Bullied reverse course darling
Tumblr media
[ YANDERE HEADCANONS ] [ Junko, Nagito, Ibuki, Mikan ]
[ Trigger Happy Havoc ] [ Goodbye Despair ]
⚠️ Yandere, I don't support nor try to romanticize this toxic behaivor, is just for entretaiment
Tumblr media
This was really interesting to write! I think ultimate x reverse student is already an interesanting prompt!!
I had to left out Kyoko because i don't feel like writing for her, instead I made Mikan! Hope you don't mind
Tumblr media
Junko Enoshima
Junko is always looking for something that could bring her happiness through the despair, even if that mean putting into action the craziest plan. For you two to meet isn't too difficult because of this, although is probably that Junko won't be interested in you right away unless she senses the despair you are going throught
Junko's interest and obsession on you will grow really fast, once she notice the problems you are having with the bullying thay imediatly pick her interesant, she probably will watch you from afar but has no problem with going with you directly immediatly, she just wants to be able to observe you and find out how much this is affecting you. Junko is incredibly smart and observant so it won't take her much time before she gets all the information she can, how much students and who is bullying you, how much it affects you, what hurts you the most, what you do to cope with the bullying, and so on, she gets all the information until she is satisfied
Although, she will never really grow fully satisfied, the more she learns for you the more obsesive she grows, for what she just wants to know more and more about you. She started by just getting interested because of the despair but it slowly becomes to be interested in all of you, and no matter what you say or do her once Junko grew obsessed over you she will never leave you alone
Junko is well aware that her feelings towards you aren't exactly wholesome or normal, but she doesn't care at all, as long as it brings her happiness and joy to her life she doesn't really care for anything else, not even your safety, is almost as if you became her little toy to play without you being able to do anything about it
At some point, probably pretty soon, Junko will came to you and start befriend you, not really hidding her true personality but actually trying to be charming just to make sure you don't run away from her since the start. Junko is really smart and has a whole plan to charm you to trust her and let her in your personal life before she wins the full control of your life, although is probably that she puts her plan into action even after start befriending you
Junko is well aware that you suffer from bullying and is probably that she act worried or even offended just at first to try to lull you into her game, but she doesn't actually care much for the bullying, in fact is something she actually cheerish because it brings you despair and thats what she love the most
Even once Junko becomes closer to her darling and starting winning more control over their life she won't stop the bullying yet, she will even secretly encourge the bullies and indirectly give them information to bother you only for her to watch the scene amused. However even the bullying is something she wins control over it, she control when and how much you get bullied, she just let it happen enough for her to be satisfied by the the beautiful scene of you falling into despair, and her feeling of despair while watching someone else mistreaten her darling
Although, as much as Junko loves this situation she grows mad with your bullies over time, she likes that you are feeling despair but she should be the only one who makes you feel that way, so even if at some point she had encourage them now she despises them so she will take matter into action, no matter how hypocrite may be she will end up punishing your bullies in the worst way posible, enjoying every single moment of it while making them feel the great despair!
It isn't safe to say that you'll be free of the bullying, because even if your bullies suddenly disappear that will just give Junko free pass to be the only one giving you that sweet despair and no one will stop her from doing it, not even you
Tumblr media
Nagito Komaeda
It would be a little difficult for Nagito to even interact with reverse course due him despising them, he doesn't go out of his way to bullied them but he isn't kind whenever interacting with someone from the reverse course either
For you two meet, or well, for him to start actually interacting with you has to be because he has see you around the campus more than once, already seeing people bothering you but also seeing you still go on with your day or that he doesn't know that you are talentless, in any case it won't take much time before you pick his interest and he start to actively trying to learn more about you, either by watching you from afar or directly starting to talk with you (if he doesn't know you are talentless he will saying self-depracating things but not much since he isn't sure if you are an ultimate or not)
Nagito's ideals were deeply ingrained and he couldn't go against them, so for him to actually start falling for a reverse student has to be because he already knows your potential, after watching for a while and getting to know you better he will slowly get convinced that even if you are a talentless you are really hopeful, going to Hope's Peak Academy despite not having any kind of talent, getting constantly bullied by it and still always making your best to keep going, to keep attending to class and trying to have some peace shows the great hope inside of you
It take a while but once the simple idea of you being quite hopeful grows on his mind the idea will only grow more and more with time, from now on, in his eyes, everything you do is for the sake or motivated for your hope, no matter what you do nor what you think of himself that won't change the way he sees you now, or his growing obsession for you
He takes a little advantage of your position as a reverse course student to get close to you, interact with you and even being a little pushy with it if you don't seem too interested on him, even when he had started looking up at you he doesn't treat you as the hopeful deitity he sees you yet, you are still a reverse course student and it would take him a while for him to get used to that, but in the meantime he is acting really kind and friendly with you
He tries to spend all the time he can with you by the excuse of just wanting to be your friend, while, in the shadows he is just feeding more and more his believe of you having the potential to become the ultimate hope. Nagito lull you into trusting him and charm you with his friendly attitude until you two are really close, and then is when he start to show more his worshiping and obsesive tendencies because to that moment he already knows (or have convinced himself) how hopeful you are, even if you would find it weird or even disturbing there is not way to turn back down, he has found the ultimate hope and he must protect and serve them (even if he sees himself unwhorthy)
At first, the bullying you recived used to be something that he didn't care, but now that he knows how hopeful you are he can't just have that, he rather take all that hate and mistreat on himself than letting anything bad reach you, that is why he tried to protect you from the bullied by diferent ways, keeping you as far away from those people who just wish you ill and taking it himself (if he can), although he may even start thinking bad of them, even if your bullies are ultimates they aren't even close to be able to compare to you, so he may just teach them a lesson for even just thinking bad of you, but that would depend on what they have done to you and how bad do you feel about what happened, or if you ended injured (although, he is pretty easy to be trigger when it comes to you, specially if your safety is on risk)
Nagito is determinated to protect you and keep you safe from anything and everything, his own sanity slowly starts to depend more on you, that is why you being bullied start to make him feel paranoia, he already fears that you might end up hurt because of his luck but you being actively hurt by others just makes his worries be even worst, to the point where he just can't keep calm when it comes to your safety. If he is able to stop the bullying his paranoia won't grow much, but if his efforts fails and the bullies keep going he may just snap and do something serious against them or even just kidnap you
It sadden Nagito to be so far from you during classes, he can't just concentrate in anything else because his mind is just full of thoughts of you, from wondering if you are alright to feeling like a failure for not being there with you, or even feeling unwhorthy and thinking that probably you will be better if he just stays away from you and leave you be (although his paranoia won't let him leave you alone), he isn't able to calm down until he is able to see you again
Tumblr media
Ibuki Mioda
Ibuki is a really open minded and friendly person, she likes talking and making new friends so if she ever get to know you she won't think twice before already treating you as a friend, for her it doesn't matter if you are talentless or ultimate, she want to know your true self
She may don't fully get that you are being bullied if she doesn't see it personaly, but she does notice the little hints like being uncomfortable or even weird out by the fact that she is talking to you like a friend, she acts goofy and friendly but she is weel aware how a lot of people take advantage of the school system to pick on reverse students and that is why she tries to don't make a big deal out of it
It probably won't take much time for Ibuki to cross your wary walls and get right into your heart, even if at first is just by being friends, she is just happy that you finally accept her and from then she won't leave you alone never again
Ibuki end up falling for her darling because of her personality, no matter if you are introvert or extrovert she'll find you incredibly adorable and fascinating in your own way and that is when her obsession becomes, it grows so slowly and inconspicuously that is almost scary, and, since her whole behavior is always being affectionate, clingy and energetic it isn't that weird and can come across as normal when she start to become more and more clingy and invasive
Ibuki doesn't think bad of her feelings, she knows perfectly fine that she is in love with you, although she ignores the fact that the intensity of her feeling is abnormal and just accept them with open arms
With time Ibuki grows quite intense when it comes to her darling in diferent aspects, you suffering from bullying was something she used to find reprehensible, something really bad that must stop, one or other way, she wants to help you in a good healthy way but she is just too intense to the point were she grows even impulsive, she tries to distract you and comfort you while taking you away from the bullies, she hopes that that would be enough but if people insist on bothering you she will just step in and protect you from your bullies, confronting them and asking them to stop, but if they still don't listen then they left Ibuki without other option than taking action and punish them, is more likely that if Ibuki is pushed to her limit she end up just killing them with the excuse that is just for the sake of her darling (she doesn't regret it nor shows sorry for them, they were the bad guys anyways)
No matter what resources Ibuki is forced to use to protect her darling she will not stop being the smiling and affectionate person she has been with her darling since the start, even after killing she just came and act as always, although Ibuki's feelings will depend for what the bullies have done, if you are traumstized or they didn't stop in time Ibuki will just grows a little paranoid and end up insolating you (without even having to kidnap you), assuring you that Ibuki is the person you can trust with your life and even convincing you that she is the only one you can trust
Tumblr media
Mikan Tsumiki
It could be a little difficult for you to meet, even when Mikan doesn't mind at all the fact that you are a reverse student, but for her it would take a while to feel comfortable around you just because of her abusive past
You two can easily empathize with each other since both had being bullied (although, probably you haven't being mistreaten to the same point that Mikan had suffered but at least you can understand her), however she wouldn't take it too well at first, thinking that she is in a too shameful state and you are just pitying her if you ever mention it
For Mikan to grow obsesive over you it has to be because you seem to be liking to mistreate her and only her or being really kind towards her, and for being in a similar potition is more probably that you two become a comfort zone for each other, someone with who you two can just be without judgment nor titles, and that is how she becomes obsesive and even dependent on you pretty quickly
Is until Mikan grows obsesive that she starts to feel bothered by the fact that you are a reverse student, but it is only because that is the reason why she can't be with you all the time, leading her to feel more and more desperate with every minute that she pass away from you, the distress fullfiling her until she is finally to be able to see you, probably even cry a little and apologizing for being so needy and bothering you with her insistance (not matter how much you reasure her is the same everytime)
Mikan think of you as perfect, even if you are talentless she doesn't mind at all, and she wants to know everything she can about you, so at some point she will try to win the courage to ask you about your class in the reverse course for being actually interested more on your life, however she will quickly apologize the firsts times she ask because she fears you may think that she is trying to make fun of you
She won't know about you being bullied unless you tell her or she sees it, either by actually watching it happen or because she help you with the bruises, at first she was just feeling bad about the situation but as her obsession grows it becomes a topic that start to bother her more and more, it makes her feel helpless and usless, it makes her feel like she is being nothing but a bother for you since you already has to handle a lot with a rough academic program on the reverse course and also the constant bullying and now having to deal with her and her clumsiness, she feel really bad about it but everytime you do as much as smile at her she can't help but feel like with you is where she belongs, where she can be happy, even if you were just doing it for pity she wouldn't mind as long as you don't leave her
Everytime Mikan gets to see the hints of you being bullies (like being sad or even physicaly hurt) she can't help but feel even more usless, almost at the verge of tears, she rather have to endure the bullying you are suffering than leaving you suffer it, and it just gets worst when she saw it in front of her (that won't take much time before happening because of how clingy she is, to the point of becoming a stalker)
The moment she sees you being bullied she just froze and feel like if her entire world start to fall apart, she feel so impotent for not being able to do anything and so shameful that it would take her a while to finally look at you in the eyes again. If she ever gets to see it again it would be almost the same, until she finally win the courage to step in and try to stop the bullying, probably just offering to take your place
Mikan will just grow paranoid over time because of the bullying and how much time you two spend away, everytime there is evidence that you have being bullied or even saw it she treats it as if you were about to die, it causes so much distress that she end up taking things into matter and makes sure to take their life in her hands, that way they will never bother you again and she can make sure you are safe, she will finally be useful for you

Have you ever done RoD class 78 AND class 77 together before I genuinely cannot remember? I know you have a story about RoD class 78 on AO3 but it's not both classes together. Anyways like your previous idea everyone except Makoto is in despair and they keep him around because he is simultaneously their hope amd despair. Despair because he has to watch his friends do things they would have never done, and hope because some of them are waiting for him to join them.
How would the RoD of class 77 view their situation and what would their dynamic be now that they're both fighting for Junko's affection?
This is really cool!!
The envy over class 78 perpetually having more of Junko's attention and favor than them would be such great despair for the 77th class.
Mondo's "every biker gang in Japan" and Fuyuhiko's, ya know, yakuza, are constantly fighting over turf, because now there's factions within the Ultimate Despair. This lawlessness benefits their side, of course. When it doesn't benefit them to be at odds, they're allies. But they all want to be the ones to earn Junko's approval, and her classmates know her better and she cares about them more. Officially, though, the 77th class has "double seniority", because they're upperclassmen and they were initiated as despair first.
Basically, by objective measures of rank and usefulness, the 77th class should be the favorites; they have a princess controlling kingdoms on Junko's behalf, for despair's sake! They worship her way more than her class does. But she simply doesn't like them as much, and that hurts.
Okay, now Makoto!
He is hanging on to his morals, but naturally his mental health is in shambles. Basically, it's the status quo of Despair's Throbbing Heart, for him; he is keeping layers of denial and dissociation between himself and the horrors and surfacing from that state when there's someone he can save or influence.
The arrangement he's in would be different, in this AU.
The 77th class like to make fun of the 78th class for the fact that their luckster is still on "that good guy BS". They even point to Nagito proudly, like, "Look at our luckster! He set a convenience store on fire yesterday. What's your guy been doing?"
Nagito loves this. His class has never been so supportive and affectionate toward him.
The 78th class's response to this is largely defensive. Like, "Stop bullying Makoto! He's just a late bloomer!" Meanwhile, they all do their best to get him into despair. (Hifumi is the most creative about it.) At first, he meets every attempt with yelling protestations and passionate insistence that they're not like this! He knows them, and they're not like this! After they've done it enough, he loses the energy for such displays, but that doesn't mean he's given up. Every time they do a horrible thing in front of him and he shuts down emotionally, they wait eagerly for him to start laughing or pawing curiously at the ashes or something to indicate he's enjoying it, but he just shuts down for a while and, when his mind considers it safe to resurface, changes the subject.
He still argues and protests what they're doing, but now that he's no longer shocked every time, he can ration his energy so that he's subtle when he needs to be subtle and insistent when he needs to be insistent.
Junko lowkey loves it. When she visits her friends, there will be at least one time where she beckons Makoto over to sit with her and just kind of guides his head to rest on her...chest. Strokes his hair with her long nails and calls him a freak of nature and tells him he disgusts her. Sayaka's cuddled up against his other side, sometimes, but sometimes Junko takes care to get him alone. Quietly, in an alternatingly sweet, cruel, and emotionless tone, she tries to wear him down by talking at length about the futility of his resistance and how much happier he and everyone will be if he just gives in to despair.
He's sometimes trembling with fury while she does this, and sometimes he's just staring into space. Either way, he's managing his energy. He can't fight what she's doing to others if he wastes energy defending himself. And she knows it.
He seems not to be listening, but he saves her words in his mind. Sometimes they're useful, to get his friends to spare people based on little loopholes or slants in what Junko said.
The 77th class repeatedly offers to borrow Makoto for a weekend, claiming they can get him to despair, where his own class has failed. The 78th class tries to refuse, but Junko tells them to let the senpais try. So, sometimes Makoto visits them.
They think he's adorable and weird.
He gravitates toward the ones who do the least horrible stuff in front of him (Ibuki doesn't seem to personally kill anyone.) and the ones who seem the most capable of uncomplicated affection (Akane treats him like a younger sibling, and there doesn't seem to be any edge of weird, fond cruelty to it.).
Nagito and Izuru are fascinated with him.
Both the hope and despair in Nagito are delighted by Makoto. Makoto causes Nagito's class to view him favorably, to take pride in him. But also, Makoto has shown himself to be the best of them, somehow. There is a light within him that cannot be extinguished. It's a precious gift that he simultaneously wants to see destroyed and protected. Literally, any direction that Makoto goes will make Nagito happy, either from the perverse glee of seeing someone so amazing finally falling to despair, or the wholesome glee of seeing him continue to soar above the filth that has claimed everyone else. Either way, he is transfixed. After they've spent more time together, he'll probably start to care about personally protecting the good in Makoto, but at first he's just watching the fireworks with his hands behind his back.
Izuru is likewise fascinated by the unexpected fortitude. Since Makoto is subject to more avenues of attack to his morale, in this AU, than he is in Despair's Throbbing Heart, he's less overtly friendly in this AU than in that fic. He's kind, but he's more careful about who he opens himself up to, meaning the side of himself that he shares with Izuru is less an immediate friendliness than a quiet kindness. Still, Izuru is intrigued by it, and a part of him he doesn't consciously recognize is starved for kindness.
Both Nagito and Izuru are pretty overt about these feelings.
Sometimes Makoto wakes up to see a shadowy figure standing over his bed. "Kamukura?" he guesses from the long hair.
"I was walking past your door, and I heard you having a nightmare. I was curious, so I came to watch."
"...Okay." Makoto rolls over and goes back to sleep.
When Junko has her weird cuddle sessions with Makoto, Nagito will post up to watch, like it is a critically-acclaimed one-act play.
Both of them are constantly commenting on Makoto's behavior out loud in front of him, like they're the Twitch chat of his life.
Occasionally, someone like Akane or Taka will ask Makoto if those guys are bothering him, but he always says no.
(They don't know enough about Izuru to know that there wouldn't be much they could do about it if he was.)

DAY 3: DANGANTOBER
Tumblr media
Day 3: Favorite THH Character Makoto Naegi is a cutie patootie. End post.
No, but in all seriousness, I love Makoto. I know I spent the majority of last post ranting about how much I love Hajime, but that doesn't mean I love Makoto any less.
I'll be real, I love the THH cast, so it was very difficult to pick a favorite from that group. I was between Celestia, Junko, Byakuya, and Makoto, but Makoto's who I went with. Like with Hajime, I was worried that Makoto would just be an self-insert character, and in-game, he kind of is? But people also misremember him in game. People characterize him all the time as non-confrontational, and just a hopeful, positive person, but he's a lot more nuanced than that.
Let's not forget that Makoto tried to throw hands with Monokuma more than once, that's pretty confrontational to me. While he puts up a front of a positive, hopeful person, he also has his moments of being affected by everything that's happened to him. Seriously, replay the game, he's got a lot more bite to him.
He's the kind of person I'd want to be friends with, he's a very sweet person, who's not afraid to throw down for the people he cares about.
I also really like his sibling relationship with Komaru. If you skipped UDG, I don't blame you, but aside from the obviously weird things happening in that game, there's also a lot of world building and substance. Maybe watch a playthrough, cringe with whoever's playing it, and get that good lore.
You can see it in the anime too, he just lights up when he sees Komaru's transmission go through, because it's confirmation that he still has her around. Up until that point, he wasn't sure if his family was still around, and now he knows he still has his sister. It's very sweet, and the way he has so much faith in her, and knows she's capable to do whatever it is she needs to do.
But it's The End of Hope's Peak anime that really does it in for me, and cements him as one of my favorite characters. I get it, I'm basic. But one of the bigger points I see get brought up about Makoto, is that they don't really explore the trauma that would go along with being in a game like that. Which is false, but it's definitely something the game doesn't really focus on for the sake of plot.
But in the anime, you can really see how much that affects him. Makoto Naegi suffers from survivor's guilt, and it's so incredibly potent. That moment made me so sad, I had to close my computer and actually GO TO SLEEP? That can't be right. Granted, I watched that episode at like, 2AM, but rewatching it in the morning hit just as hard.
Like with Nagito, Bryce Papenbrook really gives his all for Makoto, including in the anime. You hear it all the time, whether he's just giving someone a pep talk, or reacting to the newest death in the game. He's smarter than people give him credit for, like in the fight with Munakata, he figures out his forbidden action and traps him in a situation where he needs to sit down and talk with him, all on his own. I'd say he's more emotionally intelligent, but he's definitely got brains in his little noggin.
Please, I want his Nendoroid so badly. I own a plushie of him in Future Arc, I bought it at a local fair, and he's my prized possession.
On the topic of emotional intelligence, he's very forgiving and compassionate too. One thing you should know about me, is that I love the SDR2 cast, including when they're the Remnants of Despair. They're cool, their designs are cool, and they're CRIMINALLY underused. Makoto is the one who was able to see past the people they had become, and see the hurt people underneath. Most of the world had written them off as despair-laden monsters, but Makoto actually went against the wants of the Future Foundation in order to rehabilitate them.
Even if it causes him issues, Makoto is very caring and will do what's right. His sense of morality is one that is evidently difficult to skew.
And finally, he's a cutie patootie. The rest of this post will be GIFs of him looking adorable.

I'm curious on your opinion of this theory:
https://behind-xemnas.tumblr com/post/172959032331/theory-nagito-komaeda-returned-to-being-ultimate
i do assume this theory is just for fun but i’m still going to nitpick at it because its entire basis is on a fundamental misunderstanding of the way komaeda’s behavior is affected by the environment he’s in (for anyone that doesn’t want to go read the whole post — the theory is that komaeda is so fucked up in the game but far less homicidal in the anime because he somehow became re-brainwashed once the killing game began, explaining the difference in behavior)
op points out that komaedas behavior changes from calming to insane once the killing game begins, and they don’t seem to understand that this drastic change is because komaeda has experienced a change in environment. before monokuma appeared, the island was peaceful, and so komaeda was acting calmer; however, it turned into a life or death situation within just hours of their arrival, an extremely high stress situation. the plan with teruteru that komaeda rigged to get himself killed was komaeda’s natural response to stress, in the same way YOUR natural response to stress might be to crawl up in your bed and cry. but komaeda is deeply emotionally repressed, and so his stress responses aren’t conventional. he’s logical and intelligent, he wants to rig the situation for the sake of hope.
compare it to island mode. komaeda’s still fucked up, but he doesn’t plan any elaborate murder suicide schemes. because he’s not in a stressful environment. and so there’s nothing pushing him to.
this weird brainwashing theory is not “the only way komaeda makes sense.” komaeda DOES make sense, if you take the time to actually analyze his mind
evidence op claimed that i’d like to debunk:
- the swirly eye thing. in danganronpa, swirling eyes does not equate to brainwashed, it equates to a feeling of despair; the reason why everyone had swirly eyes when they were being brainwashed was because the brainwashing forced them into a state of despair. they use junko as evidence and yes junko was ult despair but she never. she never brainwashed herself 😭😭😭 she was never a remnant?
- ai junko would just not single out komaeda like that sorry. he was one of the most boring remnants lol. there’s no reason for her to she dont gaf about him
- the brainwashing didn’t make komaeda more obsessed with hope. “but he doesn’t seem to be obsessed with it in the anime and when he gets brainwashed he gets real obsessed w hope” he very clearly was obsessed w it from the start im sorry like he talks about it all the time. they just dont hound in on it in despair arc because they already did in dr2 + run time limits + in a non stressful environment (hpa school life) komaeda doesn’t need to rely on his hope obsession as a coping mechanism as much, but when he is put in a stressful environment (like being fucking BRAINWASHED) he needs to fall back on that coping mechanism
- the brainwashing made him more obsessed with despair, in fact — it made him want to create despair with the justification that it was “for the sake of hope.” brainwashed komaeda was meant to be obsessed with both sides.
- izuru does not care about komaeda as a variable specifically either. we see his disinterestedness in the boat scene after he’s able to analyze komaeda’s psyche. the whole point for him was to create a battle between hope and despair to see which was more worth his time; keeping komaeda despaired rigs the battle
- claiming he committed suicide because he was brainwashed takes away from the meaning of the act. he did it because he wanted his life to mean something, and he thought that the only way he could do that was via grand sacrifice. a pathetic attempt to give himself meaning in the final days of his life expectancy. if you think about it, all three characters that achieve ult hope status don’t do it without some sort of self sacrifice. this theory takes away that theme by taking away komaedas full consciousness of his actions. he did it all of his OWN ACCORD and that is why its so much more tragic.
- komaeda did not kill for the sake of killing like mikan did. he was TRYING TO GET HIMSELF KILLED. IT WAS A SUICIDE PLAN NOT A MURDER PLAN. also mikan killed people she was attached to, teruteru had no emotional significance to komaeda, he just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. komaeda wanted to get the killings started for the sake of seeing hope overcome despair.
ok yeah overall this theory is stupid 👍 it’s not even interesting to explore and takes away lots of the themes and nuances of his character. dr3 isnt a good reference point for komaedas writing either because again we only see small snippets of his hpa life. the story’s focus is not on him, it’s more balanced on class 77b’s school life as a whole

Chiaki to me is kind of an odd character in that I think she actually has good potential, especially in possible interactions with Nagito (seriously, Komanami is probably the ONLY really great Chiaki ship in my eyes). I've seen some great fanfics that play around with her. Especially ones that explore a Despair!Chiaki. But canon just...doesn't really do a great job with her.
In fact I actually find her role kind of detrimental, in that it almost vindicates elements of Nagito's worldview. With her being an angelic embodiment of hope. Which is just...not a very healthy way to present a character in my eyes.
To go back to that stuff about Despair!Chiaki, a really neat interaction that a writer friend is considering implementing into an AU is her and Nagito talking after being rehabilitated. And her admitting that the embodiment of hope he was desperate for was something she could never be. Chiaki says something like "I guess...I'm sorry I could only ever be a girl, Nagito.". To which he responds "...And I'm sorry that wasn't enough for me."
hmm, If I'm very honest I don't ship any mlw ships with Nagito lol! It's mostly because I think the idea of Junko finding a gay man who's lonely, terminally ill, traumatized, and desperate for someone to love him, then exploiting and warping his affection, one of the only things that remains healthy about him, warping it to where he can't understand his own sexuality anymore is pretty brutal. Nagito loving despair is something he can accept, but loving Junko is so fundamentally mind boggling that he goes spiraling when he thinks about it. The idea of Junko convincing a gay man he loves her and robbing an important part of himself from him is super interesting. Also just him never really showing any interest in a woman but showing interest in hajime and Izuru gives that impression. But don't let me discourage you that's just my opinion! His sexuality is not confirmed in any way and that is my interpretation. Just wanted to touch upon that to give insight on what I think just in case it makes me sound too biased at any point in this discussion.
I think making Chiaki real and using her again plot wise to use the same strong suit of her character, empathy, can be seen as a little clumsy. Although I do thoroughly enjoy the fact that Hajime heard her advice but only truly understood it in Danganronpa 2 after she was gone. It's really tragic and I enjoy that Ai Chiaki and Real life Chiaki are indeed different. It's a little indecent but I enjoy the story of the franchise overall.
If I'm honest I think a lot of things about hope's peak in general are detrimental to Nagito because his world view is specifically influenced by Hope's peak. Nagito believes Chiaki is an "embodiment of hope" for the class and likes her status and impact on everyone. Junko sees her the same way and wants to crush that so called hope to create despair for the class! I think that all makes sense and is decently done considering the characters and world. It's important to remember hope is practically absolute good, and Chiaki was just an absolutely good person to the class and when that's lost it creates despair. Even those who she wasn't really That close with, like Nagito, respected her and her impact a lot! Enough to be devastated and have the brainwashing work more.
Chiaki serves a purpose and I think criticism with the fact that she mostly is there to be the support role and impact for everyone else is absolutely valid. My only personal criticism is I'd like to have seen the different ways the class cared for Chiaki, basically just how close each person individually was with her. I'd like to have seen more of their hangouts to know that, but I understand it's an anime recapping a story with limited time. They spend episodes expressing how much they all cared but not how personally close they were, so the fact all of them cared so much isn't entirely sold for a lot of people including me at first. You kind of have to infer a lot which is a little sad? It's for a lack of words a missed opportunity I think.
Fanfics do a really good job at showing those things the anime misses about real life Chiaki, and honestly overall I'd say Chiaki is most often well characterized in fanfics! I think a despair Chiaki is an interesting idea too like you said, you'd have to explain how they became despairs without her though. But fanfics are all about being creative and it's an au in the first place so I'm sure people can figure it out and have fun! All of it is interesting fun ideas and I'm glad you and your writer friend are having fun and enjoy the ship.
I do think the dialogue they've come up with is pretty interesting and a cool approach to an au like that. "...And I'm sorry that wasn't enough for me," feels a little odd for him to say to me at least? I mean, I definitely don't know the direction or the entirety of the work that led to that interaction though of course, and I think it's definitely interesting dialogue, but for Nagito to say that feels a little off for me personally. Like, I think after rehabilitation supposedly it would go something like the Dangan Islands where he learns Hope was inside him all along through spending time with Hajime.
"You provoked the hope that was already inside all of our hearts Chiaki, and for that I am grateful. We all fell to despair, but the hope always wins, Right?" or something like that feels better to me personally but I'm just being silly and don't know the full context anyway
Thank you for your ask, please let me know if I misinterpreted anything you said and didn't respond accordingly, It was nice reading somebody else's take on things and trying to respond with mine as respectfully as I could <3

Anyways, onto the fourth kid:
Tumblr media
Name: Ryo Otori
Age: 13 to 14-years-old
Birthday: September 5, 202X
Height: 157 cm (5 ft 2 in)
Weight: 52 kgs (115 Ibs)
Pronouns: She/Her
Orientation: Asexual Biromantic
Likes: Rock music, spray painting, destruction of some jerk's property, math
Dislikes: Authority, belittling others, not being good enough
Theme Song: Get Well - Icon for Hire
Ryo (meaning excellent; refreshing, cool; distant; fact; reality; dragon) Otori was born and raised in a wealthy but perfectionist family that had survived the Tragedy against all odds. However, that did not mean that they hadn't lost many assets due to the Despairs and criminals stealing and destroying their way of making money. As a result, the latest inheritor and patriarch of the family chose to be ruthless in his pursuit of business and continuing their wealthy life, and his family was not spared from this. His expectations weighed heavily on his daughter, Ryo, having her spend more time studying and trying to gain academic achievements than playing, drilling into her head that her worth is reliant on how skilled and "perfect" she can be. This is the environment Ryo grew up in, and even at a young age she was torn up about this. She wanted nothing more than her parents' approval, but the constant stress of trying to live up to their expectations when she's barely old enough to go to school affected her well-being and ability to even focus on her education in the first place. Her parents did not help her and even punish her for her mediocrity with more studying with tutors and the like. This eventually culminates into Ryo having enough and just running away from her family, hoping that they'll go out of their way to find her and just show her some love for once. Being, like, seven or barely eight-years-old at the time, she...did NOT think through the practical issues of this idea and quickly realizes that she needs food, water, and money to survive. Just trying to toss around her family name wasn't enough as some people either brush her off, or ask her if she's lost and offer to call the police to keep her safe so her parents can come and pick her up. Ryo, in her stubbornness of wanting her parents to do the finding and not show up just because they were called, refuses to take the latter option and just stayed on the street and stealing whatever she could since no one was willing to give her what she needed. Unlike Eiki and Hisano, who spent months on the streets, Ryo only lasted a few weeks when a Remnant of Despair attack happens nearby and she had to seek shelter. You see, while the Tragedy has long since calmed down after many years, there are still those that hold very firmly to Junko Enoshima's Despair ideals but have mostly gone into hiding or were captured, detained, or going through a rehab center, depending on their crimes (if they have any). It's why the Foundations are still active to this day, to make sure there aren't any Despairs around to hurt more people and to act on these kinds of attacks as soon as they possibly happen if they're not tipped off on time. Ryo just so happened to be nearby when one of these go off, but luckily for her, she remained completely unscathed and was never found by a Despair. By the time things had calmed down, Ryo took a risk and came out of her hiding place to see the damage that had been caused. Out of curiosity? Or just plain confusion to a child that has never experienced something like this before? Either way, the destruction and death that Ryo sees before her eyes becomes seared into her memory, horrified that something like this can even happen...and then she hears crying. A crying coming from a baby. Panicked at the thought of a baby, Ryo searched for where it was coming from and eventually finds them underneath a dead woman, protectively shielding the baby with her body but inadvertently crushing them under her dead weight, hence the crying. Ryo pushes the woman, who she assumed was the mother, off of the baby and picks them up, realizing that they seemed to be fine for the most part. The baby, who is probably over a year old, instantly starts to calm down in her arms, holding onto her like she was a lifeline and Ryo tries to wrap the baby up as best she could in her sweater before beelining it out of there. After a few hours past, she eventually realizes that she's hungry, and assumed the baby was, too, and enters a nearby store to get what they need.
This is when Teruya, who had been helping the Foundation out with resources and shelter for citizens inside the Otori Mart after the Despair attack, gets a call from security that there's a child trying to break into the baby formula cabinet that's under lock and key. He goes down there to check what the hell is happening to find Ryo pouting while a security guard is helping her feed the baby with some healthy solid foods as it turned out that the baby is much too old for baby formula now. When Ryo sees Teruya, she immediately assumes that she's in trouble and tries to book it with the baby but Teruya manages to stop and calm her down before anyone could get hurt. He willingly gives her some snacks and water, which was enough to get her to sit down and listen as he asks for her name and such. When he carefully asks if she's seen her parents, Ryo, after spending weeks on the streets struggling to survive and witnessing a horrible event, finally caves in and spills everything: from the way her family treated her to her running away in an attempt to gain any sort of loving attention from them and just trying to survive up to this point. Teruya is, frankly, horrified to find out that her parents had treated her like that at such a young age and says that what they're doing is wrong, but Ryo insists that they must love her, she's their daughter, after all, and they must have come around after realizing she was gone. They're probably looking for her as they speak now! Teruya is hesitant as he knows that that's not always the case, but seeing that Ryo is stubborn and deep in denial, Teruya instead says that he'll look into any missing people forms that have been filed with the Foundations to see if her parents really are looking for her. Ryo brightens up a little bit as she never considered that and thanks Teruya, who tries to temper her expectations as best as he can. In the meantime, he offers to let her stay at his home so she can be safe and be in a place where her parents can find her. She agrees to it but then hesitates when she's reminded of the baby that's clinging to her. Ryo asks if they can take the baby with them and Teruya isn't sure but decides that they will if no one comes up to claim them and verify themselves as their guardian. Ryo, after a bit of complaining, reluctantly agrees and they let everyone in the store know about the baby and wait. By the time the Otori Mart officially closes its doors as a store, no one came up to claim the baby as theirs, and Teruya just takes these kids home with him. Yep, it's Teruya's turn to bring home a pair of sad kids to take care of. At least this time, Teruya gives Mikado a heads up about what he was doing.
So, Ryo ends up staying with the Otori family for the time being, waiting for news about her parents which Mikado and Teruya are strangely hush hush about. Shinra, being a teenager, and Eiki and Hisano, being ten to eleven-years-old, are old enough and experienced enough with a loving family to recognize that something is not right with Ryo's family. But she's very insistent to them that they'll come for her and she'll be loved and happy again. Shinra and Hisano don't really believe that but they have more tact to keep that opinion to themselves, unlike Eiki who questions the lack of freedom her parents give her. They bud heads over this but Shinra stops the argument before it could escalate, saying that he's sure that their dads will figure things out as they look into everything. Regardless of what happens, Ryo should be treated with respect and kindness and they shouldn't argue over what ifs. It's a bit much for their young minds but they make a truce for the time being and go off to play. They tend to bud heads a lot as Ryo is staying with them, while Shinra shows her around and Hisano shows Ryo the books she's been getting into. It's the most fun Ryo has had in a long time and she can't help but feel bad about it cause she knows she should be spending more time studying than goofing around. When Shinra notices how conflicted she feels and asks what's wrong, she hesitantly opens up about how much time she's been spending playing instead of studying but Shinra tells her to not feel bad about it. It's fine to study but if she turns it into something that only ever matters, she'll be missing out on so much more life could offer her like friends and hobbies. Ryo doesn't really understand since her parents made it pretty clear that her achievements are all that mattered but Shinra says that she's more than that, and it's okay to just be herself, even when she's not "perfect." Ryo is uncertain about it but appreciates that he had stopped to listen to her problems. But, eventually, Ryo starts to notice how long it's been taking to just have her parents show up and is on the verge of asking Teruya and Mikado about what's happening...when she gets her answer.
(Note: I do not know enough about the law, so I don't know how feasible this is to real life.)
Ryo was playing in the basement with Hisano and making fun of the "ghosts" she's been trying to contact (much to her displeasure) when they hear the door slam open. Another slam echoed throughout the house and they both flinch but grow curious at what could be wrong. Carefully going up the stairs, they sit by the door and peek through the crack to see Mikado and Teruya fuming in the kitchen. With them unaware of the audience they have nearby, Teruya furiously speaks up about why he's so pissed: not only have Ryo's parents not lift a single finger in trying to find Ryo, who had been missing from their perspective for over a month now, when they finally found them and confronted them about it...they said that they no longer consider a "mediocre runaway" as their daughter and says that if they want to keep her, they'll give away all her papers to them. He has half the mind to charge them for abandonment, only for Mikado to point out that they're technically willing to "give her away," not "abandoning her," their words, not his. So long as they're willing to go through the legal processes of letting someone take Ryo into their family, they'll probably get away with this unscathed, especially if there isn't any concrete evidence of abuse involved. Teruya points out the obvious neglect on their end, especially when it came to letting the authorities know about their missing daughter, but Mikado, who clearly does not trust the law to do it's job when necessary, questions if it'll be enough to stick this onto them. What if they proclaim that they were simply "too busy" to notice and try to play up their innocence on the matter? Or worse, pin it on an innocent staff member for neglecting to inform them about Ryo's missing status when they're so "busy?" Then what? If they don't do this right, this could end up hurting a lot more people, and they may even get away with this. The argument peters out after that, the silence only lasting for a moment before Teruya bangs his head on the table, wondering how the hell people like these have the audacity to become parents. Mikado makes a dry joke and says, "I don't know, ask Void," which gets him a glare from Teruya but keeps his mouth shut since he knows that he had the privilege of having a loving father, even when he lost his mother to childbirth, so he genuinely can't relate to this kind of trauma. Mikado then sighs, saying that he'll call Rei up to help him search for a lawyer, and Teruya wonders out loud how the hell they were going to tell Ryo about this...when she finally makes herself known and the basement door creaks open to reveal both of the girls there. Realizing that she had overheard EVERYTHING, Teruya gets out of his seat and kneels in front of Ryo, scrambling to figure out what to say before settling on asking if she's alright. Ryo...isn't, and asks that what he said isn't true, right? It can't be true, right? Her parents love her...right? Right?!
Teruya hesitates, carefully pulls Ryo into a hug in case she didn't want it, and apologizes. He apologizes that her parents aren't what she thought they were. And then Ryo...lashes out, saying that she doesn't believe it, she doesn't believe her parents would leave her, they would never leave her! She gets out of Teruya's embrace and runs to the guest room, locking herself in there and crying to herself. The family tried to coax her out of there, but she refuses to answer to any of them. The only reason Shinra is even allowed in there is thanks to his teleportation magic, and even then, he recognizes that Ryo needs space and leaves her be, just focusing on taking care of the baby that shares her room as she's become distressed at Ryo's crying. When she finally stops crying, the family do their best to show support for her while they figure out what they can do legally. But despite their best efforts in looking into the parents, they're frustratingly clean when it comes records of any crimes nor do they have any ties in current ones, and there isn't any concrete evidence of abuse they can use against them as they still gave Ryo the basic necessities she needed to live and grow up relatively healthy. They're at least able to stick the neglect charge on them as they never reported her missing but they simply accept the charge, admitting that it was wrong of them to not do more for their missing daughter, and that they'll take any kind of punishment for their "oversight" on the matter so long as it's not jail time. Teruya and Mikado clearly do not believe that they're remorseful about this, but by the time the legal processes are over, the judge proclaims that that the parents will have to pay a fine and nothing more, much to both of their fury and shock (mostly Teruya's, though, since Mikado somewhat expected this). But Teruya has to keep his rage on the downlow as he had to restrain Mikado from straight up killing one of the parents for what he sees as an injustice lest they end up in court for a completely different crime, let alone ruin their chances of taking Ryo in. Since neither of her birth parents contested them on the transfer and adoption of Ryo into their care, all that was left was to get the greenlight from the system on their house and care, and they were able to sign off on the papers. When they go to Ryo to confirm to her that the adoption went through, they try to be very gentle about it even though there was no way to soften the blow that she truly has been abandoned by her parents. With Ryo's fears confirmed true, that her parents truly don't care about her, that they...they see her as a failure, that they would willingly give her up if given a chance, Ryo is crushed. And any sense of love she may have had for her birth parents turns into a burning hatred.
Unlike Shinra, Hisano, and even Eiki, Ryo has a VERY hard time adjusting to the Otori family. Being abandoned by her birth parents was very traumatic for her, and she becomes very closed off and prickly to her new family as a result. The family is doing their best to be patient with Ryo as they understand that this is a hard time for her, and Teruya and Mikado don't force her to call them her dads or anything like that. They simply give her lots of love and support as they try to help her process her trauma with some much needed therapy for everything, including the Despair event she had witnessed. Ryo, however, has formed a coping mechanism that tends to get her into lots of trouble: anger. Anger has become her crutch as she hated the lack of control she had over this entire situation and how apparent it has become that she had been belittled by them when she was still living with them. She's angry that they've hurt and abandoned her for simply being "mediocre" and has started to lash out because it's better than feeling sad. It's better than feeling useless. It's better than feeling like she's worthless. Even if it means lashing out to those closest to her, those that were simply trying to be kind to her, she just doesn't care. Or rather, she doesn't want to care. She doesn't want to get hurt. She doesn't want to open up if it means getting backstabbed by someone she trusted. They're all trying to help her in their own ways, but one day, Eiki tries to close the gap between them by offering up one of his favorite rocks to her as a sign of peace and starting anew. Ryo, however, doesn't exactly understand the significance of Eiki offering a piece from his rock collection to her so early into her addition to the family, and berates him for giving her a useless, dumb rock like this and, before anyone could stop her, she tosses it to the floor and the rock smashes into pieces. Ryo is surprised when it broke so easily but before she could properly process what she just did, Eiki screams and immediately gets physical with her, causing her to fight back. Mikado and Shinra are able to separate the two of them, with Eiki breaking down over losing one of his favorite rocks while Ryo calls him crazy for getting that upset over a rock. Realizing why this had happened, Mikado scolds Ryo and tells her to go to her room, and when she tries to justify herself in that the rock was dumb and getting upset over a few broken pieces is dumb, Mikado shuts it down, saying that just because she's hurting, it does not justify any harm she gives to the rest of the family for simply trying create a bond with her and tells her to go to her room, now. Ryo relents with some big stomping but can't get Eiki's crying out of her head. Even Hisano was glaring at her from across the hall, slamming the door to her room as she clearly did not approve what Ryo did from what she overheard. Ryo spends the rest of the day simmering in her anger in her room while the baby, Moriko, stares at her from inside the playpen. Just looking at her calms her down and she complains to Moriko that it just wasn't fair. None of this was fair. Does she even deserve to stay here? And Moriko...simply reached out and tugged on her sleeve. When Ryo tries to pull away, Moriko only grips her tighter and she sighs, deciding to try and play with her to take her mind off of things. Around dinner time, someone knocks on her door and Ryo tells them to go away, but that someone tells her that her food would get cold if they do that. Realizing it was Teruya and knowing that he'll be very persistent for days on end, Ryo relents and he comes inside to set her food on the desk. He tells her that it's her favorite and Ryo just sinks into the playpen, wishing she can move but Moriko had fallen asleep on top of her and she doesn't want to disturb her sleep. Knowing that she can't escape him now, Teruya sits down and gently asks her what happened. Ryo says that she doesn't want to talk about it and besides, Eiki, Shinra, and Mikado already told him what happened, why does he need to even ask?
"Because I don't know your perspective, Ryo." Teruya crosses his legs together. "And I can't understand your thoughts if you don't tell me."
"Why?" Ryo holds Moriko closer, even as her lips start to quiver. "Why do you want to know?"
"Ryo..." Teruya hesitates but looks directly at her. He puts his hand over his chest. "Even...Even if you don't see me as your dad, even if you can't bring yourself to, you're still our daughter. And I will treat you as one for the rest of our lives. So please, tell me what happened."
Ryo didn't want to tell him.
She really, really didn't.
But the sincerity in his voice, the concern in his brows, the way his eyes shined almost like he was so full of love for her...it just made a crack in her shell.
"...It's stupid. So stupid..." Ryo finally pushes Moriko off of her. She yawns but rolls onto her back, falling back asleep. "I just...I dunno, it's stupid."
"Maybe start with what led to that fight?" Teruya suggests. Ryo inhales harshly but stands up so she can climb out of the playpen.
"Like I said, it's stupid." The girl struggles to get her short legs over the bend but she manages to slide over them before Teruya can offer her some help. Once her feet hit solid ground, she sat back down and crossed her arms. "I wanted to be alone, but Eiki followed after me. He showed me this stupid rock, said that it meant new beginnings or something and I smashed it. Then he got really upset about it and started hitting me so I hit him back and got in trouble for it."
"Oh." Teruya takes a deep breath. "...Yeah, that's nearly one-to-one what Eiki said."
"Then why-"
"Ryo, please let me finish." He runs his fingers through his hair, passing over the ahoge that Ryo thinks is really dumb, even if it's memorable. She frowns at him but shuts up to sulk. But she was still listening as he spoke. "...Trust me when I say that Eiki is in trouble for hitting you. In fact, he'll be grounded for a week and will be doing the dishes the whole time."
"He should be getting something worse!"
"And he was offering you something he considers to be precious." Teruya said in a tone that suggested he will not be budging on this. But he wasn't scolding, either. "Ryo, I know you've only been here for a few months as a part of the family, but you need to know and understand that Eiki was giving you a moonstone from his rock collection. A rock collection the he loves very dearly, and even gave names to. You may consider it dumb, but to Eiki, these rocks are like the world to him. And you just destroyed it right before his eyes. How would you feel if someone you cared about did that to you?"
Ryo tightens her frown but averts her gaze. She knew she was in the wrong. But her unwillingness to say it out loud showed how stubborn she can be, to her own detriment. Teruya exhales, getting up so he bring her plate over to her. It was vegetable curry rice...her favorite.
"Mikado didn't scold you for no reason, Ryo. You're hurting, and we want nothing more than your happiness. But that doesn't give you the right to hurt others, either. So when you're ready to come back down, be sure to apologize to Eiki. Genuinely apologize. No excuses or anything like that. Just apologize and try to make things right with him. Even if he doesn't forgive you right away, it's more important that you hold yourself responsible than to force him to forgive you. As long as you do that, he will forgive you with time." Teruya reaches for her head, but when Ryo leans away, he pulls back. He gives her a small smile and starts to leave. But he pauses at the doorway. "...And just so you know, you are grounded for a week and will be helping me at the Otori Mart. Alright?"
"....fine." Ryo shoves a spoonful of curry into her mouth to prevent herself from saying anything dumb.
"Good. I love you." And Teruya closes the door, leaving Ryo to think to herself.
...Ryo does eventually work up the nerve to apologize, and like Teruya said, Eiki doesn't forgive her for what she did. Just when she starts to get defensive, Hisano steps in and says to Eiki to give Ryo another chance since she's their sister after all, and then says to Ryo that she should give Eiki some time to sort out his feelings. It takes a couple of months, but with a little bit of nudging from Teruya and his family tradition of creating a collage out of things that they break (which is a headcanon that the Mod of ASOOT came up with and it lives rent free in my brain, and I will forever borrow this) and using the remains of the moonstone, Eiki does forgive Ryo and their relationship improves with time.
As of today, Ryo really regrets what she did back then, and even went as far as to buy a new moonstone for Eiki when she saw it in a store. Eiki appreciates it but also reassures her that he had long since forgiven her...plus he still has that collage they made together with the broken moonstone from way back then. Ryo gets very embarrassed and insists he keeps it anyways since she doesn't know what she'd do with it, but he insists that she keeps it, that way they both get a moonstone. She relents but only cause he won't budge otherwise, so now she has the moonstone on her desk. Ryo and Eiki still bud heads a lot to this day, though, constantly getting on each other nerves and arguing over the little things. But God forbid anyone insults or tries to harm the other one, they will team up to hunt them down. They may not get along all the time, but they've learned to respect each others' interests and hobbies. She still struggles with her temper and has become a delinquent over the years, tending to get into fights with others, disturbing the peace, and just not getting along with any authority figures. Ryo's attitude tends to clash with Hisano's, who sticks to the rules and has more respect for society at large. She usually scolds Ryo for her rule breaking while Ryo just kinda tunes her out whenever she does. Teruya and Mikado worry about her delinquency and how that would affect her future, but after Ryo's experience with her birth parents, she kinda dislikes the idea of education altogether. She still goes since it's a requirement and frankly doesn't want Teruya and Mikado to get into trouble just because she chose not to show up. That being said, Ryo and Hisano do get along, as their opinions outside of rules tend to line up more often than not. She'll even join in on Hisano's ghost hunting, although she takes it a lot less seriously than she does and tends to fuck around, much to Hisano's horror. Ryo actually looks up to Shinra quite a bit, and the two of them don't clash as much compared to her relationships with Eiki and Hisano. Shinra tends to encourage her delinquency despite being a golden student himself, and they just go off to fuck around when no one is looking. Ryo feels pretty comfortable around Shinra and tends to confide to him with her problems. His advice may not always be sound, but she appreciates that he lets her vent to him. If there's one relationship she has the least strife with, it's Moriko and man oh man, does she dote on her from hell to back. She loves Moriko, always has the moment she had her in her arms. She spends a lot of time with her, plays with her and takes part in her interests even when she's not interested in it herself. She'd do anything for her, so don't you dare hurt the girl, you're just asking Ryo to break your kneecaps. Ryo has a creative side to her through her spray painting, but she also uses it to vandalize other people's property. Mostly jerks that have pissed her off. But other times she finds a quiet, abandoned spot for her to do some pretty beautiful work when no one is around. It doesn't remain on there forever, but she always takes a picture of them before she leaves. It's both taxing and rewarding for her whenever she finishes a piece. She does music as a hobby and tends to use it as an outlet to her frustrations. Surprisingly, she gets her lessons from Hibiki, whom she crossed paths with hanging out with Setsuka, recognized her through the music Teruya listens to, and proceeded to ask if she could teach her. Although she rarely interacts with Teruya and Mikado due to the events of the Utsuroshima Killing Game, Setsuka does encourage Hibiki to go through with it and the two of them grow close as a result. Ryo is usually taught about singing but sometimes when Hibiki is feeling good, she gets a few pointers on her guitar as well.
Ryo's feelings on Teruya and Mikado are mixed due to her trauma, but she has come around to loving them. Mikado and her tend to clash due to his nagging over her grades and certain choices she's made from her delinquency, which frustrates the hell out of her due to her past even though he's just trying to get her to care about her education on at least a base level. But she tends to follow his advice more often than Teruya's since her moral compass lines up more with his than it does with Teruya. But sometimes she's seen working at the Otori Mart with Teruya. He appreciates the help and sometimes allows her to come into his office to show her how it all works. Ryo is surprisingly attentive as she listens to him and Teruya can tell there's a spark of a merchant in her gaze just waiting to flourish. Not only that, her math skills were really good and it's apparently one of the few classes she doesn't skip on. He's just not sure if it's a good idea to make her his heir due to her background of unrealistic expectations being set upon her. He doesn't want her to stress over something she may not even want nor dredge up old feelings. But after awhile of her being in middle school, Teruya decides to take a chance and carefully broaches the subject, asking if she'd be interested in running the Otori Mart in the future. She doesn't have to if she doesn't want to, of course, she's still young after all, and is allowed to say no or even change her mind. But to his surprise, Ryo looks like she's trying to restrain her excitement as she agrees to it, wanting to know what it's like to run the Otori Mart. Teruya tries not to get too excited and says it'll be just like the times when his dad taught him and promises he'll do his best to teach her. Ryo tells him not to make this embarrassing but he can see a ghost of a smile on her face as they start working together. And while becoming the Otori Mart heir does bring back old habits from when she was living with her birth parents' toxic perfectionism, it also makes her take her possible future a bit more seriously as she eventually starts cleaning up her act and striving for proper (but more achievable) academic goals. She has something to work towards now, something she genuinely wants to do for herself. And hearing that makes...makes her dad happy for her. And that's all she ever really wanted. (Cue Hisano's existential dread as she still hasn't figured out what she wants to do with her life.)
Fun fact: the birth mom Ryo grew up with isn't related to her through blood. She's actually her stepmom and her actual birth mom had long since disappeared from Ryo's life. Ryo doesn't remember her since it had happened when she was still a baby and her birth father remarried pretty quickly. And without Teruya's announcement of naming Ryo as his heir, she may have never reached out to her, leaving her extremely confused, conflicted and angry. But her family, her true family, is there by her side, and will support her regardless of whatever decision she makes...
And now, the final kid:

Moriko (meaning forest; child) Otori was born to a happy couple that loved to travel. The father had lived on the road in an old RV and had met his lover through a sanctuary running a food drive during the Tragedy. He spent time helping out and providing entertainment through his music on the guitar at the sanctuary, the two of them falling in love through their support and work with each other. When the Tragedy started dying down, his lover decides to join him on his travels and they continue to live together happily and content. They eventually have a healthy baby girl, and it seems like they were going to have a happy life. But alas, only a year passes since their daughter was born when tragedy strikes: a Despair attack happens while they were in the city for supplies and the family was split apart. The father had disappeared amongst the chaos and the mother did not survive, trying to protect their daughter with her final breath. The baby was crying out from the stress and danger of the situation, unable to move from her dead mother on top of her. That was when Ryo came out of hiding and picked her up. She instantly latched onto her for the sake of comfort and the two of them stuck together upon meeting Teruya. Teruya calls out for anyone to claim the baby, but when no one came to take her, Teruya chose to take her home with Ryo. While looking into Ryo's parents, Mikado and Teruya also looked into the baby's as well to see if she has any relatives. However, due to the mother being dead and the disappearance of the father, they struggled to find any connections related to her, let alone a single living relative. Even tracing her deceased mother's family tree didn't give them any satisfactory answers as the grandparents has just passed away a few months ago with no other children to know of. After many months, they hit their final dead end, and the court declares the baby up for adoption, which Teruya and Mikado immediately jump to do. Especially since Ryo is clearly still attached to her, even after it became apparent that her birth parents are abandoning her. They didn't have the heart to separate them, and Mikado didn't want Moriko to go through the orphanage system. His experience may not have been the worse beyond neglect and he had only stayed in there for about ten years (due to his own actions cough), but he knew that the system has yet to fix most of it's issues when it comes to how it handles adoption and helping children feel wanted. So they simply signed off on the papers and bring her into the family, keeping her name as Moriko.
Moriko adjusts to living with the Otori family very well, although it's clear that the Despair attack had an effect on her mind. She gets very stressed whenever Teruya or Mikado leave her alone for a minute to take care of something else, watching them as if she's in shock and almost inexpressive. She barely even played with her toys whenever they tried to get her interested in it. Teruya and Mikado sought out help, of course, to try and understand what they can do for her. What seems to work is recognizing the signs of stress in her and reacting as quick as possible to soothe her and feel safe, trying to maintain a routine of being held, sleeping, and feeding, and just spending time with her in their arms. Mikado is usually the one that works at home, so he's usually the one that spends the most time caring for Moriko as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Sometimes when he has to put her down to take care of a chore that requires two hands, he'll ask one of the kids to hold Moriko to help soothe her clinginess. The kids are very willing to dote and care for Moriko, although some may complain when they were in the middle of something else (cough Eiki cough). Still, they're all very protective of her and Teruya likes to take her outside and rock on the porch as a way to spend time with her and soothe her. Eventually, Moriko seems to be recovering very well and her development and growth proceeds at a gradual pace. When Moriko became three-years-old, though, they start to recognize the signs in her body language: she barely gives them eye contact, she no longer has a shocked expression but still lacks expressions in general, and aside from the few times she cried, she hasn't spoken any words at all. Both Teruya and Mikado become very concerned over their daughter's strange behavior and worry that she may still be struggling with her trauma, so they set up an appointment to get a diagnosis. The good news is, it doesn't seem to be related to her trauma. However, they do get a diagnosis that Moriko has autism since these are the earliest signs a child can show at such a young age. Honestly, Teruya and Mikado are just relieved to know that Moriko is more or less healing from the trauma of experiencing a Despair event and losing her mother when she was only a baby. But now that they know that she has autism, they have a better idea of how to approach and support her.
As Moriko grew older, it becomes apparent that she's nonverbal and barely speaks through her mouth, if at all. While Moriko goes to speech therapy, she still does not want to or cannot speak verbally, so the main focus has been to teach her how to use nonverbal communication skills like using gestures and other communication tools like sign language, and recognizing subtle cues and signals. While Moriko is able to understand language even before then, she can have trouble expressing herself or recognizing other people's social cues so it helps that she's being taught other ways to communicate her wants and needs while trying to recognize other peoples' emotions. Moriko doesn't really like being in the spotlight and prefers to spend a lot of her time alone. But whenever she wants to hang out with someone or if someone chooses to hang out with her, she will give them her attention. However, if that person tries to get her to do something she doesn't want to do, she gets very upset and tends to knock them away before huddling up to herself. This gets her very few friends, and while the staff try to be understanding, many kids aren't and either leave her alone, or bully her. She hates it when people treat her differently for simply being herself and just wants to do what's right for her since it gives her comfort. Thankfully, Moriko isn't alone and does have a best friend who comes to her aid whenever she's around and the two of them spend a lot of time playing together and figuring out what they want to do for the day. Her family accepts and loves her for who she is, of course, and are patient with her whenever they have to be more clear on what is happening or what they want with her. Shinra loves showing Moriko his magic, making her little toys in the shape of her favorite animal, ducks, and share similar sandwich snacks with each other, and she loves how safe Shinra makes her feel. Eiki tends to get on her nerves sometimes since he sometimes gets into her personal space without thinking and can be pretty affectionate through touch. However, he does try to respect Moriko's boundaries and is very apologetic whenever he accidentally upsets her. That being said, Moriko loves listening to Eiki infodumb about his interests in rocks and how each one forms, and whenever she's in the mood for one, they both hug each other tightly as the pressure provides a sensory input and that can be calming and comforting to them. Hisano likes to read to Moriko before bed and she loves the ones with birds as protagonists so she usually goes out of her way to find another one like that or rereads the same story. Other times, they simply sit together in silence as they read their own books. But the one that Moriko looks up to the most is Ryo, who is always on her side and showing her support. She follows her around all the time, learning how she acts and sometimes mimicking her cause she thinks she's so cool. Ryo is sometimes concerned whenever she sees this cause she worries that Moriko will land herself into trouble by using her as a role model. But she's also really flattered and does her best to be a good role model...that doesn't take shit from no one. Moriko tends to add fuel to the fire by encouraging her to fight some jerks that demean either one of them. Kinda like this one video at 4:14 (justifiably so, you go, girl). They love each other very much. ^^
Moriko is attached to her dads very much. She's the most comfortable with touch around Mikado and doesn't mind having him in her personal space to the point that she likes to cling to him when he asks if he can touch her shoulder or carefully move her aside. He gave her her favorite toy which is a big duck plushie that she carries around everywhere. It gives her the greatest of joys and she's allowed to carry it around everywhere, although she has to keep it in her locker at school cause it's not allowed in her classroom which makes her really sad. (Rei lets her keep the plushie with her whenever she's tutoring her and it makes her really happy.) But between the two dads, she ends up spending the most time with Teruya and would often sit on his lap to watch him sew his latest fashion project. When she shows interest in trying it out, Teruya starts teaching her, helping her rock back and forth as she happily works on her first ever sewing project. It's not great, but she's happy nonetheless. She also spends some time figuring out how to garden on her own, but she can only do it with gloves cause the dirt underneath the nails annoys her senses a lot and would spend hours washing it out from underneath. While Moriko isn't always understood by her peers, she does grow up into a healthy young woman that has the confidence to be independent on her own thanks to her family and friends' love and support. As a grown up, she does fashion design for costumes and such for theater and films, and is decently popular in her career. And having a more background role in design suits her much better since she prefers making clothes for others than showing them off on herself.
Fun fact: Moriko's father is still alive but had been hospitalized for a long time due to the Despair event. By the time he woke up, he had to get identified due to the loss of his IDs and eventually found out that his lover is dead. He enters a pretty depressive as he had lost someone he loved and while he never gets a confirmation that Moriko is dead, he's pretty sure she is because he had trouble believing that she had survived when she was only a baby. So he just continues his travels on his own, playing his own music but becoming distant from those around him.
And that's all the IRL Sannotori kids! I'm quite happy that I got to talk about them, they're my favorite chaotic family that I've come up with. :]
Also, here's Adult!Moriko's design:

Usually, this isn't a question typically asked, but what is the time difference from your perspective in receiving & replying to these posts compared to us? As for us, it has already been a couple of days. Seemingly, from your perspective, it has been a few minutes, at least for the whole body switching. Could it perhaps fluctuate depending on a set amount of asks? Anyway, enough being a nerd, and here is another question (for all). What's your favorite movie, whether live-action or animated?
Tumblr media
Shuichi:We don't really know, being honest when we started this blog we didn't expect people of other universes to ask us things, so we didn't really know that even time runs different from you guys...or for use to get body swapped.
Tumblr media
Miu:If I had to guess, maybe how many we receive does affect it? I mean this shit is news for us.
Tumblr media
Hajime:But the good thing is this is close to blowing off early and without much trouble for us...which is a plus because things would been hard to explain.
Tumblr media
Natsumi:And thanks Makoto and Despair Bitch for handling things while we were uh...busy.
Tumblr media
Shuichi:And if you're wondering why they aren't here, well they want to take the chance to experience doing...yourself, so sadly they won't be here in person to answer your question.
Tumblr media
Miu:And yeah, don't worry Mr. Magical dragon guy, she is having a taste of the good shit right now. Anyways my favorite movie is...I guess the Equestria Girls franchise as a whole.
Tumblr media
Shuichi:Mine is the Sonic OVA.
Tumblr media
Hajime:Mine is Dragon Ball Super Broly.
Tumblr media
Natsumi:I don't exactly have a favorite, I mean I do watch some Mafia movies for shit and giggles but not exactly favorites...
Tumblr media
I hope a universe doesn't explode because my lackluster answer.
Tumblr media
Miu:And to not leave your answer incomplete we gonna message Makoto and Despair Bitch to ask them...*Messages them*
Tumblr media
...Oh.
Tumblr media
Shuichi:What's wrong?
Tumblr media
Miu:I gotta watch out because Junko is mad at me for interrupting them...
Tumblr media
Natsumi:...Well, it was nice knowing ya.
Tumblr media
Shuichi:...Well, Junko's favourite movie is home alone, while Makoto says he doesn't have an absolute favourite and the answer changes depending of his mood, though he did say he likes Robocop....and he also Hopes a universe doesn't explode for his lack of an actual answer.
Tumblr media
Miu:I just hope to live another day before Despair bitch kills me.
Tumblr media
Shuichi:I don't think she will follow up on that...or at least Makoto won't let her.
*M/A Counter:1*
((Author notes here because I feel leaving this in the tags isn't really appropriate, how much time passes between asks is really up the air and what I think at the time, since I do these without any planning at all, it only ended up being a few hours in universe cause the "Sairuma and Hinatsumi railing each other"...subplot I guess happened, though if someone had asked them a question I would have them answer.
Also if I took a bit too long in answering, it's honestly cause I blanked in terms of what movies would they like, granted Junko has a canon favourite (home alone) and Makoto does mention he likes Robocop but I'm not much of a movie guy, so that's why I took so long))

please don’t shoot me
Ok, I swear someone is going to kill me for making this comparison, but the villains of FNAF and Danganronpa weirdly match up quite a bit. I know it’s just a coincidence, I’m not saying it’s anything more. But I find it absolutely hilarious and I need to share this cursed thought with the world.
Major spoilers for both game series:
Comparisons and reasoning:
Literally every Freddy - Literally every Monokuma
Both are robotic bears that take on a major antagonistic role early on and there is most often one at the centre of everything.
William Afton - Junko Enoshima
Both characters are stated to be geniuses, master manipulators, and the ones behind everything, in similar ways too. William Afton created the animatronics and murders and thus the hauntings, as well as the sister location and thus Baby, as well as being the one to return in some form or level in every game. Junko created what can only be described as Armageddon as well as the killing games, she also causes Monica to become what she did, and although Junko does technically stay dead which we all know William is allergic to doing but she still returns in some way in every sequel if not with literally an AI of herself then at least someone continuing her legacy who wants to be her. And of course, they both died in rather brutal ways, with William being crushed by springlocks and Junko by a trash compactor.
Glitchtrap - AI Junko
Ok this is the main reason I wanted to make this, both William Afton and Junko return digitally in a later game and are the main villain again. William Afton returns by being scanned into a game, Junko returns by having made an AI of herself and having it put in the simulation by Izuru Kamakura.
Circus Baby - Monica Towa
Both characters are the main antagonist of a spin off game with a hit or miss reception. Both have a sort of familial relationship with the larger villain of the main game series with Circus Baby being possessed by Elizabeth and Monica having a sort of sisterly bond with Junko. Both Elizabeth and Monica are the children of abusive families with fathers who just so happen to own a robotics company. Both Circus Baby and Monica are manipulative villains, and by the next appearance they have both have a major personality shift with Scrap Baby liking William Afton now for some reason and Monica giving up on despair because Nagito was so aggressively annoying about hope and despair she couldn’t bring herself to give a fuck anymore.
Vanny - Tsumugi Shirogane
This has a bit less and I’d honestly say I vastly prefer Vanny over Tsumugi because at least Vanny was only disappointing because she was mishandled and could have been the best thing to come to FNAF in years if she wasn’t, while Tsumugi was disappointing because of the twist itself surrounding her being the main antagonist being disappointing. But at the end of the day for one reason or another both characters were a letdown to the fans with their implementation. Both want to continue the legacy of the main villain as an unrelated new one who was affected by them in some way. Both love cosplay, and both games seem to take place in the future. Both were defeated by the building they controlled being destroyed, Vanny with a fire, and Tsumugi with… Keebo blowing the building the hell up.
Glamrock Freddy - Keebo/K1-b0
Both characters are robots in the same game as the previously talked about disappointing villains, both acted as allies to the protagonists, both were the only robots present who were friendly for one reason or another. Also Freddy acts as a performer and presumably sings at Freddy’s, and Keebo dreams of being a pop star.
Basically there’s a lot of things to compare between the two series and I think it’s goddamn hilarious. I may or may not create a joke AU that fuses the two series.

Buckle up yall, I'm going on a rant about how I think Junko got power over each Remnant of Despair (ignoring the canon brainwashing because I hate it, it makes no sense). Warnings for death mentions, different levels of manipulation, and trauma being used against people.
Y'all ready? Okay.
Imposter was a tiny bit difficult, but nothing Junko was unable to control. They probably felt empty and wanted a chance to exist without impersonating someone, so Junko likely just made a promise and used a little bit of sweet talk to trick them into believing that her plans would let them just exist and be able to do what they want. The despair of knowing that you basically don't exist would break them eventually.
Teruteru, simple leverage and threatening, probably blackmail too. Junko likely has ways to look into everyone's pasts and relationships, so she probably dangled the life and prosperity of his mother and the family diner over his head as a way to force him into things. It probably escalated at some point, and ended up just outright becoming what he wanted to do himself. If you put enough pressure on something, it will break eventually.
Mahiru took a little effort maybe, but Satō's death and the guilt of having a bit of involvement in Natsumi's death weighs down on her and thus Junko was able to make her believe it really was all her fault which in turn drove her into despair.
Peko was simple, all she had to do was get Fuyuhiko on their side and Peko would follow. Junko would've probably just killed Fuyuhiko too if he wasn't useful to her, so maybe Junko threatened his life which made Peko desperate to do anything to ensure his safety. Her entire existence revolved around his, and if something happened to her, she would be useless. The thought made her frantic and plung into despair due to that.
Ibuki wasn't difficult due to her IQ. Ibuki wasn't the brightest, but she was useful in some aspects. Junko probably went with either tricking her, or using popularity and relevance as leverage aswell, maybe even using other classmates again. Ibuki got a little anxious, and it spiraled over a long period of it into a state of despair at the constant worry.
Hiyoko took some time, but her own past was in play and used against her. Junko likely promised she'd be able to see the people she loved again and that the pressure from popularity would stop. Hiyoko likely fell apart when she realized she wasn't going to see her only loved ones again, and like the rest broke and fell into despair.
Mikan was one of the easier targets. Her issues with her past and her constant anxiety made it easy to get her to attach to Junko. Mikan was so used to being mistreated that just a slight bit of positive affection or even just a bit of praise got her to follow Junko around and cling to her, she's traumatized and unstable and was easy to control. Even the slightest bit of negativity from Junko after that would cause her to spiral towards despair and make her desperate for the rare positivity.
Nekomaru took effort, but once again it was likely the childhood. Since he was bullied for his name (at least if I recall correctly) she likely used that as a "Don't you want revenge?" tactic. Maybe she used his heart condition too, "you'll only live a certain amount of time, use it for what's really important." He reflected and realized he was doomed to die and his childhood was nothing but pain, so he tripped and smacked into the floor of despair.
Gundham was simple; his loved ones and his childhood made it easy. She could've easily used the Devas against him or even his mother, and probably made comments about his father and the people around him growing up. The Devas were dear to him, so she likely used an anger and desperation tactic and made him feel despair out of worry for them.
Nagito was both easy and difficult. He was so dead set on the fact that Hope was always triumphant, it took a bit more. She probably made him reflect a lot on his childhood, the treatment he faced daily, probably berated him then gave him rare praise, took time to slowly ease him away from his Hope mindset and into Despair. He was a process, but he eventually submerged to Despair when he finally gave up and thought, "What's the point in continuing on if my luck and presence will only torment everyone?"
Akane was yet another game of Childhood Trauma as a weapon. The childhood she faced was rough and she was still not stable from it, Junko probably exposed her to things that reminded her vaguely of her childhood that got progressively more dark as it went on. Junko used the fact that Akane would jump and snap into action as reflex, and she trained her like an animal to pounce at things. Akane slowly drowned in her thoughts of her life and it turned to a despair-ridden rage.
Kazuichi was merely another childhood and peers case. "You'll never be loved by anyone," she said, "You'll never be loved romantically, and probably never were in a platonic or even familial way." She would repeat. She'd break him slowly by using everyone else and probably claimed to be the only one who cared. Kazuichi is highly emotional, and he fell into despair rather easily since he -like most teenage boys- probably cared a lot about how people viewed him.
Fuyuhiko was easy. "You were raised to kill and hurt others mercilessly, do the one thing you're good at." She told him. Natsumi's death, the pressure of his life, whatever traumas he experienced as a kid. They all added up. He knew what he was capable of, and he probably subconsciously wanted to act on it. Put too many things onto one thing and it'll eventually topple over onto that one thing, he was crushed by the weights on his shoulders till it made him drop to one knee in the face of despair herself.
Sonia was quite literally "Aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you wanna just go apeshit?" Her life was dictated by her social standing. Taught from birth to be one way, ignore all interests and indulge in one goal. "You are not a person, you're a leader." Junko would remind her, then claim she was so much more than what she was taught. She grew sad, then angry, then cold and sadistic. Despair made her emotional and irrational, so she acted out of impulse and revenge.
We know Izuru joined Junko just because he was bored and wanted entertainment, but I don't believe it was that simple. He wanted entertainment, yes. He was bored, yes. But that couldn't be all, right? He's strong, mentally and physically, at least he was supposed to be. He was so tired of the calculating life he lived, tired of not knowing who he once was, and tired of how tired he was, and it probably gave him a subconscious sadness. He grieved himself without realizing it, and he was probably not mentally stable due to his existence. Junko took advantage of it. She knew he was bored out of his mind, so she promised him ways to feel something other than empty boredom. "In a world without them, you can do whatever you want. You can find out who you once were, you can watch people act out of Despair and Hope, and you can even watch Despair and Hope battle till only one remains." She'd convince, speaking innocently till she brought him into a sense of false security and then turned it all around and left him to his own devices when she started THH.
Of course, there's also Chisa. She was exposed to the first Mutual Killing Game, and it hurt her emotionally. That couldn't break her though, logically it made no sense for that and the Reserve Boy to be what broke her, and the literal lobotomy didn't make sense. Sure, exposure and warping of the mind works, but Chisa'e actions come from her heart. So I think it'd be more fitting if Junko had used Chisa's loved ones as leverage. Kyosuke, Juzo, class 77, they're all important to her and she loves them dearly in their own separate ways. So Junko probably used all of their wellbeing against her, and she acted out of desperation and panic, cracking and shattering into shards of Despair slowly when Junko would speak.
Then, Chiaki was the cake on top of it all for them. Her death would ruin the tiny hints of sanity they clung to subconsciously, and it'd send waves of Despair through them all at once.
Class 77-B was her perfect target, and Izuru and Ryota were what she needed to help that plan become reality. She used her charms and their weaknesses to her advantage, and they ended up worshipping her as a savior. She "woke them up" in a sense, that's what she told them at least. In the end, she had some victory, but we all know how that played out in the end. Moral of the story, don't be batshit like Junko and try to watch out for people like her!

a surprise. that's the sort of term hajime has learnt to associate with junko enoshima. a surprise visit after the death of his classmate, a surprise perspective on the views he no doubt wishes to ignore, a surprise member of the reserve courses very own christmas party dressed up to the nine's gifting them all with her presence than something physical in turn. he knows better than to rise to the bait she brings, but ultimately he finds himself unable to help himself. soon, as long as things end up going well, he will be on the same level as her, and if he knows what she's up to to begin with, then he's certain he'll be able to put a stop to it. even if that means standing at a not-so-respectable distance beside her, a turning gaze every half second in his dare.
it's only after a few minutes does he realise his mistake. a couple of his classmates looking up with matching smiles he no doubt considers bad news, a gasp of shock from those unapologetically labelling themselves her very own fans. it's mistletoe, comes the belated thought as he manages to turn his stare away, it's mistletoe and it appears the two of them are stuck against it until someone does something to stop it. ( there's no guarantee she will, after all. she might have gotten a completely different idea from the way he finds himself glancing back at her, greens lingering far too long to be passing interest. )
" hey, just tell me if this is too much ..." hajime says, after a couple seconds of contemplative silence. he reaches a hand up, gently, until hes pulling her closer, angling himself so that he catches the corner of her lips in turn. he knows to the others it'll look like more, but even he knows better than to get too dangerous / too close.

This whole party is FUCKING LAME!!! The classroom done up for Christmas, though it's like, all fake snow and perfect everything, because of course it is. They're at the most elite school! Even if they did not qualify as an ultimate! And a fashionista like her didn't show up for no reason behind it. But perhaps she's just looking for an excuse to try to ruin things, because wouldn't that be the best gift of all? A dose of misery and despair to ring in the holidays, especially for those that had spent the most time decorating, and didn't she love the idea of that more than anything? It certainly wasn't because she wanted to spend a few hours with her stupid schoolmates, but she supposed she could deal with it, so long as she sprayed everything down around her with perfume so that their loser's stink didn't get on her.
But what an unexpected development. Who knew that she'd miss out on the view of a sprig of mistletoe hanging from above her head? There's a scowl of DISGUST that crawls over her features, something that drops like a cloud over her expression. Wasn't she just the worst? But like all things, her attitude tended to switch at the drop of a hat, turning to face Hajime with a grin that pulls saccharine and artificial sweet along her lips.
Tumblr media
"Awwww, did you wanna get a little kiss? You'd be soooooo lucky to get something like that from someone like me! After all, how many fanboys get to have their wet dreams verified with the ULTIMATE FASHIONISTA? After all-" he's the one that leaves her a little bit surprised ; his classmates, invisible and forgotten, faceless and boring... but he kisses the corner of her mouth, and Junko, she's not a stranger to affection, but even she's a little confused by the feeling left with this, making a show of spitting and rubbing her mouth. "Eeew, gross! Some fucking normie had the audacity!!! I hate this, screw this stupid party!"

back to the game. i'm sorry i have to stop every two seconds here, there's just a lot to unpack. this is probably gonna be even worse when i talk about ndrv3 tbh.
we cut back to nanami in the void. her sprite is animated this time, the first time we've seen a fully animated sprite in the entire series, which has the odd effect of making her feel Realer here than anyone in either game thus far. she says regardless of what the future is, she'll never disappear as long as they all keep moving towards it. the things that happened here won't be meaningless; if they could live through all this hope and despair, they can surely create a future they want, too. "even if it's a convenient miracle... if you just do it, things will turn out okay!" she says she'll be cheering for them. her tone here is a lot more animated and passionate than typical, sounding more like dr3 nanami than her usual sleepy affect in sdr2.
the screen fades to white and nanami is gone. hinata again realizes a second too late that he forgot to tell her thank you. it's ok dude she already knows you aren't shsl good manners.
when the scene fades back in, we're back to the brutalist trial room they began in and the survivors are all talking about how they can't pick between saving the world or themselves, and would prefer to remain in VR. everyone looks like they've given up. there is no sound, and the timer and life/influence meters are still glitched, but the onscreen prompt tells you to hit "A" to "Awaken" and as you keep pressing A the sound gradually starts to fade back in and the glitching stops (the meters stop fluctuating, and the timer pauses at 59:59:59). you don't have any truth bullets, but eventually after holding A you gain a new one, "Future," which fires on its own and hits every statement in the conversation. when it hits the sole weak point — junko saying a conclusion will never be reached — hinata goes white haired anime boy mode and yells at junko that she's got that wrong. the debate stops.
hinata says their future is uncertain, both hope and despair are going to be involved, but regardless their futures are their futures and he's not going to let anybody take that from them. he's done running away, he's going to fight for his future, for his own sake. junko's so thrown off by this she asks hinata who he is, then questions (seeming quite alarmed here) if she's talking to kamukura. hinata says no, he's not kamukura, he's hinata.
immediately we go into a junko vs. hinata rebuttal showdown where junko again tries convincing hinata to just give up, but we get infinite hits, so it's a cakewalk. right after that we get panic talk action, but it's again easy. i don't even think you can lose health here. junko is an an absolute panic thinking the simulation has glitched and she's now dealing with kamukura rather than hinata.
hinata tells his classmates it's time for them to start the shutdown. they express hesitation, but he says he's not gonna let things end like this. there ought to be more than two possibilities for their future. he says "let's leave this place with confidence, and from there we can just create it on our own. the future that we want!" and then the main danganronpa theme starts playing. i think this must be hinata's Cool Side nanami was talking about earlier... mans is so cool now he made the theme music play... anyway, junko tells him he's hoping for a miracle and that'd be way too convenient if they just got to leave and things worked out alright. hinata counters that this isn't a game, they do have the power to shape their own futures.
junko's still trying to talk the group out of it, saying they'll forget everything if they leave and this decision is basically suicidal, but what hinata's been saying has gotten through to the survivors. they all proceed to give little speeches about why they want to leave now, similar to in 1-6:
sonia basically says (and i'm paraphrasing heavily because she makes this whole thing a lighthouse metaphor, and her phrasing is a little awkward, i figure bc japanese isn't her first language) that even though she doesn't quite get it, hinata's speech just now pulled her out of the hopeless state she was in and she thinks she can see a potential future for the group. there's no way they can't pursue that future.
kuzuryuu says he doesn't know how it'll all play out but (again, reading between the lines a bit, he doesn't explicitly state who he's talking about but it's pretty obvious) he got snapped out of it by thinking about peko, the implication being that if they leave VR he has hope that she and the other "dead" people will wake up.
owari doesn't care much for thinking about complicated stuff like this, but hey, if there's something worth fighting, she's in! it's about confidence, babey!
souda has now been peer pressured into agreeing to the shutdown since everybody else wants to, but he doesn't seem upset about it. he briefly grumbles about this being "annoying" but ultimately seems just as down to leave as the rest of them.
junko (who as you might imagine isn't happy At All) asks how they can "throw [themselves] back into the depths of despair" and hinata says it's because they believe in their futures, and that's what makes them different from her. junko doesn't seem to have any idea what to do with this because it doesn't fit into her binary hope vs. despair framework. she wasn't prepared for hinata making a "we have to try moving forward, regardless of the outcome" argument. unlike naegi, hinata didn't play along with her hope vs. despair stuff. instead he said that whatever's in their future will involve both, and that's fine, they have to try anyway. she doesn't have a counterargument for that.
naegi tries to thank hinata but hinata says "it's not me you should be thanking," no doubt referring to nanami. and with that, the trial's officially over.

is...is Nagito still sans a hand? That reveal about them all being remnants is going to be a doozie for Makoto when it finally happens. And for everyone else.
He still has both hands, because Junko is still alive!
Honestly, I can see the Remnants taking a while to come clean about what they've done. Nagito and Ibuki definitely don't want to dump all that on Makoto (for reasons including but not limited to: he's injured, they're ashamed, Nagito knows that if Makoto knows what really happened he won't listen to him about staying out of it, Ibuki wants to keep the mood light, etc.), but it's probably true for everyone.
When they all wake up, the degree to which their experience of the killing game has distanced them from despair varies from person to person, but they all feel a strong affection and protectiveness for their remaining kouhais. The overall emotional landscape among the Remnants (who, I guess at this point in the timeline, are still just the Ultimate Despair and not the Remnants of Despair) is split between an attitude of "Who cares about the ruined world? I only care about making sure these guys are safe," and an attitude of "I'm deeply ashamed of what I did to ruin the world, and I can't face that shame, so instead I'm going all in on making sure these guys are safe."
As long as Junko herself doesn't rat them out (which she probably wouldn't, unless they're so removed from despair that the secret is no longer useful except as a punishment against them), I can see them all just deciding to sit on the information until either someone feels guilty enough to admit it or Kyoko finds it out herself.
Also, Taka is most likely still alive at this point. He would likely be a late-game survivor in this AU, because being the one to take care of the senpais of the dead means he would have an armful of eyewitnesses to anything anyone does to him. Unless someone is genuinely willing to kill all the senpais in his care or thinks they can hide them, he just isn't a convenient choice of victim. (Not to mention, they're watching his back and can warn him about stuff. Especially Peko and Nekomaru.)
If Taka is alive and mourning a close friend (and we see in canon how grief can destroy him), the normal-sized senpais with their regained memories might try to give him "comfort" by selling him on the virtues of despair. Or just generally, they might try to get the kouhais to succumb to despair without even meaning harm in doing so. Just as an answer to their grief.
All of this to say, YES. When the reveal does come, it will be HUGE.

this blog is the definition of ✨best boys zone✨ can i request for Hajime and Izuru with a s/o who loves attention and physical affection but is too afraid to ask for it?
You get it, anon!! These three are my top favorites of all! Even though 2/3 of these boys are literally the same person, I still love them as an individual (Twin au gang rise up) also I may or may not have a little too much fun on Izuru's part hehe.
Tumblr media
Wonderful sprite edit by u/MidDinos by Reddit
CW: Hajime Hinata, Izuru Kamukura, mentions of Ch/aki N/nami, F/yuhiko K/zuryu, a little bit of swearing (classic baby gangsta), very ambigious spoiler(?) for Hajime’s talent, mentions of non-despair!au J/nko En/shima being Izuru’s bestie
Hajime and Izuru with a affection starved S/O that's afraid to ask them for love
Tumblr media
Oh no, this is bad. Like, really really bad.
This guy is as dense- scratch that, even more denser than a rock, no matter how much you try your best to not be as subtle, he won’t get it.
That one time you actually got courage to tug at his shirt and hold his forearm, he’ll give you a confused look and used his other hand to hold you back. It was a very awkward few hours and the uncomfortable position is not helping either.
Sometimes, in the most rarest occurrences, Hajime, will begin to think that you often brushing your words off and you never initiate any type of affection unless he does it first is quite odd.
When he asks for cuddle (in his own tsundere way), you put so much effort and dedication to it like it’s your job or something but you never ask for it yourself? very weird.
He decided that it is weird for you to act like that, y’know? So he decided to talk to his friend, Chiaki. Maybe she’ll agree with him too? well, he did got his answer but not in a way he expected.
“You only realize now?”  “Huh?”
Was it that obvious? was his other peers talking about him being oblivious actually true..? or.. could Chiaki could be lying about you being a shy cutiepie to cheer him up because of your talent/because you not having a talent will just embarrass you both? probably.
*Insert Chiaki facepalming here*
Maybe if he goes to his other best friend, Fuyuhiko will say something different? they know each other like the back of their hand so maybe he will spit the real deal?
“Hajime, are you fucking stupid or something? Of course they’re too shy to ask you. They’re not even good at hiding it.” ok fine, he’ll admit defeat.
Hajime gulped a little in nervousness before telling that he doesn’t mind at all if you want to be affectionate and even (subtly) tells you that he’s looking forward to holding hands with you too and etc. Though, I recommend you please do show your affection to him so he would not regret this.
He fortunately got to realize your change your behavior. You’re still a little shy but at least you finally got to finally say what you wanted to say for so long.
Tumblr media
Lucky for you, he already knew. He has the ultimate mind reader, ultimate facial expression reader and whatever the hell he has to help him recognize your little struggle.
Izuru wanted to tell you immediately because not only is this a hassle for you but also a hassle for him. He rarely initiates any sort of affection other than mediocre comfort because he's not really knowledgeable on what to do and he's never ever seen couple related activities going on here so... He's clueless despite having vast knowledge.
Also, he's also a very affection starved person as well. Either he doesn't know about it or he's in denial is all up for you to find out, good luck on that.
As soon as he was about to get up from his seat, his quote on quote ‘friend’, Junko Enoshima objected to such ideas, how did she knew his idea? Not sure as well.
She's most definitely was or still is a gyaru, and to be a stereotypical gyaru, she writes corny love stories on her cell phone. She would definitely want to experience or at least view one of her garbage love stories come to life so she commence.. "operation tease a pretend you didn't do anything so s/o will be desperate!!"
"...No."
Welp, there goes Junko's plan gone into useless ashes. He just decided to say the word by calling you to get into his dorm and have a cuddle session while talking about cuddling or general affection.
Man's fully prepared with the blankets, pillows, plushies he got from the gacha machine due to pure luck and the television on just for you, he will never focused for such thing.
As soon as you step foot into his dorm, he immediately pushed you into his bed very softly before plopping himself onto your chest, his hair being an extra blanket for both of you.
"S/O, if you want to touch or want my attention, just ask. There's no one else in the world other than you that I would be giving all my love to as you never bore me. And.. Likewise, I crave for your love." He confessed, not possessing his own words the more he spoke.
Izuru would still prefer it if you asked permission first. Sure, he fully expects your presence and needs but still, he would appreciate it if you asked first.
Hope your luck is high, because even if it's everytime, he would blush a little and sometimes even smile when you talk or touch him, as he loves you dearly.

Hi there Al, may I get some general dating headcanons of your favourites Danganronpa characters?
General dating headcanons!
Characters: Mukuro Ikusaba, Hajime Hinata. Mentions of: Non-despair Junko Enoshima, Chiaki Nanami. Reader: G/N, mute. A/N: Sure thing, Al! Ok, just kidding. Just me messing around in my own inbox. Also... kinda OOC because I don't know what's canon and what's not anymore. Currently listening to: Hey Kids by Molina.
Tumblr media
Mukuro Ikusaba, the Ultimate Soldier, seemed like a cold and reserved person to you the first time you saw her, walking alongside her sister like a bodyguard of some kind.
That didn't change much even after you started dating: always on guard, making sure nothing happens to you when you're together, even if you two are alone.
There are, however, some times when she gets easily flustered, in contrast to that serious personality of her. A blush always appears on her cheeks when you take her hand or kiss her out of nowhere. She tries her best to cover her face with one of her hands afterwards, too stunned to speak coherently.
She's not the best with verbal or physical affection due to her lack of experience, but she truly tries her best.
For some reason, she likes to call you 'puppy'. You always thought it was ironic: a cold-blooded mercenary from Fenrir calling her beloved one 'puppy'.
She's so, so touch starved. When you two are cuddling, she tends to be the big spoon. She has the need to watch over you, so she holds you tightly, making sure she doesn't let you go.
She does the same when you're sleeping together, holding you and keeping you as close as possible. When you wake up and try to leave... you can't. Not because you don't want to, but because she holds you closer when you try to move, even if she's asleep.
One day, she asked you if you could teach her sign language. She thought it would be easier for you if she could understand it instead of making you write down when you wanted to say something.
To your surprise, she learned extremely fast, mostly because she already knew many signs.
She never uses it herself, but there may be times where she signs 'I love you'. You had to admit it: it always makes you blush.
She enjoys the silence in your quiet conversations, only broken by her soft voice. Sometimes, you think it's impossible for someone like her to have a sister as loud as Junko.
Talking about Junko, Mukuro already introduced you to her. Not because she wanted to, but because the Ultimate Fashionista did nothing but insist once she found out her sister had a partner.
"Sooo, is this the person you were talking about, Mukuro? The one you're dating?" Junko said when she saw you, analyzing you without even trying to hide it. "What was their name again?"
"Why don't you ask them yourself?" was Mukuro's answer. "If they want me to tell you something, they'll tell me."
Mukuro's always like that when it comes to you talking to other people. She doesn't want to make you feel as if you couldn't communicate with others by yourself, so she doesn't interfere unless you ask her to.
She takes a notepad and something to write every time she goes somewhere with you, in case you forget yours. She knows that will most likely not happen, but she likes to be prepared.
"I... I love you, [s/o]. I've never felt this way for someone else before. So please... don't leave my side, all right?"
Tumblr media
Just like Mukuro, Hajime doesn't have much experience when it comes to love, so he's kind of confused when he finds himself trying to spend more time with you, blushing and stuttering whenever you're together. He didn't understand why, or better said, he didn't want to admit he was slowly getting feelings for you.
It was Chiaki the one who told him it would be better to confess his feelings than to bottle them up forever.
It should be mentioned that Hajime hadn't told anyone about his crush for you. Chiaki simply knew it all along only by seeing you how nervous he was around you.
As your boyfriend, he tries his best to make sure you're always okay, caring for you and taking you to dates when he has the chance. He tries way too hard. Hajime doesn't want to let you down, as he has felt useless his whole life. He doesn't want you to see him as a useless, talentless person as well.
One day, you hugged him from behind while he was studying, showing him what you had writen on your notepad.
'Hajime, please... don't be so hard on yourself. You may not be an ultimate, but none of them can compare in any way to the person I fell in love with. Don't forget it, okay?'
When he turned back, he saw you signing something. He didn't know sign language, but he could tell what it meant just by looking at your face.
[I love you.]
Since that day, Hajime started to act more like himself and less like the perfect boyfriend prototype.
He's not a big fan of PDA, but he won't complain if you hold his hand while you're walking together.
He likes to call you babe or honey, but nothing too cheesy. At least, not in public.
Even though he doesn't understand sign language, he knows some easy signs you showed to him so you didn't have to wriye everything down. Things such as good morning, thank you, please and sorry, but also I love you, since you used that one pretty often when you were with him.
He drinks a lot of coffee. If you sleep together, you'll probably find a cup of coffee ready for you when you wake up.
The dates he plans are always simple. His favorite place to take you is the park during sunset; calm and peaceful, perfect to enjoy each other's company just the way he wants.
When you're cuddling, he prefers to be the big spoon, even though he will always let you choose. He loves to hold you close as he softly plays with your hair in silence; it gives him a sense of security and helps him calm down.
Sometimes he'll even take your hand and start tracing letters with his finger. At first you thought they were just random letters, but after paying attention, you realized he was spelling actual words such as 'love' or 'sweetheart'.
Expect to receive way more kisses and hugs if you are alone, even if they're quick or small.
"I used to think that having a talent would make me happy, but now... I realized that the only thing I need to be happy is you. Thank you, [s/o]."

Kind is probably a better word than nice.
But I think Junko inspired the Remnants to love her. It's not just that she told them what they wanted to hear. It's that she very clearly and very actively loved each and every one of them.
(And this makes sense within the context of the duology, which asserts in the first book that she has to love the people she hurts because it wouldn't hurt her if she didn't. The more she loves them, the more despair she feels when all the things happen. I think this is supported in the idea of "Junko started planning the Killing Game after Makoto threw her and Mukuro a birthday party" interview thing, but YMMV there.)
And like. I don't think it's a lie that she loved them. I don't think it's a lie when she asserts to Kyoko that she loves her classmates.
It's what she uses that love for that's the crux of it.
Junko creates this group of people who she loves and who love her and who are willing to die for her because no one else cared about them except her. No one could protect them from the clear abuse that they all dealt with. And Junko comes out and does what Hope's Peak should have done and didn't, which is reach into their situations to cause lasting change for each of them. And they become devoted to her because of it.
We see this in UDG, too, to a certain extent with the Warriors of Hope. Junko saw this group of kids about to commit suicide and steps in, stops them, and removes them from the situations of their abuse. She saved them. That is a thing that happened. And then slowly built to maybe other things over the course of etc. (And then Monaca took advantage of their love of Junko for other things. The most baby Junko.)
Like even in DR3, after they've left Monaca, the Warriors of Hope still very clearly have affection for Junko. She's still Big Sis Junko. She might have done some horrible things, but she's still their big sis and they still love her.
I think that pattern should hold true with the Remnants.
Within the context of the fic, I think that's where I'm going to go.
Junko was their friend. Their best friend. She loved them, and they loved her, and she saved them, and they became devoted to her. And when she said the world needed to burn, they believed her. Because Junko can't cause lasting change for everyone in all of their situations. Not everyone will have a Junko.
But they can burn down the systems that took advantage and put them in those situations in the first place.
They can give despair to the people who were hurting them.
Idk - I'm still thinking it through, but I think this fits the scope of what I'm doing with the fic better, even if it isn't, strictly speaking, canon.
See. The thing about choosing not to use the brainwashing in the duology as Junko's mode of getting the Remnants to join her means I have to put something else there. Something that would inspire these people to literally carve up her dead body and transplant physical elements of her into their own bodies.
And here's the thing.
Junko didn't need to brainwash the Reserve Course. She just needed to reveal the truth of their situation to them. (And add a fun little Killing Game involving the fruits of their collected money winning.) She saw the dominoes to set a collective group of people off and flipped the table.
That's what Junko does.
But not every member of Despair is like that. Her Remnants are her closest cohorts. They're hers in a way that none of the others are.
I think maybe she was just nice to them.
