Only the beginning and here’s to more! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️ ________________________ Behind The Walls, Lies Our Foundation. 54x54 Inches Oil on Canvas I was inspired by the James Baldwin and William F Buckley debate in 1965, where Baldwin expresses “The American Dream is at the expense of the American Negro”. In this piece, I’m looking to shed light on the foundation of America. This Victorian era home is depicted with a giant hole in its center, opening a window into the true foundation of its original builders. The whole in the wall can also take the form as a “family portrait” of sorts, where the occupants would normally hang their own family portrait. Our country’s history is seldom told from the perspective of those who were force to build it. Here’s my addition to the conversation. I look to illustrate the engine behind the luxury, overlapping Americas’s perception and our truth.
