PERSONALITY: Excruciatingly laid back, Sun-Wukong mixes a borderline unprofessional demeanour with well harnessed skill at diplomacy and management. He’s intelligent but enjoys playing dumb, perhaps a little too well sometimes, and the grin of delight is palpable at others twisted irritation because of his irresponsible nature and playful antics. Yet he never fails to step up when needed, enjoying the almost panicked sense of worry of those around him that his senior position could mean less than a good gag or a well earned nap.

Underpinning all of this is a mean streak a mile long, the wicked cruelty of a prankster without a leash and a desire to seek out others weaknesses. Power is enjoyed but not necessarily flaunted, unless of course he knows it would drive that individual to madness. There is a sweetness for those close but also a bitterness over those coveted and a very masculine trait: weakness for what he desires.    

HISTORY: Having bestowed centuries of mayhem and mischief on the mortal world, Wukong is tired. He is not often well received by other deities in his line, and this has led to a rather isolated existence. Morally ambiguous, Wukong had balanced his mischief and trickery with a love of science and medicine. As times evolved so did his craft, herbal remedies gave way to the understanding of microbes and DNA, before finally there were x-rays and cosmetic procedures and all of it was fascinating.

Wukong is not driven so much by a need to help, especially not mortals, but more a need to understand. Each illness has a diagnosis and with that the pieces of the puzzle begin to fit. He moved from hospital to hospital, province to province across the great expanse of China as time elapsed, encountering mysteries and new technologies feeding understanding as he goes.

All the while the home of his kind evades him. His arrogance around mortals only matched by his discomfort around other Chinese gods, years of dark thoughts about his inability to fit in with them worsened over time alone. His self imposed outcast status weighing heavy… until a certain head hunting email hits his inbox. A hospital for demigods requiring an Administrative Director, well now there was an opportunity he could not pass up. A whole new world of science and medicine to explore, with no one telling him what to do. Or so he thought, having not realised Assistants were not optional.

POWERS: Hints of spells such as telekinesis to move or manipulate objects at will, levitation or the cause of minor confusion all in the aid of devious little pranks.

STRENGTHS:

He’s likable. He pairs a carefree smile with a few genuinely friendly remarks and harnesses well honed interpersonal skills.

Medical skill - he can back it up.

When ‘work mode’ is activated he is the Director everyone dreamed he would be. Resourceful, diplomatic and authoritative.

WEAKNESSES:

He’s lazy, and can be impossible to motivate. Impromptu naps are frequent.

Someone attractive can derail him from nearly any assigned task (a horndog/possibly a perverted ahjussi).

His work/life balance is not harmonious and causes many a grown man tantrum about his lack of social life. Yet he is the one committing to the life of a work-a-holic.
