Oh, hey, well THIS has different resonance now that we know Ferrix is LITERALLY built of its dead. Man. Gonna have to thing about that for a WHILE.
So lets talk about the design of Ferrix, shall we? I mean, not the physical set qua set, which is amazing and I just sort of want to live there. But rather, let's consider the actual design style at work, okay?
Tumblr media
Okay. So that's the hotel in Episode 5, yeah? The one that Blevin is clearing out for the dude who wants to be a Prefect to use as his headquarters, right?
That, my friends, is a gorgeous variation on Bauhaus style. Look at those awesome curved curtain balconies, the round windows, the repeated geometric forms. Honestly, it makes me think of some photographs I've seen of Bauhaus-style apartment blocks in Tel Aviv.
Bauhaus architecture is a celebration of art, craft, form and function-- meant to be livable and practical, and also thoughtful, visually coherent, and accessible to folks of all means. It was a form of architecture that came out of the ashes of World War I in the brief, explosively creative period of the Weimar Republic.
Tumblr media
I absolutely love that this is the architectural form ANDOR is using for Ferrix-- it's working class. Deceptively plain, until you appreciate the sweep of the windows, the thoughtfulness and accessibility of space.
I especially love it, given its history. Because the Bauhaus movement, which began in the Weimar Republic, was outlawed under the Third Reich as part of what was identified as "degenerate art," because its emphasis on internationalism and working-class accessibility was deemed too communist and un-German.
I mean, it's not a freaking accident that the set designer, Luke Hull, decided to go with an architectural style outlawed by a fascist regime, yeah? Ugh, it's all so thoughtful.
I'm deeply interested to see what happens with the direct occupation of Ferrix in future episodes-- we're clearly headed back there at some point, and I'm interested to see what, if anything, happens to the physical space.
(Next time on SomeInstant Decides to Obsess About Architecture, we can talk about the Brutalism on Coruscant! IT'LL BE FUN!)*

*Edited to add in the link to the Brutalism discussion, because y'all are bad influences.

it is always nice to find another abuse survivor who also felt like ford's story resonated with them. it's nice to feel like there's other people who know what I'm talking about

You claimed that “it's like [Skinner] is just a kicked puppy sometimes and I wanna hug him” so could you maybe make something where he gets comforted please?

me: *slaps roof of sentence* this bad boy can fit so many subordinate clauses in it!
sentence in question: *collapses at the slightest touch like a fucking jenga tower, adverbs clattering down all over the floor, nouns lying broken and bleeding, impaled on verbs they were never meant to touch,*

my favourite thing about the always sunny podcast is listening to rcg all say something extremely neurodivergent and then agree amongst themselves and convince themselves its completely normal
#and to be clear im not diagnosing them charlie said he wasn't neurotypical#like deadass i think. the reason some of their writers just completely botch the gang's motivations/dialogue sometimes is bc at their core#these characters are all. SO autistic. which inevitably leads to them being misunderstood by others outside their group#whether rcg realizes it or not they inject this very specific vibe of neurodivergence into the gang#and its why they will just. argue over inconsequential details bc they Need to be understood completely#they can't just drop it unless they are crystal fucking clear#imo the biggest mistake other writers make is thinking that the gang is completely desensitized when its more like#they just don't react the way you would expect#which is often... adjacent to that but still distinct. and its trauma that influences this as well#the gang does not believe they themselves are 'bad people'. theyre most often oblivious to the fact that the things they do are insane#rob saying he doesnt pick up on social cues and then going on to argue in circles with glenn#i dont think last week was anything crazy but i think. rob doesn't know when to let up. which is a problem that *i* have#and while it comes across as being confrontational in an 'im right youre wrong' way i dont think its driven by ego here#just like with how as they said mac and dennis are making up while chucking bread rolls at each other#on both sides its frustration at being misunderstood#but they are all similar enough that even if they disagree over small details theyre usually on the same page. and this can be beneficial!!#thats the conclusion of the ep!!!! whether its suggesting smoking to cancel out the toxic apple skin or suggesting words u cant think of#glenn said he was upset about feeling misrepresented and picked on#dennis gets angry for those exact reasons in.... ALL of his big rage scenes#its frustration that leads to anger because youre speaking to (another) brick wall and you can't adequately explain yourself#which. glenn is clearly more competent than dennis & i think a lot of the time in sunny the gang is WAY more obtuse for the sake of comedy#but its interesting to watch the dynamic because as charlie said last week#they are mac and dennis (especially when theyre fighting)#i just think.. they are in a semi-unique position to understand this because this is how they are. while several other writers do not get i#ada speaks#untagged

rewatching she-ra again while I draw and and and omfg
In S5 when Wrong Hordak (never not funny) asks Entrapta about her "facial tic" and she IMMEDIATELY just explains to him what it is - a wink - what it's called and how it's used and THEN gives him encouragement to try it out so he understands it better and feels more confident??
My. Fucking. Heart. neurodivergent ppl looking out for neurodivergent ppl and showcasing EXACTLY how to just not be a dick to people who don't get social cues. It's not our fault. It's not personal. It's not us trying to be difficult. We just don't get it. Explain it, give an example, a safe place to practice it and boom, logged and loaded.

It is more than music, it is an orchestra. It is more than an orchestra, it is a fellowship. It does not matter who you are, where you come from. In fact it does not matter where you will continue on your way. It does not matter how old you are, if you are working as an unskilled worker or a top manager. It does not matter if your instrument is worth a cheap meal or a new car. There are no status symbols, only genuine symbols, just as many as we are. Even if we are many, we are not just a loud crowd. We are not alike, but we are not different either. We all need to be there, to be someone together and you are exactly that person we can not miss.
CityRocks was founded by a group of friends and musicians in Szeged, Hungary, 2017. The aim of the initiative is to bring live music, including rock music, to as many people as possible, and to provide a concert experience for amateurs who have only been able to play at home so far, in addition to professional and experienced musicians. Participants in CityRocks include children in the same way as the older age group. There is no lower or upper age limit. At the concerts so far, the youngest instrumental participant was 8 and the oldest was 74 years old. Another basic goal of CityRocks is to create a cohesive, music-loving and cultivating community, in addition to promoting live music and rock.
Following the pioneering initiative of the Italian Rockin1000, CityRocks first organized its special rock flashmob in Szeged in 2018, and since then they have given major orchestra concerts and a full-day music program in several Hungarian cities and abroad (Transylvania).
Every city who invites our project, becomes the capital of live music and be part of this unique community for one day. It is not just about music, but it is the connection between us.
Join us to be a member of the biggest rock band in Central Europe. Soon you will realize that you joined much more than a loud crowd.
Happy Friday everyone!
Have a Great Weekend and Don't Forget to Rock ❗❗❗🎶🎼
