Oh honey … My point was that ethnic cleansing and nationalism go together like toast and jam. (And so does nationalism and genocide denial and constantly framing one's own people as perpetual victims, the center of the world, and/or a bulwark against "savages".)

And I really want to know: precisely what do you believe was so different about the Nakba and Israeli war crimes against Gazans as compared to say, the Adana massacre, Hamidian massacres, Armenian Genocide, Pontic Greek genocide, Simele massacre, Ottoman and Turkish deportations of Kurds, Arab Belt program, Dujail massacre, Anfal campaign, Halabja massacre, 1991 Altun Kupri massacre, and blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh? (And for that matter, why do you think they are so different from the 1947 Jammu massacres, 1947 Kamoke train massacre, 1962 Rajshahi massacres, 1964 East Pakistan riots, Cambodian genocide, Fergana Valley massacre, Rohingya genocide, and War in Tigray?)

From my way of seeing it, they're all wrong and they're all driven by ethnic and/or religious nationalism. Yet, you seem to believe that's somehow illegitimate to compare these things and that by doing so, I am, "consciously obscuring the central role played by Western colonialism in Israel's foundation and the specifically European racialist ideology that has guided it ever since" and "reduc(ing} the Holocaust or South African apartheid to generic, ahistorical ideas of 'intolerance' in order to deliberately avoid having to address the specific material forces and ideas that inspired them - forces and ideas in which they themselves are complicit."

But why? Why do you feel that Israel's ethnic cleansing of Palestinians is so different from the aforementioned incidences of Syria, Iraq, Turkey, and Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansings of Armenians, Assyrians, Kurds, and/or Shia Muslims? You constantly love to insist that Israel alone apparently subscribes to "European racialist ideology", yet you seldom bother to explain why you believe this is so.

So, I really want to explain why you believe that it's wrong for me to compare Israel's ethnic cleansing campaigns to those of the Ottoman Empire, the Republic of Turkey, the kingdom of Iraq, Ba'athist Iraq, Ba'athist Syria, and Azerbaijan....

Is it that you believe the motives of Ottomans, Turks, Iraqis, Syrians, and Azeris were inherently different? (If so, I'd like to know how! It looks to me like they were also motivated by xenophobia, myths about fifth columns, and/or the desire to create homogenous nation-states, but maybe I'm missing something?)

Is it because you think Armenians, Kurds, Assyrians, Pontic Greeks, and/or Shia Muslim deserved to be killed and/or deported, but Palestinians don't'? (I sure as fuck hope you don't believe this, but plenty of Turkish nationalists do!)

Is it that Israel's leaders were obviously more racist and colonialist in your eyes because most were born in East and Central Europe?

Is it that the three Pashas, Ataturk, Faisal I of Iraq, the Assads, Saddam Hussein etc. were automatically less racist and colonialist in your eyes because they were not born in East or Central Europe?

Or do you think that the anti-Kurd, anti-Armenian, anti-Greek etc. sentiments of the Iraqi, Syrian, and Azeri governments are all in the past and have little bearing on current politics? (If you actually think this, I have some swampland in Florida I'd like to sell you.)

As for the rest, you're again keen to talk without making a basic effort to read. My comment was about European zionists invoking claims of indigeneity to justify ethnic cleansing. It made no claim about 'whiteness' or otherwise.

I actually highlighted that post because you were (and still are!) presenting Ashkenazi Jews as a European group of people by omitting two facts, possibly because they are inconvenient for your sanitized narrative.

1: Jews ended up in Europe in the first place as a result of being enslaved and expelled from Judaea by the Romans following the end of the Jewish-Roman Wars, especially after the suppression of the Bar Kokhba revolt.

I've yet to understand precisely why you and other so many other pro-Palestinian activists are so loathe to admit that these events occurred. After all, Titus and Hadrian have fuck all to do with Palestinians... So, I can't help but think that you lot might have bit of a problem with admitting that Jews ever suffered mistreatment or persecution in any way. 2: European Jews in early 20th century were NOT completely indistinguishable from Christian Europeans in all or most ways, despite your apparent unspoken belief that they were.

There was a long, long history in Europe of numerous laws that enforced Jewish separation from Christians. This is why Ashkenazi Jews are all closely related to one another and their population shows evidence of a massive genetic bottleneck starting around the Middle Ages.
