Random Vampire Diaries discourse but I’ve been thinking about Bonnie and Kai and why they interest me so much. Because usually TVD’s sexually charged “he’s a terrible person but he’s infatuated with you” thing doesn’t interest me. Like I enjoy watching Klaroline and Delena as a guilty pleasure, but it doesn’t interest me. He’s just obsessed with her, and she eventually brings out the good in him, yada yada the messed up toxic guy brings out her dark side yada yada, she realises her power and so on. And I just don’t really care. I just watch it, and then I move on. I don’t linger on it for days and think about the characters.
But this random Bonnie and Kai thing that went on for 10 episodes, for some reason every so often I just think about them for days on end. And I reckon it’s because what the actors were setting up with them was really unique and not that trope. But then, since TVD is really badly written, after the prison arc they tried to turn it into the “guy is infatuated and redeems for her” and Chris Wood (who plays Kai) legitimately refuses to act that (which, like, good on him). So then they dropped the Bonnie/Kai storyline and just made him a villain.
But what were they then? At least originally? Because every time I get obsessed with these characters I go into fanon and it ruins my obsession, because it’s just that whole “evil guy is infatuated” thing all over again and it just doesn’t feel like them.
So let’s go through my reading of the Bonnie/Kai prison arc:
For me, what originally caught my attention about these two was that I thought Bonnie was the actually obsessed one. At least at first.
How Bonnie acts during their first scenes together
Bonnie spends seasons without her magic and this random guy shows up and gets under her skin so much she actually unlocks it? What? And the reason given is that she needed to save Damon but the spirits had straight up taken her magic. Her friends have been in life and death situations for ages and she couldn’t do anything about it to the point where she takes on dark magic. Clearly it is not just a desire to save her friends that unlocks it. And her becoming anchor does not change the fact that it had been confiscated. Forever. Who is this random guy that got her to unlock it by just taunting her?
And then she spends the whole first few conversations legitimately flirting back with this guy. Who just tried to kill her friend. When Bonnie doesn’t flirt with people. Like we have never seen Bonnie (until now, no bonenzo erasure) actually be interested in any villain ever. She typically just glares at them.
And that’s something that gets me about their dynamic. Bonnie acts so different around Kai than she does with anyone else. When Bonnie has dealt with evil sociopaths before. This guy is not new.
Bonnie tries to kill Kai (the first time)
What does Bonnie do when dealing with evil vampires or evil warlocks? Usually shes the one who is the voice of reason. With the plan. Who comes in at the end and saves everyone. Not Kai. She straight up throws an axe at him. On a hunch. When he actually hasn’t done anything that bad.
Bonnie doesn’t kill people a lot before this point. Unless she thinks it’s necessary. And they have to have done something really bad and she actually seems upset afterwards. But not Kai. Literally all he does is threaten them a little, offer to be friends, and kill his family 20 years before. Which is incredibly low stakes given the other stuff people do in TVD. Why does he get under her skin so much?
It’s so weird to me that she’s so against letting him out. I mean Bonnie is stubborn and has a strong sense of justice, but she also does bad stuff for the greater good. It’s far more like her to let him out for the greater good of getting them both out, and then stop him. But she’s not actually being reasonable.
Even Damon calls her on it. How she’s acting more impulsive and negative than he is. Just because Kai exists. It’s a level of caring and irritation that we don’t actually see from Bonnie a lot, who is usually cool and collected and strong.
How Kai acts in most of the prison world arc together
Kai meanwhile acts towards her how he later acts towards Elena. Flirty and off putting. Though he does later seem to realise that Bonnie is legitimately impressive and useful in a way that he decides Elena isn’t (which is just factually true). But Kai (in the first half) is a sociopath who uses people for his own benefit, and that is exactly how he treats Bonnie.
Especially later, after Damon is gone, he tries to play the sympathy card so many times and the “you’re different” tactic, but it’s all a lie and Bonnie is aware of it. And this it the other thing that I love about their dynamic, Bonnie is clearly very diverted and unsettled by this guy, but she is not an idiot. She has watched Caroline and Elena both fall for bad boys saying that they'll "change" for them. And she has spent the whole time saying they're being incredibly stupid. And she doesn’t turn from that awareness.
In my opinion, that’s the first thing that makes Kai act differently around her, the realisation that she is not gonna fall for any of that. He waits four months to manipulate them, and then suddenly is really impatient about when to do the spell? Why? And I think it’s because he realises that he’s not gonna get her to agree for long. She’s too observant. She figured out who he was so goddamn quickly. And she’s only gonna be scared for so long.
Kai takes her to his house
It’s so weird for Kai to take her to his house. He knew how to get out. He could’ve just left her. And it would’ve been less risky, since it’s clear at this point that he treats her as a danger.
Like he could just kill her. It would be safer to kill her. Bur he doesn’t. He brings her to his house. To gloat? He never seems interested in doing that before now. He’s cool for them to view him as irritating or a child or something to be scared of, depends on what’s useful. You don’t even see him gloat to Jo.
And this actually makes sense. Kai doesn’t care. Why would he need to gloat. He has a goal and he just needs to achieve it. Once he achieves it his revenge will be done and he will have won. He doesn’t have to villain monologue. He won. That’s satisfying enough.
In my opinion this is where Kai stops acting normal towards Bonnie. Like she’s just something to use for his goal. Or, rather, his goal changes.
Kai says he brings Bonnie to his house because he’s never had someone to share it with before. I feel like he might actually be telling the truth here, because it’s the only thing that makes sense.
Kai tries to manipulate Bonnie the day before wearing all his possible masks. An abomination making her scared and powerless. A misunderstood monster playing on sympathy, flattering her and saying he wants to be like her. And he believes it works. But it doesn’t. Bonnie not only outsmarts him, she outsmarts him and mocks the masks he wore. She take his manipulative bear that is supposed to be his attempts at fake kindness, and literally sends it away. He spends the whole first half of the day repeatedly trying to scare her and make her feel powerless, and her counter plan is all about how she is not powerless at all. He’s not in control. He needs her magic. And that’s hers. She controls it. And now it’s not here anymore. You’re welcome 😇
And while this is incredibly iconic of Bonnie, and irritating for him, it also means Bonnie sees past all those masks. For a guy who’s clearly used to pretending. For a guy who was always seen as an abomination even when he wasn’t. It clearly interests him that she actually just doesn’t see him as a monster, at least in any superficial way that he can use. Bonnie Bennet knew him well enough to know that he was lying.
So Kai brings Bonnie to the place where all of his memories are. Where he grew up. Where he killed his family and the blood is still there. And it’s clearly not to gain her trust through being misunderstood (the blood is still there, and he shows absolutely no attempt at remorse). And he is legitimately cordial and doesn’t restrain her, so he’s not purposefully trying to make her powerless or scared. So what’s his angle?
This is the thing, where Kai acts different as well. He shows resentment about his upbringing when he mentions it, not sadness or any pity based emotions. He babbles and cooks because he (as we learn) likes cooking. Bonnie later interprets it as him trying to gain her trust just to betray her out of sadism, but 1. Kai isn’t actually a sadist. Kai likes control, and can get angry and violent. He doesn’t care if he’s stabbing someone or not. We see it as he gets out, violence and manipulation is a means to an end. Always. And there is no end aside from revenge for him to try to betray Bonnie. Especially because Bonnie has been very clear that she will not trust him.
Then there’s the fact that he is not, as we’ve addressed, actually doing anything that would lead to trust. None of the previous masks. He’s actually being very open and generally having dinner with a psycho in the house covered in blood stains from when he killed children is not a trust building exercise. (Honestly, kind of weird that she thinks it was supposed to be. What, were you actually warming up to him during that dinner? A little suspicious Bonnie.)
But if, instead, Kai is doing all this to share himself with Bonnie. To be seen. He’s so irritated when she doesn’t understand: “Can’t you see I’m trying to apologise?” And then she very clearly states that she is not interested in spending any time with him, seeing anything, sharing anything, aside from the last dinner.
And we wonder why he puts it off, if his entire plan is just to stab her, leave, and gloat with a pager. Why does he drag the dinner longer than necessary? He’s about to leave, he’s been impatient to leave this entire time, but he actually puts it off. There is no reason to. He’s about to be around so many people to communicate with, but he wants to spend as much time with Bonnie as possible. Why??
And if the ascendant can only be used in the Mystic Falls tunnels, and he flies all the way to Portland, and it’s getting dark when he grabs the knife in the tree stump, then he puts off his return for an entire day. Just to eat spaghetti. Really slowly.
It only makes sense if he’s there specifically because his goal is to hang out with her. He wants to share. She pretty much acknowledges this and says she will never, ever care or like him. Stop trying to share with her. Leave her alone. Which, if he’s this excited about being seen, would be infuriating for him.
How Bonnie acts after he leaves
What really got me about the whole arc, though, is how Bonnie talks about what happens. Because that really shows how weird these two are.
Bonnie is furious with Kai and when she’s explaining what she went through to Damon, and doesn’t emphasise the stabbing or the manipulation as the worst part, but that Kai left her. All alone. He abandoned her.
Which is crazy, because that is so intimate for a complaint. But that is what she holds on to. Damon didn’t abandon her, even though he did. Her friends didn’t abandon her, even though they did. This random sociopathic guy abandoned her. Bonnie has the opposite of an abandonment complex, she is constantly overlooked and left and never gets mad about it, except this one time. With Kai. Who there shouldn’t have even been expectations about.
But it’s clear they were both aware there was. Despite Kai promising to leave her alone after a last dinner, his message isn’t “have fun” or something like that, it’s “I lied.” But he didn’t lie? He left her alone?
It’s like they were both aware that he was sharing and there was an expectation there. Where she would say she wanted to be left alone but he wouldn’t do it anyway, and she would keep paying attention anyway. That they were gonna play the “follow you around” intimacy game. Except Kai is like, woops jokes on you I can get out and I’m not taking you with me. Even though it was a given that I was gonna try to win you over, for fun. I know the hell I just condemned you to, enjoy.
Post Kai getting emotions (sort of)
And this reading gives an entirely new light to their first interactions post Kai getting emotions and how furious she is that he is trying to get her attention. Because fuck off, I gave you my attention and you left me. We’re not doing that again. You get nothing from me.
And also why he can’t stop thinking about her. Let’s be honest, the “I want to be forgiven” is bullshit. It’s far more, “I’m a new me and I want to be seen.” And Bonnie just refuses to. Not this time. I will not understand Kai as more than a monster. He doesn’t deserve that from me.
Kai asks her to spend the afternoon with her and she says no. Fuck you. You don’t get me to willingly walk into your house again. Fuck off.
It’s just so weird and personal especially to Bonnie. Like this is where I think they were getting Bonkai wrong. Kai is always shown as so unbelievably obsessed with her, but he doesn’t really think about her until she gets back. And it’s with the same weird determination that Kai gets about all goals.
It’s Bonnie who is so out of character. Despite all the stuff she’s been through and abuse she’s suffered, it’s Kai somehow that changes her. And makes her more emotional. Bonnie is the one that is weirdly touchy about it all and structures her life around (not) seeing him. Bonnie is the one that’s unreasonable about her reactions to him.
And it was so fun seeing a female character, especially the “saviour” female character, be so concerningly “enemies to lovers” obsessive over a guy, and the guy being so oblivious to it. Like it’s funny seeing all of Bonnie’s friends go “maybe you should chill out about Kai” and her just go “NO.” Meanwhile Kai’s just over here like “so Bonnie can see through everyone including me, so if I can convince her there’s a new me, that’s confirmation that I’ve changed 😊 Ah she’s so pretty I wish she’d stop trying to kill me. But Bonnie’s just like that I guess.” But she’s not. She’s not like that at all!!
I wish they’d explored it more but at the same time, if Julie Plec was gonna fuck it up then I’m okay with them going the villain route.

Do you like the character of Kai Parker?
Tumblr media
My feelings for Kai are similar to my feelings for Lucien. I love/hate him. Honestly, they are basically the same character.
I love them as a villain but hate when people try to defend them or make them into something they just aren't. They are just uncomplicated serial killers who take joy in the pain and suffering of others. And that can be entertaining in fictional worlds.
Kai does not get a shred of redemption. His only slight redeeming qualities are his somewhat emotions he begins to feel after he kills his brother. And even these emotions aren't enough to stop him from being a terror to everyone. He kills his sister while she is pregnant at her wedding. He is a terrible person who abused everyone he came in contact with.
Yes, he's funny and yes, he's attractive. But he is a villain through and through. It doesn't matter that he has a sad childhood. It doesn't excuse everything he did after that. His anger wasn't just towards those who hurt him as a child, but everyone he came in contact with.
Again, I liked his character for what it was. I liked that they never tried to redeem him and he just died. And even when he came back, he was still awful. I've seen he comes back in Legacies, and I cheated and googled that he does die again, which I love. I know most of my favorite characters are villains and I love to deal with that complexity, but I also love a good, simple villain. Especially in a show with so many "morally grey" or "complex villains." Sometimes we just need someone to be uncomplicatedly bad. I also think they needed a character like Kai in TVD after the Mikaelsons left. I know they had Silas but I was a little disappointed in Silas, he almost felt too juvenile. Whereas Kai was over here actually making me worried for my favs while at the same time being entertaining.
Basically I love the character, he doesn't rank high for me in favorites, but I enjoy the seasons he is in.
Thanks for the ask!

“Who names a kid Malachai? It’s like they wanted me to be evil.”
Shower thought: Was Kai’s name always supposed to be Malachai? That is to say, did Joshua and Mrs Parker decide to name their firstborn Malachi before or after they realized he was a siphon?
The first Parker twins were named Malachi and Josette. Now Luke and Liv are technically Lucas and Olivia, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that everyone calls them by the alliterative nicknames: Luke and Liv.
However there’s a brother Joey which could be short for Joshua, Joseph, Jonathan… won't it have made more sense for the first twins to be Joey and Josette?
I wonder if Kai’s name was supposed to be Joey, to go with Josette. But when Papa and Mama Parker discovered Twin One was a siphon - which as we know can be detected in utero - they gave him a different name because a siphon didn’t “deserve” Joey.

I will continue to share this amazing take on bonkai reunion in season 8 all 3 parts are amazing and really give prospective to their last interaction
Bonkai Reunion 8x14 (part 1)
I divided this meta post into three parts because there is no way I could condense everything I want to write in one post.. Thank you @bonkai-legacy @albion19 for giving me the push I needed to do this.
Before I analyse the actual interaction, I would like to take a moment to write about the place chosen to be Bonkai’s reunion scene as it is significant to Bonnie and Kai’s interaction.

Does kai love bonnie?
imo, YES 100%!! Tho to be fair, I don't think he loved her right away. I think when they met in '94, when he was emotionally stunted, he was prob fascinated, intrigued and vvv attracted to her at least in a surface-level, physical way (his constant flirting, "I wanted to feel your hand on my chest," "Naughty girl," etc.)
I think his feels prob grew closer to love after the Merge when he gained more empathy. I mean, he became obsessed with rescuing Bon from '94 and gaining her forgiveness to the point that he was ready to risk dying SO soon after getting the one thing he'd waited 22+18 years to get (coven leadership). Literally he merged in TVD 6x12 after waiting his whole life for it and 1 episode later, he was straight up ready to let his life, leadership and ENTIRE COVEN die *just* to save Bonnie!! Former sociopath Kai doing THAT?? If that isn't his version of love then idk what is!!
Then there's also the 6x17 fiasco where Kai was happy to return to his canonically WORST FEAR (yet another prison world) just to spend time w Bonnie. In the S6 finale, despite TVD trying to convince us that Kai was back to his pre-merge lack of feelings, he made it a point to tell Bon that he spelled Elena asleep specifically bc BON hurt his FEELINGS!! In S8, despite being in HELL for years partly bc of her, as soon as he's out, he's right back to "Lemme say hi!" "Did it sound like she missed me?" "Are you here to punish me? 'Cause that's kinda hot" In Legacies, while talking to Josie, he FONDLY reminisces about Bon tricking him w Miss Cuddles in tvd 16 YRS LATER! ...This is the same woman who trapped him back in his WORST FEAR, another prison world...
Kai is just so consistently preoccupied with Bonnie no matter what happens, or what she does to him in canon, that I genuinely believe this man is WHIPPED for her. Head over heels in love 😂Thank you for your question!!

Actually so emotional about Andrew Peter...just like. He just loves so much. He chooses to love life when it would be so easy to hate it. He loves people who aren't here anymore and people he never really knew, he loves people who tried to kill him and after all this time he's still trying to save them, he loves people he doesn't know but who love a different version of him, he loves those reflections of himself so much that he goes out of his way to tell them he does and to call them his brothers after so short a time...and they give him that love back, and they tell him he is worthy of it, and after everything, he hates himself a little less.
#spiderman no way home#spiderman no way home spoilers#andrew garfield#peter parker#marvel#and like it's so clear that his life is really difficult and he's still grieving so much after all these years#but still he remains at his core a boy fascinated with what life has to offer#he's thrown into a strange universe and surrounded by the unknown but the first thing he does is celebrate because string theory is real!#and he isn't happy all the time--of course not. he is deeply and quietly sad#but his sadness has settled with age from the wild emotion it had been and he has learned to love life not without it but in light of it#so we see him so exuberant and hopeful and excited and passionate and caring and *full of love*#but the one place that love and optimism is lacking is for himself. he can't forgive himself. he can't believe in himself.#not the same way he can believe in these other versions of him. these better versions who haven't failed or been failed like he has#BUT THEY BELIEVE IN HIM. they love him how he can't love himself and they call him amazing and encourage him to not give up#and he loves them even more because of it. he was so vulnerable with them--because he always is--and this time#this time when he shared his love he found love for himself in return.#and that just makes me so emotional. <3#kay has a party in the tags#kay can i just catch my breath for a second#meta#my meta posts#quality meta seal of approval#not to hype my own post up i just put that on all meta posts so that i can find them#right in the feels#my ultimate favorite posts

Kai parker legacies your take ?
Hey, anon!
Okay, let me preface this first I don’t really watch legacies(yet at least) I mainly view/read from social-media with that show so if I say something wrong feel free to correct me.
I actually think Kai is one of the best villains in tvdu. Chris portrayal of him in general perfect. I wish legacies could’ve ignored the monster-like plot line for at least one ep and made it more into a Kai vs. The Saltzmans instead of Kai “bonding” with just Josie? I have heard that dark!josie was supposed to be inspired by Katherine and seen takes about how she’s more like Kai than Lizzie is so that could’ve been there reason. Imo, it just should’ve been a Kai vs. The Saltzmans thing.
Now, onto the other part. We learn that Kai had sexual relationship with Jade in the prison worlds. Of course he’s finally allowed to have any kind of physical or romantic relationship when the other partner is white & no where near resembling to Bonnie. When he originally spent most of his time with Bonnie..As if the writing couldn’t tailor a sexual/romantic relationship for Bonkai? They were already in the prison world for awhile so why was their relationship just so antagonistic? the writers just didn’t want the black girl to be lusted/adored after.
While we on the topic of bonkai what really makes that ship so different from other ships such Freelin/Delena/Klaroline/Kolvina etc?
“Bonnie completely hated Kai.” Hm, so did all the other women in these ships? What’s your point? It’s just that Bonnie is the only character to say she dislikes a character and it remained that way which we know why! I like bonkai. I’m not telling anyone what to ship or not ship. But they had the chemistry and the potential had they been pushed. Bonkai shippers get slandered often for shipping them together when it’s the same template for the other pairings in the show. This isn’t to excuse Kai’s actions either..but those characters got to get married/have kids etc…To add I wish people understood what you FICTIONALLY like does not equal to your in real life morals and you shouldn’t be penalized for enjoying something fictionally. I hope that gives an answer you were looking for!

Despite what happened between kai and bonnie do you think kai misses bonnie after all this time?
100% yes, cuz nothing else makes sense, canonically
so, what really gets me about bonkai is that the writers accidentally set them up as unfortunate forever soulmates because they're connected by so many things, but especially by this one experience only the two of them had and which only the two of them understand. no one else besides bonnie and kai has done the prison world experience completely alone. they're also the two people who have abandoned each other in the prison world on purpose and, in both cases, it felt like a form of personal betrayal. bonnie might have conflicted feelings about damon and elena and the prison world, but they are far less intense than what she feels for kai in relation to this very private experience. like, they had to go and make bonnie an OOC heretic in order to ramp up the drama between her and damon and her and enzo, when this conflict had already developed organically with kai a season earlier.
so, the ugliness and despair the prison world brought out of bonnie is only really understood by kai, and vice versa. like, elena & damon think they can appeal to kai's good/naive side and often underestimate him, but only bonnie knows how to tackle him, warts and all. bonnie is aware that she has a certain pull over kai, while being totally in denial about it. kai is pretty explicit about the pull he feels towards her, but he also plays it off as a fun, flirtatious dynamic when, in fact, it brings up a lot of raw emotions in him. they're both idiots about it, basically.
on top of all that, they're both witches hailing from powerful covens and have been deeply misunderstood by said covens/families. they're both prodigies in their own way and they've both operated with magic on their own, sometimes unorthodox, terms. the similarities only multiply from here.
so, given all that, i'd say kai will always miss bonnie, because she's not only "the one that got away" but literally the only person who could actually put up with him and see him for who he is. she's the only person he'd let himself feel things for. it's made clear that kai's other flings are always pragmatic/based on what he can get out of it. bonnie's that one equal with whom he'd be comfortable being vulnerable, mostly because bonnie has already made him vulnerable so many times. like sure, he also misses the cat-and-mouse games and their chemistry and banter, and i don't think he'd ever let himself be completely soft with her (bc i don't think she'd want that either), but a part of him definitely yearns to be understood. notice how many times he gets angry when people don't keep up or misinterpret his actions/intentions. bonnie is that special kind of enemy/partner that he can always rely on to get him. hell, it's canon that she can sense him through a cellphone.
the funny and bizarre tragedy of kai parker is that, for all his cons and tricks and calculated cold-bloodedness, he will forever be in earnest love with bonnie bennett, do-gooder and righteous witch who constantly decks him on sight. and he very much likes the fact that she decks him on sight. it's the funniest and most painful shit ever. i hate it here.
lol why...am i always in my bonkai feels with these asks

At first when I saw that video where Chris Wood says Kai would marry Bonnie, merge with Miss Cuddles and kill everyone else I thought of it as a joke, but now I feel it’s actually in character.
I mean Kai’s been watching Bonnie for about 4 months in the prison world, and saw how important that teddy bear is to her. So he puts it on display when she wakes up, and then brings it to her as a present when they are about to leave the prison world.
And then in 6x15, even though he is not with her anymore he still mentions the bear, he says to Jo “put your magic into a teddy bear and gimme”.
Even in Legacies the bear was mentioned as many times as Bonnie was mentioned. He tells Josie that that actually happened to him with a teddy bear once, and has a fond look on his face. And then even with Hope, he finds the ascendant in a plushie, and asks “why is it always the stuffed animals? It’s the weirdest thing.” Neither Josie nor Hope knows what he’s referring to, but he still feels the need to mention it. Miss Cuddles made a big impact on Kai almost as much as Bonnie.
It’s like what is important to Bonnie also became an important part for Kai, even after decades. 🥲

Didn’t know you liked bonenzo too! Bonnie fans are intimidating so I don’t want to ask them but I don’t get why Bonnie fans ignore Enzo
Tumblr media
Bonenzo is one of my top favorite ships. It helps that Bonnie is my favorite character in TVD and I just love Michael Malarkey.
I really can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I can say that I do think Bonenzo is often overlooked in the fandom, by both Bonnie stans and everyone else.
A big part of this is likely because we don't actually get to see a lot of their development. It all happens in a time jump and then we just get random flashbacks. I always viewed this as another slight from the writers. We get more scenes from side relationships like Mary Louise and Nora than we did from Bonnie and Enzo. I'm not saying we should have less, and I even liked Bonnie and Nora. But Bonnie deserved a more fleshed out relationship. I still love them, just wish it was more.
I also think people get upset that Bonnie wasn't paired with a "main" cast member. But I actually prefer it that way. Bonnie was far too good for any of the men in TVDU. They needed to bring in an outside person for her because she truly needs to leave Mystic Falls behind and create her own life for herself.
Essentially, people just prefer other ships over Bonenzo. I think the most common ships for Bonnie are pairing her with Klaus, Damon, or Kai. And, don't come at me, but I hate all of these ships. Each one of these men have hurt her and used her. They are also all incredibly toxic. Sure, Enzo was at a point, but he changed before they began dating. Bonnie deserves a person who fixed themselves first, not someone who requires her to hold them together. I've also said it before but I don't like any cross-over ships between New Orleans and Mystic Falls. There is too much bad blood and it just always feels unnecessary to me. The Mikaelsons served their purpose in MF and left. Bonnie going to New Orleans would just get her pulled into more drama where people would be relying on her to clean up their mess. Although, I would love to see Bonnie meet the NOLA witches. They could all learn so much from each other and it would just be incredibly powerful. I would just love a scene of Freya, Vincent, Davina, and Bonnie casting some epic spell.
All of that to say, Bonnie stans view Bonnie as a main character (as they should) and want her to have as powerful of a ship as like Delena or Steroline. I personally think Bonenzo is, but because he is more of a side character, some people disagree and want more for her.
I also think people in this fandom just really love the toxic ships so when there is a ship that is just happy and healthy, they think it's boring. But again, I can't speak for everyone. These are just some observations I've had.
Let me know what you think. Also, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!
Thanks for the ask!

One thing the Bonkai fandom is gonna do is make me fall down a rabbit hole of so many headcanon and possible theories. I love how Bonkai shippers don’t just have a great imagination when it comes to Bonnie and Kai but also extend this to other Bennetts. Like I saw a headcanon about Abby and Mikael, another about Lucy and Mason. I wish there was a fic out there that included an extensive flashback about Abby luring Mikael away from MF and how she did it.
I think I can safely say that by the time I get round to writing the part of Long Shadows that flashes back (in a weird sense) to the time that Abby lured and captured Mikael, most readers (whoever's left lol) would have forgotten I posted this.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but Mikael was trapped and Abby left her family in 1994...

I often use pinterest and tumblr to find images but I also use deviant art - pexels - etc.usf.edu because they give the option to download images free of rights.
For high quality screenshots of tvd I really like screencaped.net ( my favs ) kissthemgoodbye is also very good.
To create gifs I use photoshop, hitfilms and smartphone apps. I also use online websites: imgflip and lunapic (tutorial here) To create edits and digital painting use photoshop and Rebelle 7. I'm trying to move on from photoshop subscription hell so I'm curently learning to use other apps like rebelle, krita and clip studio paint. To draw on my phone I use Sketchbook & to create moodboards and such I use the app Pixrl on my phone. I also use regular tools for traditional art :) I use mega to download scenes extracts and hitfilm to edits my videos. You can find megas link on instagram and youtube.

Great point about him not mentioning the linking spell ! -I wouldn't be surprised if the writers just forgot loll. But it would've made so much sense for Kai to use undoing that spell as a bargaining chip.
Also, the tiny detail of him in that very last gif saying "Bon ?" When Bonnie actually does leave -not saying her full name and instead saying "Bon" like the way people close to her say it, feels very personal, all his bravado is suddenly gone and he sounds kinda vulnerable. The use of her name like that, -feels like a strangely intimate way to call out to your "enemy" imo 🤭
Bonkai Reunion 8 x14 (Part 3)
 How the Tables Turn
I want you to take a moment to focus individually on Kai and Bonnie’s expression in the gif below as I believe it is one of the most important moments between them in the scene. And it affects how the last bit of their conversation plays out

Do you prefer Kai with or without the beard?! Why
WITHOUT!! Always without! 😂Ok besides his 1994 clean-shaven fetus look, I also really liked his post-merge and Season 8 stubble, but his Legacies FULL beard felt unlike Kai Parker to me. I mean, sure, it highlighted how many years had passed since 2018 and that he was old enough to be the Legacies characters’ uncle, but the ESSENCE of Kai is this ageless Peter Pan who’s both, too immature for his real 40+ age, AND too bitter and vengeful for his body’s young 20+ age because of the decades of his life that he lost while he was stuck in 1994, then literal hell, and then 2018. I guess you could say he’s literally a.. *ahem* LOST boy. (I’ll let myself out) But yeah, that’s why I think clean-shaven Kai, and stubble Kai (to show that the Merge gave Kai the ability to finally start emotionally growing and maturing) capture Kai’s chaotic energy better than a full beard, which I feel would only work for him at a point in his life when he’s idk grown, matured, or settled down (which, knowing him, who tf knows when/if that’ll ever happen?? Unless perhaps Bonnie Bennett was involved somehow? LMAO) Thanks for your question! I’m somehow both surprised and not surprised I managed to ramble meta about facial hair of all things hahahaa

No Way Home awakened something in me and I am now absolutely obsessed with Andrew Garfield and specifically his Peter Parker and specifically the deleted alternate ending scene from TASM2, a movie which I had never cared for at all and kind of hated, but I was so wrong just oh my goodness he's such an amazing actor, and his Peter is such a compelling character and I love him so much and I am so emotional about it and now NWH hits even harder and I want to see it again and basically, four days after seeing it, I am a mess because we GOT THE HAPPY ENDING and that matters so much!!
