Day 26: Which character do you wish a performer had played?

Oh holy hell. How am I meant to answer this with only one choice? Well... they didn't say only one. So buckle in folks. We're about to go on a Fantasy-Casting ride. I will, however, stick to one character per performer. I like having a few rules with these diatribes.

There have been multiple discussions about what we would love to see when it comes to gender bending the characters, or various other situations. Because this opens up so many cans of worms I might as well be that room in the tenements with all the cutlery... I'm going to stick to the gender presentations Punchdrunk assigned, stick with the general choreography, so lifts are required, and only list out roles where the performer could easily have picked up that role.

Sidenote: I am solidly of the opinion that every performer should have been given the opportunity to play Kampe at least once. Put them in a PVC outfit with various amounts of fabric missing and let them go. But, the ones listed below are the ones for specific reasons. Rob McNeill as Hades - Can you imagine the perfectly managed chaos? Rob's performances as Laocoön and Agamemnon were so varied in tone and content, I would love to see him take on Hades.

Eléonore Cabrera as Iphigenia - We saw the sweet, playful, romantic side of Eléonore as Eurydice, and the merciless, manipulative side of her performance as Artemis. Seeing those combined in Iphigenia as she went through her transformation would have been stunning. Eléonore has the most beautiful control of her facial expressions, and I'm always imagining the Ciaccos scene between Iphigenia and Patroclus, and how she would have made it something formidable.

Seirian Griffiths as Kampe - The man is practically made of water anyway, so who better to play a water-snake demon? Seirian was fantastic for developing his roles and testing different movements. Plus, I did hear that this role was the one he wanted to do, so I can only imagine how much fun he would have had with this chaos. Just imagine Crown...

Lou Ditaranto as Polyxena - Lou would have made an incredible Polyxena. Her aerial work in the town square, her Fury transformation, it would have been jaw-droppingly beautiful and emotional, filled with vengeful rage we could all get behind.

Georges Hann as Patroclus - Let's face it. We would have died. Every audience member following him would have laid down and died in grief the moment Neoptolemus fails to save a Georges Patroclus. The black masks would turn up to the tent maze entrance to find a grief massacre. Georges emotional control (or complete lack of it) as Apollo, his stunning dancing, would have made him an obvious choice for the role of Patroclus, in my opinion.

Ingrid Kapteyn as Artemis - Not only would Ingrid have made Artemis' hinterlands dances look so entirely effortless that it was verging on divinity, but I think she would have had so much fun in the lightning battle, going up against Apollo in a battle that slowly becomes a game, kind of in the opposite of the Cassandra scene in Klub with Apollo.

Isaac Ouro-Gnao as Neoptolemus - There was a lot of talk about Isaac as Patroclus, but having seen more of his solo work, I would love to see him as Neoptolemus.

Steven Apicello as Kampe - There was a Kampaign about it and everything. It would have been perfection.

I could keep going, but I think this is enough for now. Maybe I'll do a post with more wishlist castings at some point.

i do wish you could choose other fighters to be your secondary fighter in normal ass fighter mode instead of requiring it to be a kameo character. they allow main fighters to be secondaries in the kampaign mode, but why they ONLY allow it in kampaign mode i have no idea

My specialty isn’t dragging the hard Kay theories on this blog - though at some point we have to talk about that time Joss Whedon’s 2008 TV show Dollhouse entered the chat - that’s usually on babes like @karliesbuzzcut @kaylorfails and such but this one is so ridiculous I kinda have to chime in:

1) ALL THREE WOMEN ARE WEARING ORANGE. Are they all poly together? Why can’t one of the other women be orange girl? WHY CAN’T TAYLOR BE DATING ALEXIS WILLIAMS OR ELYSHA ANG?? Like is any person in orange dating Taylor Swift? I’m wearing (Addidas) leggings with orange on them RIGHT NOW... AM I DATING TAYLOR!?

2) Is it really all that likely she had THAT much creative control (kontrol?) of the shoot? Like sure it’s her kollection and all but do we think she was running about the set trying to get Shaniqwa to sow klues? How would she go about explaining that, like irl. “Shaniqwa babe I know this shoot is all about sustainability and empowering young women and stuff but can we quickly reference my sekrit wife’s music video from a couple years ago? But not explicitly, don’t say anything, just like through... a kouple klues. Thanks babe!”

3) On the note above it’s highkey bizarre that the best stuff about this kampaign - the sustainability and the way she’s promoting young female POC - is being erased. Like idk if they bothered to read the articles about it. I wanted to dunk on it just because the analysis made me annoyed but tbh it’s really cool. Go 🦒

I saw on Twitter you RTed a bunch of Kremling Kampaigner posts detailing a wish for how K Rool would work in the next game, if he appears, and a tweet hinting that "You might get your wish". Have you voiced any Donkey Kong character(s) before, and if so, which one(s)?

My ability to respond with a direct explanation is highly temporal, and difficult to navigate at this point.

I have however, always been fond of Krusha and Kaboom.
