the reason behind the feeling in his chest — the reason behind the racing thoughts and uneven heartbeat.

he presses the heel of his hands against his eyes, trying and failing to breathe at a more normal pace in an attempt to calm his beating heart: with thoughts of their first meeting still fresh in his mind, swirling around and refusing to disappear, it was hard to control it.

the sound of the rain shower outside only made it worse — he used to hate the rain, think it a nuisance.

sunjae shakes his head, letting out a deep breath as he tries to put a stop to the thoughts showering his mind with snapshots of her.

dropping his arms back to his sides, he opens his eyes and turns his head back towards the window, staring at the downpour-

and that’s when it happens.

a soft melody starts playing in his head, a melody shortly followed by a sudden flash of a bright smile, of the colour yellow-

sunjae has never officially studied music, never professionally gotten any lessons, but music has always followed him one way or another.

something, he thinks, his mother left behind, just for him.

maybe this was how he could get this restless feeling to ease — maybe he just needed to get it out and onto paper, onto something.

swinging his legs off the bed and on to the floor, sunjae sits up and reaches out towards his desk, pulling an old notebook and pen towards him.

he stops just as pen hits paper and wonders — was she like sunshine to him? or was she like rain? a sudden unexpected shower, a surprise downpour — a gift from the heavens, as it changes everything it touches.

he taps the tip of the pen against the paper for a moment, pondering.

she was a mix of both — his very own shelter from the rain; his light in the dark — while also bringing in a new beginning, a refreshing change that shook him to his core.

in those few seconds where his gaze met her bright shimmering eyes, his entire world had shifted — as the rain crashed down around them and seeped into the cracks in the ground, she had already settled into his heart.

mind decided, he writes down the first words to what would one day be a worldwide hit, a ballad to his first and only love:

Just finished Annihilation and... I have never, ever felt so seen by a protagonist. Sometimes I like characters, but I treat them as a separate entity from myself. I have now had the deeply pleasurable experience of reading Lovecraft for Scientists and I want to bask in this awe forever.

Sitting here trying to figure out why I love Gale's cocksure confidence in his own ability and how it translates to this softer but equally as confident devotion to whoever's romancing him, and with this silly goofier side of him we often get to see that should be more awkward for how bookish and dorky it is, but really just ends up as stupidly endearing when paired with that cockiness.

And then I'm looking at pictures of my first video game obsession (Garrus Vakarian) and going "oh no"

Of course the "why doesn't Batman use his money to fix the system instead of punching the mentally ill" twitter argument is dumb and missing the point (Bruce is not a real person, he did invest a lot of money into helping people in need when he was still rich, it's an action comic, which means violence is going to happen and Gotham is not meant to be fixed, if it was fixed there would be no story), but these past few runs have deconstructed Bruce so much that the people of Gotham or public figures like mayor Nakano thinking Batman is a menace do actually have a point.

I mean, who has Bruce been fighting this entire run? Failsafe and Zur, two evil Batmen of Bruce's own creation. And even in the runs before Zdarsky it was kind of a running theme that Bruce wasn't fighting to save the city from an strange threat, he was fighting someone who had a bone to pick with him for one reason or another. I get that this is supposed to make the story feel more personal, but if you're also constantly asking the question "is Batman doing more harm than good?" then the answer might eventually be "more harm" if you had to be honest. A lot of the many recent takeovers of Gotham had nothing to do with Gotham, they were all about Bruce.

Superhero comics kind of need to have what their protagonists are doing to be helpful though. Of course Batman is not ever going to stop crime in Gotham. But if things don't improve at all or get even worse? Then what did Bruce and his family members sacrifice so much for? And if you seriously think their struggles should have been for nothing because the idea of heroes saving the day is stupid then why are you even writing superhero comics?

Cynical Reviews just dropped a video on an anti-choice propaganda film called "Unplanned" and I cannot believe the balls they had to blatantly lie like this. Actually, I can, because pro-lifers will eat up any anti-abortion propaganda you put in front of them.

I love how this movie deifies the protestors who stand outside of Planned Parenthood and scream "WHORE!!! MURDERER!!!" at teenage girls who are just there for a pap smear or whatever. All while making PP staff look like heartless monsters who laugh about dead babies and force abortions on unwilling girls. I honestly have nothing but disgust for propaganda like this.

One thing about me when I'm done watching something is: Looking out for the casts' IMDB/Google to look for their date of birth and their height (also their previous works).

"Damn. He's older than my parents??”

"Aye, I didn't expect her to be THAT tall."

"EXCUSE ME??? HE WAS ON THAT MOVIE? THAT CHARACTER???”

I like to play with the heights. For example:

That one time I found out that Jeremy Irons is taller than Henry Cavill, I was like "ALFRED IS TALLER THAN SUPERMAN???”

That one time I found out about OG Jurassic Park trio's heights; I didn't expect for them to be that tall, it just that they doesn't really have much on the height difference, bUT they all three are TALL tall.

The day when I found out Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds has the same height (this is prior to Deadpool & Wolverine movie). It was like— yesterday.

Robert Sean Leonard is taller than Sylvester Stallone. (Actually, I found out about it because I was watching Driven (2001), but then went to IMDB to confirm it)

Vin Diesel is "shorter" than I thought. I thought he's probably like 6'2 or something; but, no.

Etc.
