My Thoughts/Kind of a Summary on "Katie's Yokai Butler"

This will all be from memory, so I apologize if some things are off, out of order, or otherwise incorrect `~` Edit Yomo here! I watched it about halfway through this but i have an awful memory ahhh! Anyways, screenshots n stuff might be included now! This'll basically be somewhat of a summary as well as a few observations I've made. Also, I'll be using the English names for characters! Keita is Nate, Fumi-chan is Katie, Warunyan is Baddinyan, so on so forth—☆

[SPOILERS AHEAD OBVIIIII]

The alternative timeline in summary is basically if Katie had gotten the yokai watch instead of Nate. It's first (and last) anime mention to my knowledge is in the Season One episode "Katie's Yokai Butler" if my memory served correctly! The episode follows Whisper through his 'dream' in what is presumed to be a look into the alternate Whisper's life. After a little argument with Nate about his messy room, Whisp cream goes to bed upset. He first wakes up to the smell of roses, and quickly realizes he isn't where he should be. (Probably bc Nate's room smells like cheeto puffs/j) He looks around to find himself in Katie's room. ( ＞Д＜；)

This brings us to the first major difference in this timeline; it takes place in Katie's house obviously! Makes sense since she got the watch instead of Nate >u○ Her room is a lot cleaner, and even appears to be more spacious than her male counterpart. That aside, Katie comes upstairs at some point to wake Whisper, to which he responds with confusion as to where he is and how she can see her. To this universe's Katie, she thinks he's acting strange. She pinches him upon request to make sure he's not dreaming, to which he didn't wake up. That confirms that!

After a bit, Katie returns back downstairs when she hears her father calling her. This leads Whisper to wonder about another difference; the inclusion of Baddinyan. Besides the obvious fact of it not being Jibanyan, this also means Katie is probably going to interact with other yokai in a rather different manner than Nate! I say that because Nate met Roughraff in Season 1, Episode 3. He didn't even get Baddinyan's medal! (which sucks because that's one of my favorite yokai! Goofy little cat,,, °□°)

If we're talking on all timeline differences—not just the ones in Katie's house—then the meeting with Roughraff might be a good point to bring up. Considering the fusion was involuntary in Nate's timeline, what happened in Katie's? Did they decide to stay fused after that for whatever reason, did Katie fuse them at a place like shonen temple (which doesn't exist in the anime I think >~>), or did something happen pre-canon for them to have became friends and fuse? Sometimes, a fusion can be in the same place as the yokai that fused them in the anime due to certain yokai like Baddinyan forming a separate consciousness from either original host ( 〃=▽=〃) (I probably sound like a huge dweeb rn </33) Maybe Katie said something to the newly existent Baddinyan to make him give her the medal, and thus hanging around her from now on!

After some vague threats at fighting Whisper from Baddinyan, the yokai butler in question wonders about who replaced Hidabat in the closet. He goes to open it leading us into our next difference; Shadow Venoct. There isn't much from me to say about this one to be honest, he doesn't have any lines except for maybe the hissing of his snake-scarf thingies hissing at Whisper (¤o¤|||. I've noticed that a lot of Katie's friends seem to be more powerful, or at least a higher rank than Nate's. [Ex: Shadow Venoct being S Rank, Baddinyan being B Rank, and another S Rank we'll get into later—!♡]

Sometime after that, Katie calls Whisper down to help her investigate the strange way her mother was acting. Whisper attempts to use the Yokai Pad to identify the yokai...although Katie swipes it away just as quickly. <°[O□o;]°> She says that Whisper (or this timeline's original version of...) promised to try and memorize the information instead. It seems un-Whisper like, but to be fair, alternate Whisper probably formed a different dynamic than the usual! She identifies the yokai with the watch, to which Whisper (discreetly uses the pad and) figures out it's Noway!

To deal with him, Katie said that she'd summon a special rare friend. This turns out to be Robonyan's timeline counterpart; Goldenyan! Upon asking the golden robot cat for help, he says that this was 'beneath' his capabilities and basically that his power shouldn't be wasted on it...; ￣Д￣ Anyways, he leaves to the future and the episode ends with Katie using Whisper as a special attack against Noway, much to his dismay >u<. Oh, and it's revealed here that Whisper was dreaming.

Although it may have been a "dream", I'm 99% sure that was a plot device to not have to script in 'Whisper going to another universe!!' to the episode and how he eventually gets back. I personally believe it would be cool to see a spin-off dedicated to something like this! There's Nyanderful Days I guesssss but that doesn't really count cuz it just has Whisper and Jibanyan and it's just inserting Katie into the og series plot (￢_￢) There's a lot of potential, and I'm sure viewers over here in the west and Japan would be happy to see our girl the the spotlight for once wwwwww. Maybe it'd also be an opportunity to have McKraken put into the anime? Hint hint? That, as well as several yokai who might not have been seen by Nate due to him going different places as Katie, hanging out with different people, etc! Anyways, that's all for now!

It isn't an alternative universe where my insert gets whisper and Jibanyan it's more they just co-exist with Nate,Hailey etc. They're in highschool though so they can't interact with Nate. More like the whisper is Mifu(Mee2) i know it wouldn't make sense due to the game plot.. but I really love Mifu she's so cute !! I also inserted my Yokai Watch OC Tsubi to be apart of their team!! I'll have to draw my self inserts whole team one day,, (based off my ykw3 team maybe)

I also am into splatoon!! I've been playing 3 since it released hahaha and so I've made a couple of ocs. The inkling his name is sandals!! It's not his real name but it's a name used by his teammates and himself. The red octopus on the side of the drawings are a friend of mines! They're canonically boyfriends :3

I’ve been on a yokai watch fanart kick recently so here’s my 3 most recent designs (these are all just sketchbook pics cause I don’t wanna redraw them lol). I have some older ones that I’m more proud of but I wanna draw them digitally so here.

Racerat: Based on the term ‘Rat Race’, the whole design comes from that pun lol. It makes people only care about money.

Manipuvision: Makes ppl consumerist? Idk I was listening to a lemon demon playlist that had the song ‘Consumer Whore’ in it and I got the idea for the design, I still need to work on what it’d actually do. It’s also a huge reference to The Ring, but yokai watch literally has a terminator jibanyan so I think it’s fine.

Exasperamp: Originally was gonna be the cause for amp feedback but then I had the idea of ‘Yokai that makes kids just scream for no reason’ (cause yk how kids just do that sometimes) and I thought it was more interesting. I really like this guy, might give him an evo or draw him digitally sometime.

THIS was the scene that made "jinpei has comphet" from a joke to an actual theory, LIKE. he's looking at it because it's a book to solve love problems (even though it has a enra photos too?), and he feels guilty because it was his fault emma turned into a snake. he doesn't even care that she likes him, as shown here:

and he has ZERO INTEREST in girls his age. not even kuka (we'll. we'll get to that) who is apparently so beautiful it's distracting boys and they cannot perform well academincally, gets a reaction out of him.

the girls he likes tend to be motherly. enra is a nurse, lana is. basically raimu's mom lol

the only exception are the cashier lady and the girl from the first episode, but it's likely that he just thought the girl was cool and with the cashier lady, he was just imitating the cashier dude.

also, he rarely gets flustered when enra is actually interacting with the club. i remember this one time enra complimented him and jinpei just laughed playfully. that was it. he blushes sometimes when matarou compliments him, though!

his deal with matarou is also clearly a crush, the moment he leaves the school he misses him and wants to summon him back, and when he was about to sacrifice himself, jinpei clung to him because he didn't want him to go, and it's the first time jinpei cried in a serious manner. because he didn't want him to go.

THEN THERE'S RAIMU. he became so obsessed with being his friend even though he only met him for like 10 minutes, since they got along almost instantly. raimu kept being all "i don't want friends. i don't NEED friends i am a being of darkness and destruction and also both jesus and the antichrist" and jinpei kept being so stubborn for no actual reason, he just. really likes raimu

anyways i think jinpei is jingay and his comphet stems from lacking a mother figure.

reading him like this makes this series both more frustrating and more enjoyable to watch, actually.

If given the chance to make a game based on yo-kai watch, what would you do for plot stuff, gameplay, characters ect?

If I were to make a YKW game, it would pick up where 3 left off bc I know nothing about 4 lol. So uhhhh this one's kinda Yo-kai Watch 3.5

-First of all, I'd want to combine all the areas available in 2 and 3. Old Springdale, Gera Gera Land, the Infinite Inferno/Divine Paradise, and the Infinite Tunnel all come back, as well as New Yo-kai City and BBQ bc I'd want my boy Buck to make an appearance <3

-ALSO KATIE IS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER

-I can't decide whether I want 3's battle system or the original wheel, I like both but the wheel has a bit more points for nostalgia

-For characters, Hailey and Buck both come back because them and the MC form the best trio ever. Also Buck can have his own yo-kai friend. As a treat. Idk who though. It'd probably be a 'Merican yo-kai.

-Idk how I'd make the "switching back and forth between BBQ and Springdale" thing work story-wise, but who needs coherence when you have the funny southern american boy haha am I right !!

-Also I'd want to add more classic yo-kai based on other japanese folkloric creatures!! I want a yo-kai based on the Nobiagari SOOOO badly. or the Amabie. or the Ao Andon. Or the Karyobinga!! I could literally go on and on forever. maybe I'll make some fake yo-kai art idk

-Plus some 'Merican yo-kai based on some American mythology too. Bigfoot, mothman, etc. maybe Noko can have a 'Merican counterpart based on the hoop snake and that'll be ykw3.5's token unobtainable streetpass Noko

-As for plot, if I've made anything clear, I want Lucas to be involved. I want him to be involved soooooo badly. And he has to be at the FOREFRONT of this damn plot, none of that showing up at the last second shit. Maybe the MC trio have to protect him from a Big Bad trying to kill him, ORRRRR maybe HE'S the one that turns evil and its up to the MCs to stop him for committing evil little boy crimes. Is it too obvious that I want evil lucas? I want evil lucas btw.

-Also I think it was mentioned in ykw1 that Venoct was kinda put in charge of "protecting" Lucas/acting as some sort of guardian for him, and then in 3, during part 1 of that enma note quest where Lucas got thanos snapped, Venoct says he feels like he's "missing something important." expand on this. I am begging. expand more on venoct's whole bodyguard arc

-theyre probably not gonna do anything plot-wise but I just want the wicked yokai to be there. for funsies lol. I just like them theyre so scrurngkly

-BRING BACK FORGOTTEN YKW 1 BOSSES. WHERE IS TARANTUTOR. WHERE IS PHANTASMURAI

-I'd make Lina and Zoe's Ghost Club plot relevant bc out of all of Nate/Katie's classmates, those two and their weird little freak club is the most interesting, also the fact that Lina BEFRIENDED A BOSS YO-KAI?? Insane. love that for her. theyre interesting I like them a lot

-also maddiman is befriendable now

-I'd make another yo-kai watch CEO guy and his name would be Sealon Musk (seal) and he'd invent the new watch for ykw 3.5. It's called the SpaceWatch and it sounds cool and interesting but all it does is explode. Also it costs 8.2 million dollars and whisper had to sell all of your medals and also jibanyan's soul on the black market in order to get one, and that's how the medallium gets reset this game

if I get anymore ideas or like an actual coherent plot ill probably add on later, but I think thats it for now lol

I KNOW THIS IS ABOUT MAINLINE BUT I AM STILL SHOCKED ABOUT JINPEI FUCKING JIBA'S BACKSTORY

ok so picture this: ash's pikachu dies. straight up dies (trying to save ash), but the last word he heard from ash was "pathetic", and pikachu turned into a ghost thinking ash always felt that way about him, so he promised himself to train until he became strong enough to defeat a truck with only his paws (he was ran over by a truck)

then, in his ghost form, he meets this other kid, and he helps him reunite with ash, even though ash can't see him

ok, now that we got the basics, their actual names. ash is amy (or emi if you're going for the og japanese) and pikachu is jibanyan.

anywyas, turns out amy was calling herself pathetic for not being able to protect jibanyan (amy's death was also scheduled for that day but that's a whole another thing. also her home life sucked and jibanyan was the only good thing she had)

ANYWAYS AMY GROWS UP, GETS MARRIED AND HAS A CHILD and i haven't watched shadowside but i'm gonna assume edgy buff jibanyan looks over amy's daughter. how cute.

WELL, SOMEHOW, DESPITE ALREADY BEING A GHOST, JIBANYAN FUCKING DIES. AGAIN and he gets reincarnated into a catboy named jinpei jiba

the whole show, the catboy is off the shits. he constantly looks like there's no thought behind those eyes. and he raps because he feels like it. he gained a guy's respect by punching him in the balls and when he told jinpei his backstory (he was the leader of a gang to get money for his sick mom or something i watched the movie like 3 years ago), jinpei was tearing up and being like "awwwww we are besties now even though you tried to kill me. i'm gonna help you get more money!!!" and when questioned if he could even help monetarily he was like "i honestly don't know but i'll Just Handle It!!!!"

overall a pretty chill, outgoing dude

he also manages to charm The Actual Reincarnation Of God, Actually by lacking braincells.

not to talk about yo-kai watch on main but this series is so fucking unhinged. like. here's a compilation of weird shit in yo-kai watch:

• there's one yo-kai who was literally just a dude when he was alive but he got crushed by some wood planks at the same time a dog did so now he's a man-faced dog yo-kai. he gets arrested like five times basically just because of this.

• jibanyan canonically becomes a robot in the future and has gay robot sex. the dub made it even more sensual attempting to censor it.

• there's some segments later on in the anime that literally revolve around komasan and komajiro basically just scolding yo-kai for various things parents complained about. the yo-kai usually do said thing again in the segment. also this all happens in a taxi.

• there's a maid café in one of the games. no i don't know how they got that into an e-rated game.

• there's seemingly some organization who decides when people die and causes their deaths. this is basically a complete non-sequitur in one episode of the anime and is then never brought up again.

• jibanyan's living form when he was a normal cat is a yo-kai separate from him. this is never acknowledged but is seemingly canon.

• there's one yo-kai who was canonically a human before he died and as a yo-kai he's a chicken nugget. i have no idea why.

• one of the main yo-kai in the series is seemingly canonically bisexual for a character who's based on an actual historical japanese shogun.

• the english version of the games translates a language barrier as yo-kai watch america just having a very strong accent.

• every cat yo-kai loves chocolate bars. no the obvious issue with this fact is not addressed.

• in the past there was a literal war started over doughnut filling.

• the games are all implied to take place within the span of a single summer, meaning that in the span of a single summer vacation the main character saved the yo-kai world from a literal TYRANT, saved the ENTIRE FUCKING TIMELINE, and saved both the human AND yo-kai world from the yo-kai mafia. they are canonically 11.

• according to her medallium entry, the yo-kai mermother literally created all life in the yo-kai watch universe. you can only get her through a gachapon machine.

• said gachapon machine is the catalyst for the events of the games, anime and manga. thank god for gacha.

OPINION: Y School Heroes Is The Hidden Jewel in the Yo-Kai Watch Crown

  Imagine a Pokémon show where Charmander and Squirtle are reincarnated as human schoolkids who look kiiiiind of like their pocket monster versions, but also have their own brand-new monster pals with which they can fuse to create half-human, half-Pokémon hybrids. So they can fight aliens. And their school can transform into a giant robot. And there are fart and poop jokes, and famous YouTuber cameos, and philosophical discussions on death. And the human Charmander and Squirtle are joined not by a human version of Bulbasaur but by some random kid, which despite everything I’ve just written, somehow feels like the craziest part of this carnival of madness.

  Did you do it? Did you imagine all of this? Congratulations. You should now have a pretty good idea of what the weird Yo-Kai Watch spin-off, Y School Heroes (2019–2021), is all about. The even weirder thing is, this might be Yo-kai Watch at its finest. Really.

  The original Yo-kai Watch games and anime had a pretty simple premise. All around us there exist supernatural creatures known as yokai that influence our lives in unique ways — like by making us irritable or annoyingly chatty or causing us to fart uncontrollably. The first 2014-2018 series was primarily that (at least in the beginning), putting a lot of emphasis on silly humor based largely on Japanese puns. Y School Heroes (also known as Yo-kai Watch Jam - Yo-kai Academy Y: Close Encounters of the N Kind), on the other hand, opens with a YouTuber asking his viewers, and consequently, those watching the show: “What do you think happens to us after we die?” cutting to images of people crying over their dead loved ones before segueing into the YT-er’s views on the structure of the afterlife. This immediately tells you this spin-off is nothing like the Yo-kai Watch you know.

  Y School Heroes is set at a school, the mysterious Y Academy, and is centered around creatures from the original game/anime reincarnated as humans. The main characters include Jinpei Jiba (based on the cat yokai Jibanyan), Sandayu Koma (based on Komasan), and Mataro Tamada who, again, is just some random kid not based on any previous yokai and, again, it’s still SUPER WEIRD. They all eventually gain the ability to transform into hybrids of humans and yokai, vengeful ghosts, and aliens so they can fight evil. And, yeah, their school building can transform into a giant robot, which is definitely bizarre, but what exactly makes the show “Yo-kai Watch at its finest?” Two things.

  First, the tone of Y School Heroes is very consistent with the original Yo-kai Watch anime, only taken to impressive extremes. For example, the latter had its share of toilet humor, literally, with characters like the yokai Fidgephant which makes you want to go to the bathroom. Or the Poofessor, who inserts symbolic “trivia poo” into your head causing you to spout off useless, wrong knowledge like Cliff from Cheers. All fine and good. Y School Heroes takes that up a hundred notches with, say, Episode 3, which is all about one character being stuck in a loop of constantly stepping in dog poo. That’s the entire plot. In another episode, through a series of weird events, another character … gets his head stuck in the behind of the school principal. In yet another episode, through a series of even weirder events, a squirrel yokai farts into Jinpei’s mouth.

  Yo-kai Watch also had the occasional nod to American culture, like with the very brief cameo of a Steve Jobs parody and his “myPhone.” Y School Heroes, always upping the ante, has an entire episode about Y Academy’s filmmaking student George Rukasu and his action-hero star Ikarino Rambo, a puntastic name that sort of translates to “Rambo of anger” and works on two levels since "rambo" is already Japanese for “violence.” Basically, what Yo-kai Watch flirts with, Y School Heroes commits to with zeal. But, in the end, it’s still the same world the first anime set up. Only … more. So much more.

  The second reason Y School Heroes might be the best Yo-kai Watch series is that it’s a self-contained world. The 2014-2018 anime had its share of strange scenes, from time travel to a yokai being made president of a company to a yokai who used to be a human but died in a freak accident and became a dog with a human face, only when he tries to live like a dog, everyone assumes he’s just a crazy old man so they keep putting him in jail. And that’s funny. But, see, the adventures of Manjimutt or the yokai CEO stories are completely unrelated to the adventures of the main character Keita (Nate in the English version). They are contained to separate vignettes that focus only on the yokai, and there is nothing wrong with that, but Y School Heroes keeps all of its action and weirdness in one place: Y Academy.

  It makes it easier to get into this world because it feels less fragmented. It feels like a more finished, more focused product. For those reasons, even though it was nothing like the original series, Y School Heroes might just be the best Yo-kai Watch show ever, and that’s even without mentioning the amazing opening.

Okay, well, it hasn’t been confirmed that Shadowside is coming back, but I wanted to talk about possible foreshadowing/ways that the show could continue.

AKA: I miss this show and I want it to come back so I’m analyzing things that could be interesting plot points.

PLEASE NOTE: This is entirely speculation and for fun. Nothing official has come out saying the show is continuing/coming back at the time this was written.

Well, first off there’s things brought up in the movie Forever Friends (which, if you haven’t seen it, I recommend you check out.) that I think could be pretty interesting to see in the show.

1. Suu-san:

One of these things is this picture during the credits:

From the looks of it, it’s Susanoo’s ark. Which makes sense, considering Akinori is his great-great-grandson. Here’s what the ark looks like for reference:

He didn’t bring it up while they were fighting Soranaki, so maybe it was given to him after the incident. Or maybe they couldn’t use it for some reason.

They could use it for a plot point where the kids summon Suu-san, or if it was blocked, they could find a way to summon him. It might be nice to see Suu-san reunite with Genbu and Byakko.

2. Ashura:

Something that was really interesting was that Ashura was working for Soranaki, and his defeat is what lets Douketsu get the Ashura Gouenmaru.

What I want to know is how did Soranaki get Ashura, and/or why Ashura would work for him anyway. Was it against his will or did Ashura do it consciously?

I like that they answered how Douketsu got the sword, but it just gave me more questions. Now that Touma has the Ashura Gouenmaru, they could find out about him working for Soranaki and try to find answers as to why.

(You know... if they continue the series...)

There’s also Yamata no Orochi, which might be an interesting topic too.

3. The Arihoshi family having the Yokai Watch

Alright, so in the movie it is established that before the watch was sealed away between Space-Time by Grandpa Enma, the Arihoshi family and Tsukuyomi were protecting it.

How did they get it? How long have they been protecting the watch?

Kine, Tae’s grandmother, had never met anyone who could use the Yokai Watch, so it’s probably been a long time since they first got it.

It’s possible that before Whisper got sealed away, he gave the watch to the Arihoshi family for safekeeping, since they’re magic users, and Tsukuyomi is their spirit guardian.

They also had Suu-san’s sword, but since Suusanoo is Tsukuyomi’s brother in their legend, it’s possible that she gave it to them for safekeeping.

Of course this is just speculation, but speaking of Tsukuyomi...

4. Tsukuyomi

She could show up again, maybe to give more insight into her relationship with the Arihoshi’s and maybe the Arihoshi family as a whole.

Tsukuyomi could also help explain how the Arihoshi family got the watch in the first place. Especially since she was so desperate to protect it that she inspirited a member of the Arihoshi to do it herself and attacked everyone in her path.

There’s something here that could be expanded upon in interesting ways.

5. The Himeno family

We know Ayame has magic, and is a descendant of a powerful sorcerer, but was her family once like Akinori’s? Did they actively practice magic at one point, and if that’s the case, why did they stop?

Did they have a guardian, like how the Arihoshi’s have Tsukuyomi, at one point? If so, are they still around, or if they did have a guardian but don’t anymore, what happened to them?

Ayame’s family hasn’t been really explored all that much, aside from a shot of the back of her parent’s heads and Akinori’s grandma talking about her ancestor.

At this point, Ayame herself doesn’t have much to do anymore, now that the Jorogumo plot is over, aside from make Akinori a hopeless loverboy.

It’s an opportunity to flesh out Ayame’s character more, and expand on the lore of the Yokai Watch world.

6. Akinori’s parents

We’ve seen all the main character’s parents, except for Akinori’s (and Tae’s, but I’ll get to that). Where are they?

Are they dead? Are they not involved in his life?

Maybe it’s a traditional thing where the oldest in the family teaches the kids magic. Tae was with her grandmother with no parents there either, so it’s possible.

I want to see them address it in the show, or at all, because I genuinely want to see what the deal is.

At least Akinori has Mitsue, Whisper, Micchi and Junior as family.

7. The Genjuu/Mythical Beast King

The Genjuu King was mentioned by Suzaku, and was the one who took away his Suzaku Sotenzan because he called him ‘Cute Little King‘ by mistake, but he’s never shown.

Considering the reason he got so mad was because he was called ‘Cute Little King‘, he’s probably something that’s not very intimidating and is insecure.

It wouldn’t be too far fetched to have the group go to see the Genjuu King, especially with Akinori having the Animasu. It’s also a chance to get more into what’s up with the Kenbumajin, since they’re literally Genjuu given human forms.

It has the potential for an interesting plot point.

8. Shutendoji

So, at the end of Shadowside, Shutendoji doesn’t really have anything to do right now. He followed Shien, then started trying to find Shuka, but now he doesn’t have anyone.

Well, except for the Yokai Detective Agency.

I want to see what they do with him. Is he going to still be a villain, looking for a boss to help take over the Yokai World, or is he going to become like a weird frienemy?

He kind of already went with the latter near the end of the series, but he just left and we didn’t see him go back to the agency at the end. I doubt he’ll leave the agency alone, so I want to see where they take the character.

9. Whisper’s Past

Of course I’d mention this, Whisper’s my favorite character, but it’s still a good plot point that I’m disappointed they didn’t mention before. Though, it does make sense when looking back at it.

The closest we get is his speech to Sebas in ep28, which is more of a vague reference to what we know, if you already know what happened.

Maybe it could be like Jibanyan’s past episode in the Shadowside series, where it’s a brief recap surrounded by plot. Maybe they could give us something new, kind of like Usuta, (maybe explain what’s up with him, that would be great too).

A good idea would be, as I’ve mentioned in the past, the kids going to the museum for whatever reason, and pass an exhibit about the Sengoku/Mitsunari where Whisper gets sad and reminisces for a moment.

(Could be a Micchi, Whisper and Junior episode, maybe? An episode focused on these three would be great on its own, honestly, I love their dynamic.)

10. Keita

It would be great for the anime to address Keita having the watch, more than the how they’ve been doing with vague nods to it. I want them to do it differently than they did in the manga, though. (From what I saw, he gets his a watch, which I don’t want. I just want them to address it and go.)

Maybe it’s just the kids finding out about it, either by chance or a slip of Whisper’s tongue, and wanting to find out more.

It makes sense that Natsume and Keisuke, especially Natsume, would want to know more about it.

Jibanyan doesn’t remember his time with Keita, and he could try to get answers from Whisper, or he remebers and that’s how the kids find out. Regardless, Jibanyan should be a part of it, in my opinion.

11. Inaho/Haily Anne and Usapyon

I just want them to address where Inaho and Usapyon went.

It could even tie in with the kids learning Keita had the Yokai Watch before Natsume and Keisuke. Whisper could mention that someone else had a Yokai Watch and ran a detective agency, so this perks the kids’ interest (especially Akinori’s) and they try to find her.

But, as much as I’d love at least a cameo of them, they don’t even have to show them. Just a mention of where they ended up.

(Shoehorning in that my headcanon is that they ended up working with Diana Gately and are now studying the Gates of Whimsy as a way for space/multidimensional travel.)

12. New Yokai

There are a bunch of new yokai and new designs for old yokai introduced in YKW4, so possibly just a bunch of cases focused on these yokai.

There can also be some that we haven’t seen before.

Personally, I want to see more yokai like Jorogumo. Like, yokai that are scary-looking, shamelessly evil, can’t be redeemed, and have to be put down. That’s my jam.

So those were my ideas for plot points that Shadowside could go over if it ever comes back.
