OKAY, venting about technology time again (woo)! I fixed my RAM issue (yay) and it turns out only one of my 4 16GB sticks is bad so I won't even have to replace it (double woo)!

SO, time for some drawing, OR SO I THOUGHT. I loaded up Clip Studio Paint and got ready for some drawing BUT I quickly encountered lag issues. After installing drivers, system scans, fiddling with settings, LOTS OF BROWSING ANCIENT FORUMS, suffering and woe, I FINALLY realised that it was my FUCKING USB CAMERA that I WASN'T EVEN USING AT THE TIME.

I unplugged that sucker and all my problems went away (by the time I'd finished, I had uncovered more weird issues caused by it like menus flickering). I probably plugged it into a different slot than before after I took out the bad RAM and it somehow caused a whole bunch of weird issues!

It took me two hours-ish to solve this but the evidence was all there before me: I was told that Xbox controllers could cause similar issues with CSP and the DAMN THING WAS BLINKING ERRATICALLY AT ME THE WHOLE TIME so... I got there eventually but my detective skills are fairly weak XD

Anyway, just needed to vent and also CELEBRATE ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL (if drawn out) REPAIR BY THIS AMATEUR IT PERSON.

I wonder what my next computer based disaster will be...#Hopefully that broken RAM was a one off #the errors were concentrated over a very narrow memory window #and the stick was six years old #so hopefully #I love my PC and I'm glad she's feeling better <3

isn't it weird how if you get up at 7 or 8, do your work all day, then have free time and go to bed at 11 that's absolutely fine

but if i said i get up at 10, do fun stuff in the morning then work in the evening and go to bed late, i could be called lazy, nevermind that i'm getting just as much or MORE work done as i would in a traditional work day

#ramble #idk if this is a me problem or not #i've tried to do the early rise early bed thing again and again and it just does not work for me doing freelance right now #maybe it's bc i used to work at a bar so i'm more comfortable being active in the evening #i love working at night because there's less going on to distract me #what used to happen is i would get up early then fight executive dysfunction all day saying i couldn't do fun stuff until i did my work #then my will to work would hit at 10pm and i'd be up till 2am anyway #right now my routine is waking up later and playing a game or knitting for an hour or so and then working in the afternoon and evening #something something capitalism and 9-5 and adhd don't go together #this sounds like i'm just making excuses but it works and i'm actually getting shit done and sleeping enough so i don't see the problem #i just figured i'm probably going to sit and do nothing for a few hours in the morning anyway so i might as well give myself permission to

lmao sorry to everyone in my inbox, this month has been a mess and I'm just not really around enough for it. someone in my immediate family got a new cancer diagnosis, my not-art job got restructured because management is a joke and it's been.... not great, to be honest! to top it off, my mom's cousin just died because the major hospital didn't have enough beds open for the provincial hospital to transfer him. etc etc etc.

anyway. it's been a lot and I'm Very Tired Of Things Happening 🙃

#tbd later #SHDSSHSH im so behind on emails and emails take precedent over my inbox but i WILL get around to my inbox at some point #its also annoying (in general) that the healthcare system in america is in such shambles that i can't book an appointment #with any doctor in public transit distance because everyone's maxxed out like okay! i cant afford private health insurance so i guess #we'll just figure things out ourselves. I GUESS #AND because of how freelancer taxes work i still havent saved up quite enough for a new laptop and im running out of space on my phone for #books aughghghghghgh (books = art&history related research etc. it's for work. my current set up is very goofy)
