next time you see her, please treat her well.

I’m not really sure what I should watch next, in terms of anime. I’ve got multiple possibilities, some of which I’m definitely going to watch sooner rather than later, but I’m somewhat lost on what’s really going to be my jam next.
So far, my possibilities are:
• Violet Evergarden movie #1 (Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll) — this is one I’m definitely going to watch
• Kara no Kyoukai #8 (Epilogue)
• Spice & Wolf season 2
• RahXephon
• Sailor Moon R — at least, the first chunk of it….
• Wolf’s Rain
• FSN Heaven’s Feel trilogy
I just have no idea what I’m going to like….

i really love all the little parallels and contrasts sprinkled between their profiles?
girl vs woman, masculine gestures vs feminine ones, abnormal in a normal world vs normal in an abnormal world, involved in bizarre incidents and cuts them down vs knows about bizarre incidents and takes no part in them.
An urban legend out of a slasher film who prowls the streets vs a perfectly normal young woman you might encounter on a sleepy snowy night.
#Fate Grand Order#Ryougi Shiki#shiki ryougi#kara no kyoukai#Void Shiki#the garden of sinners#god i just… love shiki so much. knk is dear to my heart and shiki is one of my big faves#im so glad void came home as i've wanted more content of her ever since i watched the epilogue film with her and mikiya#legit considering grailing her to 100 even tho i planned that for astolfo#ITS ABOUT SENDING A MESSAGE

extremely cruel F/sn hybrid read-watch order concept: Jammed Shotgun
read it normally, except every time a heroic identity is revealed, pause to read the most prominent text from which the figure is drawn. if the figure is only attested to by historic accounts, read the historic account most relevant to them before resuming.
halfway through UBW, reread Fate Route and stop before the ending. resume UBW.
during the Die Lorelei scene, begin Fate/Zero. after the first 10 episodes, watch an episode of Emiya Gohan after each episode of Zero to represent Shirou coming to terms with Kiritsugu. pause at episode 18 and read Tsukihime. resume Zero/Emiya Gohan alternation. resume Heaven's Feel.
before the Heaven's Feel true ending epilogue, stop to watch all of the Kara no Kyoukai films. resume true ending.

Kara no Kyoukai Epilogue: Literally thirty straight minutes of philosophical navel-gazing in the middle of a silent snowy evening. We have officially reached peak Nasu, folks.
#anime#the anime binge-watcher#tabw#kara no kyoukai#garden of sinners#the garden of sinners#tbh I appreciate the confidence#they had a Concept(tm)#and they stuck with it#also I like how the reason Shiki's attracted to Mikiya is BECAUSE he's so boring#dude's so utterly standard that he literally could not be safer to be around#and is thus the most stable and comforting presence in Shiki's life#I can't tell if that's genius or crazy#but I kind of love it

I could either try to do my dailies for granblue and try to plead for Celeste to drop shit for me
or I can continue writing.
I just finished Kara no Kyoukai 7 and epilogue and I’m slightly confused but tvtropes has given me a gist, kinda.
I kinda get it.
I’ll watch the last two tomorrow.

bersercu replied to your photo “theres something about this line i cant quite grasp… why doesn’t she...”
shiki doesnt start eating ice cream until mikiya keeps buying it for her so it's a symbol of the bond between those two
hmm, thats an interpretation i could buy, except that implies that void shiki doesn’t care about mikiya the same way normal shiki does? Which doesn’t seem to jive with how her literal only two appearances in the series are to talk to him, or how she offers to step outside of her self imposed role as an observer just once to use her power to heal his eye. I guess its true though that given her nature, its impossible for her to have a close relationship with him the same way normal shiki does… hmmm……
#bersercu#Fate Grand Order#kara no kyoukai#Ryougi Shiki#Mikiya Kokutou#Void Shiki#type moon#makes sense…#although if the mention of ice cream is symbolic of mikiya and shiki's relationship it's weird she mentions it as something she doesnt like…#since by al accounts in the epilogue she seemed pretty happy with him/for them#really thinking about it tho i think it does tie into her nature as The Root and how that makes it impossible#for her to have the sweet and simple romance like ice cream that normal shiki and mikiya have#HMMMMM………

What do you think of Musashi?
Musashi is a character that’s hard to comment on because she’s a main character to FGO’s overarching plot and she’s currently at a moment where I have absolutely no idea where her character arc will go, so expect this to be even more disorganized than my usual responses.
Another thing that makes her hard to evaluate is the fact I am a Niten Ichi-ryuu student, making Miyamoto Musashi a figure I have a much personal interaction with. One thing I can tell from my experiences is that Musashi-sensei’s teachings are much more interesting than the man’s life. The golden times in my dojo tells anecdotes of many samurais, but never our founder sensei himself, with the content about him being usually stuff from The Book of Five Rings instead of about him directly.
Nasu is clearly very familiar with The Book of Five Rings since the old days of Kara no Kyoukai, as evidence by the concepts of Void present through Shiki’s character, and its attachment to the Root (and arguably the Root itself, but I believe that one ties deeper into Zen and the origin of martial arts), so it’s unsurprising in hindsight that Musashi turned out to be a main character in the biggest Fate/ game, or that her Material profile is triple the size of an average one. What did surprise me is that Nasu seems to share my thoughts on Musashi’s writing vs Musashi’s life, as Nasu took a really roundabout route to make Musashi into a character that faithfully represents the contents of the Book of Five Rings while being almost completely dissociated from the real-life events of the dueling vagabond. He didn’t go all the way, as she still has quite a bit of her IRL counterpart thuggishness, but I can really respect the middle ground he arrived at.
Overall Musashi is a really fun character for mostly the same reasons Nero is. The two really have the same energy and it’s no wonder they both got their reputation as Sakurai’s favorite. Her Nasu original lore is that she trained the sword to spite her sexist father for not wanting to train her, which surely contains a big statement I’m not clearly seeing. Eventually she became the timeline-drifting wuxia hero we know her as, and her original timeline got eventually pruned as either a Missing Belt or a Lostbelt (her mats claim the latter, but that has huge implications, and I don’t want to derail this into another Animusphereposting rabbit hole). Either way, the key point of her arc is that she lost a place to come back to, and continues to pursue her journey of self-improvement as a way of distracting herself from the dreadfully looming question: “What next?” Her being gone for good after reaching the peak she strived for is fine ending to this arc, but not nearly as satisfying as her finding a new thing to live for. My personal theory is that we’ll be seeing Musashi with Fujimaru in the “next cycle” epilogue.
