WARNING: May Contain Potential Spoilers for DC vs. Vampires: World War V #6!
Darkseid has just admitted that he sees one member of the Bat-Family as his equal. While it might seem obvious that Batman would be the one to earn the New Gods' respect, Darkseid is actually not referring to the Dark Knight. Furthermore, this revelation may unfold in an Elseworlds storyline, but its impact is just as significant as if it were part of mainstream continuity. After all, there’s only one Darkseid in the entire multiverse, meaning this acknowledgment of respect is coming directly from the main man himself.

Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt’s DC vs. Vampires saga continues with its thrilling sequel, World War V, which has just reached its climactic midpoint with the release of issue #6. In this issue, the vampire-human conflict reaches a boiling point as all-out war erupts on the battlefield between Oliver Queen’s human resistance and Vampire Queen Barbara Gordon’s vampire horde.
Dc vs vampires world war v #7 darkseid main cover
This series stands out as one of DC’s bloodiest Elseworlds tales, with a body count that may rival DCeased. Among the fallen are numerous Bat-Family members, including Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Batwoman, and more. However, amid the chaos, Darkseid has just acknowledged that he views Batgirl as his equal.

DC vs. Vampires: World War V #6 delivers a major twist at the end with the unexpected introduction of Darkseid into the narrative. As the bloody battle rages on between humans and vampires, Darkseid makes his grand entrance, approaching Batgirl, who stands beside Aquaman, observing the carnage from above. Without wasting a moment on pleasantries, Darkseid declares, “I am Darkseid, Ruler of Apokolips. I assume you are Gordon, Ruler of Earth?” While this might seem like a casual introduction at first, it quickly becomes a jaw-dropping revelation: Darkseid considers the Batgirl of Earth-63 his equal.
By referring to both himself and Batgirl as "Rulers of…" Darkseid is unmistakably acknowledging their parity. In this moment, Barbara is positioned as his Earth counterpart—a ruler of a planet, just as he is with Apokolips. The way he addresses her with what can only be described as respect further underscores this, signaling that he views her as an equal. Notably, he doesn’t even acknowledge Aquaman’s presence at the beginning of their interaction, which only serves to highlight the respect Batgirl has earned from the New God to be addressed directly and with such recognition.

Honestly, Darkseid SHOULD Respect Batgirl (& Here’s Why)
Comic Panel Comes From DC vs. Vampires #12 (2022) – Art by Otto Schmidt
DC vs Vampires World War V #12 Batgirl is Vampire Queen Kills Nightwign
Although it’s surprising that Darkseid admits to viewing the Batgirl of Earth-63 as his equal, it’s a recognition she fully deserves. The Batgirl of this universe has shown a ruthlessness and ambition that rival even the New God’s. The first indication of her potential came when she killed what most would consider her one true love, Nightwing. This shocking moment occurred at the end of DC vs. Vampires #12, revealing just how cold and calculating Barbara could be—and it only escalated from there.
After killing Dick, Barbara swiftly claimed his sovereignty as her own, demonstrating the kind of ruthlessness and ambition that would surely earn Darkseid’s approval. But she didn’t stop there. Batgirl wasn’t satisfied with merely being the Queen of the Vampires; she sought to become the undisputed ruler of Earth, a goal she achieved through brutal bloodshed—sacrificing friends, family, and allies alike. Batgirl accomplished what even Nightwing could not during his reign—total domination of the planet—driving most of Earth’s heroes into hiding or forcing them to make deals with her. Considering all that Batgirl has achieved in this universe, it’s no surprise that Darkseid views her with such respect.
Darkseid Just Killed Aquaman. How Will Batgirl Fair Against the New God?
Comic Panel Comes From DC vs. Vampires: World War V #6 (2025) – Art by Otto Schmidt
Dc vs vampires world war v #6 darkseid killing aquaman
While Darkseid may view Batgirl as an equal, that doesn’t mean she’s exempt from his wrath. As revealed in DC vs. Vampires: World War V #6, Darkseid has come to Earth-63 in search of his granddaughter. When Aquaman boasts about killing the infant, the New God wastes no time, crushing him in his fist and declaring that he will see Earth-63 burn. This sets the stage for what seems to be Darkseid preparing to raze Barbara’s kingdom to the ground. With only he and Batgirl standing atop the hill together, it will be fascinating to see how the two will collide, especially after Darkseid’s brutal execution of Aquaman.

The funniest thing ever is when a series gets one (1) F Bomb and the writers have to decide who gets it, especially when the cast is primarily 18 or younger. This can be in live action or cartoons. Cause it’s impossible not to acknowledge that the writers actually had to think and debate who deserves to say “Fuck”more.
It’s why one of my favourite scenes in Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is when (spoilers) Raven gets the Fbomb. Like yes girl, your life sucks. You do indeed deserve to say fuck.

Damian saying l wanted you to rule with me because l had feelings for you was so soft. Raven crying and saying l love you was painfully soft. Him forgetting about Superman in an instant when she fainted was so soft. Her almost killing Luthor for throwing Damian was so soft. The last scene was bittersweet but still soft. I just have a lot of feelings okay... Still crying and hoping that my babies stay together in the next universe also.

JLD:AW Spoilers/reactions. So ya know SPOILERS! SPOILER WARNINGS!!! ITS A LIST WITH A PARAGRAPH AT THE END!!!
Zatanna speaks the first line “Rebmemer”.
Violent. JEEZUS
Raven said Zatanna was brave and said Fuck.
Definitely endgame
Zatanna is probably dead? I guess I’m not as upset.
Drunk Etrigan is my new favorite even though it’s very sad
The teen titans are VIOLENTLY MURDERED. LOOK OUT. And Dick is insane now :/
Lois vs Harley Quinn and Constantine hating Boomerang is hilarious oh my god
CONSTANTINE FUCKED KING SHARK OH MY GOD
Demirae is actually kinda cute. Not my favorite but I’ll allow it.
BATGIRL AND BATWOMAN SURVIVED
Orchid flew the house of mystery into a giant machine
Okay well shiva, cheetah and batgirl died. Shazam too. Maybe orchid.
Tbh lois is stealing the show. Good for her
The lanterns are all wiped out :/ it sucks.
Most of the dead heroes are robot monsters yikes.
Etrigan has fallen T-T
Wonder woman breaking free was dope tbh
Poor flash oh my lord
Jesus the final act is crazy.
Zatanna was totally fridged. Fml.
White raven!
They end it with time travel :/ setting up rebirth? But yeah definitely erased this entire timeline.
So all in all it’s okay. I’m not as upset at Zatanna dying but she is literally fridged just so john can save the day. She sacrificed herself for him And batman asked her to do it. So kinda bullshit. It’s very violent and occasionally heart touching. Funny too. It’s a lot like endgame except waaaay more violent and they end with the time travel to undo it. Cheap but I guess there wasn’t anything else I expected. I’ve left some stuff out of my spoilers so don’t worry there’s still a few surprises. I like it but i would have preferred a different ending. So let me know what you guys think. I’d rate it about a 7/10. Not the best but not the worst.

So...Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, I have a couple of thoughts.
1) Well that movie had some fairly horrifying imagery that I won’t be able to unsee anytime soon. I get that it is suppose to be dark and serious and brutal and stuff, but there was honestly more gore in this film than there needed to be. Even in an R-rated movie, I really didn’t need to see some of my favorite heroes -INCLUDING THE TEENAGERS & CAPTAIN MARVEL- horrifically torn apart and/or mutilated. Not proselytizing or anything, some if just kinda made me feel icky.
2) We knew from clips & trailers that Nightwing would be killed but Damian bringing him back via Lazarus Pit was an interesting surprise that I wish they did more with. I was waiting for it to be brought up again when Raven was fighting Robo!Starfire or Damian was righting Mobius!Batman but it never did. Still, kind sweet that Damian tried to bring him back but also kinda creepy because of the results. Sometimes dead is better.
3) I called Constantine unleashing Trigon to fight Darkseid, but Trigon-possessed-Supes was a real treat...but I’m still a little salty we didn’t get to see Trigon-possessed-Johnny.
4) Speaking of John Constantine, his arc is by far the fullest and most interesting (to me, at least), once again proving that DC Writes REALLY WANT TO WRITE CONSTANTINE and are completely willing to stick him in stories he perhaps shouldn’t be in just so they can. I predict that The DC Rebirth Animated Universe (DCRAU(?)) will have plenty of Constantine Content. It is actually kinda funny how he went from being kind of a cult character to being in seemingly EVERYTHING.
5) King Shark/John Constantine... That is the weirdest The Shape of Water fanfiction I’ve ever seen. It’s not that I don’t believe John wouldn’t bang a giant, man-eating shark dude -It is John Constantine after all, the man who never met a bad idea he didn’t have masochistic hard on for-  but I am unsure of how. It almost got me to the point of googling shark reproduction but not yet.
6) I am still a little disappointed we didn’t see more of John scheming though. I assume the reason Batman wanted Constantine to be the back up plan is because he believe John is the only one who could outwit him...which is probably true but I still wish we saw more.
7) For some reason I always thought that Etrigan HAD to rhyme, but I guess he just chooses to do it! Still, he was funny and I liked his fight with Robo!Wonder Woman.
8) Not a fan of clean-shaven Constantine...Superman with a beard, however, is a daddy.
9) Where was Deadman? All the other characters for Justice League Dark were in the film and I assume he’d be kinda useful.
10) Raven & Robin’s relationship was kinda cute, I’ve never paid much attention to it before but it didn’t spoil anything for me. I did like seeing her in white again (I grew up with the Teen Titans cartoon, so it was a blast from the past for me) and her relationship with Trigon was interesting; the line about even bad parents caring about their kids (which I don’t necessarily agree with) said a lot while saying very little.
11) Lady Shiva was underused, I wish we saw more of her.

Personally, I like to think that all of the other DCAMU movies still happened, and the Flashpoint at the end of this one just prevented the events of Apokolips War specifically.
Because otherwise, what the fuck was the point of all of the other movies?
Besides, we’re never going to see what the rebooted timeline would look like, thanks to WB deciding to kill off this particular series, so hey, fanon to the rescue right?
