What Your Preferred Kaladin Ship Says About You
[Minor spoilers for Stormlight]
Can the ships you like and/or write fanfiction for and/or read fanfiction for reveal something about you? Let’s say the answer is yes--what might your preferred Kaladin ship(s) say about you?
1. Kaladin x Shallan
That scene in the chasms really got to you. You want to see two broken people raise each other up, preferably with a good helping of snark. Either that, or your love language is boot-stealing.
2. Kaladin x Adolin
You like a good rivals-to-lovers relationship, and you have a slight humiliation kink--it’s why you find yourself reading “bridgeboy” as romantic.
3. Kaladin x Adolin x Shallan
Unlike Brandon Sanderson, you are no coward.
4. Kaladin x Moash
You enjoy suffering.
Or perhaps you just wish Sanderson hadn’t dropped the whole “the Alethi social system needs to burn” angle and still had Kaladin fighting against the system alongside Moash.
Which is to say--you enjoy suffering.
5. Kaladin x Lezian
You also enjoy suffering. The suffering of the characters, that is.
6. Kaladin x Lyn
Your ship was canon, but oh how briefly. I have to assume you write/read fix-it fanfic.
7. Kaladin x Lewshi
You love a good, respectful, enemies to lovers slowburn. You say things like, “It’s about the yearning.”
8. Kaladin x Renarin
I think you are probably a sweet person who wants only the best for your ships. You may have done a lot of research into epilepsy and how a fantasy doctor would talk about it.
10. Kaladin x Elhokar
I assume you are the type of person who says things like, “I want to put this man into a mason jar and shake him vigorously.”
11. Kaladin x Szeth
You probably have high hopes for the Shinover field trip.
12. Kaladin x Rlain
You’d like to see these men explore their emotions...and presumably each other’s bodies.
13. Kaladin x Jasnah
You said “ace rights” and meant it with your whole chest.
14. Kaladin x Dalinar
You wish that a big strong man would look you in the eye and say in his deep, manly voice, “Your job is bad for your mental health. Quit right now. That is not a suggestion.”
15. Kaladin x Sleep
You just want to wrap Kaladin in a warm blanket until he feels better.
That is to say, you love crack ships.

More random ships:
Kaladin x Szeth
Out of nowhere but they will share a interesting trip in book 5.
This might change for Stormlight 5, but i just don't enjoy Szeth. Nothing he says does or thinks is interesting to me
It may be because he's bald? God knows
He's out of the shipping pool for me, sorry I can't embark with you on this ship 🚢

So like are you guys ready for the influx of Kaladin x Szeth shippers thats gonna come from putting 2 single men in close proximity to each other otherwise alone (except spren and Nightblood) for an extended period of time while they presumably are internally working through mental and emotional issues

The Great Stormlight Archive Reread
Decided to begin speed reading my way through 3000 pages worth of The Stormlight Archive in anticipation of the fourth book in November, Rhythm of War. (You know, as much as you can speed read that.) I am very excited about this book, and while I think I should be able to follow everything nicely, a refresh wouldn't hurt. Already things are making more sense than the first time I read the series, and that is half the fun of a reread. The series sure does start out in a pretty epic fashion. We see these warriors, debating whether they should return to what amounts to a kind of Hell for the greater good or break their pact. We then move 4,500 years into the future where we get a line that is both awesome and forever tainted by Cosmemes: "Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king." I'm sure you can imagine what the memes are like. Basically, "Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar, wore x on the day he was to x." It's honestly hilarious (as are the I Am a Stick memes), but it sure does change the tone. XD Anyway, I'm not super far into my reread just yet, but I'm just at the point where I'm about to get to Kaladin and I'm very excited.

Hey! So I've seen you post sparsely about the Stormlight Archive. I just finished the Way of Kings and I'm yelling????? I had no plans to stay up until 2am last night to finish the last 250 pages, but I couldn't put it down. Dalinar x Navani? My sweet boy Kaladin? Jasnah and Shallan? Szeth!?!? Wit (Hoid)??? I just love them all so much lol. Sorry for the super random ask I just needed to yell at somebody about it lol
I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH TOO. (Although Kaladin is definitely my favourite.)
The other books are fantastic as well! I’m now starting Oathbringer part 2 and I’m so excited! The lore is so detailed and original and--

For that 'SEND ME A FANDOM' post - the Stormlight Archives!
The first character I first fell in love with: Syl!
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Definitely Adolin. He originally just kind of read as a boring dudebro to me, but when he starts interacting more with people who aren’t his father (especially Kaladin and Shallan), his kindness and sense of justice really start showing and it’s Great.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Dalinar, sorta, probably?  I definitely like him less than the average seems to be.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Jasnah is my Favorite, and while she is some others’ Favorite as well, we seem to be a very small minority.  I’ve seen more hate for her than any other PoV character besides Moash (but there’s no controversy about #fuckmoash).
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Can’t think of any; while love for characters can grow on me, I seldom lose it once I have it.
The character I would totally smooch: Jasnah
The character I’d want to be like: also Jasnah,  And Eshonai, probably?  Eshonai’s pretty awesome.
The character I’d slap: Oh, probably Dalinar.  Ooh, or Szeth.  Definitely Szeth. I feel bad for him frequently, but it seems like he kinda needs it.  Also, Taravangian.
A pairing that I love: I’m not super into shipping in Stormlight, but I’m definitely here for Shadolin and Shakalodin.  I kinda want Jasnah to have a girlfriend, but don’t presently see any options that make sense there.  And I ship all the Radiants x Mental Health and Stability, because reasons.
A pairing that I despise: I don’t know of any ship people actually have that I despise, but I don’t like Jasnah/Shallan past Shallan maybe having a crush (which I totally buy, but I almost always dislike mentor/pupil shipping in general).

Stormlight Archive - Dalinar & Co.
It’s been four years and I drew the crew again! This took me a whole week to finish, but worth it!
From left to right (post-WoR settings): Navani (with fabrials), Jasnah (with Ivory), Dalinar (with the Stormfather), Szeth (with Nightblood), Shallan (with Pattern), Kaladin (with Syl), Renarin, Lift (with Wyndle), Adolin and Elhokar. (There are also several arms belonging to some random characters in Dalinar’s army.)
Group high five: Let’s save Roshar! (They are standing in a sunlight-lit room in Urithiru.)
Full-sized piece on DeviantART: [x]
Bonus: You can see my progress (I hope!) during these years: (Seems like they were done by two different people...)

The Way of Kings second impressions:
Looking back there was a fair bit I didn’t notice the first time around, partly because I didn’t know to look (thanks fandom and the Cosmere), partly because, well, foreshadowing. Like the Dawnshards. Or the implication that Shardblades are meant to exclusively be used to kill Voidbringers, and the fact that the male Radiant in Dalinar’s first detailed vision was a Windrunner. the ‘riddles’ in Hoid’s words, and Sigzil’s by extension. you know, the list goes on
I liked Adolin a lot more this time around too. i’m not even sure why i disliked him so much the first time i read it. maybe because of his...well, he’s not a ‘philanderer’ so much (though i still think he’s shallow, and not just in his attraction to women), but i think he was too ‘Alethi’, since the Alethi have some cracked worldviews that i very much disagree with
and it’s not that i disliked Dalinar before, but i appreciated his chapters a lot more this time around. they were kind of a drag the first time i read the book, but i loved their depth and their richness, and Dalinar is so much more introspective compared to Adolin and Shallan that...yeah
(Dalinar, highprince of my heart, you know you’ll have to unite humanity and the listeners as part of the request to ‘unite them’, right?? or, at least, i would assume so)
WHAT DID GAVILAR DO TO NAVANI
i felt Kaladin’s low points a lot more. this time, it was empathy. let’s all get help lmao
Syl’s evolution from dimwitted prankster to...thoughtful, if morally simplistic, being was still beautiful to see unfold. i love her
new crack ship:  Kaladin x Sigzil
i know a lot of people didn’t like Shallan until they read Words of Radiance (or, at least, that’s the word on the street), but i liked her immediately?? of course she has plenty of flaws, but she’s commendable for wanting to save her family, even if she’s deluded in her methods
similarly i think Shallan has the potential to be...one of the most flawed (in a good way) female characters i’ve ever read. rather than being ‘wholesome’ and ‘good’, she makes some pretty immoral decisions for dubiously moral reasons.
also funny how everyone else feels burdened by saving the world but Shallan is like...choose me
so like is Shallan gonna need to tell a ‘strong’ truth every time she wants to Soulcast, or is it just, like, the first four times? *shrugs* guess i’ll keep reading
i can’t wait till Amaram and Sadeas get their comeuppance
and i can’t wait until Taravangian realizes he’s been going about everything wrong (putting destination before journey)...and then getting dead
i still don’t like Szeth. he’s a great character, if a little underdeveloped at this point, but i don’t like him. i don’t like his chapters. i don’t like it when people self-pity, and i think...he’d be a prime example of why Jasnah dislikes religion, because his devotion to his religion is why he does some evil things
the ends don’t justify the means, you guys. that’s the whole fucking point. if i was a gambling woman i would bet that’s the thesis of the WHOLE. DAMN. SERIES. journey before destination
now, on to Warbreaker!!

A Very Important Tier List of How Good Cosmere Names Would Be in Scrabble
If you were allowed to use fictional proper names in Scrabble, then how good would it be to use various Cosmere names? This is obviously an important question, which I shall answer today using a tier list, from worst to best.
[If you're not familiar with Scrabble, it's a game where you get 7 letters and try to make words on the gameboard. Each letter has an assigned score from 0 to 10. You get all the points of all the letters in your word, plus you get to double count any letters used in multiple words.]
So let's get to the tier-list!
F-Tier: Names That Are (Virtually) Too Long for Scrabble
Some Cosmere names do not work well at all by virtue of being, well, basically impossible to use in Scrabble. "Jadendwyl" (Sazed's friend) is 9 letters, for example, so unless you got very lucky with someone else playing "end" in exactly the right spot, you're pretty much out of luck. You only have 7 letters to work with, after all. Other names in this same category include:  "Hamaradin," "Peaceyearning," "Harkaylain." Just too long!
E-Tier: Short, Low-Scoring Names
The second worst would be names that are short and use letters that are just one point each. "Lirin"? Only 5 points. "Siri"? Only 4 points. Moash's grandma "Ana"? Only 3 points.
You're only playing these if you're desperate, or if you've trying to, like, play off of someone else's Z or something.
D-Tier: Longer but Still Low-Scoring Names
"Adolin" may look like a nice, long word--but it's only 6 letters, and only the "D" is worth more than one. You're plunking down that bad boy and getting like 7 points for your trouble. Same issue with other 6-letter names like "Oroden." They're just not very good.
C-Tier: At Least One Letter Is Pretty Good
Playing "Shallan" would be pretty good, 'cause that "H" is four points AND pretty easy to get double-counted. Same goes for "Hoid" or "Hav" or "Hrathen." "Y" is also worth 4 and easy to double, so "Yalb" or "Ym" are your friends too. "Wayne" has two four-point letters, W and Y, so that's pretty good--"Leshwi" too. "Kelsier" has the 5-point K, but there aren't any two-letter words with K, so oddly he's probably slightly worse "Hoid" would be.
...I hope I haven't started something here.
B-Tier: Contains one of the GREAT Letters
If you can get a "Q" or a "Z" in your word, then that's a cool 10 points right there--at least 20 if you can get them going both ways. So "Zane" or "Szeth" or "Azure" or "Breeze" or "Lezian" are great options. "X" and "J" are 8 points and easy to play both ways, so "Wax" and "Jasnah" and "Demoux" are great too.
A-Tier: Seven-Letter Words
If you play a 7-letter word in Scrabble, then you get a bonus 50 points on top of whatever you score with the word! There are a lot of 7-letter names too. "Kaladin," of course, reaching the top as always. Also good are "Dalinar," "Renarin," "Pattern," "Elhokar," "OreSeur," "Aesudan"... There are actually tons of these!
S-Tier: Seven-Letter Words Containing one of the GREAT Letters
But you know what would be the best Scrabble word? We'd need a 7-letter name that also contains a Q or a Z. And there is one--one name that is by far the best Cosmere Scrabble play ever.
Zellion.
Is there anything he can't do?
