Every time I read a fanfic about a character giving birth, I have a habit of comparing it to delivering both of my daughters. Both deliveries were very different. With my first daughter, I pushed for at least 40 minutes, blacking out between contractions, until the doctor finally gave me an episiotomy and she slipped out. With my second daughter, I suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to push. The nurse had to literally run to get the doctor. Only took 3 pushes and she was out.

I'm seeing the 'happy anniversary' posts roll in, and fans lamenting the show's writing shortfalls in retrospect-

And if you weren't in the fandom when the show was airing and only watched it after it ended, I really can't understate how optimistic the fandom was at the time?

If you go back and look through the old bingo sheets, you can see a snapshot of what the prevailing theories/predictions were and what fans expected. (I have tags on both this blog and my art blog, #tts bingo, but I wasn't able to RB all of them- digging through '#tangled the series bingo' in the search will pull up more.)

People were eagerly looking forward to returning characters (the Brotherhood, ZT's disciples) in nearly every tentpole episode, rematches and fights, flashbacks, cameos, for Cass to redeem herself by the midpoint of season 3 so ZT could step up as the big bad- so many interactions and plot threads that never resolved to anything.

I think a lot of this is the product of a normal airing schedule with (mostly) weekly episodes and long hiatuses, but it also speaks to the show's potential and how frustrating the lack of follow through on the setup of seasons 1 and 2 was.

Special shoutouts to:

Fierce debate on if Cass or Adira would be the traitor in 'Destinies Collide'.

Adira and Hector working together to get the moonstone back after dedicating their lives to protecting the world from it. (nope)

Fans thinking that Quirin would appear and have a role in the episode where Varian gets kidnapped. (no)

Surely Cap will show up after 'Islands Apart', or share a heart to heart with Cass in the finale. (F)

I've tested so. many. colors. 12 milkpaint colors, 3 chipped/worn, 21 brights. Still not sure I am done with it though.

I also dusted off a clock from 2011 and give it a major clean up. While even when I started I was guided towards smaller poly item, that thing was terribly bloated. In fairness though, it had a motor in S3 so that little extra weight was worth it. Today in S4, at least twice a day, it is correct.

I was scrolling through the comments and reblogs for the first LOTR exposure poll and how so many are the movies. Which is fine! It’s just a lot of comments about them always being around for those people.

Meanwhile in college I can remember running into a friend from high school and talking about how we heard some guy was going to make live action versions of LOTR. And people would be speaking elvish in it! OMG that was never going to work! How could live action end up being anything other than cheesy with bad monster suits?

I remember sitting at my big bulky computer and going to onering.net and looking at the cast. I didn’t know who most of these people were. No big name actors (to a college kid at least). Surely this would be terrible.

Reader, I was wrong. I had some Tolkien and Alan Lee drawings and paintings as computer backgrounds and when I saw Rivendell in the movie, I damn near cried in the theater because it was THE Rivendell from the art. I knew the movies would be alright.

Although I think I remember Ian McKellan saying how much he enjoyed the role and was proud of the movies but that it was also a little sad that for so many people, they would never form their own picture of what Galdalf looked like the way he had when he read the books. For generations to come, he would be the only Gandalf people pictured because the movies would be their introduction to The Lord of the Rings.

And here we are. No judgement. It isn’t good or bad, it just is.

From what I heard it was taken on from keita’s suggestion because after he was informed abt the story/manga he said that it seemed as though kurosawa had loved adachi for a really long time with everything that he knew and how he acted etc so I guess the production team really liked that idea and boom but I think even he was surprised they settled on seven years😭 I love it so much though it’s like the Most Kurosawa Yuichi thing ever like of course he’s even the most dramatic of them all when it comes to pining because why wouldn’t he be… and god that whole mashup of scenes where it showed him watching adachi from afar and the part about how when he smiles he gets all soft and fluffy like god I love the drama so badly what a crazy gay little man

of Course it was machidas idea why didnt i realize it sooner. man knows kurosawa better than any other person on the planet of course he suggested making the pining longer . he changed the trajectory of the drama forever w this and i will thank him for it my whole life

augh the little pining compilation its playing in my head again .... idk what they put in it but u can understand kurosawa so much in that scene hes so real ....... every day i wish we got more scenes from the 7 yrs in between like the vday ep flashback stuff i want to see how his yearning got to such a lethal level I Need To Know
