random hcs about what happens after Crystalized (mostly relationship-based) Garmadon goes back to Vinny (they aren't actually together yet because Vinny is still figuring out what the heck these feelings are for this annoying Oni roommate), they have to stay somewhere else cuz of the gaping hole in Vinny's apartment, but eventually they actually get together and are very much in love. Kai and Skylor get together and it's fine for a while, but eventually they realize that it's just not going to work between them. They break up, Skylor realizes she's a lesbian and Kai realizes he's been in love with Cole since literally forever. Lloyd visits Harumi in prison regularily, and they even try to sort of be like how they used to be. But when "how it used to be" was built on lies, it's hard to figure out how your relationship works. They decide to just be friends and as their trauma heals they grow more into a sibling dynamic (see, I can have my cake and eat it, too!). Jay and Nya FINALLY get married. It's a beautiful wedding. Nya does NOT wear a dress (she has wedding dress-related trauma, guys), Cole is Jay's best man, Pixal is Nya's Maid of Honor and during the Parent Dance Nya chooses to dance with her brother instead of her dad (Ray understands, Kai raised her WAY more than he did). Back to G and V, Lloyd finds out when they start dating and at first has conflicting emotions, but then he sees just how damn happy his dad is, and how much better of a man he has the potential to become. He starts hanging out with them and reconnecting with his father, and his new step-dad is trying his absolute darndest to get his step-son some professional help. Lloyd eventually goes to therapy and also gets a cat (they're easy to take care of, especially when you're going on ninja missions, and Lloyd has always been more comfortable talking about his feelings around animals. Very theraputic). Zane and Pixal are vibing. They've got their lovely daughter and are very happy. That is all.

as much as verbal boyfriend confirmation would be nice for geo/cole, i genuinely don't actually think it's necessary for the relationship to count as "canon" considering the standards for how most hetero relationships are portrayed in ninjago is as equally devoid of verbal confirmation or even like. consistent physical affection, with the exception of jaya. Like, pixane is barely more cuddly than most friends, and Kai canonically dropped the ball with Skylor by forgetting to call her for years. Quite frankly with the amount of physical affection present, calling each other family, and underlying romantic coding Geo and Cole have, I'd consider it the third most prominent romance in the series and I mean that pretty seriously.

starting off strong with the fanfic that probably literally changed my brain chemistry at age 14 and is the reason I got so attached to plasma. I read this probably a billion times and I am almost certain my writing style came from or started from this fic.

I LOVE fake engagement/dating aus and this fic is literally the reason I have like 5 in my wips for other fandoms. it's so good and it had me hooked every single time I reread it. I believe I owe it a reread soon.

What is Nya's relationship w/ Skylor, actually? I think they'd be rlly interesting here, especially with Nya as the more aggressive go-getter like Kai was in canon at that point. What's Skylor's relationship with *all* of the Ninja? Does the Kailor subplot still happen??? So many questions....

Most important question of all though: WHAT do Nya & Zane's personalized rooms look like,,,, 👀👀👀

skylor and nya- I think Nya and Sky have a... more surface level friendship at first. Nya is just excited to meet all these people with powers like hers and test herself and her limits that she ends up only getting to hangout with Skylor a little bit before everything goes to shit lol. I think they're definitely friends- Skylor willing to offer up info on some of the others and Nya eager for any upperhand she can get in the coming fights. but Nyas more focused of winning than she is socializing, so Skylor ends up left behind to her.

Skylor and Kai- i think kailor does still happen similar to in canon, but it's very loose. Kai is there to take care of Nya and then, accidentally, he's there to take care of Lloyd. there's not enough room in his mind to lose focus on Skylor- though he does. he does. i think in this AU kai has a lot more pressure on himself to succeed. he's got to do everything right. put four weapons back on the map, make money to pay bills, give nya a better life- he's had to make sacrifices. he hasn't really had the time to consider dating. he feels a connection with Sky and he wants to see where it goes, but... he's got Nya and Lloyd to look after. i think Skylor starts to lose her nerve to help her father because she sees Kai with his family and knows that she's looking at what she never had- unconditional love and support. she looks at kai and sees a wonderful, responsible, lonely man. she can see herself in him. she admires him. they make me ill

as for the rest of the ninja, she's not really standout. Zane does not know who she is to chen. she's chens best kept secret until it's time to reveal all his cards!!

Nya's room has a personal letter from Chen saying he's looking forward to seeing her skills because Water is an especially formidable element. there is also lots of ocean motifs and weaponry lining the walls.

Zanes room is... pretty plain, all things considered. a big, comfortable bed. a nice ornate chest of drawers he can unpack his bag into. mugs and tea and a teapot. a perch for falcon. it's designed to be very comfortable and homey.

I wish I could care about Kailor but man, the fandom carries this ship on their BACK, their back is BROKEN with how much they carry the ship cuz they don't do ANYTHING with this ship in the show

It really is the most underdeveloped ship in the entire show easily outclassed by Robyfyre, a BRAND NEW SHIP and heck even Geode cuz at least we get to SEE Geo outside of him contributing to the plot AND he actually affects Cole in some way, Skylor is only ever seen if she's needed for something plot relevant, if she isn't then she basically doesn't exist

Kai certainly never talks about her, like at ALL. For someone who was simping over her as badly as he was in s4 he sure as hell never brings her up or calls her, or visits her.... like bro, where did all those feelings go??

Kai and Skylor feel so disconnected in a way none of the other canon or implied ships do that i just CANNOT see them as anything other than friends.

They could remove the ship entirely and NOTHING about Skylor and Kai would would change. What was the point of introducing it at all???

I think Lostshipping is absolutely adorable and wholesome. Cole deserves a sweet romance like that.

but at the same time, as someone who's never really dated before, I have always appreciated that not every ninja had a love interest. It made me feel seen as someone who never got to experience teen romance. So in that sense, I'm a bit... not even sad over lost? it's almost bittersweet for me? Because it shows it's okay to be older when you first find someone. I feel like we don't see in media much representation for people who don't really date as teens/high schoolers. So I appreciate that the first time we see Cole with a real love interest is as an adult. It's less isolating. And also, I think that's especially helpful for queer people who may not be able to be out while being teenagers.

And in general I appreciate Ninjago's diversity in representing romantic relationship situations. You have Kailor who both really like each other but just aren't able to get together; I think that's realistically because they have such different lifestyles and wouldn't be able to see each other much. And you also have Llorumi showing that "hey, not every romantic relationship is a good one and sometimes people will hurt you" and I think that's very important to represent too. You have Pixane who are just super healthy and functional. And you have Jaya who have some bumps in the road but work through their problems together and persist. And now we have Cole with Geo, who to me, can show that it's okay to find love when you're not a teen.

HELL YEAH! tysm for the ask<3 some dr s3 spoilers will be mentioned in jays text! JAY How I feel about this character: I LOVE HIM LOTS! I always say i dont have a favourite ninja and its because i think all of them are awesome and they all balance each other out. i love jays personality in early seasons especially. he is pretty hyper which makes sense for a lighting ninja and he is a literal defenition of unmedicated adhd (me!). i love this guy hes so fun. but i also love the new direction dr is taking him in. making him more serious and making him a depressed dude and is also unmedicated and has amnesia is so interesting and i LOVE IT SO MUCH! i cant wait for s3 to see more of rogue.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: NYA... NYA... NYA!!!!! jaya is my favourite jay ship i think, but mostly because of dragons rising. they make my heart ache and i want to squeeze doc wyatt for breaking my heart like that. i also really like plasma:) im a bit of a multishipper so in my mind they can co-exist (not in the same universe plane ofc). early season plasma is my fav though! esp pilots and seasons 1-2. i dont think i ship him with anyone else though? i might be forgetting someone bc bad memory but oh well, might edit this later to add other ppl

My non-romantic OTP for this character: COLE. oh my god they are my everything. jay and cole are best friends always and forever in my heart, i know its literally canon but its so unutulized it makes me so sad. i hope we can see more of their friendship shine through in dr! cole missing jay, his best friend... rogue having some faint memories of haging out with a black-hair, bushy browed boy when he was younger... UGHHH

My unpopular opinion about this character: okay this may be more of a prime empire opinion but i dont like prime empire as a jay season. at all. i went in to watch it for the first time expecting something good and fun but it did not do him justice. like boy why are you talking to a mecha dragon on top of a rooftop about how your parents left you bitch the poeple that RAISED YOU are literally well and alive you can call them right now😭🙏

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wish we got to see more of ed and edna in later seasons. i want to see more of their relationship! family dynamic! they stopped appearing after day of the departed which breaks my heart. why didnt they say anything to jay during/after nyas funeral?! come on! KAI How I feel about this character: I ALSO LOVE HIM! like with jay i especially like early season kai but this time it may be my nostalgia shining through as he was my favourite ninja as a kid (even though like i said i now dont have a fav ninja). him being a hotheaded guy that does not give a single shit about all those other losers and that weird old man and just wants to save his sister is so fun, it poses such a cool dynamic between him and other ninja. but i of course love later kai too. him caring for lloyd, being a little mean to jay... oh i love him lots!

All the people I ship romantically with this character: plasma as stated b4... esp early season but i already said that. i dont really have many ships for him because i feel like even tough there are many girls that are head over heels for him he cannot flirt to save his life. i mean... theres def the kailor situationship. its so funny to me i love it. i also like destiny but its more of a rivarly/enemies to making out gay-ly then romantical. him and morro would jump to eachothers throats and tear eachother down like two dogs but in a gay way if you know what i mean <3

Explaining Jay overstepping Nya’s boundaries with the help of comparison:

(Disclaimer before we start: None of this is meant to validate Jay’s actions, or to say he was in the right for doing so, simply explaining why I think he did what he did)

So looking back to S5, Where the future reflections were revealed, Jay saw himself with an eyepatch (and some super cool facial hair, I might add), and for unexplained reasons, he saw Nya with him. They weren’t kissing, they weren’t uh doing ‘it’, they were simply side-hugging while looking at something

(But no, really, there is no explanation for why she appears just like there’s no real explanation why Cole didn’t. “S6 said—“ S6 said a lot of things that don’t make sense. Especially with Ghost Cole. For me it seems like Wu told Cole that to bring him so kind of explanation (wow, I’m using that word a lot in here) and Cole being desperate for something, buys it (not to say that Wu lied, he probably thought he would find a real reason in no time but wanted to keep Cole hopeful with anything)

Personally, I have 2 explanations that don’t make sense. 1) Jay hallucinated. Which has no reason so ig no and 2) It shows anyone’s future parters if they had already met them. Jay already meeting Nya, it shows her. Zane already meeting Pixal, it could’ve showed her but because she’s in his mind she wasn’t apparent. I guess no win for Kailor fans… but Kai will have someone in the future, just not Skylor. And Cole was destined to be forever alone so he wasn’t shown. But again, doesn’t make sense because of Geode)

Jay jumps to conclusions and assumes he’s seeing her because in the future they are together as a couple, not as sister and brother

Now let’s jump to DR (you knew this was coming). In Dragons Rising Jay has no recollection of Nya and more importantly, their relationship. While Nya, on the other hand, aware that they are yin-yang and inside a committed and very loving relationship.

In Jay’s point of view, a woman he was warned not to trust is insisting that they’re lovers. But that woman is a stranger. He has never met or seen her anywhere. And even if they were, he can’t find himself to believe that their relationship was healthy considering if it was, she probably would’ve worked a little harder to find him faster. Not find him years later in some lame elemental tournament…

In Nya’s point of view (back to Skybound), she likes and knows Jay. She’s aware of their past, she knows their present and is trying to avoid their future. Why? Because she needs time to figure herself out. And since she doesn’t owe Jay anything, she doesn’t tell him forwardly, but she isn’t hiding it. Everyone knows she’s on a mission to lessen the sexism that follows her with her team’s fame and on a journey to find herself. Like- Jay should be aware of that.

So to summarize, Jay-a stranger insists on acting like they’re a couple and Nya-a friend keeps on acting like they’re a couple

Now, back to DR. Nya’s point of view. After not seeing her beloved yin for years, she finally reconnected with him except he was manipulated and lied to about the cult he joined and about her. He’s evil (ooo forbidden love) and he hates her (or not),

S6 Jay. After accepting his and Nya’s breakup, he got a message from upstairs with a gif of him and Nya together. Maybe the people upstairs thought the gif was funny (lmao idk why I went with a metaphor), but Jay was overthinking and reading into it (classic Jay). He saw him and Nya together and the first thing that comes to his mind is love. Hinting a little that maybe he wasn’t over her… anyways, finding out his future partner is his ex-girlfriend, he starts to daydream about how this would work and makes up random scenarios in his head (like we all do with fictional characters except he took it to the next level and did it with a real person (as real as she can be ig))

Anyways he starts to daydream about them together. Things they did, and things they will do. Past and future. Until he gets a little bit mixed up in S6 and may think he acts like he didn’t, but he added the present.

Bubbling in for so long about it, only after he made that confusion, he tells Zane (or so I’m assuming, but let’s guess so). Zane does his best to give advice and offers to communicate. Jay, as talkative as he is, doesn’t follow the advice he requested for, probably feeling too embarrassed and emotional to bring up this whole love triangle back as a topic, it being a sensitive topic all over again

Anyways. I’m summarizing because I took a break from my phone before finishing this and idk where I was getting at. Nya-are together, but partner forgot Jay- Will be together, but ‘partner’ is unaware

See where I’m getting at? It’s not the same and obviously as I’ve said before, the way Jay acted in S6 isn’t right, while Nya handled Jay in DR pretty well (as well as you can handle your partner getting amnesia after you get separated then finding them again thanks to them joining a furry cult)
