“Akamatsu-san? Why aren’t you coming?”

Kaede froze in place, the shot put still in her hands. She met Saihara’s terrified gaze with one of her own, shaking from head to toe.

Saihara reentered the lookout classroom, “I don’t understand.”

Kaede’s arms fell to her sides, “I’m so… I’m so sorry, I… Saihara-kun, I planned to…”

Saihara adjusted his hat, “There’s no time. Come on, you can explain later.”

Kaede glanced at the vent again. She could throw it, throw it now in front of Saihara and have him be witness to her murder.

No. The mastermind might be gone by now. She’d missed her chance.

She nodded silently to Saihara and ran out with him, clutching the shot put tight in her arms. They reached the basement in seconds, pushing past Kaito and Tenko, who were in the hallway.

“Hey, where the hell are you two-“

“Library!” Saihara shouted, throwing the door open.

Kaede dashed inside on his heels, while the astronaut and the aikidoka came in just after.

They had just missed the closing of the hidden door.

“Tenko still doesn’t understand what’s happening here!”

“Yeah! Why are you guys so worked up?!”

Kaede met Saihara’s eyes. Together, they delved further into the library, only to come to a complete halt at the sight of an identical, bloodstained shot put, and Rantarou Amami, who was dead on the floor.

Tenko screamed loud enough to burst an eardrum.

She almost didn’t notice as Saihara pried the shot put from her grip and hid it inside her backpack.

As the others began running in, Kaede whispered, “It’s all up to you, Saihara-kun. I can’t help anymore.”

Not that she was helping in the first place.

Kaede seeing Shuichi without his cap

My first request! Thanks so much for requesting this! I can’t disclose the actual request because it contained spoilers (and because I accidentally deleted it like a fool) so I’m putting it separately!

Set in a normal, non-despair, AU!

Shuichi Saihara has always wore a cap on his head ever since he solved his first case. He refused to take it off because it brought him comfort--he doesn’t have to worry if he can just block out the things he doesn’t want to see, right?

Kaede Akamatsu wants him to see the beauty in the world, and the beauty in himself. She has been the light in Shuichi’s life ever since they met; she was always there for him to lend a shoulder and hear out his problems. She had assured him that life will get better. Her optimistic personality has completely won him over. So maybe this time... he can try to live life confidently and with his head held high.

When Shuichi showed up to Kaede’s house without a cap on, she didn’t even recognize him at first. He looked embarrassed, trying his best to maintain eye contact without looking away bashfully.

“Hey there, Kaede.” he greeted.

“Hi...” Kaede didn’t even realize she was holding her breath until she spoke. All she could see was Shuichi and how amazing he looked without his cap on. She could clearly look at his eyes now without a shadow casting down upon his face.

“You look really handsome, Shuichi. You should’ve taken off your cap sooner!” she smiled brightly, a blush dusting her cheeks.

“Ah, well...” Shuichi looked down and messed with his hair, a smile on his face too.

“I really love that I can see your entire face now.” she adds, her blush growing deeper.

Shuichi was at a loss for words and just sputtered nonsense, making Kaede giggle.

She hums and takes Shuichi’s hand in her before pulling him inside her house. It was warm and a bit clammy from embarrassment but that’s what she loved most about him. “Well... We should head inside. Our duet can’t wait forever, Shuichi!”

Shuichi smiles and Kaede is very glad to see the twinkle in his beautiful eyes. “Yeah.”

-They love going on dates.

-Whenever they're free they go on walks holding hands.

-Kaede likes to sneak up in the night to Saihara's room and cuddle with him.

-Saihara always wakes up earlier and is always surprised when he sees his girlfriend hugging him.

-It's not like he's complaining or something.

-He actually loves kissing her in the morning without waking her up.

-Saihara loves playing with Kaede's hair.

-Sometimes he would ask Tsumugi for some hair advice to impress Kaede.

-Saihara sends a lot of text messages to Kaede. Mostly asks her how is her day asking her if she ate already or wishing her a good day.

-They would often glance at each other in school. -Stealing kisses when no ones looking.

-Saihara likes lying on Kaede's lap and when she's pets him.

-Kaede's surprisingly likes giving Saihara hickeys, of course not in visible places.

-Siahara loves listening to Kaede playing piano and he even has it recorded on his phone so he can listen to it whenever he wants to (he has it set as a ringtone too).

-Once Kaede read somewhere that people in relationships should use nicknames. Kaede was so excited about it that when Saihara came back home she called him "darling". Sahara was so surprised and started to blush, really bad. To repay Kaede he called her "honey" and she got really embarrassed. -They like to tease each other with nicknames from that day. - Holding hands. Just holding hands.

- Saihara oftens gets sick because he never takes care of himself and so Kaede has to take care of him. She already got used to it and she's pretty good at it! Two or three days and he's healthy again!
