I made a few new wax seal stamps out of clay (like the ones I did for my worldbuilding stuff forever ago), this time just of random symbols that I thought might look good done in the style of painting over the raised part of the wax or etc. :0c Some of them aren't carved deep enough to really show up that well, but overall they worked okay for being clay lol

Its been a rough couple days out here so I'm writing a list of things I love about my son

His dumb little face

His pretty yellow eyes

Every day when I get home the FIRST thing that happens is I scoop him up into my arms like a big baby and he let's me rub his tumtum for a whole two minutes!! Before returning to Bite Mode

The SECOND thing that happens is he gets the zoomies! When his father returns from work he goes SNUGGLE! then zooooooom. Because he is excited for me to play with him!!

When I play computer games he likes to feel included so even though he isn't normally very touchy he lets me scoop him up in one arm so he can sit there like a toddler and watch the screen

He trusts me SO much like if he wants up on a shelf or down off something tall I can just walk over and kneel and he'll crawl up or down me like a ladder and I've never had a cat do that before

He'll ride around on my shoulders when I take him out for walks which van be tricky now that he's big but he's so brave even when we pass a dog

Sometimes when I go to run his chin he gets SO EXCITED he'll jam his nose into my palm and smush it hard like he's trying to burrow a hole in the ground and it's adorable

He loves water-appliances? Like sinks and toilets and baths and such. He gets SO excited every time I turn on a faucet, he'll rush over and get as close as he can to watch without getting wet.

His favourite part of the whole house is the bathtub and whenever I take a bath he'll drape himself over the side and lounge there until I get out. He's not allowed in when I'm using the toilet but once I'm done I open the door to leave and he rushes in to check if I've been taking a secret bath without him, goes straight to the tub

In trying to teach him not to bite me, he has learned that he IS allowed to bite blankets. So if he really, really wants to play and I'm ignoring him, he'll bite me blankets and whip them around like a puppy playing tug-of-war.

If I'm ignoring him because I am ALSEEP, this sometimes results in me waking up because he has successfully pulled my blankets off of me.

He likes watching trucks. He'll sit in the window and watch traffic but if he hears a loud engine he'll RUSH to check it out.

When he was a baby, my brother would visit in the afternoons to feed and play with him while I was working. As a result, he loves his uncle more than me, and will allow constant tummy rubs

Because my brothers and I do family movie night at my place, and because he loves his uncles so much, he lights up whenever the doorbell rings and MUST greet visitors at the door.

Sometimes he tries to climb up a door by hugging the edge and jumping as high as he can. It has never worked but he still keeps trying. I think he just likes sliding down like it's a firepole.

He is obsessed with the smell of McDonalds french fries. He doesn't try to eat them, he just wants the box. There us currently one under my bed that I'm not allowed to throw away. I can hear him jamming his face into it right now.

Sometimes when he's curious about something I'm doing- eating, drinking, washing up, whatever- I'll let him sniff, and I'll just hear two or three strongass HUFF. HUFF sounds before he goes back to chilling. It's the cutest shit.

Sometimes he stops grooming himself and forgets his tongue is sticking out

His laser toy has a keychain attachment that jingles so whenever he hears a metallic jingle like that he thinks it's playtime

when I wash my face in the bathroom in the morning he hops on top of the toilet tank and starts grooming himself like "Oh hey I guess it's EVERYBODY'S bath time okay"

He's chatty and will meep back and forth with me

He has a round little wicker nest bed on a pedestal in my room and he likes to climb inside at night and make biscuits on the cushion while he sucks on the corner and it makes me wanna cry he's such a big baby

He will not wake me up for breakfast but as soon as I move in thevmorning he'll hop up onto my chest and stare at me. If I take too long to get up he'll meep in my face and then bounce back and forth between me and the door until I'm up.

Once I AM up, he will circle me and continue chirping until I ask him if it is time for dinner. Dinner, as far as he knows, is the only word for food. As soon as I ask, "is it dinner time?" He will zoom to the kitchen like a bat out of he'll and wait beside his bowl.

He genuinely seems to enjoy walkies and will climb into his carrier if he thinks we're going somewhere

Soketimes he'll pick up one of his toys and trot around with it like he's showing it off and I swear to God every time it makes me wanna make the most embarrassing noises

ALL THAT IS TO SAY, her Daemon being an opposum just makes sense. Him being small makes it easier for him to hide when they're feeling scared or exposed. And his tiny knife teeth makes him the perfect guard opposum and due to Jessie being So Normal I just know he'd have no trouble breaking some societal rules and going straight for the eyes of anyone who fucks with Jessie. (John is in for Bad Time..) Also something something linking back to Jessie's childhood and that time she hid in a tree.......

NOW ONTO JENNA,,,, beloved Jenna I had to truly think so hard for this one.... I think I have to go with a Rat and that's because Rats are highly intelligent animals and are very resourceful and cunning which I think aligns with her pretty well! Plus imagine a lil rat on her shoulder with it's own safety goggles..... Baby.

It fits pretty well into her lifestyle too I think, her Daemon could definitely help her around her lab and with any tests she does. They'd be the cleanest, tidiest lil rat and they could ride around in the pocket of her lab coat! Never again would she lose a pen or stray note because her lil Daemon would always return them to their designated place.....

Also imagining a tiny rat talking just like Jenna and explaining that the social construct of Daemons not talking to humans is arbitrary and useless, but also don't talk to them unless it's about Jenna's Very Important Work. (Also........ littol rat Daemon riding around on Ophelia,,, what a duo.....) And I think it's small size also lends again to the being able to easily hide and protect herself, keeping distant by keeping the very personification of her soul out of sight and adding to the layer of mystique around her.....

arc v 31-40 thoughts. um. um well, yes………these kids need therapy, to preface this…holy shit ? wow. a lot happened in this stretch of episodes, answered some questions and raised 4000 more. anyway.

-SHINGO TRYING SOOOOO HARD TO BE COOL BUT BEING A MASSIVE DORK IS JUST ENDEARING ME TO HIM SO MUCH MORE. HES LIKE SHOOTING UP MY RANKING. which right as im typing this on 31, is yuzu, shingo, sora, masumi, reiji, and michio as my favs (probably in that order, too. im just as shocked sora got up so high, considering i was ANNOYED when he showed up first LMAO his friendship with yuzu is so endearing tho…)

-new opening! interesting imagery in it, but def liked OP 1 way more song-wise. -_-

-every word out of shingo's mouth im like . yeah ok im loving him hes SO funny JSDHFJK . his deck is furry samurai too, which is. well. its very good.

-reiji seems more concerned with his own goals to see yuya as a proper rival! I think he just sees him as the son of someone he admired, and someone of interest bc of pendulum! -what the hell, sora. -what the HELL. its not like I ever ENTIRELY trusted him, but my GOD. the execution was flawless

-'hunting you all is FUN and not hard at ALL and I LOVE IT' OK???? 13 YR OLD LOVES GENOCIDE. AND THE OTHER 14? 15? YEAR OLD CLEARLY TRAUMATIZED. BUT IN A RESISTANCE OF SOME KIND. COOL COOL COOL. ALL MY FAVS ARE PROB DEAD OR IN CARDS AUGH.

-both of them need therapy. this whole ordeal, soras scary creepy faces, making children cry, using the scariest creepycute monsters ive ever seen? endears him more to me somehow. hes a littol fucked up actually…more than expected…I can VIBE with that. I LIKE characters that are a Little Fucked and yugioh has NO shortage of them. might have to swap around that fav charas order list immediately.

-I felt bad for shun the entire duel, my god it was cruel of reiji to pull this field up! its! fucking heartland city! AAUGH IM SAD TOO, SHUN.

-fucking . horrifying how desperate sora is to win. shun is fighting for resistance and for survival, sora is trying to prove he can easily 'hunt' xyz users…which, he obv Cant Easily Do, he gets Squished, loses, passes out and has to go to the hospital. thru out this ordeal yuya and co are becoming progressively more horrified, but still care for their friend! awful awful painful to watch. but also, they might be the only ppl sora has in this dimension and I think. i think we can Fix Him. hes YOUNG we can FIX that mindset, right…or am I being too optimistic. idk the way it was framed and how much yuzu and yuya care abt him…I feel like he'll be helped (I hope??? child soldiers bad)

-the next ep opens with yuya, gongenzaka and yuzu actually TALKING ABOUT ALL THIS, swapping info, and thank GOD for that!!!! I felt like yuzu was the only one of them involved heavily in the main plot for a while there!!! yuya was actually pretty serious about it, which is Nice to see (again, hes starting to feel more like a 'protag' to me now…)

-sora and yuto confrontation leads to an escape from the hospital and a duel, of course…that shun doesnt WANT to continue bc sora is obviously! hurt! and yuto isnt HEARTLESS. sora is desperate to Prove Himself (making me wonder if academia punishes ppl who dont…do well or agree to help them…) and fucking yuya finally steps in to help. altho given the context clues. well buddy it doesnt sound like soras on the Correct Side! it sounds like! hes the bad guy here! (or, raised in that mindset at least, not the main bad guy but def needs to be treated carefully) n u shouldnt be dueling yuto at all bc u dont understand the situation!! AUGH. I GET it tho, the little blue freeloader has been eatin pancakes with u everyday for how long,, hes grown on ME TOO SO I CANT SAY ANYTHING. AUGH.

-sora got Sucked Back to fusion dimension bc his identity was compromised. THATS why he couldnt tell anyone! actually very understandable.

-yuto and yuya stopped their duel, realizing they have absolutely NO reason to fight, and yuto was very reasonable and explained everything! im shocked at the straightforward answers to a lot of my questions (I still have a lot more…interesting yuya's dimension is 'standard'…hm)

-they analyzed soras memories without consent while he was unconscious………………dude. dont DO THAT!!!

-banana hair is here! on a bike! I'm a lil confused at synchro's role in the war? they were recruited by fusion?? to help crush xyz?? or just yugo was?? or its a misunderstanding somehow bc they both seem to think the other stole something (someone, right?)... is my ASSUMPTION (at the start of 37 as I type this) which is…ok, reiji's dad is behind it for Some Reason. Why? why just target xyz?

-also where is dm in all of this? (…ok I have a THEORY with NO basis, that arc v/standard dimension is the direct branch of dm but years later. NO basis for this but it would explain where dm fits in, maybe? like arc v being an alternate branch instead of gx, and gx being the actual odd one out on the timeline?? I dont KNOW yet. I think zexal implied 5ds never happened at one point, right?? VERY confused LMAO)

-yugo? (sub says HYUGO which is very funny to me, I know theyre all yu-boys tho. cant fool me) is SILLY.

-ok, theres def four yuya-lookalikes (and yuzu, based on the ruri stuff). I've seen their designs before so I knew that obv, and one for every dimension. why…? whenever they summon their lil dragons and those start resonating they start to go. um. murder-y! yuya snapped yuto out of it, but STILL. I'm assuming this has something to do with…why theres four lookalikes, and yuzu and yuya's Magic Accessories. somehow. I assume maybe…not everyone has alternate dimension counterparts, maybe the accessories have a lot to do with it (~dimension magic~ ??) and them being too close starts to make them go a lil. crazy. (like. saying destroy everything jkdafjk) bc theyre all diff versions of the same person? like just born into diff dimensions. (insert trust no one not even urself memes here lol) and they have diff personalities based on their diff lives/families ofc…this is my theory For Now. lets see yuzu and ruri get close together to see if they also go crazy or What. I Am Waiting

I hate this. So. Fucking. Much.

There’s only so many times a person can mentally deal with being physically unable to sleep, and that’s been the most common and pervasive problem in my life for as long as I can remember.

There is something just so taxing about not being able to sleep no matter what you do when it’s the only thing you want to do. I’m so fucking tired. In every sense of the word. I’m just so tired of this.

Every time I try and go to doctors about this they tell me the same things and the same solutions that don’t fix the problem. Having a sleeping schedule that I strictly adhere to doesn’t make my random bouts of no sleep go away, it just makes me a worse and more miserable person because I end up fucking sleep deprived.



They act like I do this to myself on purpose. Like it’s so easy to fix. Like I could fix it if I just listened to them and tried hard enough. I have tried everything I can. I’ve tried everything they tell me to do. And yet here I sit, at 1:25 in the morning knowing that no matter how much medicine I take, no matter how relaxed I make myself, no matter how many hot baths or how little screen time or caffeine I indulge in, it doesn’t fucking matter. None of it matters. Because I would have ended up right here anyway. And there’s nothing I or anyone else can do about it.

And so I sit and I wait and wait and wait and wait until maybe finally I’ll be allowed to fall asleep. Maybe. Probably not. And it’s not like I can do anything truly productive right now either. My brain is in sleep mode, so I can’t focus. And if I take it out of sleep mode then I lose my chance at any sleep at all tonight.

I hate this. I’m so tired. I just want to sleep. But I can’t. I just can’t. And I never can. At least when I was little this happening meant I could read more books. I wasn’t as tired then. I’m so tired now.

When I was in high school, I was forced to make a last minute poetry for a high level state competition. I put one together about insomnia. I still think about it sometimes, about how reading those poems made me feel. I didn’t know for certain that this was insomnia back then, I just had a pretty strong gut feeling that it was. And those poems, those shared experiences, they all but confirmed it for me. Confirmed that this really is that. But it also showed me that other people suffer like this to. And maybe it’s shitty of me, but that made me glad. I was glad that I’m not alone in this. Cuz that would be so much worse.

There was one poem that I especially liked. It followed the time passing on a clock, and used intervals to show how time seems to slow down when your like this. Show how your mind races with everything and nothing. How your thoughts jump so incredibly fast from topic to topic that the clock can’t keep up. I think I liked that one the best because it so perfectly encapsulated how I feel. What I go through. I want to stop, I want to slow down, and I am I really am but I just can’t at the same time. I am everything and nothing all at once. And there’s nothing I can do about it. I wish there was something I could do about it.

When I figured out what tonight was gonna be like, I set a timer for myself, so that if I’m not sleeping by then I’ll just have to suck it up and accept the situation and get some work done. I have 47 minutes left. I pray I am asleep by then but I know I won’t be.

I don't really know what houses all the kittens went to, but a black one definitely went to the Haddocks. Siri gave it to them as a little present for Zephyr and Nuffink to learn smt abt taking care of a small littol creature but Hiccup and the cat quickly bonded and now dad and the cat are friends (even tho. Toothless is the true bestie. He will forever be the true bestie). I'd personally say they'd name him Fiddlesticks (after Hiccup's cat in the books)

They'd also give a kitten to Snotlout (cuz they thought he was lonely) and ofc it was a little ginger one. He'd name it smt like Fireworm (also after Snotlout's dragon in the books lmao) and now it lives in front of his hearth <3

For the rest of the kittens, I'm leaving it open to interpretation! I think that would be fun haha so if you've got any ideas abt it I'd love to hear

I do talk abt Nivvie a lot!! He's such a skrunkly lil character, glad you like him and Klaus! I'm slowly (kinda, a little) working on reworking Niv's plotlines and I really like the route things are taking for his story. Can't really work on it too often tho bc of both a college art degree that takes up most of my time, a part time library job and market prepping :') but i'd be up to talk about the basics of it if anyone wants to hear it!

Abt Zephyr and Nuffink!! During Niv's story they're about 15-16 (Nuff) and 18-19 (Zeph) respectively. Basically, they're growing up! Zephyr is taking up the whole heiress thing very seriously and is a bit of a maces and talons master. She practised a lot (both with her dad, mom, and sometimes auntie Siri) as a kid and really prides herself on being really good at it. She's very opinionated (very much so) and very much her own person (which her parents obviously love abt her).

Nuffink has outgrown bonking his head on furniture and is now bonking his head on everything else. A lil rascal fr fr!! Really stubborn, a bit harsh, a pretty good fighter (with his bare hands) and has a lot of respect for his mom and dad's friends. Not so much for his sister, tho, but yknow, that's normal in sibling relationships. Loves his grandfather's old carved toys a lot too, really treasures them and tries to replicate him whenever possible. He's got a lot of growing up to do! But don't they all at that age.

I'm still cracking my brain a bit on what other kids are around in the next gen (mainly bc I can't really decide on who has kids and who doesn't). It's a topic fr fr!! I do love a lot of the next gen characters other creators on here have made and sometimes I like featuring my friends' oc characters in stories/plotpoints. For example, @nosuda-cringe 's whole cast!! It's always fun to do and bc my mind is often so busy with other art projects (mainly for school), it's a bit easier for me to just focus on Nivvie and his story for now.

But, I would like to at some point create some more next gen characters! I've already done so in the past but it's really hard to stick to characters for me sometimes, which is why they often get reworked/renamed/removed/are never mentioned again if you go through my blog. So for clarification, Zephyr and Nuffink exist in Niv's next gen! Who else? Give me some more time to think abt it haha

Daily Log 5

Trying out (probably just temporarily) making short daily-ish notes about things, in an attempt to see if it helps me be more reflective or productive lol.

Activities: Not much, I had to run errands most of the day and also felt incredibly tired, probably because the cats woke me up like 4 times last night begging for food and things. Overly warm and headachey a lot.

I planted a few new flowers, and pressed more flowers and clovers in my Large Sturdy Flower Pressing Book as well.

Actually worked on translating the text for the previously mentioned tapestry/painting thing. I think I've decided that it doesn't really matter very much, because nobody else even knows anything about this conlang except for me, so they won't know if it's wrong lol.. It is not entirely completed after all (complete enough to translate most simple sentences into consistently, but also there are a few spots here and there where I haven't fully worked out the way some part of speech actually functions or etc., or I wrote down one thing that later contradicts something else, so occasionally I reach a sentence that I'm not sure exactly which rule to follow to translate, and I need to do a larger comprehensive organization of the document to work out all the kinks and declare officially like 'THIS is the ONE way this is done' etc. etc.) - so because of that, I think I'll just kind of 'do my best' and if the rules now end up changing in the future as I further work on the language, then, that's fine, because nobody can read it anyway lol. Kind of like that song on my side music youtube that's sung in genuine Avirrekava lyrics but also I wrote them years ago and some of the sentences have now become outdated/invalid.

Washed and cleaned some kale so it will be dry for me to maybe make silly kale chips tomorrow.

Final proofreading + posting of the poll adventure thing.

eughh,, literally nothing else.. I hate running errands because it always makes me feel drained and sick after, plus I get nothing else done all day except for just going places. I know checking my p.o. box and picking up cat food and stuff is technically still a productive action, but it just feels like.. i should be getting all of my long term projects done instead lol.. what about the videos?? or worldbuilding?? what does grocery shopping have to do with elves??!?! >:V (aside from pretending to be a group of fantasy creatures evaluating produce having an imaginary conversation with yourself at the store ghghj,, but that is not productive either lol)

Notable sights: Found 13 four leaf clovers, and 2 five leaf clovers, though one of them is almost a 6 leaf (like one of the leaves is nearly split all the way into a sort of heart shape, just not entirely). Also two of the clovers are HUGE, probably the biggest 4 leaf clovers I've ever collected, like 2 inches across maybe. The sky was very pretty a lot with big fluffy white clouds. Not a 'sight' really, but I got to sit in air conditioning for a little while today and it was very nice. I love the cold crisp kind of stale air smell, like walking into a freezer or something (which I used to do when I was a kid, I would sneak into a walk-in freezer at a school cafeteria and just sit there for a while lol), it's comforting to me.

Goals moving forward: Consistent sleep schedule. Focus on social activities, finding new friends in the places I want to move, communicating with ones I have. Physical therapy exercises. Plant nasturtiums. Finish and upload videos, edit costume pictures & etc. Do the new costumes I've planned. MAKE SCULPTURES at some point, I miss them.

Notable foods: Had a bit of smoked gouda and green onions in my Mandated Completely Plain Flavorless Grits For Breakfast this morning, as a littol treat lol.. Tried a 'biscoff' ice cream bar, which is generally a flavor profile I like, but I think I would usually rather be eating a cookie than having ice cream. Also an Ensure nutritional drink, which I know most people consider gross but I genuinely like them.. maybe it's like a source of comfort when my stomach is too sick to eat, like 'oh well at least I can have this cold smooth textured chalky chocolate thing' lol.

Sort of like how I have positive conditioning to feel safe/comfortable in bathrooms (due to it usually being one of the only places you can safely retreat from a social situation or get out of crowds in public areas, etc.), even though rationally I have no particular reason to like bathrooms much, and most people dislike public bathrooms especially. Fellow public bathroom and ensure nutritional shake lovers unite! (3 of us in the entire world)

So I finally watched Dorian Gray (2009) and I have never watched a movie that made me feel so many feelings at once.

I feel I should mention from the get go that I had heard many things about it before I started watching, mostly about how it was not a very good adaptation of the book. And I agree, as an adaptation of the book I felt so many things none of which were particularly good. As just a general movie, I’d say it was ~7/10 for me personally. Love me some guys in suits so there was that LMAO, but otherwise parts of the plot felt… underutilized? Basil’s idolatry, Sibyl’s whole deal, and the whole I want to repent plot line they made felt like it was there for a second then just gone. Which is saying something considering Basil’s idolatry is like a Main Part of the Book.

Onto characterizations because I have a bit to say about this. Overall, I think the Dorian isn’t as bad as people made him out to be, personally. Like I know a big point of contention is the way he looks, but I think he works fine as a Dorian? I think he acted the part fine, in the beginning being an innocent little guy who doesn’t know better to hedonistic littol shit with a violent streak. I’ll come back to the stuff with Emily laterr. One thing I can’t forgive though, is that they let Dorian drive. You cannot convince me that boy knows how to make a decent left turn without hitting a pole.

For Basil, loved the actor but didn’t love the characterization. Basil being so open about his art, especially of Dorian, felt wrong? Especially the scene with everyone looking at the portrait and him being proud of it and all that felt so weird to me it completely took me out of the movie for a hot minute. Overall, Basil kinda felt really ancillary to the plot, just there to paint portrait and be killed. My favorite thing about this Basil, though, was his relationship with Henry. Somehow I really got the vibes of two friends so sick of each other it’s a wonder how they’re still friends but they are because they also find each other sickeningly fun to be around. Ben Chaplin as Basil felt pretty good though. He got the nervous painter energy down pat.

Now Henry. Henry. Henry fucking pissed me off. Not in a bad way though? I absolutely hated him but I kept wanting to see what other fucked up shit he’s going to try to do? In the beginning I hated and loved him with equal passion, but by the end both petered out into just kind of, ambivalence. He got old. I got kinda old of him not really changing as a character. Until the end though. At the end I really enjoyed the whole confrontation and the path leading up to it where Henry used his wits to outdo Dorian. Just overall really wildly mixed feelings about that guy.

Sibyl I felt meh about. She was done well I think, but changing the whole motive for her death felt not great for Sibyl, but I could see what they were trying to go for in Dorian’s story so eh. I also hc her as really bubbly and open so to see her more demure and shy threw me for a loop.

Now. Emily. I personally don’t particularly like the introduction of Emily. Or no, I was fine with the introduction of Emily as a person to potentially put Dorian on the “right path”, it was her falling in love with him I didn’t like. I think them staying friends would have been perfectly fine, or even Dorian feeling unrequited feelings for her would have been interesting, but them falling in love and Dorian “trying to be better” and still absolutely failing is what irked me ig. I think I just really wanted him to find someone to like without having to bed them to show him genuinely trying to “be good” or “have a conscience” or whatever. (And I don’t think the idea is “having sex is bad” but “having sex without thinking of how it could affect the people around you in a negative way is bad” and that’s what Dorian does with Emily. He takes her as his wife regardless of how Henry feels because he’s exactly the same fun guy.) Henry could still feel plenty threatened by Dorian’s existence around his daughter that leads to the final scenes without the shtick being marriage. Idk it just feeeeels not great

Just wanted to talk about how I felt about the movie overall again, cause it was wild. For the first 30 minutes of the movie, for some reason I had this unyielding sense of “something’s wrong” that I could not pinpoint (and don’t think I can until I do like a second watch or something) but I THINK it had to do with how off I felt about Basil’s and Henry’s characters. It really felt like the writer had taken the plot of tPoDG and shifted it two steps to the right. The big moments were happening, but something about them are unexplainably w r o n g. Basil getting a funeral was not expected and deserved for Basil, but him never getting one and continuing to be missing was something I really felt was integral to his character? But I am a fan of “Dorian disposes of the body himself” and “Henry gets to see the corrupted Dorian and it Fucks Him Up” plot points so that was fun.

Do I think this will in any way affect the way I characterize the Dorian Gray cast? Not likely. Do I think it’s a decent movie? Yea. Production was good, costuming was good, acting was good. As a movie it was okay. Do I think people should watch it? Yes, if only to understand half of what people are referencing when they talk of tPoDG. Do I want to see more Dorians with dark hair and dark eyes? I don’t see why not! I personally think the dark hair and dark eyes means you can’t look innocent shit some people say is a scam. However, if it’s not someone’s cup of tea that’s their choice. And wishing for a more canon-compliant Dorian is also fine. Just… that phrase specifically makes me smad. But now I’m rambling

Tldr; Dorian Gray (2009) is not a good adaptation of the book at all (imo) due to missing some key plot points, but a decent movie. Will probably watch it again to see if my opinions about it change.

because she was the only other winged hybrid, quackity trusted her to preen his own wings

in return he preened hers while she was in jail

she used to fly with puffy because love <3

during her isolation arc, she takes out feathers as an unhealthy coping mechanism, reasoning to herself that there's no need to preen if she doesn't have any feathers left (yes it's morbid)

eventually tho she just. doesnt even wear clothes for her wings

she just hides them underneath, which is of course VERY uncomfortable

they get worse and worse and ache more and more and she wants to fly so badly but she can't unless she preens them and she can't because she just can't!

when she joins the syndicate, the first thing phil says during their second meeting is: "hey niki didn't you have wings? what happened to them?"

techno: "HEHH??? she seemed fine when i visited her!!" ranboo: "yeah she's been hiding it this whole time because society expects her to do it." techno, an adhd fella: "..phil where are the adoption papers-"

niki's confused by the end. why did nobody look at her? why did nobody maintain eye contact with her??? did they not like her?

but at the end phil explains that they thought that because she was an enderman hybrid she wouldn't like it (they're lying to not throw ranboo under the bus)

niki just stares, then starts to cry because holy Shit they are so nice

used to bite her tail as a way of self-harm. techno was VERY concerned when he saw the bite marks, but niki just lied and said that it was a dog attack

he knows for a fact it wasn't a dog because he's been bitten and his furniture has bites and it didnt look like that

cue him connecting the dots and being like "...WAIT"

niki also really likes blocks. like we all know her city is weird in some parts because it's built with different blocks, signifying niki's jumbled up mind while planning to kill tommy. but in the enderman hybrid niki hc, its also partly because blocks feel nice and she wanted to feel different ones

her tail curls around the legs of people she likes. so far, it's gone around: wilbur, tommy n tubbo (those two specifically during pogtopia), fundy, eret, puffy and the rest of the syndicate

whenever puffy made her flustered she'd blush either green or pink. no inbetween. puffy was very confused and thought niki was disgusted by her at first and was all :(( before niki explained her wack biology

here's my Long Post about Billy:

Billy Hargrove is a very interesting character because he is a victim-turned-perpetrator. It's clear that he suffered in his childhood but that he also hurt a lot of other people. From a psychological standpoint, his actions make a lot of sense. (I should say that my credentials are that i'm majoring in psychology and it's a pet interest of mine, especially personality disorders. But don't take my word as gospel, I only kind of know what I'm talking about).

Basically, I think Billy is showing early signs of Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD). I say early signs, because aspd is generally only diagnosed in people over the age of 18 and Billy is 17/18 throughout seasons 2 and 3. Furthermore he doesn't actually meet all of the criteria (as far as we know).

Diagnosing fictional characters with any psychiatric illness should be done with caution, mainly because fictional characters are, well, fictional. They were written by someone and their actions have been planned out for them, a real person obviously does not function the same way. Diagnosing someone irl requires a much deeper understanding of that individual and a much broader picture of who they are, you can't get all the facts from a tv show, basically.

ASPD criteria: Billy Hargrove

The DSM-V lists these criteria for aspd, of which at least 3 have to be met in order to warrant a diagnosis.

- Failure to conform to social norms and laws, indicated by repeatedly doing illegal activities.

- Deceitfulness, indicated by continuously lying, using aliases, or conning others for personal gain and pleasure.

- Exhibiting impulsivity or failing to plan ahead.

- Irritability and aggressiveness, indicated by repeatedly getting into fights or physically assaulting others.

- Reckless behaviors that disregard the safety of others.

- Irresponsibility, indicated by repeatedly failing to consistently work or honor financial obligations.

- Lack of remorse after hurting or mistreating another person.

Other than these, an individual has to be at least 18 years old, they have to show signs of conduct disorder before the age of 15, and their behavior is not better explained by schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

In Billy's case, it is unclear whether he could have had conduct disorder as a child, as we see very little of how he behaved before the start of season 2, so I'm going to ignore this criterium. (In a real diagnostic interview you would of course ask questions about this and try to get a solid idea of someone's history but we can't do that here).

Billy also does not show signs of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Failure to conform to social norms and laws, indicated by repeatedly doing illegal activities.

Billy is not shown committing many crimes, he drives recklessly and gets into fights, but other than that, we see very little of this. Billy does not commit theft, nor do we see him abuse hard drugs or frankly do anything that could get him arrested (besides speeding and assault). He does show patterns of law-breaking behavior in this sense, but it is relatively limited.

Deceitfulness, indicated by continuously lying, using aliases, or conning others for personal gain and pleasure.

Billy is not a particularly deceitful person, but we do see him twist the truth on occasion to gain favor with others. Prime example is when he is out looking for Max and he ends up at the Wheeler's house (season 2). He tells Karen that he is 'worried sick' about his little sister and acts oddly charming towards her. We know that this can't be entirely true, as he later tells Steve that he thinks Max is a bitch. Billy is capable of putting on a charming persona if he needs someone to like him, as opposed to when he's interacting with people that he dislikes, where we see him behave in a more hostile manner, intimidating and insulting people.

Exhibiting impulsivity or failing to plan ahead.

Once again, it is hard to tell. I would say that the scene where he almost hits Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will with his car is a decent example of impulsive behavior. In the moment, he is trying to scare Max into compliance, but he is probably not intending to actually hurt the party. It is impulsive in the sense that it is dangerous and he doesn't seem to care much.

Irritability and aggressiveness, indicated by repeatedly getting into fights or physically assaulting others.

This is a hard yes and I don't think anyone will disagree, but I'm gonna explain anyway. Billy is happy enough to get into a fight with Steve, he is frequently seen snapping at people (specifically Max). Before he gets flayed in season 3, when he crashes his car, his first reaction is anger. If Max doesn't immediately do what he tells her to do, he gets angry. When the kids lure him into the sauna to test if he got flayed, before he knows what's going on, he's already threatening to kill whoever is messing with him and that's before the mind flayer even takes over. Billy instinctively responds to any potential threat or unsatisfactory situation with anger and hostility.

Reckless behaviors that disregard the safety of others.

Again, the scene where he almost hits the party with his car comes to mind, and his driving in general. We do see recklessness, but I think his limited screen time is mostly the reason why we don't see it more often.

Irresponsibility, indicated by repeatedly failing to consistently work or honor financial obligations.

This does not seem to be accurate for Billy. At his lifeguard job, we do not see any signs that he isn't taking it seriously. Because of his age, he doesn't seem to have many financial obligations that we could look at, but I think that Max is arguably one of the biggest responsibilities he has. Although Billy is mean to her, he does (begrudgingly) take responsibility. Even if it is not much more than driving her places and babysitting.

Lack of remorse after hurting or mistreating another person.

This one is complicated because we don't see either remorse or a lack thereof with most of his actions. He beats up Steve, passes out and then it's never really mentioned again. Max threatens him with the baseball bat, he seems to accept that he can't push her around anymore and that's the end of it. He doesn't apologize, but he also doesn't explicitly not feel sorry for what he did. When he's locked in the sauna, there is a moment where he breaks down in tears saying he didn't mean to kill anyone and that 'he' (the mind flayer) made him do it. I personally believe that this was genuine and not some trick from the mind flayer, but I think it is up to interpretation. It is also a dubious example of remorse for his actions, since they weren't really his actions.

Can Billy be diagnosed with aspd?

ehh,,,? maybe? I think he does show some very clear symptoms but we really don't have enough evidence to make a hard yes or no decision. Assuming that his behavior that we see on screen is representative of how he always behaves, I would say aspd is the most likely diagnosis.

What I find so important about this is that personality disorders are not incurable or necessarily chronic. A lot of Stranger Things fans see Billy as an irredeemable evil villain, but from this perspective, we see that he is a person with an illness, who needs help and most importantly, who can get better. Billy shows patterns of bad/antisocial behavior, but those patterns can be broken.

I think analyzing characters like this is important because there are plenty of people in the real world that are just like Billy Hargrove, and those people deserve compassion and help as well.

yet despite this she gets so defensive over ionius for some fucking reason. like don’t you want edel to be a victim? well there you go. conquest was all daddy’s idea and edel was groomed to follow what he said. and tbh i don’t think she has actually read the theory bc she seems to be under the impression that we think ionius was behind the insurrection??? which no… nobody thinks that bc it’s stupid. the insurrection and the experiments were two different events with the opposite end goals.

the insurrection was done bc daddy hresvelg wanted to hold all power in the empire and destroyed house hrym for trying to leave for the alliance and sent twsitd mages to house ordelia since he was the only one in charge at that time. the other nobles are rightfully scared and stage a coup for the end goal of disposing the emperor’s power.

the experiments were done for the explicate purpose in creating a peerless emperor that could gain all the power. why on fucking earth would the nobility take power away from the emperor and then immediately give power to the emperor? besides the nobility have no ties to twsitd only ionius does as stated earlier.

like… those goals are in complete separate directions… and if the writers came out today and said that ionius was not involved at all and it was all on the nobility, ionius is still a weird guy bc he goes to garreg mach as an adult man and picks up a student to be his sex doll bc that’s literally what a concubine is. like at the bare minimum in canon he’s a weird adult who fell in love with an underage girl, killed an entire bloodline, wanted to be a tyrant, and allowed children as young as two be tortured and killed at ordelia. why would you even want to defend him in the first place?

and none of this is touching on diva’s weird habit of using false equivalencies and apparently not knowing what imperialism is since she claimed dimitri did it was well by taking the alliance which isn’t that at all. there was no political or military post in the alliance from the kingdom there to take autonomy from the nation. they went there to help preserve that right to independent rule and was just given the alliance by unanimous vote.

and like you said she has this persona of being a fan girl who just likes meta but gets defensive when you tell her that something she said goes directly against canon. if it goes against canon then it’s fanfic not meta. if you don’t abide by the laws of the game’s universe then you can’t make serious takes on it since it has to be founded in the games text. i just don’t understand how her mind works.
