This is Part 2 to my IRL Sannotori fankids. Part 1 can be found here in this reblog.
Anyways, onto the fourth kid:
Tumblr media
Name: Ryo Otori
Age: 13 to 14-years-old
Birthday: September 5, 202X
Height: 157 cm (5 ft 2 in)
Weight: 52 kgs (115 Ibs)
Pronouns: She/Her
Orientation: Asexual Biromantic
Likes: Rock music, spray painting, destruction of some jerk's property, math
Dislikes: Authority, belittling others, not being good enough
Theme Song: Get Well - Icon for Hire
Ryo (meaning excellent; refreshing, cool; distant; fact; reality; dragon) Otori was born and raised in a wealthy but perfectionist family that had survived the Tragedy against all odds. However, that did not mean that they hadn't lost many assets due to the Despairs and criminals stealing and destroying their way of making money. As a result, the latest inheritor and patriarch of the family chose to be ruthless in his pursuit of business and continuing their wealthy life, and his family was not spared from this. His expectations weighed heavily on his daughter, Ryo, having her spend more time studying and trying to gain academic achievements than playing, drilling into her head that her worth is reliant on how skilled and "perfect" she can be. This is the environment Ryo grew up in, and even at a young age she was torn up about this. She wanted nothing more than her parents' approval, but the constant stress of trying to live up to their expectations when she's barely old enough to go to school affected her well-being and ability to even focus on her education in the first place. Her parents did not help her and even punish her for her mediocrity with more studying with tutors and the like. This eventually culminates into Ryo having enough and just running away from her family, hoping that they'll go out of their way to find her and just show her some love for once. Being, like, seven or barely eight-years-old at the time, she...did NOT think through the practical issues of this idea and quickly realizes that she needs food, water, and money to survive. Just trying to toss around her family name wasn't enough as some people either brush her off, or ask her if she's lost and offer to call the police to keep her safe so her parents can come and pick her up. Ryo, in her stubbornness of wanting her parents to do the finding and not show up just because they were called, refuses to take the latter option and just stayed on the street and stealing whatever she could since no one was willing to give her what she needed. Unlike Eiki and Hisano, who spent months on the streets, Ryo only lasted a few weeks when a Remnant of Despair attack happens nearby and she had to seek shelter. You see, while the Tragedy has long since calmed down after many years, there are still those that hold very firmly to Junko Enoshima's Despair ideals but have mostly gone into hiding or were captured, detained, or going through a rehab center, depending on their crimes (if they have any). It's why the Foundations are still active to this day, to make sure there aren't any Despairs around to hurt more people and to act on these kinds of attacks as soon as they possibly happen if they're not tipped off on time. Ryo just so happened to be nearby when one of these go off, but luckily for her, she remained completely unscathed and was never found by a Despair. By the time things had calmed down, Ryo took a risk and came out of her hiding place to see the damage that had been caused. Out of curiosity? Or just plain confusion to a child that has never experienced something like this before? Either way, the destruction and death that Ryo sees before her eyes becomes seared into her memory, horrified that something like this can even happen...and then she hears crying. A crying coming from a baby. Panicked at the thought of a baby, Ryo searched for where it was coming from and eventually finds them underneath a dead woman, protectively shielding the baby with her body but inadvertently crushing them under her dead weight, hence the crying. Ryo pushes the woman, who she assumed was the mother, off of the baby and picks them up, realizing that they seemed to be fine for the most part. The baby, who is probably over a year old, instantly starts to calm down in her arms, holding onto her like she was a lifeline and Ryo tries to wrap the baby up as best she could in her sweater before beelining it out of there. After a few hours past, she eventually realizes that she's hungry, and assumed the baby was, too, and enters a nearby store to get what they need.
This is when Teruya, who had been helping the Foundation out with resources and shelter for citizens inside the Otori Mart after the Despair attack, gets a call from security that there's a child trying to break into the baby formula cabinet that's under lock and key. He goes down there to check what the hell is happening to find Ryo pouting while a security guard is helping her feed the baby with some healthy solid foods as it turned out that the baby is much too old for baby formula now. When Ryo sees Teruya, she immediately assumes that she's in trouble and tries to book it with the baby but Teruya manages to stop and calm her down before anyone could get hurt. He willingly gives her some snacks and water, which was enough to get her to sit down and listen as he asks for her name and such. When he carefully asks if she's seen her parents, Ryo, after spending weeks on the streets struggling to survive and witnessing a horrible event, finally caves in and spills everything: from the way her family treated her to her running away in an attempt to gain any sort of loving attention from them and just trying to survive up to this point. Teruya is, frankly, horrified to find out that her parents had treated her like that at such a young age and says that what they're doing is wrong, but Ryo insists that they must love her, she's their daughter, after all, and they must have come around after realizing she was gone. They're probably looking for her as they speak now! Teruya is hesitant as he knows that that's not always the case, but seeing that Ryo is stubborn and deep in denial, Teruya instead says that he'll look into any missing people forms that have been filed with the Foundations to see if her parents really are looking for her. Ryo brightens up a little bit as she never considered that and thanks Teruya, who tries to temper her expectations as best as he can. In the meantime, he offers to let her stay at his home so she can be safe and be in a place where her parents can find her. She agrees to it but then hesitates when she's reminded of the baby that's clinging to her. Ryo asks if they can take the baby with them and Teruya isn't sure but decides that they will if no one comes up to claim them and verify themselves as their guardian. Ryo, after a bit of complaining, reluctantly agrees and they let everyone in the store know about the baby and wait. By the time the Otori Mart officially closes its doors as a store, no one came up to claim the baby as theirs, and Teruya just takes these kids home with him. Yep, it's Teruya's turn to bring home a pair of sad kids to take care of. At least this time, Teruya gives Mikado a heads up about what he was doing.
So, Ryo ends up staying with the Otori family for the time being, waiting for news about her parents which Mikado and Teruya are strangely hush hush about. Shinra, being a teenager, and Eiki and Hisano, being ten to eleven-years-old, are old enough and experienced enough with a loving family to recognize that something is not right with Ryo's family. But she's very insistent to them that they'll come for her and she'll be loved and happy again. Shinra and Hisano don't really believe that but they have more tact to keep that opinion to themselves, unlike Eiki who questions the lack of freedom her parents give her. They bud heads over this but Shinra stops the argument before it could escalate, saying that he's sure that their dads will figure things out as they look into everything. Regardless of what happens, Ryo should be treated with respect and kindness and they shouldn't argue over what ifs. It's a bit much for their young minds but they make a truce for the time being and go off to play. They tend to bud heads a lot as Ryo is staying with them, while Shinra shows her around and Hisano shows Ryo the books she's been getting into. It's the most fun Ryo has had in a long time and she can't help but feel bad about it cause she knows she should be spending more time studying than goofing around. When Shinra notices how conflicted she feels and asks what's wrong, she hesitantly opens up about how much time she's been spending playing instead of studying but Shinra tells her to not feel bad about it. It's fine to study but if she turns it into something that only ever matters, she'll be missing out on so much more life could offer her like friends and hobbies. Ryo doesn't really understand since her parents made it pretty clear that her achievements are all that mattered but Shinra says that she's more than that, and it's okay to just be herself, even when she's not "perfect." Ryo is uncertain about it but appreciates that he had stopped to listen to her problems. But, eventually, Ryo starts to notice how long it's been taking to just have her parents show up and is on the verge of asking Teruya and Mikado about what's happening...when she gets her answer.
(Note: I do not know enough about the law, so I don't know how feasible this is to real life.)
Ryo was playing in the basement with Hisano and making fun of the "ghosts" she's been trying to contact (much to her displeasure) when they hear the door slam open. Another slam echoed throughout the house and they both flinch but grow curious at what could be wrong. Carefully going up the stairs, they sit by the door and peek through the crack to see Mikado and Teruya fuming in the kitchen. With them unaware of the audience they have nearby, Teruya furiously speaks up about why he's so pissed: not only have Ryo's parents not lift a single finger in trying to find Ryo, who had been missing from their perspective for over a month now, when they finally found them and confronted them about it...they said that they no longer consider a "mediocre runaway" as their daughter and says that if they want to keep her, they'll give away all her papers to them. He has half the mind to charge them for abandonment, only for Mikado to point out that they're technically willing to "give her away," not "abandoning her," their words, not his. So long as they're willing to go through the legal processes of letting someone take Ryo into their family, they'll probably get away with this unscathed, especially if there isn't any concrete evidence of abuse involved. Teruya points out the obvious neglect on their end, especially when it came to letting the authorities know about their missing daughter, but Mikado, who clearly does not trust the law to do it's job when necessary, questions if it'll be enough to stick this onto them. What if they proclaim that they were simply "too busy" to notice and try to play up their innocence on the matter? Or worse, pin it on an innocent staff member for neglecting to inform them about Ryo's missing status when they're so "busy?" Then what? If they don't do this right, this could end up hurting a lot more people, and they may even get away with this. The argument peters out after that, the silence only lasting for a moment before Teruya bangs his head on the table, wondering how the hell people like these have the audacity to become parents. Mikado makes a dry joke and says, "I don't know, ask Void," which gets him a glare from Teruya but keeps his mouth shut since he knows that he had the privilege of having a loving father, even when he lost his mother to childbirth, so he genuinely can't relate to this kind of trauma. Mikado then sighs, saying that he'll call Rei up to help him search for a lawyer, and Teruya wonders out loud how the hell they were going to tell Ryo about this...when she finally makes herself known and the basement door creaks open to reveal both of the girls there. Realizing that she had overheard EVERYTHING, Teruya gets out of his seat and kneels in front of Ryo, scrambling to figure out what to say before settling on asking if she's alright. Ryo...isn't, and asks that what he said isn't true, right? It can't be true, right? Her parents love her...right? Right?!
Teruya hesitates, carefully pulls Ryo into a hug in case she didn't want it, and apologizes. He apologizes that her parents aren't what she thought they were. And then Ryo...lashes out, saying that she doesn't believe it, she doesn't believe her parents would leave her, they would never leave her! She gets out of Teruya's embrace and runs to the guest room, locking herself in there and crying to herself. The family tried to coax her out of there, but she refuses to answer to any of them. The only reason Shinra is even allowed in there is thanks to his teleportation magic, and even then, he recognizes that Ryo needs space and leaves her be, just focusing on taking care of the baby that shares her room as she's become distressed at Ryo's crying. When she finally stops crying, the family do their best to show support for her while they figure out what they can do legally. But despite their best efforts in looking into the parents, they're frustratingly clean when it comes records of any crimes nor do they have any ties in current ones, and there isn't any concrete evidence of abuse they can use against them as they still gave Ryo the basic necessities she needed to live and grow up relatively healthy. They're at least able to stick the neglect charge on them as they never reported her missing but they simply accept the charge, admitting that it was wrong of them to not do more for their missing daughter, and that they'll take any kind of punishment for their "oversight" on the matter so long as it's not jail time. Teruya and Mikado clearly do not believe that they're remorseful about this, but by the time the legal processes are over, the judge proclaims that that the parents will have to pay a fine and nothing more, much to both of their fury and shock (mostly Teruya's, though, since Mikado somewhat expected this). But Teruya has to keep his rage on the downlow as he had to restrain Mikado from straight up killing one of the parents for what he sees as an injustice lest they end up in court for a completely different crime, let alone ruin their chances of taking Ryo in. Since neither of her birth parents contested them on the transfer and adoption of Ryo into their care, all that was left was to get the greenlight from the system on their house and care, and they were able to sign off on the papers. When they go to Ryo to confirm to her that the adoption went through, they try to be very gentle about it even though there was no way to soften the blow that she truly has been abandoned by her parents. With Ryo's fears confirmed true, that her parents truly don't care about her, that they...they see her as a failure, that they would willingly give her up if given a chance, Ryo is crushed. And any sense of love she may have had for her birth parents turns into a burning hatred.
Unlike Shinra, Hisano, and even Eiki, Ryo has a VERY hard time adjusting to the Otori family. Being abandoned by her birth parents was very traumatic for her, and she becomes very closed off and prickly to her new family as a result. The family is doing their best to be patient with Ryo as they understand that this is a hard time for her, and Teruya and Mikado don't force her to call them her dads or anything like that. They simply give her lots of love and support as they try to help her process her trauma with some much needed therapy for everything, including the Despair event she had witnessed. Ryo, however, has formed a coping mechanism that tends to get her into lots of trouble: anger. Anger has become her crutch as she hated the lack of control she had over this entire situation and how apparent it has become that she had been belittled by them when she was still living with them. She's angry that they've hurt and abandoned her for simply being "mediocre" and has started to lash out because it's better than feeling sad. It's better than feeling useless. It's better than feeling like she's worthless. Even if it means lashing out to those closest to her, those that were simply trying to be kind to her, she just doesn't care. Or rather, she doesn't want to care. She doesn't want to get hurt. She doesn't want to open up if it means getting backstabbed by someone she trusted. They're all trying to help her in their own ways, but one day, Eiki tries to close the gap between them by offering up one of his favorite rocks to her as a sign of peace and starting anew. Ryo, however, doesn't exactly understand the significance of Eiki offering a piece from his rock collection to her so early into her addition to the family, and berates him for giving her a useless, dumb rock like this and, before anyone could stop her, she tosses it to the floor and the rock smashes into pieces. Ryo is surprised when it broke so easily but before she could properly process what she just did, Eiki screams and immediately gets physical with her, causing her to fight back. Mikado and Shinra are able to separate the two of them, with Eiki breaking down over losing one of his favorite rocks while Ryo calls him crazy for getting that upset over a rock. Realizing why this had happened, Mikado scolds Ryo and tells her to go to her room, and when she tries to justify herself in that the rock was dumb and getting upset over a few broken pieces is dumb, Mikado shuts it down, saying that just because she's hurting, it does not justify any harm she gives to the rest of the family for simply trying create a bond with her and tells her to go to her room, now. Ryo relents with some big stomping but can't get Eiki's crying out of her head. Even Hisano was glaring at her from across the hall, slamming the door to her room as she clearly did not approve what Ryo did from what she overheard. Ryo spends the rest of the day simmering in her anger in her room while the baby, Moriko, stares at her from inside the playpen. Just looking at her calms her down and she complains to Moriko that it just wasn't fair. None of this was fair. Does she even deserve to stay here? And Moriko...simply reached out and tugged on her sleeve. When Ryo tries to pull away, Moriko only grips her tighter and she sighs, deciding to try and play with her to take her mind off of things. Around dinner time, someone knocks on her door and Ryo tells them to go away, but that someone tells her that her food would get cold if they do that. Realizing it was Teruya and knowing that he'll be very persistent for days on end, Ryo relents and he comes inside to set her food on the desk. He tells her that it's her favorite and Ryo just sinks into the playpen, wishing she can move but Moriko had fallen asleep on top of her and she doesn't want to disturb her sleep. Knowing that she can't escape him now, Teruya sits down and gently asks her what happened. Ryo says that she doesn't want to talk about it and besides, Eiki, Shinra, and Mikado already told him what happened, why does he need to even ask?
"Because I don't know your perspective, Ryo." Teruya crosses his legs together. "And I can't understand your thoughts if you don't tell me."
"Why?" Ryo holds Moriko closer, even as her lips start to quiver. "Why do you want to know?"
"Ryo..." Teruya hesitates but looks directly at her. He puts his hand over his chest. "Even...Even if you don't see me as your dad, even if you can't bring yourself to, you're still our daughter. And I will treat you as one for the rest of our lives. So please, tell me what happened."
Ryo didn't want to tell him.
She really, really didn't.
But the sincerity in his voice, the concern in his brows, the way his eyes shined almost like he was so full of love for her...it just made a crack in her shell.
"...It's stupid. So stupid..." Ryo finally pushes Moriko off of her. She yawns but rolls onto her back, falling back asleep. "I just...I dunno, it's stupid."
"Maybe start with what led to that fight?" Teruya suggests. Ryo inhales harshly but stands up so she can climb out of the playpen.
"Like I said, it's stupid." The girl struggles to get her short legs over the bend but she manages to slide over them before Teruya can offer her some help. Once her feet hit solid ground, she sat back down and crossed her arms. "I wanted to be alone, but Eiki followed after me. He showed me this stupid rock, said that it meant new beginnings or something and I smashed it. Then he got really upset about it and started hitting me so I hit him back and got in trouble for it."
"Oh." Teruya takes a deep breath. "...Yeah, that's nearly one-to-one what Eiki said."
"Then why-"
"Ryo, please let me finish." He runs his fingers through his hair, passing over the ahoge that Ryo thinks is really dumb, even if it's memorable. She frowns at him but shuts up to sulk. But she was still listening as he spoke. "...Trust me when I say that Eiki is in trouble for hitting you. In fact, he'll be grounded for a week and will be doing the dishes the whole time."
"He should be getting something worse!"
"And he was offering you something he considers to be precious." Teruya said in a tone that suggested he will not be budging on this. But he wasn't scolding, either. "Ryo, I know you've only been here for a few months as a part of the family, but you need to know and understand that Eiki was giving you a moonstone from his rock collection. A rock collection the he loves very dearly, and even gave names to. You may consider it dumb, but to Eiki, these rocks are like the world to him. And you just destroyed it right before his eyes. How would you feel if someone you cared about did that to you?"
Ryo tightens her frown but averts her gaze. She knew she was in the wrong. But her unwillingness to say it out loud showed how stubborn she can be, to her own detriment. Teruya exhales, getting up so he bring her plate over to her. It was vegetable curry rice...her favorite.
"Mikado didn't scold you for no reason, Ryo. You're hurting, and we want nothing more than your happiness. But that doesn't give you the right to hurt others, either. So when you're ready to come back down, be sure to apologize to Eiki. Genuinely apologize. No excuses or anything like that. Just apologize and try to make things right with him. Even if he doesn't forgive you right away, it's more important that you hold yourself responsible than to force him to forgive you. As long as you do that, he will forgive you with time." Teruya reaches for her head, but when Ryo leans away, he pulls back. He gives her a small smile and starts to leave. But he pauses at the doorway. "...And just so you know, you are grounded for a week and will be helping me at the Otori Mart. Alright?"
"....fine." Ryo shoves a spoonful of curry into her mouth to prevent herself from saying anything dumb.
"Good. I love you." And Teruya closes the door, leaving Ryo to think to herself.
...Ryo does eventually work up the nerve to apologize, and like Teruya said, Eiki doesn't forgive her for what she did. Just when she starts to get defensive, Hisano steps in and says to Eiki to give Ryo another chance since she's their sister after all, and then says to Ryo that she should give Eiki some time to sort out his feelings. It takes a couple of months, but with a little bit of nudging from Teruya and his family tradition of creating a collage out of things that they break (which is a headcanon that the Mod of ASOOT came up with and it lives rent free in my brain, and I will forever borrow this) and using the remains of the moonstone, Eiki does forgive Ryo and their relationship improves with time.
As of today, Ryo really regrets what she did back then, and even went as far as to buy a new moonstone for Eiki when she saw it in a store. Eiki appreciates it but also reassures her that he had long since forgiven her...plus he still has that collage they made together with the broken moonstone from way back then. Ryo gets very embarrassed and insists he keeps it anyways since she doesn't know what she'd do with it, but he insists that she keeps it, that way they both get a moonstone. She relents but only cause he won't budge otherwise, so now she has the moonstone on her desk. Ryo and Eiki still bud heads a lot to this day, though, constantly getting on each other nerves and arguing over the little things. But God forbid anyone insults or tries to harm the other one, they will team up to hunt them down. They may not get along all the time, but they've learned to respect each others' interests and hobbies. She still struggles with her temper and has become a delinquent over the years, tending to get into fights with others, disturbing the peace, and just not getting along with any authority figures. Ryo's attitude tends to clash with Hisano's, who sticks to the rules and has more respect for society at large. She usually scolds Ryo for her rule breaking while Ryo just kinda tunes her out whenever she does. Teruya and Mikado worry about her delinquency and how that would affect her future, but after Ryo's experience with her birth parents, she kinda dislikes the idea of education altogether. She still goes since it's a requirement and frankly doesn't want Teruya and Mikado to get into trouble just because she chose not to show up. That being said, Ryo and Hisano do get along, as their opinions outside of rules tend to line up more often than not. She'll even join in on Hisano's ghost hunting, although she takes it a lot less seriously than she does and tends to fuck around, much to Hisano's horror. Ryo actually looks up to Shinra quite a bit, and the two of them don't clash as much compared to her relationships with Eiki and Hisano. Shinra tends to encourage her delinquency despite being a golden student himself, and they just go off to fuck around when no one is looking. Ryo feels pretty comfortable around Shinra and tends to confide to him with her problems. His advice may not always be sound, but she appreciates that he lets her vent to him. If there's one relationship she has the least strife with, it's Moriko and man oh man, does she dote on her from hell to back. She loves Moriko, always has the moment she had her in her arms. She spends a lot of time with her, plays with her and takes part in her interests even when she's not interested in it herself. She'd do anything for her, so don't you dare hurt the girl, you're just asking Ryo to break your kneecaps. Ryo has a creative side to her through her spray painting, but she also uses it to vandalize other people's property. Mostly jerks that have pissed her off. But other times she finds a quiet, abandoned spot for her to do some pretty beautiful work when no one is around. It doesn't remain on there forever, but she always takes a picture of them before she leaves. It's both taxing and rewarding for her whenever she finishes a piece. She does music as a hobby and tends to use it as an outlet to her frustrations. Surprisingly, she gets her lessons from Hibiki, whom she crossed paths with hanging out with Setsuka, recognized her through the music Teruya listens to, and proceeded to ask if she could teach her. Although she rarely interacts with Teruya and Mikado due to the events of the Utsuroshima Killing Game, Setsuka does encourage Hibiki to go through with it and the two of them grow close as a result. Ryo is usually taught about singing but sometimes when Hibiki is feeling good, she gets a few pointers on her guitar as well.
Ryo's feelings on Teruya and Mikado are mixed due to her trauma, but she has come around to loving them. Mikado and her tend to clash due to his nagging over her grades and certain choices she's made from her delinquency, which frustrates the hell out of her due to her past even though he's just trying to get her to care about her education on at least a base level. But she tends to follow his advice more often than Teruya's since her moral compass lines up more with his than it does with Teruya. But sometimes she's seen working at the Otori Mart with Teruya. He appreciates the help and sometimes allows her to come into his office to show her how it all works. Ryo is surprisingly attentive as she listens to him and Teruya can tell there's a spark of a merchant in her gaze just waiting to flourish. Not only that, her math skills were really good and it's apparently one of the few classes she doesn't skip on. He's just not sure if it's a good idea to make her his heir due to her background of unrealistic expectations being set upon her. He doesn't want her to stress over something she may not even want nor dredge up old feelings. But after awhile of her being in middle school, Teruya decides to take a chance and carefully broaches the subject, asking if she'd be interested in running the Otori Mart in the future. She doesn't have to if she doesn't want to, of course, she's still young after all, and is allowed to say no or even change her mind. But to his surprise, Ryo looks like she's trying to restrain her excitement as she agrees to it, wanting to know what it's like to run the Otori Mart. Teruya tries not to get too excited and says it'll be just like the times when his dad taught him and promises he'll do his best to teach her. Ryo tells him not to make this embarrassing but he can see a ghost of a smile on her face as they start working together. And while becoming the Otori Mart heir does bring back old habits from when she was living with her birth parents' toxic perfectionism, it also makes her take her possible future a bit more seriously as she eventually starts cleaning up her act and striving for proper (but more achievable) academic goals. She has something to work towards now, something she genuinely wants to do for herself. And hearing that makes...makes her dad happy for her. And that's all she ever really wanted. (Cue Hisano's existential dread as she still hasn't figured out what she wants to do with her life.)
Fun fact: the birth mom Ryo grew up with isn't related to her through blood. She's actually her stepmom and her actual birth mom had long since disappeared from Ryo's life. Ryo doesn't remember her since it had happened when she was still a baby and her birth father remarried pretty quickly. And without Teruya's announcement of naming Ryo as his heir, she may have never reached out to her, leaving her extremely confused, conflicted and angry. But her family, her true family, is there by her side, and will support her regardless of whatever decision she makes...
And now, the final kid:

Moriko (meaning forest; child) Otori was born to a happy couple that loved to travel. The father had lived on the road in an old RV and had met his lover through a sanctuary running a food drive during the Tragedy. He spent time helping out and providing entertainment through his music on the guitar at the sanctuary, the two of them falling in love through their support and work with each other. When the Tragedy started dying down, his lover decides to join him on his travels and they continue to live together happily and content. They eventually have a healthy baby girl, and it seems like they were going to have a happy life. But alas, only a year passes since their daughter was born when tragedy strikes: a Despair attack happens while they were in the city for supplies and the family was split apart. The father had disappeared amongst the chaos and the mother did not survive, trying to protect their daughter with her final breath. The baby was crying out from the stress and danger of the situation, unable to move from her dead mother on top of her. That was when Ryo came out of hiding and picked her up. She instantly latched onto her for the sake of comfort and the two of them stuck together upon meeting Teruya. Teruya calls out for anyone to claim the baby, but when no one came to take her, Teruya chose to take her home with Ryo. While looking into Ryo's parents, Mikado and Teruya also looked into the baby's as well to see if she has any relatives. However, due to the mother being dead and the disappearance of the father, they struggled to find any connections related to her, let alone a single living relative. Even tracing her deceased mother's family tree didn't give them any satisfactory answers as the grandparents has just passed away a few months ago with no other children to know of. After many months, they hit their final dead end, and the court declares the baby up for adoption, which Teruya and Mikado immediately jump to do. Especially since Ryo is clearly still attached to her, even after it became apparent that her birth parents are abandoning her. They didn't have the heart to separate them, and Mikado didn't want Moriko to go through the orphanage system. His experience may not have been the worse beyond neglect and he had only stayed in there for about ten years (due to his own actions cough), but he knew that the system has yet to fix most of it's issues when it comes to how it handles adoption and helping children feel wanted. So they simply signed off on the papers and bring her into the family, keeping her name as Moriko.
Moriko adjusts to living with the Otori family very well, although it's clear that the Despair attack had an effect on her mind. She gets very stressed whenever Teruya or Mikado leave her alone for a minute to take care of something else, watching them as if she's in shock and almost inexpressive. She barely even played with her toys whenever they tried to get her interested in it. Teruya and Mikado sought out help, of course, to try and understand what they can do for her. What seems to work is recognizing the signs of stress in her and reacting as quick as possible to soothe her and feel safe, trying to maintain a routine of being held, sleeping, and feeding, and just spending time with her in their arms. Mikado is usually the one that works at home, so he's usually the one that spends the most time caring for Moriko as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Sometimes when he has to put her down to take care of a chore that requires two hands, he'll ask one of the kids to hold Moriko to help soothe her clinginess. The kids are very willing to dote and care for Moriko, although some may complain when they were in the middle of something else (cough Eiki cough). Still, they're all very protective of her and Teruya likes to take her outside and rock on the porch as a way to spend time with her and soothe her. Eventually, Moriko seems to be recovering very well and her development and growth proceeds at a gradual pace. When Moriko became three-years-old, though, they start to recognize the signs in her body language: she barely gives them eye contact, she no longer has a shocked expression but still lacks expressions in general, and aside from the few times she cried, she hasn't spoken any words at all. Both Teruya and Mikado become very concerned over their daughter's strange behavior and worry that she may still be struggling with her trauma, so they set up an appointment to get a diagnosis. The good news is, it doesn't seem to be related to her trauma. However, they do get a diagnosis that Moriko has autism since these are the earliest signs a child can show at such a young age. Honestly, Teruya and Mikado are just relieved to know that Moriko is more or less healing from the trauma of experiencing a Despair event and losing her mother when she was only a baby. But now that they know that she has autism, they have a better idea of how to approach and support her.
As Moriko grew older, it becomes apparent that she's nonverbal and barely speaks through her mouth, if at all. While Moriko goes to speech therapy, she still does not want to or cannot speak verbally, so the main focus has been to teach her how to use nonverbal communication skills like using gestures and other communication tools like sign language, and recognizing subtle cues and signals. While Moriko is able to understand language even before then, she can have trouble expressing herself or recognizing other people's social cues so it helps that she's being taught other ways to communicate her wants and needs while trying to recognize other peoples' emotions. Moriko doesn't really like being in the spotlight and prefers to spend a lot of her time alone. But whenever she wants to hang out with someone or if someone chooses to hang out with her, she will give them her attention. However, if that person tries to get her to do something she doesn't want to do, she gets very upset and tends to knock them away before huddling up to herself. This gets her very few friends, and while the staff try to be understanding, many kids aren't and either leave her alone, or bully her. She hates it when people treat her differently for simply being herself and just wants to do what's right for her since it gives her comfort. Thankfully, Moriko isn't alone and does have a best friend who comes to her aid whenever she's around and the two of them spend a lot of time playing together and figuring out what they want to do for the day. Her family accepts and loves her for who she is, of course, and are patient with her whenever they have to be more clear on what is happening or what they want with her. Shinra loves showing Moriko his magic, making her little toys in the shape of her favorite animal, ducks, and share similar sandwich snacks with each other, and she loves how safe Shinra makes her feel. Eiki tends to get on her nerves sometimes since he sometimes gets into her personal space without thinking and can be pretty affectionate through touch. However, he does try to respect Moriko's boundaries and is very apologetic whenever he accidentally upsets her. That being said, Moriko loves listening to Eiki infodumb about his interests in rocks and how each one forms, and whenever she's in the mood for one, they both hug each other tightly as the pressure provides a sensory input and that can be calming and comforting to them. Hisano likes to read to Moriko before bed and she loves the ones with birds as protagonists so she usually goes out of her way to find another one like that or rereads the same story. Other times, they simply sit together in silence as they read their own books. But the one that Moriko looks up to the most is Ryo, who is always on her side and showing her support. She follows her around all the time, learning how she acts and sometimes mimicking her cause she thinks she's so cool. Ryo is sometimes concerned whenever she sees this cause she worries that Moriko will land herself into trouble by using her as a role model. But she's also really flattered and does her best to be a good role model...that doesn't take shit from no one. Moriko tends to add fuel to the fire by encouraging her to fight some jerks that demean either one of them. Kinda like this one video at 4:14 (justifiably so, you go, girl). They love each other very much. ^^
Moriko is attached to her dads very much. She's the most comfortable with touch around Mikado and doesn't mind having him in her personal space to the point that she likes to cling to him when he asks if he can touch her shoulder or carefully move her aside. He gave her her favorite toy which is a big duck plushie that she carries around everywhere. It gives her the greatest of joys and she's allowed to carry it around everywhere, although she has to keep it in her locker at school cause it's not allowed in her classroom which makes her really sad. (Rei lets her keep the plushie with her whenever she's tutoring her and it makes her really happy.) But between the two dads, she ends up spending the most time with Teruya and would often sit on his lap to watch him sew his latest fashion project. When she shows interest in trying it out, Teruya starts teaching her, helping her rock back and forth as she happily works on her first ever sewing project. It's not great, but she's happy nonetheless. She also spends some time figuring out how to garden on her own, but she can only do it with gloves cause the dirt underneath the nails annoys her senses a lot and would spend hours washing it out from underneath. While Moriko isn't always understood by her peers, she does grow up into a healthy young woman that has the confidence to be independent on her own thanks to her family and friends' love and support. As a grown up, she does fashion design for costumes and such for theater and films, and is decently popular in her career. And having a more background role in design suits her much better since she prefers making clothes for others than showing them off on herself.
Fun fact: Moriko's father is still alive but had been hospitalized for a long time due to the Despair event. By the time he woke up, he had to get identified due to the loss of his IDs and eventually found out that his lover is dead. He enters a pretty depressive as he had lost someone he loved and while he never gets a confirmation that Moriko is dead, he's pretty sure she is because he had trouble believing that she had survived when she was only a baby. So he just continues his travels on his own, playing his own music but becoming distant from those around him.
And that's all the IRL Sannotori kids! I'm quite happy that I got to talk about them, they're my favorite chaotic family that I've come up with. :]
Also, here's Adult!Moriko's design:

Since you're okay with me reblogging this with my fankids... *rubs my little hands together*
I'm gonna stick to my IRL Sannotori fankids for this post since they're the ones I've developed the most out of all of the fankids I made. I really hope you don't mind that I'm gonna be talking about this ship and these fankids I made for it. ^^;;;
(I actually drew them before in another post. It's not a great scan of the drawing, especially since I used my phone, but it's definitely one of the best art I've made.)
For context on what kind of timeline they live in:
It's still the Tragedy timeline.
IRLkado survives Syobai's murder attempt but gets captured by the Kisaragi Foundation.
He's forced to work for the Foundation when it quickly became obvious that there's two Mikado Sannojis around and Kinjo decided he could be useful as a tool due to his obvious connection to the other one and lets him live instead.
He meets, and eventually lives with, Teruya after it became obvious that he hasn't been treated well in his cell and that's hurting the quality of his work (and his health) so Teruya stepped in to help
They have their enemies to friends to lovers arc combined with the "and they were roommates-" meme and just keeping it a secret from everyone else.
(Rei eventually finds out about it, Kinjo does not until the very last minute before the trio's falling out)
IRLkado finds out about AIkado's betrayal through hiring the very hitman that tried to kill him and immediately decides he wants revenge, even at the cost of ruining his plan in reviving Utsuro.
I hit IRLkado with the Therapy beam and a Redemption Arc, and he starts to really dedicate himself to being a better person even when he knows there are a lot of things he can't undo. He knows he won't ever be forgiven for his crimes but he still chooses to work hard to right his wrongs.
The Utsuroshima Killing Game still happens but everyone lives (ironically thanks to IRLkado saving and reuploading backups of their avatars into their brain with a bit of luck, hint, hint). Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do for Yuki, so Sora still had to give up "her" body for him to survive and live a new life.
Sora is alive, IRLkado and Rei just needed to transfer her out of what remained of the Neo World Program before they physically destroy it for good. She now lives with Yoruko and eventually gets her own robot body.
Teruya finds out that Kinjo tried to sacrifice both he and Rei behind their backs and any trust and respect he's had for him up to this point shatters and he just cuts ties with him. Meanwhile, his friendship with Rei becomes stronger to the point that she decides to accept Teruya's relationship with IRLkado (although she still thinks he can do way better than him but this is the hill Teruya's going to die on it seems).
Void gets arrested and go to trial and most of them accept their punishment in exchange for lighter sentences and just begging for a chance of reformation by working for one of the Foundations (Nikei needed a bit of convincing while Iroha had long since escaped with Syobai so she's just digging a deeper hole for herself - otherwise, Void do get to go back to semi-normal lives after they've served their sentences/proved they're not going to do something like this again but had to go through a lot of changes due to their own actions).
Idk how feasible this is to real life, but IRLkado actually gets a better sentence than the rest of Void simply because he's already proven to be mostly (if not completely) reformed by working for the Kisaragi Foundation and the missions he was allowed to go on and because most of the crimes "Mikado Sannoji" did was AIkado's so aside from burning down the orphanage and other past crimes he most likely had been up to in pursuit of Utsuro in the past, he becomes a free man with enough time and effort (to everyone's, mostly Kinjo's and Nikei's, shock).
Kokoro also goes on trial for being an accomplice but she just accepts her punishment for her role in the whole thing and is locked away for both current and past crimes.
IRLkado and Teruya move out of the Kisaragi Foundation and while IRLkado is still working for the Foundation to continue righting his wrongs, Teruya starts rebuilding the Otori Mart, although he has to rebrand it in an uphill battle thanks to his father using their money to support the Despairs but he mostly succeeds. And, after a couple of years with the Tragedy fading and becoming more peaceful over time, Teruya retires from the foundation so he could focus more on the Otori Mart and his growing family.
Which we will FINALLY talk about. Sorry, I just needed to get this setup and context out the way first since this is the timeline these fankids are specifically in, and trying to summarize this without bogging it down with TOO much detail was a bit difficult. But now that that's done, let's start with the oldest IRL Sannotori fankid:
Tumblr media
Name: Shinra Otori
Age: 21-years-old
Birthday: October 31st, 201X/202X (adoption date - it's unknown what his real birth date is)
Height: 180 cm (5 ft 11 in)
Weight: 72 kgs (160.7 Ibs)
Pronouns: He/Him
Orientation: AroAce
Likes: His family, studying magic, mischief, taking apart and building clockwork (horology)
Dislikes: Threats to his family, bullies and abusers, live experimentation
Theme Song: Used to the Darkness - Des Rocks
Shinra Otori was born without a name, as the people who made him saw him nothing more than a vessel. A vessel for what they believe to be actual magic. However, they had bitten off more than they can chew, and the child had snapped with a powerful blast of magic, running away from the people who had hurt him. When he had lost his energy, he fell into a ditch and laid there in the rain, waiting for Fate to take it's course. A Fate which quickly turned to Fortune as the real Mikado Sannoji just so happened to be passing by. On a whim, he takes him home, spending days earning the child's trust as he gives him food, clothes, and shelter. By the time Teruya Otori came home from a two-week visit and preparation for a funeral, he sees his boyfriend holding a child close to him and wondering, "What the fuck happened while I was gone??" Not that he would ever get rid of the child that has somehow made his way into their life. They would spend months helping him get used to their presence, and upon rescuing him from his past abusers after taking him away from his impromptu babysitter, the child attaches himself to his newfound fathers. And they would adopt the child and name him Shinra, meaning heart, mind, soul; thin silk, a name that he cherishes to this day. Adopting Shinra encouraged Teruya to finally pop the question to Mikado and the two get married, with Shinra and others in attendance.
Before being officially adopted by Teruya and Mikado, Shinra was very quiet and always made sure to stay out of their way while living with them. When he's asked to do something, he will do it almost without question, and the one time he went out of his way to help (Mikado was looking for a jar of pickles he misplaced), he used his magic to levitate into his hand which was the first sign that they're dealing with something FAR out of their element than they realized. Teruya and Mikado didn't dare leave Shinra out, though, and chose to try and understand his magic while teaching him morals and kindness. Thankfully, as they were adopting Shinra, they were able to keep a lot of the research on magic from the lab with permission from the Foundation (which planned to destroy most of it cause, uh, that kind of power is VERY dangerous to the public as things stand right now but also it'd be immoral to hurt Shinra cause that is a child) and Shinra works up the nerve to take it and study from them so he can understand and control his magic and keep himself and his family safe. Despite the pain he had been put through for it, his feelings on magic actually shifts from "learning to protect others from himself" to "genuine love and interest in magic" the more he learns about it and he starts spending lots of time just trying to study and research more about it on his own willingly. Mikado, getting concerned at the thought of Shinra being obsessed with power, reminds him that he needs to keep his magic a secret to prevent people from finding out and hunting him down as he doesn't want that to happen to him. He makes it clear that while he won't stop him from using his magic, especially if it's something he's come to love, he does want him to prioritize his safety first and foremost. And, well, Shinra doesn't need to be reminded twice, and listens to his father, although he grows more and more comfortable in showing off his magic at the comfort of their home over the years (and doing it while no one is looking). As time passed, Shinra becomes more comfortable, his personality starts to shift and shows more traits of himself. Namely, his intelligence, his curiosity...and his mischief. Shinra may have been quiet as a kid, but as he grew older, he became much more independent, sociable, and more open to showing his playful side, playing jokes and pranks on his family, friends, and neighbors. He quickly grew out of his shell and often finds ways to toy with those he knows, even going as far as to hide his emotions behind a smile if it'll get him to the reaction he wants to see beyond his goading and teasing. That being said, if he ever goes too far, Teruya and Mikado are there to set him straight, and he will apologize when necessary. Shinra does genuinely care about other people, and has very little amusement for pranks that put other people in danger, let alone harm someone's mental well-being. Shinra would even go as far as to intervene upon seeing people getting hurt or belittled, as Teruya has taught him that it's best to take the initiative to help others when no one else will. He's dedicated to any and all goals he's set his mind to, to the point that he can be quite stubborn in being talked out of it by those he loves.
Shinra has strong admiration for both of his dads, and is grateful for everything they've done for him. And while he can't be the heir to the Otori Mart due to his poor financial skills (he's constantly splurging on his hobbies, from creating clockwork and understanding the science of measuring time to anything that could advance his studies on magic, so his funds are often close to zero, much to Teruya's concern), he does his best to make them proud by striking out on the path he wants. As of right now, he is still in college to study horology but he's working as an intern under Auntie Setsuka to become a private investigator like her. When he's not working or at school, he's either spending time with friends or family, or working on some kind of magical experiment in the backyard garden shed he turned into a lab to help him study the rules of magic and what it can do. Which results in explosions. A lot. Don't worry, he's fine and the family has become very used to it, even when they have to explain what happened to the authorities.
Fun fact: Shinra's hair is actually dyed. His original hair color is dark green!
Ngl, when I first made Shinra, I had planned for him to be a single child. And then I came up with four more and went, "Okay, fine." I'll only be talking about two more in this post cause I, once again, underestimated the length and time I'd be putting into this, but I'll probably talk about Ryo and Moriko in another post next time. So here's the second oldest child:
Tumblr media
Name: Eiki Otori
Age: 16-years-old
Birthday: October 7th, 201X/202X
Height: 173~ cm (5 ft 8 in) [without platform boots]
Weight: 67 kgs (148.1 Ibs)
Pronouns: He/Him (Trans)
Orientation: Prefers to go unlabeled
Likes: Whatever catches his interest, his family, ancient history and artifacts (archeology), his rock collection
Dislikes: Losing interest, danger and horror, misinformation, people breaking his stuff, loud noises and crowds
Theme Song: I'm Still Standing - Taron Egerton
Eiki (meaning brightness, clarity, sparkle; joy, rejoice, pleasure) Otori and his twin sister, Hisano, were born in a small town between two loving parents. The town had been hit with Despair pretty hard but thanks to the foundations of hope, it's mostly been on a path of recovery ever since they were born. They had a pretty normal childhood for a few years up until they discovered something they didn't really understand: they both had magic. For Eiki in particular, he had accidentally discovered his ability in magic when he had drawn a random doodle of symbols in class and mindlessly tapped on it, which turned out to be a spell for fire and it just bursts into existence from out of nowhere. No one got hurt, but the damage had been done and everyone had thought he did it on purpose. And when the authorities couldn't figure out how it was done as magic isn't well known in this world (and frankly, it should be kept hidden for the time being since human society as we know it is still recovering from the Tragedy), it only fuels the community's paranoia. Hisano isn't doing much better to alleviate the town's fear as her own power has been getting her into trouble as well, but I'll talk about that when I get to her. Their parents still love them, though, and are constantly trying to protect them now that the town has started to turn on them for powers that they don't even understand, even going as far as to ostracize them. There was bullying, destruction of property, some people even said that they were cursed with Despair...it was just a horrible time for the whole family but they promised to stick together. A promise that is unfortunately broken when the town decides enough is enough and starts rallying a mob together to attack the family. The father tried to distract them as the mother runs away with the kids, but some had noticed and broke away from the group to chase them down. The mother hides the kids into a tree hollow, telling them to stay hidden before running off to distract the mob. By the time the Foundation authorities finally cracked down and dispersed the mob, both the father and mother were found dead...but Eiki and Hisano have disappeared.
The moment things had calmed down, Eiki and Hisano booked it out of town, running until they no longer could. But they kept going as they were both overwhelmed by what had just happened, Hisano silent crying to herself while Eiki keeps pushing her onwards. He was the older twin, his sister needed him now more than ever and he couldn't let the mob catch up with them. So they spent a few months trying to scrape by as they walked, searching for shelter and food on the way. From abandoned fairs, to empty buildings, to literal wilderness, they kept walking in the hopes that no one will hurt them again. Some people are kind enough to give them food and money along the way, but otherwise they often pass them by, unwilling to give them anything more than that. They simply take what they can get, and after what they'd been put through, they can't bring themselves to trust anyone besides themselves. Eiki always prioritized Hisano's health over his own, even going as far as to give her the most food even when she points out that he needs to eat, too. This, predictably, backfires on him one day when he falls sick and can't bring himself to move for long. They're able to reach a town before he falls over on a bench, asking for Hisano to stay until he wakes up. Hisano is clearly hesitating but holds his hand as he falls asleep, and he hopes he'll feel better with some rest.
And then he wakes up. In a house. Bundled up in a blanket and a cold rag on top of his head. And Hisano sitting next to him in her own blanket as she talks animatedly to a kid sitting in an armchair. Eiki sits up in a panic but Hisano quickly reassures him that they're safe now. She's dreamed of meeting them when they needed help, and it came true when she recognized them by the park and begged for their help. Eiki scolds her for trusting them so easily but then a man, Mikado, says that he's not going anywhere until he at least gets some food in him as he's clearly malnourished and sick, giving him a tray of soup. He's unwilling to eat at first even though the soup smells like heaven, but that's when the older kid speaks up. He says Hisano told them what had happened to them while he was asleep, and even understood what they were going through. Powers that they don't understand, let alone how it works completely. But if they choose to stay, then he can help them, getting out of his seat and revealing a small slip of a paper. A piece of paper that he easily folds together into a paper crane with a simple red glow.
"I'm Shinra. And this? This is magic. I can teach you what I know and we can learn together!"
This breaks Eiki and he finally allows himself to cry. Finally, someone that knows what they're going through, someone that can help them understand the magic they've been born with. And he admits that he can't stand the thought of knowing cause what if someone gets hurt because of him? What if it was someone he loves? What if it was Hisano? Hisano is gentle as she reassures him that she's certain something good will come out of this this time while Mikado and Shinra tell him that they'll do everything they can to help. And that's when Teruya comes home, sees the two new kids on their couch, looks at Mikado and goes, "More of them? You could've at least called me so I could prepare the papers-"
After getting a check-up from a doctor to see what sickness he has (Eiki just has a cold, but with the kind of state he was in, it might've gotten worse if he was left as is), Teruya and Mikado look into their town to see if they can contact their parents. But, as they had all feared, their parents are dead, much to their distress and Teruya and Mikado simply adopt them. They make it clear that they don't have to see them as replacements, and frankly they shouldn't as they clearly loved their birth parents, but that they can always rely on them as their guardians. Then they get them the therapy they need (which Shinra goes to as well), cause wow, they sure need it! This all happens when they were, like, eight, btw. Eiki takes his time warming up to the family, testing the waters by talking about whatever interests him the most. When it becomes obvious that they're listening to what he has to say, he becomes more confident and just starts infodumping about his interests. And when Teruya comes home with some pretty rocks that might interest him, Eiki was over the moon and starts naming each and every one of them, which is when he starts his rock collection. Eiki's distrust in others quickly washes away the more time he spends with the Otori family, especially when he realized he was a boy and the family allowed him to use the name Eiki. He learns magic from Shinra, practicing it alongside him. It turns out his type of magic is all about drawing symbols in a certain way and tapping them to activate the spell. Kinda like how Luz does magic in the Owl House, although he can't activate them remotely. But he can toss slips of papers with spells on them like projectiles as long as he presses down on them before letting go. With a supportive family, Eiki becomes who he always was before tragedy struck: bright, friendly and easily excitable. He spends a lot of time jumping from hobby to hobby, from sewing to crochet to developing a cipher for fun, etc. He ends up being quite the free-spirit, doing whatever he wants whenever he wants, which tends to get him into trouble as his sense of responsibility had been dialed back now that he feels like he's in a genuine safe place. He's decently smart, the problem is that he's quite lazy when it comes to work, so he often scrambles at the last minute to get it all done. He's also become quite impulsive, saying or doing things without thinking of the consequences, which also lands him in hot water. Not to mention the many times he joins Shinra in his pranks, although his tends to backfire on him more often than not. Despite this, though, he takes his role as an older brother very seriously. Shinra may be the eldest, but when the chips are down, he'd take responsibility and do anything to protect his family. Even at the cost of himself.
It takes a while, but Eiki has started to see Mikado and Teruya as his parents and refers to them as such at this point in his life. He still deeply misses his birth parents, but he's glad to be a part of a family that loves him just as much as they did. Eiki has no interest in being the heir to the Otori Mart due to his free-spirited nature, and doesn't want to be committed to a store brand for the rest of his life. Currently, he's in high school but sometimes takes up odd jobs that interests him like delivering packages and stuff. When he's not working or at school, he goes straight home to study up on whatever kind of history that interests him or helping Shinra with his studies on magic unless he's invited out. He also gets blown up a lot, but he's fiiiine.
Fun fact: Eiki is actually dating another fankid I have, who is Ezri Kagarin (Single Parent Yuri)! It's a very casual, long-distance relationship that they've kept up since they were about thirteen and they're very loving to each other. No, Yuri does not know about this. Nor does the rest of his family, but that's only cause they don't really believe he's in a relationship whenever he tells them due to his lack of commitment to things (outside his family) in general. Well, jokes on them. Their jaws are going to hit the floor when Eiki and Ezri tell them together! One day!! And hoping that Yuri won't deck him on sight!!!
Next up is the third kid, and she is Eiki's twin sister:
Tumblr media
Name: Hisano Otori
Age: 16-years-old
Birthday: October 7th, 201X/202X
Height: 203 cm (6 ft 8 in)
Weight: 83 kgs (183 Ibs)
Pronouns: She/Her
Orientation: Demisexual Lesbian
Likes: Books, horror, studying medicine, fortune telling
Dislikes: Loud places, dirt and grime, feeling unheard or being ignored
Theme Song: Human - dodie
Hisano (meaning longevity, congratulations, auspiciousness; field, plain, wilderness) Otori grew up with her twin, Eiki, and had a fairly normal life. Up until Eiki had accidentally set fire to the school and suddenly, the entire town was suspicious of them. This terrified Hisano because she had a dream that went exactly like this and she can't believe it had happened. And when she has another dream where a friend of hers gets injured by playing too close to a cliff, she decides to try and warn her to avoid watching her get hurt. Her friend, however, laughs it off and proceeds to play by the cliff anyways, and predictably falls off and gets hurt. This isn't the first time Hisano has tried to warn someone of something bad happening and every time they don't believe her, it happens. People start thinking that she's the reason bad things keep happening even though all she's been doing was warning them of the future, adding fuel to the fire of their paranoia. This makes Hisano fearful of her own dreams, to the point that she often cried to her parents that she doesn't want to sleep. But as stated in Eiki's profile, their parents were very supportive of these tough times and even let Hisano stay in bed with them so she can sleep better. This makes her feel better, although she stops speaking about her dreams since she realized it's only been getting her into trouble. But seeing her dreams come true, regardless if she stays silent or not, makes her feel guilty as she thinks it's her fault for not trying enough. This comes to a head when she has a dream of a mob attacking their house and everyone dying in the process. This freaks her out and she immediately wakes up her parents to warn them. At first they don't believe her, trying to reassure her that it's only a nightmare, but when she starts breaking down in tears, they decide listen and start packing to leave. But all this does is give the mob to form and they start making their presence known, with their parents realizing too little, too late that the dream is coming true. After that, it all goes down exactly as it's said in Eiki's profile: the parents split up to protect their kids, but both end up dying and Hisano and Eiki are the only ones to survive. On the one hand, the fact that they're alive shows that it's possible to break away from those dreams and prevent them from coming true. On the other hand, they're homeless and just barely scraping by as Eiki and Hisano walk alone together without their parents to help them. And due to Hisano's young mind, she can't internalize this fact just yet and has to rely on her brother to help her focus on survival. To focus on getting food and shelter as often as they can, and if she ever has a dream that involves danger, she tells Eiki and they immediately leave to a new spot.
One night, she has a dream, just like the ones before. It was a much nicer dream, with a man doting on who seems to be his son as they hang out at the park. When they look up, though, they seem concern as if talking to someone Hisano can't see before reassuring them that they'll help in any way they can. That she can stay for as long as she likes. The dream ends there, and Hisano nearly brushes it off since it didn't foretold danger like the others...until Eiki falls ill. They were able to reach town before he lays down on a bench to rest, but Hisano is panicking. What if he never gets better? What if something bad happens while he's asleep? What if he...never wakes up again? He asked her to stay and oh, she should've forced him to eat more. He's always been giving away his portion to her when he shouldn't! She should've put her foot down! Hisano looks around, trying to find any sign of help...and sees the very same people in her dreams. Feeling the puzzle pieces connect, Hisano immediately runs up to them and starts begging them for help. The man asks her to slow down while the older kid asks what she needs help with and she takes them to Eiki. Realizing that he's sick, the man asks where their parents are, which Hisano is unable to answer to. This was enough to give him a decent idea of what their situation is, and the man asks if it's okay if he takes them home to care for her twin. With no other option, she accepts and they make the trek home with Eiki in his arms. The older kid, barely a teen, tells her his name is Shinra and asks what happened. Hisano is hesitant but he reassures her, saying that there's places they can turn to for help if they need, like the Future Foundation or the Kisaragi Foundation. Hisano admits that she's not sure if they can help them specifically, which tips Shinra off that this might be more complicated than he expected and he drops the topic until they arrive home. With Eiki wrapped up in a blanket and a cold rag over his head, Shinra tries again, saying that they won't tell anyone what they've been put through if it's really that bad. At this point, Hisano's desperation for someone else to trust and help them finally breaks through the surface and she spills everything to Shinra and the man called Mikado. She's a mess by the end of her story and Mikado does his best to wipe her face as she tries to calm down. Shinra is quiet before saying that he understands now before gently hugging Hisano. He's glad that she understood her dream despite most of the bad ones she's experienced up until now, reaching out when she needed it most instead of ignoring it and staying put. It showed that her dreams can predict good futures, too, not just bad ones, and that she doesn't have to be scared of this magic. She can use it to help others, if that's what she desires. Hisano is confused but Shinra just smiles...and shows her his own magic, amazing her. He's just like her, after all, albeit in a different way. And if she's willing, he can help her with her magic alongside Eiki's. Hisano sits down and starts asking questions, which Shinra starts answering, while Mikado goes to cook for Eiki. After a while, Eiki wakes up, and he gets caught up on everything that's happened while he's been asleep.
Once everything has settled, Hisano and Eiki are brought into the family, although Mikado and Teruya remind them that they don't have to them as replacements. Hisano didn't see them as replacements, though, simply as other fathers she can look up to for guidance. It still takes a while for her to start calling them her dads, though, as she's mindful of Eiki's current state and doesn't want him to feel like he's being forced to see them as their new parents. Hisano was very interested in her dads' past, and they're very happy to talk about their relationship and how they got to the healthy dynamic they have now, although they're careful not to go into too much detail when it comes to the traumatic parts as she's still young and recovering from her own trauma. She likes to read with Mikado, as she always had an interest in books, and Teruya will take her shopping for anything she she wants. She also becomes something of a horror fan, much to Teruya and Eiki's terror. Mikado and Shinra are 100% down for this, though, and they have a horror movie night together as a family (except Moriko, she's a child). Hisano has also become interested in studying medicine, especially when it comes to home remedies she can make, well, at home. Her and Eiki are as close as ever, but now that they're in a safe place, they've started to bud heads a lot more due to their contrasting personalities: excitable and impulsive Eiki that likes to talk a lot to cool-headed and cautious Hisano that's more of a listener than a talker. With Shinra, she's able to come to terms with her magic as a seer, being able to see the future. As of now, she doesn't need to sleep to have prophetic dreams to activate her future sight anymore, but the dreams tend to be more clearer and farther into the future than when she's awake. She also discovered that some scented candles can keep her from dreaming so whenever she needs some rest, she puts up a candle before going to sleep to avoid risking a dream. But while she's accepted her magic, her feelings on it a quite complicated and she prefers not to talk about any kind of prophetic dreams/visions she may have. It's gotten her into a heap of trouble before, so she chooses to remain silent and just write them out in her journal, allowing Fate to takes it's course unless it's something especially dire. If or when that happens, she tries to be more subtler in her interventions while having her family as backup, even going as far as to use her hobby of fortune telling as a way to convey her prophecies to others. She's a bit more successful like this, but not always. And whenever she fails, she just sticks close to her dads for comfort. She loves her new older brother, although he drives her up the wall just as much as Eiki does nowadays due to his chaotic nature. Compared to her brothers, she's a lot more responsible and mature, although this is less from experience and more that she's willing to stop and think first before acting. This isn't always foolproof: if she needs to make a time-sensitive decision, she may take too long and the opportunity to do anything will pass her by...for better or for worse. Shinra is far better at thinking on the fly compared to her. She likes to stick to her comfort zone, never really breaking out of it unless she decides to indulge her friends/siblings' hobbies and ideas. While being a stickler for rules keeps her out of trouble, she can sometimes be a little too bound to the rules in favor of trying to keep the peace rather than fixing the problem. Regardless of her own opinions, though, she will always do her best to help her family and friends in any way she can. Even if it means looking the other way.
Hisano loves her fathers, although she tends to click more with Mikado than Teruya. Mostly because Mikado likes to bond in silence just like her, while Teruya prefers to talk as a way of bonding. That being said, she usually goes to Teruya for advice as while Mikado is clearly doing his best to be a better person, his past experiences tends to cloud his judgment due to the skewed priorities he grew up with so his advice is much more...morally gray. It's advice that some of her siblings are more willing to take but Hisano prefers a more kinder response, and Teruya's advice just lines up better for what she's trying to go for. Still, there are some things that only Mikado would have a better perspective on due to his own fuck ups and Hisano would sometimes talks to him for a second opinion if she feels like she's lacking something. She still misses her birth parents and sometimes when she's feeling especially lonely without them, she'll pull out the Ouija board and bring in Shinra and (an unwilling) Eiki with her to try and contact them. She has yet to find them, but she has had interesting conversations with others ghosts though. As of now, Hisano is in high school and it's only now that she realized that she...has absolutely no idea what she wants to do with her life. She's not interested in running the Otori Mart, and while she loves learning medicine, she's uncertain if she wants to turn her hobby into a career. Even though her dads says that she doesn't need to figure herself out now, she can't help but feel like she's being left behind when Shinra is about to graduate and is working to get his license to become a private investigator like Auntie Setsuka, and Eiki is just content to simply go with the flow and do whatever he wants, even if it means coasting on by. But she's trying to figure it out. Eventually. Whenever Hisano isn't at school, she's usually at the library for a quiet place to read books or hanging out with friends. She sometimes drop by to study magic with her brothers, but she's not as active as them due to her magic being more "passive" in nature in comparison to theirs. So she doesn't get blown up as often as them, if ever.
I don't really have a fun fact for her? I mean...she probably keeps a pet spider underneath her bed inside a box. Mostly to keep Teruya and Eiki from screaming and then instantly killing her on sight. Cause they hate spiders. </3
And that's all I'm gonna talk about for now cause oh my god, it's late and I need to stop here and get some sleep. I'll probably talk about Ryo and Moriko in a separate post so, uh, yeah. I hope you enjoy reading about my silly little IRL Sannotori fankids? (Feel free to ask questions about them if you'd like. But only if you want to.)
Ah, yes. Dooming OCs for plot reasons and also cause you can/think it would build an interesting narrative. That's something I do a lot, too. It's rare for OCs to ever have peace when you're a Creator that can do literally whatever you want to them (for better or for worse). Kinda reminds me of one of my OCs who's been through the ringer both in her backstory and the plot but at least she gets a happy ending out of all of that nonsense. ^^;
(I should post more about my fankids, tbh. I just worry about people's reactions to them even though the one ship I've been posting the most about for more than a year and a half resulted in...basically receiving zero fuss over it. To my surprise.)
Yeah like it's so easy to add trauma to ocs because you can do,, literally anything and sometimes you don't even realize it like when had just made Akira and was telling some friends about her lore it was only when they were like "oh poor thing :(" hearing about how she used to get bullied back in the orphanage as a kid that it dawned on me that oh yeah that's kinda fucked up. Guess I'm so used to fankids dying in straight up killing games because of nextgenronpa that non-KG related trauma flew completely over my head-
This ask also reminds me how a few years back i did this trend on Instagram where you try to find one oc you have with no trauma by going over this little list and there was one character who scored in every single trauma category and for months i had people asking me if she was ok- (surprisingly yes btw)

A chaotic family during the winter. Not the best scan of my traditional artwork, but I was using my phone so what can you do?
Anyways, who wants to know more about the IRL Sannotori fankids I made, raise your hands-

Literally like this
Tumblr media
LMAOOOOOOOOO, that's exactly what happens. Teruya and Kizuna are just working and minding their own business while Ayame and IRLkado are bringing home sad kid(s) to take care of (and eventually adopt).
To add onto this meme, it's kinda like this video:
youtube
Just replace "bought" with "adopted" and that's basically it, lol.

Chapter 11 Update!
Summary: Teruya and Mikado finally adjusts to sharing a room and eventually a bed together. But June is coming up, which makes both of them gloomy.
After all, the anniversary of the Proto-Killing Game was coming up. The very event that changed the trajectory of their lives.
CW: Brief Narration of Underage Sex, Bits of Suicidal Ideation, Nightmares of Death/Corpses, Blood
Lots of grieving all around, considering all of the people that died in the Proto-Killing Game.
And, like usual, some sexual tension near the end of Teruya and Mikado's POVs. And some brief moment of possessiveness in Mikado's POV.
Also, I may know the events of the Danganronpa timeline but I don't know how to fit DRA in it, especially since I've pretty much expanded the 79th class's time in Hope's Peak before they were forced to leave, so I decided to just say, "fuck it, we ball." I'll make it make sense somehow.

Chapter 10 Update!
Summary: Teruya and Mikado have settled into a new routine, with a new pet in their home and business meetings to attend outside of the Kisaragi Foundation. Things have been going well for them and he was looking forward to making a better future.
And then Teruya has a nightmare. A reminder of the past that haunts him.
CW: Nightmares of Death, Blood, and Executions, Brief Discussion and Narration of Underage Sex
There's also very strong sexual tension and some intimacy in this chapter, but there's no sex.
Here's something I wanna make clear before we continue with the story: while this story does NOT shy away from sexual tension (and I honestly have no idea how it keeps sneaking into nearly every single chapter so far), this story isn't going to have a sex scene - or at least, one that is explicit. At most, it'll have some strong intimacy but I will be avoiding going into detail or have the scene cut to black while making clear what had happened in narration. Sex will be discussed between characters and in their thoughts, but it won't go into explicit detail. I *am* keeping this story to it's mature rating and I don't plan to bump it up to explicit at any point.
I also want to make it clear that while there will be uncomfortable, even triggering, topics going forward, they will never be explicitly shown and I will put a content warning at the start of every chapter whenever it's relevant, like I always do. I want to explore these topics as sensitively as I can without hurting anyone, but if anyone feels like I'm messing up somewhere, please let me know. The last thing I want to do is mess up tackling these sensitive topics, but I won't know if I'm doing something wrong if no one tells me.
That being said, tell me if I get certain events or characters wrong. I've only just recently been re-watching WeebyNews' livestream playthroughs of DRA and I haven't finished Chapter 3 as of posting this chapter. I know the big facts but it's the tiny details that have completely escaped my memory so do let me know.

Chapter 12 update...actually, it’s been updated for a while. But I apparently never shared the update when I posted it on AO3. Oops.
Summary: Teruya spends some time with Kinjo and Rei after the Proto-Killing Game anniversary for a much needed talk. It goes pretty well, but as Teruya spends some quality time with Mikado, Minako calls in to see if he wanted to hangout at an izakaya at some point.
And she wants him to take Mikado with.
CW:  Brief Mention of Underage Drinking, Alcohol, Brief Moment of Vomiting
Drunken kisses between an intoxicated Mikado and a tipsy Teruya are involved in this chapter as well, along with the usual sexual tension.

Chapter 9 Update!
Summary: Teruya and Mikado return to the Kisaragi Foundation and the former is reminded of old worries. Despite this, though, he decides to prepare a surprise for his partner just to make him happy once more.
Just one problem: he had to convince Rei to check the lab again.
CW: Discussion of Animal Injury, Mentions of Animal Bombs, Past Suicidal Ideation, Implied Past Suicide Attempt
Vague(?) spoilers for the Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer manga. (I have not read it, I just read the wiki to look for details.)
There's some sexual tension near the end of both Teruya's and Mikado's POV.

Chapter 8 Update!
Summary: Teruya's birthday comes and goes, like it usual does. White Day arrives but unfortunately for Teruya and Mikado, work prevents them from celebrating when Kinjo asks the merchant to go to a meeting in Tokyo. But perhaps they could salvage this day by spending some time together alone and treading old memories...
CW: Mentions of Death and Murder, Guns, Violence, Brief Mention of Disease for an Animal (eye infection)
There's some brief sexual tension but it's only for a paragraph or two in Teruya's POV and also some grief/mourning. Not much to say here besides Teruya's driving skills are *fantastic* and by fantastic, I mean nonexistent.

Chapter 5+6 Update!
Summary:  Another month flies by and Teruya is trying his best to be a good boyfriend to Mikado. But while he was trying to figure out what kind of gift he could give to Mikado for Christmas, Kinjo summons him to his office and drops some sudden news: Teruya will be going on a mission to find some children that were kidnapped from their refugee camp. And since their deal has Teruya watching over Mikado, he has to take him with.
CW: Child Kidnapping, Experimentation, & Death, Mutilation of Corpses, Violence, Guns, Gore
Buckle in, these two parts are *at least* around 100 pages on Google Docs. For my sanity sakes, I've split it up from Teruya's POV to Mikado's POV. Chapter 5 still ended up being pretty damn long though, sorry in advance.

Note
(my memory is awful so sorry if i sent this already but) I was curious how Rei and Tsurugi feel about IRL Mikado and Teruya being a couple and by extension their thoughts on the kiddos in your little Terukado Au (6.5 cast thiughts would be cool too but idk if any of them would care much about that?)
Fun fact: my power went out while I was answering this ask. Don't worry, it only lasted for, like, a couple of minutes. I'm just annoyed that I lost what I already written down. </3
(Also, mood on the bad memory thing, I forget stuff all the time. But I never got another ask about this, so I think you're good.)
Anyways, back to the question:
Rei Mekaru
Tbh, Rei and Tsurugi were completely oblivious to Teruya and IRLkado's relationship for the most part. Not because they wouldn't be able to put two and two together. In fact, they'd be on their ass the moment they get any kind of context clue about what's going on between them. But because they're too busy with their own problems to deal with (usually work), they don't realize the romantic subplot happening in the background, and frankly, Teruya and IRLKado had been trying to keep their relationship a secret in the first place. They knew they'd get into a whole lot of trouble if someone catches them in the act due to IRLkado being a(n ex-)criminal and Teruya working for the Kisaragi Foundation as Head of the Treasury Division, so they kept it on the downlow unless they were home alone and had some privacy. It wouldn't be professional for them to do any PDA during work anyways, so they're able to slip under their radar without much issue.
(Plus I think it'd be funny that the two smartest people in this survivor trio literally just suck at recognizing a romantic relationship. They may be book smart but when it comes to the matters of the heart, they tend to flop pretty badly in their own ways.)
Rei is getting better, though, through her friendship with Teruya. Over the years, he's been able to bring out a more softer side of Rei through his kindness and his own hardwork in his respective field, so he ends up getting her respect for his skills as a merchant. Which helps break down her walls a bit and allows herself to get close to him, especially when he accepts her flaws and cares for her. She cares for Teruya and starts paying a little more attention to him...which is when she starts seeing the signs of Teruya getting a little too attached to IRLkado. She warns him to not get close to him at risk of getting betrayed, but while Teruya acknowledges her warnings, even saying that he tries to remind himself of his criminal record to make sure he doesn't have any rose-tinted glasses to their friendship, it's obvious that he's still showing a bit of affection to IRLkado against his better judgment.
This eventually culminates into Rei visiting Teruya while they were at home and the two of them desperately trying to keep their relationship on the downlow. At first, things were fine and Rei and IRLkado are decently amicable, if only for Teruya's sake and keeping the peace in general. But when she comes back from a bathroom break, she walks in on Teruya and IRLkado sneaking a few kisses in the kitchen. And then the pieces of why they seem strangely close to each other over the last few years click in place. To say Rei was livid would be an understatement.
Teruya, knowing full well that he is in the wrong for going behind their backs to be in a secret relationship with IRLkado, their very enemy that they're forced to work with thanks to Kinjo's philosophy of using evil to destroy evil, begs Rei not to tell anyone. If anyone knows about this, if Tsurugi knows about this, he'd toss IRLkado back into his cell and he doesn't want that for him. But Rei tells Teruya that he's being a goddamn idiot for allowing this to happen, only setting himself up to get hurt by opening his heart to a dangerous and manipulative criminal like IRLkado. When Teruya tries to tell her that he's being a better person now, Rei does NOT believe him and turns her ire onto IRLkado, questioning if he even cares about Teruya's feelings, let alone reciprocate them the same way he does, or if he's just using Teruya. IRLkado, who had been quiet up to this point as he's processing the possible consequences this reveal would have in the near future, fumbles as he tries to explain how he feels about Teruya. That he's been really kind to him even when they were enemies, patient with him when he's at his worse, and comforting when he needed it. That he's just so...grateful to him that he has given him the opportunity to be better and gave him the experiences through their work and missions to realize...a lot of shit he needed to unpack about himself and the damage he's done to everyone he's ever met and wronged. He won't pretend that he didn't fully understand what Teruya meant when he accidentally confessed to him that day, but he chose to give this relationship a shot to understand his own feelings for Teruya as he kept feeling warm and fuzzy around him. It was sweet, it was tough, and there have been plenty of rough patches they've been put through together as they tried to navigate their relationship. But it helped him realize that he, well...he felt the same way about Teruya. Even when he's still trying to figure out the kind of future he wants to pursue, he's...trying. He trying really hard to understand himself better, and therapy has been one hell of an eye-opener to say the least. By the end, IRLkado just quietly begs her to not separate them, to not put him back in his cell. If not for him then for Teruya.
Rei...is actually stunned to see IRLkado act this way. While he has been cooperative for their missions, especially when it turned out that AIkado has betrayed and tried to kill him, he has never really showed remorse for his past actions. He's aware that what he did was wrong but he always had this look in his eyes that he wouldn't go back and fix things. That he's content with his actions so long as he gets what he wants in the end (finding/reviving Utsuro). That he would never change his ways. But looking at him now, with how worried and meek he was at the thought of losing what he has with Teruya, she's...conflicted. Conflicted on how genuine he seems, even when she fully knows that he could be faking it all and trying to manipulate the both of them. She goes to accuse him of such, but that's when Teruya steps in and pulls her away for a more one-on-one conversation between them. He apologizes for going behind her back again as he knew the risks of dating someone like IRLkado, but also admits that he's been really happy with him and has seen IRLkado improve himself over the course of their relationship. Not just for Teruya, but for himself, too. All he asks is for her to keep quiet about their relationship since things are..."fragile" for IRLkado, and if he loses the chance to be a better person through punishment, he might double down on his behavior and never become the person he should be. Rei says that if he's going to double down, that would only prove that he was never going to be a good person, but Teruya pushes back, saying that that's what he meant by "fragile." IRLkado is still processing what to do with himself and who he wants to be, staring through what could be his future beyond the door if he chooses redemption. And if they slam the door on his face just when he decides to step through it, it'll only strengthen his worldview on give or take. That the only way to survive is to use others until there's nothing left and then discard them once they've outlived their usefulness. That's the kind of place IRLkado is in right now, that his sense of self and beliefs are too wishy-washy for him to have the resolve to be good no matter what. He needs a chance to be better and have the time to gather the strength to be good, and if Teruya is the only one that's willing to give it to him, then so be it. He just...He just wants Rei to give him the chance to help IRLkado. Even if she doesn't trust him, she trusts Teruya to do the right thing...right? Rei pauses, quietly thinking it over.
"...And if this backfires?" She asks, genuine as she looks at Mikado waiting in the kitchen. Their eyes nearly meet, but he looks away like he wants to shrink under her gaze. Teruya takes his time to come up with a response.
"...Then I take full responsibility for whatever happens next."
Rei pinches the bridge of her nose, knowing full well that this is a horrible idea that can have dire consequences. But she's become soft, too soft, around Teruya and simply says that she needs to think about this before leaving. It takes days of thinking, of keeping an eye on IRLkado's progress and his therapy sessions (which she's not allowed to look into for obvious privacy reasons but it drives her crazy that IRLkado is actually going to therapy), and trying to understand Teruya's POV that she finally relents and calls him. She tells Teruya very clearly that she does NOT agree with his thoughts on IRLkado as it can be a pretty dangerous way of thinking when that person has already proven themselves to be a threat, but she does trust him and will keep quiet for the time being. Teruya, who has been a nervous-wreck ever since that day, ecstatically thanks her and says that he'll do his best to help IRLkado reform! Rei just tells him to be careful and to not let his relationship cloud his judgment, which he reassures her that he'll keep that in mind as their conversation shifts into something more casual and friendlier. When the call ends, Rei just sits there, wondering if she made the right decision.
Spoiler alert: she did, as by the time the Utsuroshima Killing Game happens, IRLkado has gotten his shit together and fully intends to stop AIkado for good. He still wants revenge, but his motivations have shifted to one that leans more towards justice and to prevent even more harm coming to fruition from his own actions. Sadly, they weren't able to stop the game from starting and Teruya gets stuck in there before getting killed by AIkado, which just breaks BOTH of their hearts in the process. To make matters worse, not only did it turn out that Kinjo fucking lied to them and used them as bait, he also hired the same fucking guy that nearly killed IRLkado as a double agent. To say both of them are PISSED would be an understatement and they kind just gang up on Kinjo until IRLkado is forced away from him by Keisuke. Meanwhile, Syobai is baffled that he actually missed a spot check when he tried to kill IRLkado, and Sora (through her out-of-body experience) is confused as fuck to see Mikado(???) with the Kisaragi Foundation, alongside the rest of the survivors. Chapter 6 happens, yadda yadda yadda, IRLkado does his backup plan of reuploading backups of the avatars into everyone's bodies with a bit of luck (thanks Sora and Yuki), and everyone survives! Hooray! Just one condition: everyone is still in a coma, but the fact that their brains are active means that they'll wake up with a bit of time. So the Kisaragi Foundation transfers everyone back to base while Yuki disappears as he does not trust Kinjo period (and I don't blame him tbh). After this, IRLkado keeps doing his best to do good, even without Teruya around to keep him "in check," and does his part to help. Both he and Rei actually end up spending a lot of time together due to her promise to get Sora out of whatever remains of the Neo World Program, working together to gather data and the means to transfer her out without getting AIkado and AI!Utsuro in the mix. She's surprised to find out that IRLkado doesn't really want Utsuro back anymore but he tells her that he no longer wants his life to revolve around him, not after everything he (and thus, AIkado) has done to reach that point. It's...It's not worth it, not anymore. Not when it hurt the ones closest to him. He can't take back what he's already done, but if he can right his wrongs, then all the more reason for him to help than to double down on what he's done.
This makes Rei realize that, despite everything that's happened, Teruya has been proven right. That IRLkado can change and do better, now that he had made that choice for himself and has the resolve to stick to it. And Rei sighs, wondering how they ever landed themselves a wonderful friend like him. IRLkado just shrugs, saying that it's less about fate, and more about luck, really. After that, they spend a lot of time bonding as they work and just keeping each other in check due to the trauma of the Utsuroshima Killing game: IRLkado keeping Rei from abusing her alcoholism, and Rei keeping him from, uh, hurting himself, among other things. Listen, coming face to face with an AI version of yourself that is more or less "you" and that you can see yourself taking the very actions "he's" done would fuck up your self-esteem now that you're committing yourself to a redemption arc. They also just bond over their mutual hatred over Kinjo.
By the time Teruya awakens and they have their scripted falling out with Kinjo, Rei and Teruya just hang out together as he recovers from...well, everything that happened from the Utsuroshima Killing game. They're bonding over the shit Kinjo has put them through over the years and Teruya laments the many times he's given him a second chance and how he proceeded to push and break them every single time. Rei just lets him do most of the venting as it's become clear to her that he's been bottling up most of his frustrations over the years and is kinda kicking herself for not giving him more support when he's been nothing but supportive of her all this time. She apologizes for not being a better friend to him, and Teruya almost brushes it away before pausing and decided to forgive her for it. He knows that unlike Kinjo, she's trying, and while she may not always catch herself making mistakes or struggle to show support due to her own inexperience in friendships, he appreciates the effort whenever she meets him halfway. Rei still wants to be better for him, and tells him that she'll show more support and care from now on...especially since he's found himself a partner he can rely on. This surprises Teruya as he didn't expect her to change her opinion on IRLkado, but she simply says that she had a lot of one-on-one time with him and decided that he is a better person, and has fully come around to Teruya's relationship with him. Doesn't stop her from giving him a jab about how he can do so much better than Mikado Sannoji, but she knows he won't change his mind at this point since they've clearly reaffirmed their love for one another. Teruya smacks her arm, and just like that, they've become closer than ever.
This is basically her feelings on IRL Sannotori/IRL Terukado: initially angry but reluctant before coming around to accepting and even taking jabs about it to them. Rei gets to be Teruya's Maid of Honor during their wedding, and gets to meet their first son, Shinra. Rei's not that good with kids in general but she usually shows her softer side around them, although she's definitely the stricter kind of role model to them. Shinra grows to like Rei and likes to learn a lot from her, and Rei, in turn, likes Shinra for how good of a student he is. Of course, when his gremlin side becomes more apparent, he starts being a little shit and likes to mess with her, much to her annoyance. She cares for him but he also drives her insane sometimes, which Teruya and IRLkado are both apologetic for as they try to keep Shinra in line. Eiki isn't that good with school so he tends to bud heads with Rei as she hunts him down whenever Teruya asks her to help tutor him, which results in Eiki trying to avoid Auntie Rei every chance he gets. Hisano is pretty much the golden student since she stays out of trouble and is good at learning, but she's clearly a lot more lost on what to do with her future unlike the rest of her siblings (minus Moriko, who is still a child). Rei is trying to help her find something to do as she claims it's easier to have a set goal in your life, but it's obvious that her advice isn't really sticking with her. Ryo, on the other hand, is a full-on delinquent that has a lot of issues with her birth parents, something that Rei relates to a lot but finds it frustrating that she's risking her own future by neglecting her studies. And unfortunately, since Rei is very no-nonsense and still pretty mean and Ryo is a hot-head that hates authority, they tend to clash so much that Teruya has to intervene and keep them from fighting each other. Moriko is a literal child, so Rei is naturally softer around her and she's often asked to tutor her as she's willing to adapt her teaching to help Moriko learn at her own pace due to her autism. She's more suited to older students like in a university setting but the fact that she tries to help Moriko learn the material shows that she cares about her, which helps Ryo understand her a bit better since she's closest with Moriko. Rei cares about all these kids, and is glad to see them grow up healthy under Teruya and IRLkado's care. She was initially concerned about IRLkado and how well he'd be a parent, but over the years her concerns wane as it becomes clear that he loves them very deeply and would do anything to make sure they're happy.
Tsurugi Kinjo
As mentioned before, Kinjo would be completely in the dark about Teruya and IRLkado's relationship. And unlike Rei, who eventually finds out about it, he doesn't know until minutes before his falling out with Teruya. He found out about what he did, using Rei and Teruya as bait to hide his double agent, the very same man that had helped AIkado in trying to revive Utsuro through the killing game. And he is FURIOUS for being betrayed by someone he considers to be his best friend, which results in the two of them arguing in his office. Since everyone lives this time, I think Kinjo would be less remorseful about it and doubles down on his justifications, saying that it all worked out in the end and that it was the only way to stop AIkado. But Teruya isn't having any of it, which tips Kinjo off that something has shifted in their usual dynamic as he starts to tear into him. Teruya goes on about the times he would use their trust in him against them over and over again, about the times he would give them a plan but keep them in the dark about certain details that put them in danger, the times he would abandon them to the criminals and Despairs that threatened their lives and only surviving by the skins of their teeth. And this was no different: Kinjo used Teruya and Rei (and IRLkado) as bait which they took hook, line, and sinker cause they trusted the plan they gave him (not necessarily IRLkado but he didn't have much say in the matter), when they lost contact with Setsuka, instead of sending a search party for clues or even a message she could've left behind, he stops all attempts to find her and essentially abandoned her to Void, all because he made contact with the same hitman that caught her and made a deal with him in secret behind everyone's backs?! Teruya chose to keep quiet about the goddamn money that was taken from their accounts because he trusted him when he said that it was just a backup plan, but it wasn't even that, was it? Sacrificing him and Rei and IRLkado and even Setsuka was always part of the plan, wasn't it? All because he trusted Syobai Hashimoto more than he trusted his own friends. The same hitman that helped set up the killing game, the same hitman that kidnapped all the victims and allowed them get killed, the same hitman that nearly killed his boyfriend because his AI paid him to!
"...Boyfriend?" Did he hear that correctly? Surely, he couldn't have. Teruya would never do that. He would never date their own enemy behind their backs like this. He trusted him that much.
But the way his eyes widen, the grimace on his face...it told him all he had to know. And Rei, who had been witnessing this moment without lifting a single finger, winces like she had known as well.
Teruya Otori...was dating that criminal? And Rei knew?
And he was...narrowing his eyes, his grimace strengthening into a scowl.
"Yes. My boyfriend." Teruya said, doubling down. "My boyfriend, who's waiting for me at home. That boyfriend."
Kinjo grips the arms of his wheelchair.
"You...This is ridiculous, Teruya!" Kinjo yells. And yet, Teruya just stares down at him, clutching his crutches so tightly that they shook. "He's a criminal! He's hurt civilians! He killed you-!"
"Killed?" Teruya...laughs. He had the audacity to laugh at him. And just as quickly as it had come out, he snaps his mouth shut until he bared his teeth at him. "You're right! I was killed! I was killed because Rei didn't have the time to make another escape code for me. I was killed because you chose to use me as bait which put me in that position in the first place. I was killed because Mikado - that Alter Ego - took advantage of my vulnerable state and input a firewall in my avatar, something that had to be destroyed to help the survivors escape that damned killing game, which meant that I had to let myself get murdered by him to give everyone a chance to survive."
"Teruya." Kinjo starts, a warning in his tone. But he could feel the clench in his throat. "Try to understand. Mikado Sannoji is dangerous and probably doesn't care about your feelings! He has the record to prove it! But while I may have chosen to sacrifice you, it was for the greater good. It was to prevent the most casualties-!"
"Greater good? Preventing casualties?" Teruya's crutches pound against the floor as he moves closer to the desk, almost like he was stomping. "Tell me, Kinjo, when Alter Ego came back online and threatened to blow up the island, when Sora lost her ability to make choices on her own, when Yuki pressed that button, what was your plan? To be stuck in those fantasies for the rest of your life as Alter Ego wrecks havoc onto the real world? Cause if that was your plan after sacrificing so many lives, then you sure as hell knew how to make it all worth it."
Silence.
Just pure, stunned silence.
A silence that Kinjo struggled to break. To come up with a rebuttal as his friend glares at him with an anger he hasn't seen in years.
A silence that he was eventually able to break.
"...that's not fair." Kinjo had never sounded so quiet before, so weak, not even to himself. "It's not fair to pin it all on me just because my plan didn't work out."
"...You're right. It isn't." The bright red rage on Teruya's face has simmered down. But the piercing resentment in his eyes never left. "Maybe, just maybe, if you had made different decisions, if you never went behind our backs and used us as bait, if Rei had more time for another code, if I hadn't panicked upon seeing her 'dead body' and tried to escape, then maybe things would have been different. Maybe we would have succeeded. Maybe we would have still failed. Maybe I still would have died for our mission. But you know what?" Teruya leans forward, glowering at him. "'What ifs' mean nothing here. This is the plan you came up with, and this is the result: almost everyone would have died or have been stuck in a fantasy and Alter Ego would have escaped and won. He would have won, if he hadn't made the mistake in believing that Akane Taira's brain dead body had nothing to do with the Divine Luck. The Divine Luck she inherited beyond death and Sora's connection to her brain allowing her to use it when she needed it most. He only lost because Sora was there, not because of you. And you wanna know the funniest thing in this shitshow?"
Kinjo didn't answer.
Teruya answered anyways.
"Mikado Sannoji was the one who killed me."
"But Mikado Sannoji was the one who saved me."
"Not. You."
And with those two final words, Teruya turned around. He moved in his haste, nearly tripping on his way out but managing to right himself before Rei could step in and help. He slams the door, leaving Kinjo to stare at where he once was.
"...He took the words right out of my mouth." Rei said the first words that comes out of her mouth since the start of this whole fight, and Kinjo snapped his head towards her.
"Rei. You can't be serious."
"I am." Rei scowled at him. "And just so you know, you're not taking any of the credit for what Mikado has done for the victims' survival. He may have set off the domino effect with the creation of his Alter Ego, but he's the one that prevented the victims' deaths from being irreversible. So as far as I'm concerned, he's already amending his crimes."
"Rei-"
"Don't talk to me." Rei turns on her heel. "You've proven yourself to be the most unreliable, incompetent, and untrustworthy fool I have ever met in my life. So you're no longer worth my time and effort. And if Teruya keeps his common sense intact, he'd be on the same page as me."
"Rei-!"
She slams the door.
And Tsurugi Kinjo...was left all alone.
...So with that impromptu mini-fic out of the way, Kinjo is left steaming over the fallout. He's still trying to justify his actions to himself, saying that they'll come back after they calm down and talk to him for work. So he waits. He waits for them call, to text him, to send a little note through their work if he has time to spare for a "personal" meeting.
But nothing.
No calls. No texts. Not even a note.
They were still working, Kinjo can see the documents they send over to him for daily check-ins. They're too professional to be petty and outright ignore him when it comes to work. But otherwise, they never reached out to him. Never talked to him. Even when Keisuke awkwardly tells him that they're still hanging out, they're hanging out without him. Like he wasn't...their friend anymore.
But that can't be right. They're his friends. His only friends left. And they promised to stick together. So why...?
Should...he apologize? Apologize for doing his job? Teruya always knew he struggled with difficult decisions in the past and while he always bud heads with her, Rei understood whenever he had to be pragmatic and even agree with him in certain scenarios. So maybe if he just apologized, they'll at least start talking to him again.
But even when he tried to send those texts, they remained untouched. Well, Teruya left him on read, but he leaves no reply. Fine then, he'll just talk to them during the meeting. But when he tries to arrive early, Rei and Teruya weren't there to catch up in person like usual. And when they finally arrived together, there were too many people he was comfortable with to try and apologize so he just started the meeting with the awkward air between them. By the time it finishes, he tries to call out for Rei and Teruya to wait. Rei rolls her eyes while Teruya asked him if there was something wrong with their work. When he says no, though, he turns his back on him and says not to bother him unless it was work-related and leaves with Rei. He watches them go, his confusion slowly turning into realization. It couldn't be. It...couldn't be. Right?
Right?
And yet, when that judge gave it's final verdict for Void, for Mikado Sannoji that had proven himself to be "reformed" through the very work and missions Kinjo has forced upon him, he's left reeling as the very laws he believed would bring justice let him go with such a light sentence. All because he's changed? All because AIkado's crimes were his own and not IRLkado's? All because...he could help so many people under the Foundation's work with his skills?
Tsurugi calls out to Teruya. To understand what was happening before his very eyes. And Teruya...links his arm with IRLkado's and walks right past him, Rei following after him, and Setsuka giving him a condescending wave.
Tsurugi Kinjo...was alone.
He was all alone...because he has destroyed whatever love and trust his friends had in him.
And that's when Tsurugi has his mental breakdown like in that Omake I have yet to read but I have seen those CGs and wow, he is doing horribly, huh.
As for Tsurugi's feelings on the kids...uh, tbh with you, he has never met them. Why? Well, remember when I mentioned that funeral in Shinra's profile? Yeah, that was Tsurugi's. His health has pretty much declined after realizing the ramifications of his own actions and just leaving the Kisaragi Foundation, and with how the blessings of Divine Luck works, Tsurugi's Fortune has pretty much faded to nothing at this point so he would've ended up here sooner or later unless Yuki blessed him again (but I don't think he would've done that considering how he instantly left the scene after he was free, which I think says a lot on how he feels about Tsurugi and the Kisaragi Foundation as a whole). Rei had told Teruya about Tsurugi's declining health from a message she received from Keisuke, and he decides to go visit him while IRLkado stayed home cause haha, ain't no way in hell he's going to see him willingly. But Teruya at least wanted to see him one last time, even if it doesn't go well, and Rei takes him to where he has hidden himself away from the world, which is also where Keisuke is since he had offered to stay with Tsurugi and take care of him. While Rei is making herself at home, she refuses to go see Tsurugi as she has made it clear what her stance on him was last time and is going to stick to that. She's only here for Teruya since this news made him want to see Tsurugi, nothing more. Respecting her wishes, Teruya enters Tsurugi's room and he sits by his bed, where his ex-friend remains. When he talks, he doesn't apologize, not really. But he clearly regrets everything he's done, for he just couldn't see any better options. Teruya figured he hadn't changed too much, even when death is hovering over him. And yet, he still chooses to stay, cause he believes no one deserves to die alone. That's the only kindness he's willing to give him now. Tsurugi doesn't say anything else, silently crying as he knew he didn't really deserve it.
("For what it's worth, I'll miss what could've been. I'll miss what remained of our friendship.")
So, yeah, Tsurugi never got to meet Teruya and IRLkado's kids. But if we bring the Afterlife Theater in this, he's probably sulking in his seat as he watches Teruya and IRLkado happily raise their kids together.
Ryutaro Maki
Since you asked about the 6.5 cast as well, here ya go! We'll go through them in character order, starting with our protag, Ryutaro. The interesting thing about Ryutaro in 6.5 is that he's, like, your average teenage little brother: annoying, but caring and a bit rebellious. And from what little we see of him in SDRA2, he clearly doesn't really agree with Kinjo's attitude but he also doesn't like those that hurt others. And when Keisuke nearly takes the shot at the risk of hitting Midori in the epilogue, Ryutaro is frustrated that Keisuke nearly did that with barely a pause until Midori calms him down by pointing out that there was no right or wrong decision in that moment, he was just trying to do what he thought was right. And it's not like Midori didn't tell him to take the shot anyways. I imagine Ryutaro was still upset about it but he calms down and is clearly confused on what he believes is right and wrong. Especially when two of his closest friends (and one being his crush) are being affected by the split that has happened in the Kisaragi Foundation. He has yet to choose a side between "Hawks," "Doves," and "Neutrals," according to LINUJ and the wiki, but to me, he leans more towards Doves due to his disgust at Kinjo and Keisuke's choices.
With this in mind, I think Ryutaro's feelings on IRLkado would be...confusion and curiosity, mostly. He gets that they have to work with him and is at least willing to give him a chance on that alone, but he still wouldn't trust him as far as he could throw him. And yet, Teruya seems weirdly close to him? Like, they're almost never seen without each other but he kinda just chalks it up to IRLkado not being allowed to be alone without a guard. And since a few idiot guards apparently hurt him while he was under the Director's care, it's no wonder Teruya is wary of leaving him alone if it means putting him at risk with some Foundation members that tend to abuse their power. But it's none of his business and he allows IRLkado to hang out with them during the mission, even when Keisuke would rather he be anywhere else but here. And somehow this leads to them??? Forging a bond???? Like, Ryutaro kinda just asks some questions about IRLkado's hobbies and stuff and IRLkado is like, "?? What hobbies?" And Ryutaro is like, "What do you mean you don't have hobbies? I'm getting you a hobby." And introduces him to Smash Bros. and the rest is history.
That being said, don't leave them alone for very long. Turns out that they both lack any sort of restraint together and do some pretty dumb stuff.
Teruya: "What did you do?!"
Mikado, sweating: "In my defense, I was left unsupervised."
Keisuke: "That's why we left Ryutaro with you?!!"
Ryutaro, also sweating: "In my defense, I was also left unsupervised-"
As for how Ryutaro found out about their relationship, he probably suspected it from the start but didn't want to say anything in case he was wrong. He didn't want to cause any trouble for them. And for all he knew, it could've been a really strong friendship, you know? But eventually he accidentally walks in on them kissing after a mission and realized, "OH, they really are dating," and just walks away. Even going as far as to steer Keisuke away cause he knows he would NOT keep this a secret from Kinjo. As long as they were happy and IRLkado isn't going to backstab them, this ain't any of his business. And, as time goes on, it became pretty clear to him that IRLkado has started regretted his past actions and crimes and is working his way to redemption. A goal he respects and supports alongside Teruya.
He just wishes he's not stuck as the third wheel so often.
As for his feelings on the kids, he's either this cool uncle that likes to spoil them whenever he visits, or he prefers not to hang out with them. Not because he doesn't like them but more because kids aren't really his thing? He'd rather hang out with someone his age. Still, if Teruya and IRLkado need a babysitter, Ryutaro is an option. Let's just hope he doesn't burn the house down in his poor attempts at cooking, though. He finds Shinra cool as hell, Eiki talks so much that he struggles to keep up, Hisano is a bit too quiet for his liking, he encourages Ryo's teenage rebellion, and Moriko gives him scary kid vibes like in those horror movies...until she pulls up a normal kids' movie and he realizes she's just Like That.
Midori Yamaguchi
According to LINUJ (a.k.a. the wiki), Midori belongs in the Neutral group, someone who doesn't think either side is right or wrong and would want everyone to try and understand each other's POVs. Or at least keep their wits about each other as they work together. So Midori is probably one of the few people that are actually pretty chill with IRLkado's introduction into the Kisaragi Foundation, although she wouldn't go out of her way to hang out with him since she knows he's still a dangerous criminal. Not until she does some pet sitting for Teruya and IRLkado since they can't always be home to take care of their cat, alongside Minako. (Btw, they have a cat, her name is Hina and she's an American Curl with only three legs due to one of them needing to be amputated due to an infected injury, and these cats have the best ears ever, look at them.) After that, they kind of just have small talk or just vibe whenever they hang out with Ryutaro. They play games, Midori teaches IRLkado how to do braids and such, and they kinda just...chill together. It's a friendship that mostly just develops in the background since they don't really hold much conflict with each other? Midori still holds him accountable for what he's done, but otherwise, she doesn't hold much judgment for him while they hang out and it's very...refreshing for IRLkado amongst a sea of people that would be more than okay if he were to kick the bucket due to his criminal status.
As for Teruya and IRLkado's relationship, again, she's pretty chill about it when she's told. Although she may be a bit of a shipper on deck for them. She's ultimately supportive but would probably set them up on a few dates if she could. She also loves their kids and probably played with them a few times. Depending on her illness and whether or not it's curable, I don't know how long she'd live to see them grow, but I like to think that she at least gets to meet them all once. Or was she just prone to constant sickness? Either way, she helps Shinra relax around doctors, lets Eiki talk to her about his interests, reads with Hisano, tries to steer Ryo away from rebellion (stop it, Ryutaro, stop), and tries to help Moriko with her sewing projects (they don't turn out well, but she's happy with it nonetheless).
Keisuke Iranami
Oh, he's definitely THE MOST against IRLkado being a part of the Kisaragi Foundation, simply because he's in the most agreement with Kinjo's orders as seen in SDRA2. He's supposedly a part of the "Hawks," too, which is the group that sides with Kinjo the most. So I think he'd hate criminals in general and feels pretty bound to the law and the orders he receives. So Keisuke does not trust him in the slightest and wished that Kinjo didn't allow him to work with them. But for the sake of the missions, he tries his best to keep opinions to himself and be amicable for the most part. But IRLkado can definitely tell that he doesn't like him, and frankly, neither does he, and the two of them just have this underlying beef with each other that just grows over time. Teruya is trying his best to mediate between them while Ryutaro is just standing there like, "Wow, this is the most I've ever seen you angry, Keisuke-" Cause IRLkado just brings out a different side to him that the cool-headed and sweet big brother Keisuke Iranami usually doesn't show around others simply because they are people he likes. But around someone he doesn't like? He can be quite cold! Which kinda alienates him from his own friends when sees that the rest of the 6.5 cast + Teruya (and eventually Rei) starts hanging out with IRLkado more and treats him like he's a friend, something he just...doesn't agree with. Especially since he had burned down an orphanage and hurt so many people, all to meet this one guy that was responsible for killing most of the 79th class, including his sister. He just...doesn't like him. Doesn't trust him at all.
And then it's revealed that Teruya and IRLkado have been dating this whole time. It...shocks him, to say the least. He doesn't lash out at Teruya like Kinjo and Rei do at the start, but he does put distance between them because he's struggling to wrap his head around the fact that the same kid that he's grown to see as a little brother, someone that was close to his sister, would fall in love and willingly enter a relationship with someone that had worshipped the very guy that killed Satsuki and traumatized them. So he just...stops talking to Teruya for a long time, following after Kinjo after he has his mental breakdown and taking care of him while he's in hiding as Dr. Ando makes it very clear that he can't be left alone as he is now. Spending those long months helping him and keeping him company gave him a lot to think about, and when Kinjo passes with only Teruya by his side, mostly out of pity for what little remained of their friendship, Keisuke...kinda realizes how much being a "Hawk" has distanced himself from his friends. They haven't really talked all that much lately and the more he spends time with other fellow "Hawks," the more he realized that their ideals seem quite...extreme to the point that he's usually left uncomfortable around them. He still agrees with them for the most part, but...is it really worth it if it means he'll alienate his friends from himself? If it means he'll be unhappy with himself in the long run if he continues to be stubborn? If he'll die (almost) all alone, like Kinjo? These thoughts scares him to the point that he ends up asking Rei for advice, feeling bad that an older brother like him is asking someone that's pretty much the same age as Satsuki. Rei frowns but tells it to him straight: sometimes there's an obvious right and wrong answer, but more often than not, the choices you're given aren't always right. Sometimes it's about choosing which one you consider to be the lesser evils and not everyone is going to agree on that. Even when two humans have similar beliefs, they may make different decisions depending on certain factors they considered. So it's natural to bud heads with other people. The problem comes when you refuse to hold yourself accountable for your own actions and the consequences that come with it. Tsurugi was constantly brushing off their criticisms and repeating his toxic behavior until it blew up in his face and they no longer gave him any more chances. That's why he ended up dying almost all alone: he kept testing his loved one's trust in him until it finally broke and drove them all away. Keisuke hasn't done anything to completely break his friends' trust in him yet (and the one time he risked it was when Yuki intervened so the worse case scenario never played out) and as long as he's willing to listen and talk to them about any kind of issues, he'll probably be fine in the long run. This advice helps Keisuke with his concerns and he thanks her before making some calls to Ryutaro and the others. Frankly, they were more upset that he rarely kept in touch with them while he was away, but they're glad to hear from him again. Relieved that he still has his friends, they all have a long discussion about where they stand and how things have been going on their end.
By the time the wedding happens, Keisuke is there as Ryutaro is probably IRLkado's Best Man (since he's one of his few friends in that support group and God help him with all those responsibilities) and he was invited by him. Things are! Very awkward! Between Keisuke and IRLkado as they barely got along when they were working together. But Keisuke just swallows down his wariness and apologizes for how he treated IRLkado back then, admitting that he didn't trust him, hell he still doesn't, but he's been way too harsh to him in the past among other things. IRLkado also apologizes, but carefully, saying that he understood why he acted the way he did, he was a criminal, after all. It just made it harder for him to be a better person when he was constantly on his case for every little thing. The two end their conversation on a truce, never truly becoming friends due to their different beliefs and history together, but ultimately burying the hatchet for a bit peace between them and the friends they share. As for the kids, Keisuke probably only interacts with them through Teruya and he tries his best to act like a cool uncle as he doesn't want to hurt them just because they're the kids of someone he had past beef with. He's constantly scolding Shinra for his pranks (which only encourages him to do it even more), sharing jokes with Eiki, trying to bond with Hisano but failing due to her interests being the opposite of his (fun and sweet VS horror and terror), keeping Ryo in line, and playing with Moriko as he shows her how to do acrobatics.
Minako Tomori
Minako's feelings on IRLkado were wary but otherwise indifferent. She knew he was a criminal, everyone does, and doesn't go out of her way to greet him. However, she also kinda doesn't care about what he's up to so long as he's not plotting anything that can hurt others, which means that she's a little bit more willing to have a conversation with him if it strikes her. It isn't until after she becomes a pet sitter that she extends an olive branch to him and the two of them start being friendly with one another. She's not sure how it happened, but IRLkado kinda starts approaching her for advice every now and then like she's someone to be looked up to, which she would laugh about cause her? A decent role model? That's hilarious, hahahaha, oh wait, he's serious. Minako needs a moment to process that cause while she has been working on herself on becoming a better person, she's still, well, herself. She doesn't really consider herself role model material after all the fuck ups she's done. But IRLkado actually sees her as a role model because she messed up. She messed up a lot, to herself and the people she loved. But she still took responsibility and broke away from her toxic behavior, choosing to work on herself and be better rather than to remain who she is. IRLkado goes to her for advice because she's probably the closest person who could understand his attempts at being a better person than anyone else, even though she never committed any crimes like he did. This gets her to soften up just a little bit, although she tells him not to follow her example to a T since she's still working on being better and her advice may not always be sound as her experiences in life were pretty shit, so that would cloud her judgment. IRLkado just says that he'll at least consider her advice and the two of them continue to hang out like usual.
As for Teruya and IRLkado's relationship? Ooooooh, she was on that shit since the beginning. Like, she was 90% sure they were dating, she doesn't know when, but she sure as hell knows that it's happening! The gossip over how close they are to each other and the possibility of their relationship doesn't slip by her either as she is a gossiper through and through, and Minako is just WAITING for the other shoe to drop. So when Teruya came to her for help and came clean about his relationship with IRLkado under the promise she'd keep it a secret, she immediately puts her hands up in the air and goes, "I FUCKING KNEW IT!!"
"Wha - You knew?!"
"I mean, I had my suspicions, but now that I know, Ryutaro owes me over three-thousand yen."*
"YOU WERE MAKING BETS?!"
(*About 20 US dollars.)
Minako doesn't tell anyone, she promised after all and she's not the kind of person to spread that around since it would get them into lots of trouble (and would technically out them). But she does take every opportunity to tease them whenever they hang out, much to both of their embarrassment. As for her reactions to the kids, she probably spoils them and treats them like any wine aunt would, although the kids probably see her more like a grandma than an aunt. She thinks Shinra is a lot of fun when he's not being a little shit towards her, Eiki annoys her sometimes with how lazy he can be, she tries to give advice to Hisano but she's constantly tuning her out due to their different views on appearances, Ryo is highly wary of her due to her past behavior even though Minako is genuinely trying to be better, and she dotes on Moriko every chance she gets.
Dr. Hikaru Ando
Fun Fact #2: the reason why IRLkado survived his encounter with Syobai is because his luck came in and Dr. Ando just so happened to cross paths with the same alleyway that he was dying in. So when he found him still breathing and barely clinging to life, Dr. Ando dropped everything he was doing to try and prolong his life until help arrived, which is how IRLkado ended up at the Kisaragi Foundation. If he wasn't there, IRLkado would have died and it's a miracle that he had pulled through to the very end. The thing is, though, Mikado Sannoji has been on the Kisaragi Foundation's radar for a while now due to the security breach in the data logs that allowed him to find out what happened to Utsuro. They didn't exactly know what he was plotting but the fact that he broke into their security in the first place was already a crime so they looked into him. Rei, of course, figures out that Mikado is a criminal that specializes in hacking, but has also done many other crimes under different identities, including murder, violence, and thievery (kidnapping is under AIkado's crimes). So he immediately became wanted under the Kisaragi Foundation's rule. Problem is, Dr. Ando did not realize who IRLkado was until AFTER he brought him into the Kisaragi Foundation for treatment. Oops. He still would've saved his life as he prioritizes his patients health and safety above all else, regardless of their background (the way Kanata interacted with the yakuza as she tries to treat them says a lot about what she learned from Dr. Ando), but he probably would've set up a lot more security measures if he knew right from the start. When he realizes who IRLkado is, he gives Kinjo a heads up and discusses what to do with him. He wants him to recover from his injuries first before they decide his sentence, but Kinjo insists on getting rid of him now since he won't be able to escape as he is now. Just as they start clashing over their beliefs, another piece of information is dropped into Kinjo's lap...and it turns out there's a second Mikado Sannoji running around which immediately confuses everyone in the room. Realizing that there's more to the situation than meets the eye, Kinjo relents in letting IRLkado live and Dr. Ando is relieved to know that his patient will live another day. He tries to keep things peaceful as IRLkado recovers and remains kind to him, but while he's grateful that he's alive and that Dr. Ando saved him, he doesn't trust him cause haha, this is the Kisaragi Foundation, which means he's in enemy territory now. By the time Dr. Ando gives the greenlight to allow IRLkado to rest up on his own without requiring a doctor's surveillance in the medical ward, that's when Kinjo intervenes and officially arrests IRLkado for his crimes, but also to interrogate him on what he knows about this second Mikado Sannoji. Dr. Ando isn't happy about this as IRLkado is still recovering, but he also knows that IRLkado has a lot to answer for in his past crimes, so he backs down under the belief that Kinjo will be careful with him.
He...ends up regretting this decision when Teruya comes back with IRLkado for a diagnosis and it became pretty clear that he hasn't been treated well in his cell ever since he was removed from his care. IRLkado was his patient, and, in a way, he failed him by allowing harm to come to him when he was still recovering. At least, that's how he sees things. Dr. Ando is very remorseful about this, and tries to make up for his oversight by caring for IRLkado every chance he gets and helps him with any medical problems he needs. IRLkado is obviously upset over Dr. Ando's role in the situation but is also conflicted cause he's both the one that saved him but also the one that indirectly got him arrested in the first place. They do eventually clear the air between them, though, with Dr. Ando apologizing for not doing more for him and IRLkado coming to an understanding as to why he allowed the arrest to happen in the first place even though his recovery wasn't fully completed after a bit of introspection and therapy. He was a criminal and had done horrible things in his pursuit of Utsuro, so he knew he didn't really have the right to be TOO upset about this. But awareness of his crimes wasn't the same as regretting them, and now that he's on the path of redemption, he realized that his grudge on the arrest wasn't really justified since his motivations were entirely selfish and hurt many people. So after unpacking all of that, he says it's okay and that Dr. Ando doesn't need to apologize since his role in the matter was small in the long run and he still did everything he could to help him with his health. After that, their relationship has become pretty amicable, comfortable even.
So when Teruya and IRLkado come out about their relationship to him, Dr. Ando is pretty chill about it. He even says that he thought something was going on between them, he just wasn't sure what. Which kinda kills Teruya on the inside cause that means a lot more people have noticed their behavior around each other than he realized. Dr. Ando has met all of their kids at least once as he gives medical advice to them, with Shinra being scared of him due to being a doctor and his trauma from being a lab rat which makes him kinda sad, Eiki telling him a bunch of fun facts about rocks during his visits to help him relax, Dr. Ando giving Hisano books on medicine to encourage her hobby, doing his best to be patient with Ryo (which is actually pretty easy since doctors are one of the few authority figures she's willing to openly respect), and Moriko gives him sewn lil duck figures every time she sees him. He puts them on his shelf for all to see. :]
And that's everyone, yahoooooo. *lays down for I spent at least a day working on this*
