Just finished this scarf last night - I knitted Juniper Moon Farm “Marlowe” in Fabulous (color 12) in garter stitch on size 9 needles and used a mix of mohairs for the fringe, including Knit Picks “Aloft” in Pennyroyal (color P903) and Queensland Collection “Caracara” in color 003.

Stash Spotlight: Juniper Moon Farm -Nimbus Paints
Happy Stitchin! I've been asked to share some of what's in my stash, so I'm starting a new section of the blog under the tag #yarn stash where I'll spend some dedicated time on what I have on hand or share some of my acquisitions with you.
Disclaimers: 1) I'll start off by sharing that I am NEW to my fiber arts journey. Some of what I plan to do here is learn. I don't pretend to be an expert, and if I get anything wrong, I invite you to let me know, just please do so kindly 2) Yarn stash size is dependent person to person - having a small one or large one does not make any one any less or more a crafter, and it's important for you to know what level "on-hand" is right for you. I find myself accepting that yarn collecting is a different hobby than crafting, and having yarns on hand to touch and feel and be inspired by brings me its own happiness. 3) Just like the yarn stash, what materials you choose to work with also doesn't make you any more or less a crafter than other materials. I use all sorts of yarn fibers and brands of hooks, needles, and extras, and I love them all.
Nimbus Paints - here at Juniper Moon Farm website
Tumblr media
I have three of the same colorway of Nimbus Paints which I saw in person and immediately was curious how they'd look up in crochet. The store I bought these from had a scarf on display, and it was soo lovely, but I felt a bit more difficult than my current knit skill set. There are only 6 colorways available, and the one I chose is called Sagtikos Boardwalk. It reminded me of a foggy morning, and I've been really gravitating towards greys lately. That soft grey caught my eye even before I saw the added plus of the green tucked away inside.
If you haven't clicked that link to Juniper Moon's website, I recommend you do so. While this is my first time using a yarn from their brand, I've heard of their yarns before, most especially "Cumulus", and I can't recommend their website more for learning about what they have and where to access it in your area. Besides the patterns and color names, I love that they also have the shades worked up to clearly see the gradients as well as an easy to use shop finder.
Nimbus is a Bulky Weight 5, 96% Israeli Mako Cotton, 4% Nylon, with the recommended care instructions to hand wash cold and lay flat to dry. Suggested is a US 9-11 (5.5-8mm) knitting needle or US K10.5-M13 (6.5-9mm) crochet hook to meet gauge.
One 100g ball is 164 yards/150m.
This is chainette yarn construction, and it is oh, so soft. You can see my squish test here:
It's pleasing to work with, and among the softer cottons. That said, if you are someone who doesn't like the feel of cotton there's no mistaking this yarn as anything else and it may not be for you.
As may be obvious, I started to work up yet another virus shawl with the three balls of Nimbus Paints I have. I don't usually work with bulky yarn, so it's been a delight having the piece work up as quickly as it is.
On to ball #2.

The Overflowing Heart
I will tell you how I made this witch’s token, but you will have to find a way of your own. It is as Grandmother Wren told us,
“Remember always that some portion of magic is yours to wield, and that the world contains many, many truths.”
the recipe:
3/4 oz Kazuki gin
1 1/2 oz. Sake + tea mixture
1 oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit
3/4 oz. Strega
shake over ice, and serve in your finest or favourite tea cup
garnish with dried rose petals
notes:
Sherringham Kazuki gin— a collaboration of one of my favourite distilleries and my favourite local tea shop, Westholme Tea Farm. Made from Japanese cherry blossoms, and locally grown tea leaves with notes of yuzu, grapefruit, and juniper. I first visited Sherringham in a trio of my own, on a day long adventure, visiting a beach someway up the island. Westholme is run by an old coworker of my Aunt’s, and his partner who makes gorgeous pottery. I could not put words to my excitement when I first heard whispers of their collaboration.
Sake + Tea Mixture— I can never fully recreate this just the same. There is magic in that, I think. I have little left. I made it by taking a sprinkling of the following teas from Westholme, and cold steeping them in a mason jar with a large ice cube, topped with sake and a splash of moon bathed witch water.
featuring:
Blossom: (jasmine green, floral), for the cottage’s calendar
Bi Luo Chun: (green, delicate and earthy), for i thought it was grown here, over seven long years (I rolled a nat 1 on my perception check)
Pur-eh: (fermented, earthy), for its mushroominess and it’s connection therin
Dog: (black assam, vanilla and cardamon, from the Chinese Zodic series), the cardamom pod and a few leaves, for our beloved Fox
Witch Water: the witch water used in this potion was bathed in the Friday, October 13th New Moon (a day so witchy I thought for sure the class would be released that day!) in an empty kazuki gin vessel
~
Grapefruit— because it was pink and in season and a citrus I love dearly
Strega— the witch liqueur! According to legend, Giuseppe Alberti was given the recipe for this elixir after saving a witch falling out of the sacred walnut tree, under which witches would convene to dance and perform their rituals.
for the cocktail chapter of the @worldsbeyondpod unofficial cookbook

I've played Fields of Mistria for over 35 hours now, and as a long-time fan of the Farming Sim genre (first played Harvest Moon 64 back in 2000) and a gamer who cut their teeth on the SNES, I really love it.
The art is exactly what I want in a farming game: cute, colorful, whimsical, pink--it's perfection.
The character interactions are really sweet and I have been LOVING the Friday Night mechanic where the townies all go to the Inn and talk to one another. I do wish my character could interact more in these little moments of town togetherness, but I love seeing the townspeople having their own lives. It's so great.
I do want Juniper and Valen to make out, yes.
I am winding up my first year on the farm so I'm probably going to put it down for a while so I'll be refreshed when the Q4 update comes out, but... well, maybe I won't. hehe.

As last year’s project was 22 in ‘22, this year’s is, apparently, going to be Twenty Twen-Teeth.
To wit: my luxury bones are borked. I have a 100% overbite, which is wearing my front teeth, top and bottom, down. They’re already several millimeters shorter than they used to be. This can be fixed! With braces!
…which is going to run me $6.5k.
🤦🏼‍♀️
Sooooo I am going to be pulling out various completed projects to sell, as well as making new ones for the same purpose. I figure if I sell a hundred things at $65 I’m golden. Or 65 things at $100.
Which means I’m setting my base minimum for all the things until further notice at $65, and happily entertain higher offers.
First up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crocheted in a 50/50 wool/silk from Juniper Moon Farm, this piece works great as a shawlette on the shoulders and even better as a scarf. I wore it to work today to hold off the chill of a 40F drizzly New England morning because I didn’t want to bother with a sweater. It is soft and comfortable against the skin, and has enough different colors in it to pair well with a variety of outfits.
I hate to let it go, actually, but as the closest one at hand it is first on the block. If you’re interest, please send an offer!
If you have any questions, have at it.
And if you see fit to share this for other potentially interested folks, thank you. 💜

You reblogged a dewy spiderweb photoset the other day and commented you made a shawl inspired by that once. Tell us about that, do you have pictures? 👀
I DO ACTUALLY okay so like here's the thing you gotta Understand about me, i get. Intense. about gifts. and when i had my Defining The Relationship conversation with my long-distance then-friend now-datemate (of now over four years!! i love them so much, i'm so happy :D) it happened in february of 2020, so uh. all of our travel plans were pretty immediately kaput due to covid. which meant that i was getting returns on interest on my pent-up first-meeting-in-person, and it had to go SOMEWHERE
so i uh. might. maybe. have gone slightly overboard making them a courting gift, while we waited.
they'd started using spider imagery for me as an endearment after a while of seeing the kinds of stuff i liked to make, so when i found this pattern on ravelry i got a little obsessed with it because doesn't it just vibe like a dewy spiderweb, though??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i had a good couple skeins of this really lovely llama/silk blend yarn (now tragically discontinued, RIP to juniper moon stargazer) that i had intended to use to make a cardigan for someone who ultimately blacklisted herself from my knitworthy-people list, but that's besides the point, because the POINT IS that i found myself staring at the ~1800 yards of it that i had, and the little jars of vintage wooden beads i'd picked up at a flea market ages ago, and uh. look. they didn't NOT remind me of a cute lil jumping spider when i sat them next to each other, is the thing, and the yarn was SO cozy soft, and uh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it turned out B I G
out of all that yardage i literally only had LESS THAN A FOOT left after the bind-off, so i think i pretty successfully won that round of yarn chicken XD
Tumblr media
i ended up going even MORE overboard with gifts when i did finally get to meet them in person, because in the meantime i'd made a cedar box with fancy grain matching to put the shawl in and decided THAT wasn't enough so i packed mugs, looseleaf tea, teaspoon measure, animal tea infusers, a family friend's homemade bread, homemade plum chutney, three kinds of cheese (two of which were from the dairy farm i worked at for a year), a cutting board to put all that on, fancy chocolates from the airport, a worksheet with measurements for a sweater to make them later, and a few other odds and ends, along with pillaging the landscaping around the hotel for greenery accents XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the funny part is, the way the room was laid out you couldn't immediately see the bed from right inside the doorway, it's around the corner to the left, so when they walked through the door and saw all this and were like "is this your version of a trail of rose petals leading to the bed? XD" i was like "wellllllll,"
Tumblr media
"maybe a little bit yeah :3"
and they just cracked up XD

First post on here but I wanted to share my finished Soho Top by Caidree
I started this in April and didn't finish it until the end of November 💀 But in my defense I was only knitting on it like once a week once I joined in the round.
I don't remember what size I knit tbh but I definitely could have sized down at least one size maybe two? My garment is 100% cotton so I might just wash it and throw it in the drier and hopefully it'll shrink to a good size? A little nervous about that idea because it's not terribly too big but I just need it to shrink width wise juuuuust a little bit.
The yarn I used is Juniper Moon Farm's Neve base in the color Valentine (color 23). It's 100% Pima Cotton. It's a very soft cotton yarn and it was nice to work with.
I knit it to pattern using the recommended needle size (i think 4 mm?). I did size up to a 5 mm for the bottom hem i-cord bind off because I was nervous about it not being elastic enough but I definitely didn't need to do that. I did a 4.5 mm needle instead for the i-cord edging on the arm and neck holes and I think that looks better.
I thought this was a size inclusive pattern but I just pulled up the PDF again to see what size I knit and it's not apparently 😔 that's confusing bc Caidree is normally pretty good about that???? oh well, i'll just double check next time.

New mitts! Two sets, but mom has taken one already.
Juniper Moon Farm, Cumulus Dappled in colorway Coral Coast. The Scrap Yarn Gloves... again. They are just so easy! And I was able to get two sets out of this one skein that I wasn't sure what to do with anyways.
Need to start moving onto Solstice projects real soon here, though! This pair of mitts is likely going to end up as an "oops, I didn't get you something" thing...

I am done with the shawl!
Tumblr media
I finished knitting it…
Tumblr media
…and blocked it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I purposefully blocked it wide rather than long. It’s now close to 32” wide and about 6 feet long.
The first picture on that table it’s just folded in half, after blocking it was folded in quarters.
I bought the yarn at Webs in August 2022 - 2 skeins of Juniper Moon Farm, Finley Dappled - color 153 (Sundance). I started knitting using the Botanical Lace Pattern on December 1, 2022. I finished it on October 30, 2023. A lot of that time it was knit in bursts and rests. Between July and October of this year I did 2 rows each day, but then I was getting excited and could see the end was getting close and did more than that on days I could get to it. Each rows is patterned (no plain purl across rows) and there were 660 rows. I started with about 200g of yarn and only have 1.6g left after bind off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The shawl feels like a small blanket, and kept me pretty warm in the cold, post-Halloween air. I look forward to using it over the fall/winter!
And of course, pup was there, always.

I wanted to play some Rags2Riches-style Ranch gameplay, but didn't feel like spending an hour or more making a new Sim, so I decided to go with a slightly edited version of Azure Keahi, who I originally made for the Jumping for Juniper Bachelorette Challenge. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Consider this an alternate universe!
Here's their new farm, optimistically named "Azure Dreams Ranch". A bit of flirting with their new neighbour Dani. They got a scarecrow to help them out with the garden, but Patchy turned out to be super mean, so I yeeted him. :\ Soon they were able to afford their first goat (appropriately named Goatzilla), and their first rescue horse, a fearful, aggressive, but intelligent Gelderlander filly named Moon Pie. :)

I’m SO here for the cow reclist please do it! 🤍🖤
Okay so it turns out niche reclists are really hard. I have no idea how you and @sitp-recs do it. A million kudos to everyone who does these. Anyway, thanks @mxlfoydraco for the nudge I needed to get this going! This one was inspired by a post I reblogged from @corvuscrowned about the universal truth that love is stored in cows. Without further ado,
DRARRY + COWS
Tumblr media
fics with the presence of at least one cow:
🍃 the treehouse near primrose downs (2022, M, 14k) by @softlystarstruck
Draco is sure his giddy joy is written all over his face, but he doesn’t care. He’s going to have a cozy magical house with his best friend, and he’s going to get cows.
🐮 Featured cows: Flora, baby Freya, and Felicity
I can't say enough good things about this fic. Not only does the word "cow" appear 41 times, but it is a central point in the story of Draco and Harry's gentle love for each other. When everyone else gets tired of Draco talking constantly about his cows, Harry listens. I am also in love with Mexican Harry exploring his heritage and also learning the harp (!!). A beautiful meditation of the kind of love that makes a friendship and a home.
⚡️ The Bolthole (2020, E, 54k) by @tepre, aideomai, and GallaPlacidia
"Harry, are you scared of cows?"
"No!"
“Because it seems as if you may be scared of cows,” said Draco, looking more and more amused.
“I’m not!”
“Is this your one weakness? Saving people, and… cows?”
“Fuck off!”
🐮 Featured cows: none by name, but several picturesque descriptions
This fic speaks for itself, but what I love most about it is the way it deals with grief. Harry is a hoarder; Draco is grieving. A gorgeous classic.
🌼 The Genesis Theory by @stationintern (WIP ch 6/13, 2023, M):
"I am aware that you're messing with me, Potter. You're laying it on pretty thick." Malfoy folded his arms, his lean frame only a few inches taller than Harry's. "I will milk the cow and do it without fear. Just to spite you."
🐮 Featured cows: Rosita the Undead Therapy Cow, Harriet, Juniper, and others
I am reccing this fic even though it's still a WIP because 1) The last update was a few days ago, 2) it's SO GOOD, and 3) there are named cows and mysterious necromantic flowers. Harry has a farm and keeps his life secret from the magical world, but slowly he begins to let Draco in. Go give the author some e(bull)ient praise!
Honourable Mentions (below the cut)
There are a surprising number of fics featuring farms but with no mention of cows. Curiouser and curiouser! Where did they go? It's a moo-stery. Of course, the reasonable explanation is that the farms are simply not cow farms (we'll ignore this for the present, because after all, these fics still have the lovely spirit of cows, and that's really what matters). So:
Here are a few fics involving drarry and farms:
Knead by @jovialobservationanchor: While there are no cows, Luna and Ginny's beautiful farm has thestrals, white bison, an erumpent, and a thunderbird.
Third Quarter Moon by pourcesalad: A nearly complete wip (you've been warned) featuring werewolf!Draco who works on a muggle farm, and a fascinating take on the treatment of werewolves in magical society.
Fruit Stand by @drarrily-we-row-along: Draco grows peaches and keeps bees. Breathtaking, soft, and tender.
In conclusion, the world is unfortunately deficient in drarry + cows fics. My dear writers, it would be so wonderful if there were more cows on your farms and in your steamy cowboy fics and on your roadtrips and countryside vistas (and if they had names)! Happy reading and if you have more cow-related fic recs, don't hesitate to moove those to the cowments.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What kind of video games would your characters like?
Wishing you the best <3
Ohhh, what a great question thank you so much for it!!
So With Love, Juniper is a historical romance so it does have video games, BUT if there was video games.
Oleander: Big sweeping epics and RPG's both western and eastern. Likes games like Baldur's Gate 3 and The Witcher--stuff like that. He also loves to play cozy farm games with Juniper and enjoys the occasional rhythm game too! Definitely someone who wants to be moved by the narrative of a game.
Juniper: Definitely cozy farm games. Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, Sunhaven--maybe Rune Factory if she's feeling very spicy. Or like little otome games, romance visual novels. Defintely stuff she can play from the comfort of her bed or a sofa or in the greenhouse while she's casting a sun charm. She also likes story-heavy rpgs, but always plays in story only mode because she gets really shaky during boss fights.
