what the nublar six do at swimming pools

darius: mostly chills in the shallow end with brooklynn. can swim competently but isn't confident if his feet can't touch the floor. kenji has tried taking him into the deep end and encouraging him to swim small distances but he'd rather not

ben: tries to sit on the bottom of the pool for as long as possible or skim his stomach along it. runs poolside. doesnt wear goggles, just opens those big ol eyes underwater

kenji: total water baby. does a ton of laps before getting bored and splashing everyone. king of cannonballs. can hold his breath for ages but usually floats on his stomach when doing it so people worry he's drowned 💀

yaz: 8 years of diving lessons, you say? she doesn't care to dive much but praise from sammy will have her going many times. also does speed laps. wears a nose clip bc she cant stand the feeling of water going up her nose

sammy: either floats on her back or dives with kenji and yaz. if she's floating, chances are someone will grab a leg or arm and drag her somewhere. splash fights with kenji entail everyone else vacating the area. brings along a beach ball for games

brooklynn: chills with darius, sometimes just at the side of the pool. not that interested in being in the water and will sunbathe instead. if she gets in the water it'll be on a floatie with a cool drink. used to poke her fingers in the drains as a kid

Yo, we need in every season of Chaos Theory to have a scene where Yas and Sammy asks each other if they want to cause some chaos and the other immediately agrees only for it to be like in the first season where they get disappointed till the final and then it's balls to the wall and a little to much chaos. Ben is screaming at them why they'd even send that vibe out into the universe given their track record.

Long-Distance Yasammy HCs

Just some post-canon long-distance relationship HCs for Yasammy for y'all during the count down to Chaos Theory <3

Yaz struggles HARD with the long distance. She trusts Sammy with every fiber of her being, but every once in a while, she worries that Sammy will move on since they don't see each other much.

Conversely, Sammy worries that Yaz will get so caught up in track that she'll eventually get tired of keeping up with the relationship.

They video call a LOT, especially when they're doing homework, relaxing, or just when they need to hear each other's voices (which is often)

They also host virtual watch parties so they, and the rest of the Nublar Six if their schedules line up, can watch movies and chat together.

After the semi-isolation of being on Isla Nublar for so long, Yaz starts to get overstimulated at school and when she's in big groups. Whenever she does (and can't calm down on her own), she calls Sammy, who always manages to make her feel better.

Yaz sends Sammy postcards every time she goes on a trip for a track competition. Sammy creates a scrapbook with them.

After Yaz expresses how much she misses her, Sammy mails her one of her hoodies. Even though it's a bit big on her, Yaz starts wearing it to school and to track meets whenever she can. She also likes snuggling up with it in her downtime.

For holidays and just whenever they want, they send each other gifts through the mail. Sammy prefers things like stuffed animals and cute keychains, while Yaz prefers more practical things like sketchbooks and art supplies. Though Sammy does send her some cute things too, which she's secretly obsessed with because they remind her of Sammy.

They have a mutual understanding that they won't call each other past a certain time unless it's an emergency (like a nightmare). When this does happen, the other is more than willing to wake up and talk for a bit.

Yaz doesn't officially celebrate most holidays, so when she gets the chance, she flies to Texas to celebrate them with Sammy and her family.

Whenever she can't visit, Sammy puts her on a video call so that Yaz can feel like she's part of the festivities. This is always the best during Christmas since Sammy's family also sends Yaz gifts and gets to watch her open them.

They initially plan for Yaz to fly to Texas for her birthday, but it falls through because of an important upcoming track meet. Yaz is devastated by the whole thing, so her mom secretly pays for Sammy to visit them for the week.

Yaz is over the moon about the surprise. She's also excited that Sammy will finally get to attend one of her track competitions (naturally, Sammy cheers for her super loudly the whole time)

At some point, Sammy gets sick and goes radio-silent for a while. Yaz FREAKS out and nearly runs out the door to try and hitch-hike to Texas before her mom stops her. Eventually, Sammy responds and tells her what happened, and Yaz starts checking in on her more regularly until she gets better.

Because of how much time they spend apart, they always get shy when they're together again. But once they get comfortable, they're just as touchy and cutesy as ever.

And they're both pretty bad at kissing :p lack of practice and all that.

Sammy likes reading bedtime stories to Yaz over the phone. It helps calm them both down if they're feeling particularly anxious (since sleeping on the Island was always dangerous and that anxiety sticks with them)

When Yaz visits the ranch, she's AWFUL with the animals. Sammy just finds her fumbling and struggling adorable, even if she teases her about it.

Sammy cries out of joy when Yaz reveals her plans to attend college in Texas :)

Age order of the Nublar Six

Okay. So like, I know people have their headcanons and shit, but I want to know if there is any ACTUAL confirmed age order besides what we already know. Like, I know Darius is the youngest, followed by Brooklynn, then Ben & Sammy, and finally Yaz & Kenji. But I scoured the interwebs and I couldn’t find anything confirming who was the oldest. I’ve seen some people say Yaz, some people say Kenji. Is there a definite answer or are we going based on headcanon?

If that’s the case, lemme cook here. This is all based on my own observations with my own headcanons sprinkled in. Feel free to disagree or call me out if canon contradicts anything.

Yaz: Oldest.

Born April 13, 2000.

10th grade/Sophomore in high school.

She drives the van in S1, indicating that she also has her learner's permit. Unlike Kenji, she seems to have a better grasp on driving, which means she's likely been doing it longer.

I headcanon that Yaz is from Seattle, Washington. The legal age to get a learner's permit in Washington is 15, which checks out.

She's always felt like the oldest to me, just based on how she acts. Obviously her maturity doesn't directly correlate with her age, but I think there is usually some overlap with that.

Kenji: Second oldest.

Born October 19th, 2000.

10th grade/Sophomore in high school. He is technically supposed to be a freshman due to cut-off dates, but his dad paid to have him move up a grade to be around people who would “be a better influence” on him.

He mentions that his dad locked the penthouse because he failed algebra, which is typically a course taken in freshman year, and Kenji doesn’t seem like the type of guy to take advanced classes.

I headcanon that Kenji is from Miami, Florida (based purely on the fact that my beta-reader said "he looks like a creature from Miami"). The legal age to get a learner's permit in Miami is 15.

Kenji has his learner's permit, but isn't comfortable behind the wheel, indicating that he hasn't been driving for very long.

(he kind of acts like a freshman. no shade but some of y'all are annoying as fuck. love kenji tho <3)

Sammy: Upper middle.

Born March 29, 2001.

9th grade/Freshman in high school.

She gives big sister vibes, so I feel like she would be next up.

Ben: Lower middle.

Born August 26, 2001.

9th grade/Freshman in high school.

He would be one of the youngest in his grade due to cutoff dates.

It just feels right to me.

Brooklynn: Second Youngest.

Born May 17, 2002.

8th grade.

She is taught by 100% online tudors so it’s hard to determine where she falls on the education scale, but I would assume she learns at an accelerated rate.

Darius: Youngest.

Born January 4th, 2003.

8th grade.

I think he turned 13 pretty early on.

He’s one year ahead in school, so although he SHOULD be in 7th grade, he’s actually in 8th grade. This could have happened for numerous reasons, but I'm just gonna say he was smart and skipped a grade because the school recommended it.

Obviously, a lot of this is just shit I made up, so feel free to disagree. Or, if you like any of these headcanons and want to use them in your own work, go right ahead! No need to credit me. This is how I’m gonna do it in my fic lol. But I’d love to hear other people’s opinions/analyses!

I’m bored so here are some headcanons of the nublar 6 playing Minecraft (inspired)

Darius: He tries to make it to the end with everyone but fails because everyone else gets distracted. He also loves building small wooden houses.

Brooklyn: She streams for her followers and tries to make it to the end with Darius. She also loves making cherry blossom houses.

Kenji: He’s pretty scared of the monsters at night so he digs a hole in the side of a mountain and hides there til morning. He also digs straight down even when everyone tells him not too.

Ben: CONSTANTLY lighting things and people on fire and running away, causing Darius to threaten to ban him. He also loves exploring dark caves and fighting the monsters.

Sammy: makes a cute house for her and Yaz to live in, with a farm and everything. She loves collecting animals and refuses to kill them.

Yazmina: Lives with Sammy in the little house she built. Has to secretly kill the animals so they have food to eat. She also likes collecting flowers around the map for Sammy

Okay based on the trailer I would like to make some headcanons :3

- what I noticed was that Darius' first instinct when he heard a noise outside; that his first instinct was to immediately zap it, no thought about what it could be, he just used that zappy thing with no hesitation, and was genuinely surprised to see Ben.

- and it wasn't Ben's first time catching the rod either, you could see he wasn't phased at all, he just said like calmly "Hey Darius :]" so I like to think that Ben knows that Darius is scared and traumatised from the island, and he expects Darius to lash out with the rod, which is why he reacted so quickly.

📌 - also that Darius has like 394777 things set up to make noise if anything passes, like to get warned beforehand, you can really tell he's genuinely paranoid

- I feel like Isla Nublar ruined dinosaurs for him, yes, he still loves them. But he wasn't as paranoid about them as he is in Chaos theory, he admired them in camp cretaceous but now it just feels like he's scared, scared of whatever dinosaur there is. Even if it's little.

- why is Ben so tall (i personally LOVE his design but they could give him a fringe or something he looks like a dad 😭)

- DARIUS' FRECKLES. NO EXPLANATION NEEDED.

- Someone is hunting them, the conclusion I came up with is Kenji's dad, he was so pissed off that he got defeated by 6 teenagers. A millionaire with mind controlled Dinos.

- In conclusion I'd genuinely like chaos theory to focus more on Darius' issues, which I feel like were never really brought up in JWCC. Like yeah they brought up Ben's "death" and his dad's death, but they didn't bring up Kash, how he was forced to hurt both his friends and the animals he loves(d), how he was the leader at the ages of 12-13 and how he would do anything to get the others off the island. Yes I have my hopes up for benrius, but I genuinely hope that Darius gets to open up about how he feels, during and after the island.

Yasammy Week ~ Day 4: Engagement/Wedding

When Ben Pincus started to cheer loudly, as if he were at a football game instead of a wedding and a touchdown had been made, Sammy and Yaz almost jumped out of their skin. Glancing around, their friends appeared to be just as startled, but they jumped right in to applaud as well. After wiping the tears from her eyes, Sammy gave Yaz a big smile, which she had to return.

They interlocked their fingers; time seemed to be moving slow as they took everything in, looking between their friends and their families, and then at each other. They’d join the others at the Reception, then go through the long winded process of moving Yaz’s belongings to the Gutierrez Farmhouse; and finally, they’d face whatever came next;

Gosh, this drawing took me what? 19 hours? Most of it was spent on getting the Nublar 4 down there to look like they were actually sitting on a pew (Darius still looks funky to me).

Did you know red wedding dresses symbolize celebration and good fortune? :3 This takes place, like, post Chaos Theory, so technically their future-future looks are up to debate still. I actually referenced both Sammy and Yaz’s concept art for their hairstyles, we were robbed of Butch Sammy/j.

Ok, even MORE MORE Yasammy headcanons. This one's gonna be a little more lighthearted, but I'm happy everyone is enjoying my more "mature" headcanons, I do have some more ideas for the future, but for this one I'm just gonna jot some things down and you guys can tell me your favorites or what you want more of.

*Yaz was initially hesitant about living in Texas, with the heat, the humidity, the creepy crawly little animals, (scorpions, tarantulas, etc...). But when she told that to Sammy, and Sammy immediately was prepared to move somewhere else with her, Yaz decided to stay.

* Sammy's favorite game is checker's (I'm referring to the actual game, not when the two of them "play checkers", tho she enjoys that as well. Look at my other headcanons if you're confused).

*For their anniversary, Yaz got Sammy a Rottweiler puppy that a shelter had found in a box in the rain. Sammy must have kissed Yaz 46 times she was so excited.

*On the farm they raise animals and vegetables mostly for food for themselves as well as to sell at markets and restaurants. But they always donate to the food bank as well.

*They both took the same knitting class online without the other knowing so they could make Christmas gifts for each other. Sammy made Yaz a sweater with a smiley face, and Yaz made Sammy some mittens with cows on them.

*Yaz is afraid of water, after her whole thing about almost drowning when the scorpius chased her (and almost drowning in Ben's van). So Sammy got her a rubber duck floaty, like those things that go around your waste in the water, but as a rubber duck. Sammy didn't think Yaz would actually wear it, it was supposed to be a joke, but Yaz wears it proudly every time she goes swimming even after she gets over her fear of water.

Sammy is a true Texan prt 2

Head cannon that at some point they all had trouble getting enough food from just berries so they have to start chasing the goats that were abandoned for the carnivores.

It's the first time the rest of the campers had goat, it's also the first time they learned all you need to gut a critter was a semi sharp rock and good 'ol determination.

Sammy then proceeds to go on a round up so they have their own little herd, plenty of milk and meat as need.

It does tend to attract some unsavory dinos though.

Kenji Kon Headcanons pt.1 (been gatekeeping them)

When he was younger his Dad had very low standards of him, and believed he was incompetent and couldn't do anything. And out of spite Kenji would be as incompetent as possible and be lazy all the time and at a point he just kinda started being "lazy".

Every time he tried to be useful. Like making dinner or cleaning around the house. He ended up messing up, and then he'd burst into tears because it hurts worse when he was 'incompetent' on accident then on purpose. And his dad would just be like "oh Kenji, I wasn't expecting much from you anyways. The maids can do it." In his manipulative soft spoken voice.

Kenji is actually really good at cooking guys. He just never does it. But he would usually hang with the maids and cleaners and cooks who actually gave a damn about him unlike some people. And he gained skills from them. He's just too scared to ever apply them.

He has the worst self confidence, but he acts confident in everything that he does anyways.

The kool aid man is on his "hear me out cake" and "smash cake" for some odd reason. And he is PROUD OF THAT.

He has ADHD actually. But he doesn't know it until his adult years, and it explains so much about him.

He actually really loves reading comics and novels and stuff. And has at some point written fanfiction about *that one detective show* which is also a book because I say so.

Cries watching Bluey. He's favourite characters are Mackenzie and Bandit Heeler (cause he's a good dad).

Cries anytime he sees a healthy dad and child relationship in anything. Bro cried watching finding Nemo for goodness sake.

Percy Jackson's Apollo was his bisexual awakening. Mainly Lester from ToA, and he despised ZEUS mainly because of how shit of a father he is to Apollo. And it made him realise that huh, maybe his father was not a good father. (Let's pretend the timeline for Toa matches with the timeline of his teenage years😭)

Okay technically since ToA wasn't there for him as a teen. Let's just say that Apollo from greek mythology in general was his ACTUAL gay awakening. He knew he was bisexual in his teen years!! Just isn't that verbal about it tho. It happened when he was like 14 and had already read PJO and discovered Apollo fanart. And got real into greek mythology. Fricking bi panicked when he discovered feminine Apollo art and GOSHHHHH!!

He wears a buncha bracelets on his right hand. Half of them are the friendship bracelets the camp fan made eachother, and the others are ones he finds cute. And he has exchanged one with Brooklynn. He also has a black leather bracelet with three beads of the bisexual flag.

Wanted to do ballet when he was younger, but his dad stopped him. Telling him that it would ruin the Kon reputation and he was like eight. So, he cried because of that.

DAY 3: Favorite Ship

For this third day it was impossible for me to choose between my two main ships and writing for both would become too complex for my poor burnt neurons.

So I decided to create something nice with this lovely picrew for both!

As a timeline, I projected them after all the events of Chaos Theory (Yes, I am a big supporter of Brooklynn is Sydney theory)

I wanted to give a change of look to Darius and I must say that I really like that hairstyle on him, while for Brooklynn I tried to make her hair a little more wavy still keeping them short, also imagine them in a more purple shade. I added some scars because yeah, something was missing without them!

While for Yaz and Sammy, there is not much to say, they would be perfect in any context, come on look at them!! But I must admit that the pirate style shirt on our cowgirl has really conquered me!

No bc I'm so mad rn I usually post my rants on ig stories but I need the tumblrites to tell me if I'm crazy or what. Jwcc/ct spoilers WHATEVER

First of all I want to preface this by saying that this is just my opinion on the matter, I'm not saying your headcanons are "wrong" or whatever tf, it's a kids cartoon where they unironically use terms like "fam". You can play with the characters however you'd like.

That being said, this is why TO ME it does not makes sense for Ben to be anything other than gay. Again, if you think he's bi or straight or anything else that's cool. I'm also leaning towards the opinion that he does actually have a girlfriend. I don't think the shows gonna pull a 180 on it because, realistically, 2 queer characters is already a lot for a DreamWorks kids show. As much as I'd like it not to be.

But, since the beginning, Ben has been very clearly coded as exclusively into men to me. Before finally going into it, I remind everyone on here that I'm a lesbian. I have felt an affinity with his character specifically for the experience of only liking the same gender. I might be totally projecting.

Ok, so.

1. The arc Ben goes through during the show is yes, one of self discovery, but also one of self acceptance. He changes a lot from the start of s1, but he also comes to terms with stuff himself or other people didn't like about him. He doesn't throw the dork pouch away or tells Kenji to keep it, the first thing he does when he takes it back from Kenji is put on hand sanitizer. He is covered in dirt, he's not afraid of filth anymore, but he still does that action because it's part of who he is as a person. He also becomes very unashamed at the things he does. He went from being embarrassed of his carob bars to eating grubs in front of people who he knows think it's gross. He knows himself as he is and he accepts it. To me (and to lots of other people) this works very well as a gay metaphor, and pairs up pretty nicely with the whole "jungle boy? Jungle MAN" arc being a trans metaphor. But how does this make Ben uniquely into men?

Well, it doesn't. But I think this next one does.

2. Enter Yasmina. She's pretty, she's smart, athletic, funny, all that good stuff. I'm not saying that means every wlm character should automatically be into her, but it certainly helps. Now forgive me if I don't remember specific episodes/seasons, but we all remember that episode where Ben convinces himself that Yaz is in love with him for some reason. When he "rejects" her, he says : "I'm just now starting to find myself". That's cool, cause I'm pretty sure Ben's " finding himself " personality wise was over and done a couple of seasons ago. To me, that is a really good hint at him dealing with his gayness.

3. He's also the first person Yasmina talks to about her feelings for Sammy. Now, in this particular context, the options for Yaz to talk to were Darius, Brooklynn, or Ben. It would initially seem to make more sense for her to confide in Brooklynn, since the two of them are far closer than her and Ben, and it also wouldn't be the first time she brings up Sammy as a romantic interest for Yaz (see: everyone tweaking abt that one line back in like s2). So why does Yasmina, a very private and reserved person, choose Ben to talk to about her same sex crush? She has probably gathered from the previous conversation that Ben relates to her struggle in a unique way in which Brooklynn just can't. Ben seems very receptive of what Yaz is saying ("feelings, am I right?") and it seems like he REALLY gets where she's coming from.

4. This is one I don't see talked about a lot, and maybe it's just cause I'm too out of the loop with the fandom, but I want to examine it as well. It's when Ben decides to not actually stay on the island. Everyone (except Sammy) already knew he wasn't going to stay in the end, but still didn't force him out. I think this is especially clear in a line Darius says when they reunite on the boat that goes something like "you needed to figure it out on your own" *smile hand on shoulder combo*. No explanation needed I think
