Not as flashy as my other pieces but the sun behind the clouds represents my transformation this past year. Although my life felt chaotic, obscured by clouds, “me” the burning light was in there somewhere. I was in a place where I knew the road ahead was going to require a lot of work. I remember thinking, ugh, I’m really going to have to work hard at this. Then I took responsibility for everything in my life, the good and bad. It was all on me and now with this knowledge, I set out to build one totally different. Ok, I thought, I have a year to create. Let’s grieve a bit, dust off, then slowly start working.⁣ ⁣ I started at the foundation. Later I will share the story of how I’m doing this. Everything I did to lay the bedrock was for a final act that destroyed my old life and created a new one. It’s very unique, remarkable and probably nothing like you think. I plan on making a video of it when I go back to the Great Sand Dunes, a special place for me.⁣ ⁣ I didn’t drink alcohol for 8 months. I wanted to feel everything, I didn’t care how it felt. I didn’t want to mask any pain. I didn’t mess with any girls for the same amount of time unlike before which inhibited growth. I needed to go alone.⁣ ⁣ I read books, podcast, worked out, went to therapy, got back into meditation. One particular book I read that marked a turning point was by @kamalravikant called “Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It”. He also went through a hard time and one day had enough and transformed his life by a simple technique where he told himself he loved himself over and over. Every waking hour I repeated it to myself “I love myself.” Walking, driving, at home, at work. I was retraining my brain. I recommend it if you find yourself or someone in a spot like I was in. So Kamal if you’re reading, thank you friend for sharing your message! ⁣ ⁣ I spent weeks trying to get this photo right. Finally got it in 30 mins today. Thank you again, I can’t say it enough!
