Hidden in Plain Sight aka Wooyoung & San Being Idiots
Chapter 1: You Bloom on a Pure and Precious Canvas
Cross-posted on ao3
The rain drummed softly against the window, casting a soft, blurry glow over the practice room. San leaned against the wall, his chest rising and falling as he tried to catch his breath after the intense dance routine. His muscles ached, his mind was hazy, but none of that mattered. Across the room, Wooyoung stood with the others, laughing—head tilted back, eyes scrunched in that way they always did when he found something truly funny. San’s gaze lingered, watching the way Wooyoung’s smile seemed to light up the entire room.
Why am I staring? San thought, quickly looking away as a wave of embarrassment washed over him. His heart gave an uneasy thud in his chest, but he shook it off, blaming the exhaustion. He’d been working hard all day; surely that explained this strange feeling.
“You okay?” Yunho’s voice snapped San out of his thoughts. San looked up to find Yunho watching him with a raised eyebrow, a knowing smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
San cleared his throat, pushing himself off the wall. “Yeah, just tired.”
“Uh-huh,” Yunho hummed, clearly unconvinced. He shot a glance toward Wooyoung, who was still laughing with Mingi and Seonghwa. “You’ve been staring at him a lot lately.”
San’s stomach flipped. “I’m not staring,” he muttered, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks. He brushed past Yunho, heading toward his water bottle as casually as he could manage.
Yunho followed, grinning. “Whatever you say, man.”
Wooyoung’s laughter echoed through the room again, drawing San’s attention despite his best efforts to stay focused on anything else. Mingi was making some ridiculous joke, and Wooyoung was practically doubled over, his hand resting on Seonghwa’s shoulder for support. San couldn’t help but smile, the corners of his lips twitching despite his attempt to play it cool.
He reached for his water bottle, taking a long sip to distract himself. It’s nothing, he told himself. I’m just tired.
Across the room, Hoonjong finally stood, wiping sweat from his brow with an annoyed look on his face. “Are we done yet?” he groaned, stretching his arms above his head. “Some of us want to go home before midnight.”
“We still have the last part of the choreography to run through,” Seonghwa reminded him calmly, ever the responsible one. “But we can take a break for now.”
Wooyoung, always full of energy, jumped up from where he was sitting and flashed a grin in Hoonjong’s direction. “Come on, hyung, don’t be like that. We’re almost done!”
“Easy for you to say,” Hoonjong grumbled. “You’re not the one with sore knees.”
“You’re just old,” Wooyoung teased, making the others laugh.
San chuckled along with them, but his mind wandered again. Watching Wooyoung joke around so freely made something in his chest tighten. It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen this before—Wooyoung was always like this, playful and carefree. But lately, San had been noticing him more. It was small things, really: the way Wooyoung’s smile made his heart skip a beat, or how his laugh sent a warm feeling through him.
“San!” Wooyoung’s voice snapped him back to the moment. He blinked, realizing Wooyoung was calling his name from across the room. “You good over there?” Wooyoung asked, tilting his head with a teasing grin. “You look like you’re about to fall asleep on your feet.”
San forced a smile. “Just tired.”
“Well, wake up! We still have one more round of practice before we’re free!” Wooyoung flashed him a wink before turning back to Mingi, leaving San standing there, heart racing for reasons he couldn’t quite explain.
The cool evening air wrapped around them as San and Wooyoung walked home from practice. The rain had slowed to a soft drizzle, tapping gently against the sidewalk, and the quiet hum of the city at night filled the space between them. They’d been walking like this for years, side by side, the comfortable silence between them never feeling awkward or forced. But tonight, San couldn’t shake the strange tension settling in his chest.
“You’re way too quiet, San,” Wooyoung said, nudging him playfully with his elbow. “You sure you’re not falling asleep on me?”
San chuckled, shaking his head. “Just thinking.”
Wooyoung glanced at him, his dark eyes glinting with curiosity under the streetlights. “Thinking? About what?”
San hesitated. What am I thinking about? He could barely even answer the question himself. Lately, his thoughts seemed to be all over the place, especially when Wooyoung was around. He wasn’t sure when it had started, but there were these moments—small, insignificant moments—when his heart would skip a beat or his breath would catch, and Wooyoung would be the reason. The feeling always crept up on him when he least expected it, leaving him confused and off-balance.
“Just practice,” San lied, staring ahead, watching the rain mist in front of them. “I guess I’m a little tired.”
Wooyoung grinned, throwing an arm around San’s shoulders. “You? Tired? I don’t believe it.” He gave San a squeeze, the warmth of his touch radiating through San’s hoodie, making his skin tingle. “You were killing it today. Even Hoonjong had to admit it.”
San laughed, trying to ignore the way his pulse quickened at the simple contact. “That’s a first,” he muttered, grateful for the distraction. He could feel the weight of Wooyoung’s arm resting casually on his shoulder, the way Wooyoung’s body leaned into his as they walked. It should’ve felt normal—after all, they were always close like this—but tonight, it felt different.
“You were pretty good, too,” San said, trying to focus on the conversation. “I don’t know how you have so much energy all the time.”
Wooyoung laughed, his breath visible in the chilly night air. “It’s called pure talent, my friend.”
San rolled his eyes but smiled, letting the conversation flow easily between them. Yet, no matter how much he tried to distract himself, his mind kept wandering back to the feeling of Wooyoung’s arm around him, the casual closeness that suddenly felt like something more.
They stopped at a crosswalk, waiting for the light to change, and Wooyoung dropped his arm, stepping back slightly. The absence of his touch left San feeling oddly cold, and he shoved his hands into his pockets to ward off the feeling.
“You’ve been serious all day, you know that?” Wooyoung said, tilting his head as he looked at San. “What’s up?”
San blinked, caught off guard by the question. “I’m not being serious,” he mumbled, suddenly defensive. “I told you, I’m just tired.”
Wooyoung raised an eyebrow but didn’t push it. “If you say so,” he said, though his tone was teasing. “You’re like an old man sometimes. I swear, you’re the only one who actually looks forward to going to bed after practice.”
San laughed, though it felt a bit forced. Why does he notice these things? he wondered. His heart raced again, unbidden, and he quickly looked away, staring at the ground as they crossed the street.
They walked in silence for a few moments, the quiet settling between them once more. San’s mind raced, though—his thoughts spiraling. Why was he acting like this? Why did everything feel so different all of a sudden? Wooyoung was his best friend. They had always been close, always comfortable with each other. So why was he suddenly so hyperaware of everything Wooyoung did?
This is normal, San tried to tell himself, though he didn’t entirely believe it. It’s just because we’ve been spending so much time together.
But even as the thought crossed his mind, he knew it wasn’t the full truth. Something had changed—he just wasn’t sure what. And the more he tried to push the feeling away, the stronger it became.
They finally reached the dorm, and Wooyoung fumbled with his keys as they stood under the awning, the soft sound of rain filling the silence.
“You heading straight to bed?” Wooyoung asked, flashing San a grin as he unlocked the door. “Or are you gonna stick around and hang out for a bit?”
San hesitated. Normally, he’d jump at the chance to hang out with Wooyoung. They’d stay up late talking about nothing and everything—about music, dreams, and life. But tonight, the idea of spending more time alone with him felt overwhelming, the air between them heavy with something unspoken.
“Actually, I think I’m going to turn in early,” San said, his voice quieter than usual. He wasn’t sure if he could handle the way his heart sped up every time Wooyoung smiled at him tonight.
Wooyoung gave him a mock pout, though there was a hint of genuine disappointment in his eyes. “You’re really living up to the old man reputation tonight, huh?”
San laughed, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I’ll catch you tomorrow.”
Wooyoung shrugged, stepping inside. “Alright, alright. But if you miss anything good, don’t blame me.”
As Wooyoung disappeared down the hallway, San let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. He stood in the doorway for a moment, staring after him, his thoughts a whirlwind of confusion.
What’s happening to me?
Later that week after another long day of practice the dorm kitchen buzzed with the usual post-practice chaos as the members gathered for dinner. Mingi and Jonhgo were bickering over who got to choose the playlist, Hoonjong was grumbling about the takeout portions being too small, and Seonghwa was patiently handing out plates like a calm mother amidst the mayhem. San sat at the table, staring at the food in front of him, but his mind was elsewhere.
Wooyoung, as always, was in the center of it all. He was currently trying to convince Mingi that his music choices were, in fact, superior, all while sneaking pieces of food from Jonhgo’s plate.
“You’re always stealing my food!” Jonhgo whined, trying to swat Wooyoung’s hand away. “Eat your own!”
“Yours tastes better,” Wooyoung said with a grin, popping a piece of chicken into his mouth.
Mingi, oblivious to the chaos, turned to San, who had been quietly watching from the sidelines. “San, help me convince them that I have the best taste in music.”
San blinked, pulled from his thoughts. “Huh?”
Mingi laughed, nudging San with his elbow. “Come on, San! Don’t tell me you’re zoning out on us. You’ve been weird all day.”
San forced a smile, trying to shake off the cloud of confusion that had been hanging over him. “I’m not zoning out,” he mumbled, picking at his food. “Just tired.”
Seonghwa, ever the peacemaker, smiled gently at San as he set the last plate down. “We’ve all had a long day. Don’t push yourself too hard, San.”
San nodded, grateful for Seonghwa’s understanding tone, though he couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. It wasn’t really exhaustion that was making him act strange—it was the swirling thoughts in his head, the ones he didn’t know how to explain, even to himself.
Meanwhile, Wooyoung had plopped down in the chair next to him, leaning back with a satisfied grin. “You really are acting like an old man tonight, San.”
San shot him a playful glare, though his heart skipped a beat at the proximity. Wooyoung was sitting so close that their arms brushed, and San had to resist the urge to pull away. Why does it feel different? He wondered for what felt like the hundredth time that day.
“I’m not an old man,” San grumbled, trying to keep his voice light. “I just don’t have endless energy like you.”
“Hyung, you have to admit, Wooyoung’s got a point,” Jonhgo chimed in with a smirk. “You’ve been so serious lately.”
San rolled his eyes, but his stomach twisted uncomfortably. Were they all noticing? He tried to laugh it off, but the weight in his chest didn’t go away. “I’m always serious,” he joked, though the words felt hollow.
Mingi, always clueless but well-meaning, leaned forward with a bright grin. “Maybe San is secretly in love!” he declared, loud enough for everyone to hear.
The room went silent for a split second before erupting in laughter. Wooyoung threw his head back, laughing so hard he nearly fell out of his chair, while Jonhgo snickered into his drink. Even Seonghwa smiled, though he shook his head in quiet amusement.
San felt his face burn, the heat creeping up his neck as everyone continued to laugh at Mingi’s joke. He forced a laugh, hoping it didn’t sound too nervous, and quickly took a sip of water to avoid responding. If only you knew, he thought, heart pounding in his chest.
Hoonjong groaned, waving his chopsticks at the group. “I don’t care if he’s in love or just tired. Can we please focus on eating? I want to get to bed before midnight.”
“You’re always so grumpy, hyung,” Wooyoung teased, nudging him with his foot under the table. “Maybe you’re the old man.”
“I’m not the one who’s acting weird all night,” Hoonjong shot back, eyeing San for a moment before going back to his food. “But whatever. Eat and let’s get this over with.”
Wooyoung turned to San with a mischievous grin, his eyes sparkling under the dim kitchen lights. “Ignore him. He’s just jealous he can’t be as youthful and energetic as us.”
San chuckled, but inside, his heart was racing again. Every little thing Wooyoung did seemed to set off something inside him, and no matter how much he tried to ignore it, the feeling was getting stronger. He watched as Wooyoung turned back to his plate, a soft smile tugging at his lips. This isn’t normal, San thought, a knot of anxiety forming in his stomach.
But he couldn’t let the others see that. He had to act normal, even though he was anything but.
“San!” Mingi’s voice cut through San’s thoughts again. “You still haven’t told me—who has better taste in music? Me or Wooyoung?”
San blinked, feeling like he’d missed half the conversation. “Uh… neither of you.”
Wooyoung gasped dramatically, clutching his chest. “How could you say that, San? After all we’ve been through?”
Mingi pouted, crossing his arms. “I thought you were on my side.”
San laughed, finally feeling the tension in his chest loosen. This was familiar—this banter, this light-hearted teasing. Maybe if he just kept his mind focused on this, he could forget about the way Wooyoung made his heart race.
“Don’t drag me into this,” San said, grinning. “You both have terrible taste.”
The room erupted into playful groans and protests, and for a brief moment, everything felt normal again. But even as they joked and laughed, San couldn’t shake the feeling that something between him and Wooyoung had changed, even if he wasn’t ready to admit it yet.
The quiet of his room wrapped around San like a comforting blanket, but tonight, the silence felt heavier than usual. He lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, the sound of distant rain softly tapping against the window. Normally, this was his favorite time of the day—when everything settled, and he could let his mind wander. But tonight, his thoughts weren’t peaceful; they were tangled, chaotic.
Wooyoung’s laughter echoed in his head, clear as day, even though it had been hours since they’d all sat together at the dinner table. San sighed, rolling over onto his side, hugging his pillow close. He squeezed his eyes shut, hoping sleep would come and give him some relief. But instead of drifting off, his mind replayed every moment from the day.
Why does it bother me so much? he thought for what felt like the hundredth time. He could still feel the way his heart had raced when Wooyoung sat next to him at dinner, how the simple brush of their arms had sent a jolt of warmth through his entire body. It wasn’t the first time, either. Lately, Wooyoung seemed to have this effect on him, but San didn’t understand why. They’d been close for years—best friends, practically brothers—so why did everything feel different now?
It’s just because we spend so much time together, he told himself, flipping onto his back again. That’s all it is. We’re always together.
But the excuse felt hollow. They had always spent a lot of time together, but San had never felt like this before. His heart had never raced just because Wooyoung laughed, or because he sat a little too close. It had never bothered him when Wooyoung talked about his dates or when he teased San for being too serious. But now, every little thing Wooyoung did seemed to make San’s chest tighten in a way he didn’t fully understand.
San groaned softly, running a hand over his face. Get it together, he told himself. It’s just Wooyoung.
But that was the problem, wasn’t it? It was Wooyoung. The same Wooyoung who had been his best friend through thick and thin. The same Wooyoung who was so carefree, always laughing, always smiling, making everything seem so simple. But now, being around him felt… complicated. It felt like there was something more lurking just beneath the surface, something San couldn’t name but felt all the same.
His phone buzzed on the nightstand, pulling him out of his thoughts. He reached over and grabbed it, squinting at the screen in the dim light.
A text from Wooyoung.
Still awake, old man?
San smiled despite himself. Even through the phone, Wooyoung’s teasing tone was clear. He typed back quickly.
Barely.
The response came almost immediately.
We should watch a movie. I can’t sleep.
San hesitated. Normally, he wouldn’t think twice about it. They’d done this countless times before—staying up late, watching movies until they both passed out. But tonight, the thought of being alone with Wooyoung, even just over the phone, made him feel uneasy. He could already imagine Wooyoung’s laugh ringing through his headphones, his playful comments keeping San on edge.
I’m too tired tonight, San typed, his fingers lingering over the keyboard. Maybe tomorrow.
There was a longer pause before Wooyoung’s next message came through.
You’re no fun, it read, followed by a sad emoji.
He hated lying to Wooyoung, even about something as small as this. But he just couldn’t do it tonight. He couldn’t handle the way his heart sped up whenever Wooyoung’s name appeared on his screen, or the way his thoughts seemed to spiral out of control whenever Wooyoung was near.
It’s fine, San told himself. It’s just a phase. I’ll get over it.
But as he lay there in the dark, the rain still tapping gently against the window, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something had shifted. Something inside him had changed, and no matter how much he tried to ignore it, he knew that it wasn’t going away.
San rolled onto his back again, staring up at the ceiling. His chest felt tight, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t push the thoughts away. Wooyoung’s smile, his laugh, the way he always seemed to know exactly how to make San feel at ease. And then there was the way San’s heart reacted to him, the way his breath caught whenever Wooyoung looked at him a certain way.
Why now? San wondered, frustration gnawing at him. Why am I noticing this now?
The thoughts spun around his head like a storm, and no matter how much he wanted to, San couldn’t escape them. Sleep wasn’t coming tonight, and he knew it. He grabbed his phone again, staring at Wooyoung’s message for a long moment before closing it, tossing the phone back onto his nightstand.
He didn’t have answers tonight. And even if he did, San wasn’t sure he was ready to face them.
The dorm was quieter than usual the next morning, the rain from the night before had left a cool, misty chill in the air. Wooyoung bounded into the living room, as full of energy as ever, a wide grin plastered across his face. He’d just come back from his morning jog, and despite the early hour, he looked like he hadn’t broken a sweat.
San, on the other hand, sat on the couch nursing a cup of coffee, still trying to shake off the weight of last night’s restless thoughts. His head felt foggy, but he forced a small smile when Wooyoung dropped onto the couch beside him.
“Morning, sunshine,” Wooyoung said cheerfully, nudging San’s shoulder. “You look like you barely slept.”
San snorted, taking a sip of his coffee. Barely slept was an understatement. “I didn’t,” he admitted, staring into his cup. “You know how it is.”
“You should’ve joined me for that movie,” Wooyoung teased, leaning back against the couch, and stretching his arms out. “Would’ve helped you sleep, probably.”
San shook his head, hiding his smile behind the rim of his mug. It would’ve kept me up even longer, he thought, but didn’t say. Instead, he just shrugged. “Maybe next time.”
Wooyoung pouted in mock disappointment, his lips forming a small, dramatic frown. “You’re no fun lately. You’re always tired. What’s going on with you?”
San’s heart stuttered in his chest, but he kept his expression neutral, taking another long sip of coffee to buy himself time. “Nothing. Just… a lot on my mind, I guess.”
Wooyoung didn’t seem to notice the weight behind San’s words. He sat up suddenly, eyes brightening. “Oh, right! I forgot to tell you—I’ve got a date tonight.”
San’s stomach dropped, his coffee suddenly tasting bitter on his tongue. He forced a casual nod, though inside he felt his pulse quicken. “Another one?”
“Yeah,” Wooyoung said, grinning. “This one seems really cool, actually. We’ve been texting for a while, and I think it’s gonna be fun.”
The excitement in Wooyoung’s voice sent a strange pang through San’s chest. He knew he should feel happy for his friend—Wooyoung deserved someone who made him smile like that. But all San felt was a tightening in his throat, an uncomfortable mix of jealousy and confusion he couldn’t quite untangle.
“That’s… great,” San managed, setting his coffee down on the table, his fingers tapping nervously against the ceramic mug. “Where are you taking them?”
“Just a café downtown,” Wooyoung replied, leaning back with a relaxed sigh. “You know, something casual. Don’t want to make it too serious, you know?”
San nodded, trying to keep his thoughts from spiralling. Wooyoung was always going on dates, always meeting new people. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. But for some reason, this time, it felt different. This time, the idea of Wooyoung sitting across from someone else, laughing and smiling, made something inside San twist painfully.
“Maybe this one will work out,” Wooyoung continued, sounding hopeful. “I don’t know, there’s just something different about them.”
San bit the inside of his cheek, willing himself to say something supportive, but the words felt stuck in his throat. Instead, he just nodded again, his chest heavy with emotions he didn’t know how to deal with.
“You should really come out with us sometime,” Wooyoung said suddenly, turning to San with a mischievous grin. “You’ve been holed up in this dorm too much. You need to live a little.”
San forced a chuckle, shaking his head. “Nah, I’m good.”
“Come on, it’ll be fun! I’ll set you up with someone!” Wooyoung’s eyes lit up with excitement at the idea, completely oblivious to the internal turmoil brewing inside San. “You could use a date.”
San’s heart skipped a beat, and he had to look away, focusing on a spot on the floor as he fought to keep his expression neutral. “I’m not really into that right now.”
Wooyoung raised an eyebrow, looking genuinely surprised. “Really? You used to go out all the time. What’s changed?”
You, San thought immediately, but the words never left his lips. Instead, he shrugged, feigning nonchalance. “I guess I’m just not interested anymore.”
Wooyoung stared at him for a moment, as if trying to figure out what was really going on. But then, with a small, playful smile, he nudged San’s arm again. “Fine, be boring. I’ll have enough fun for both of us.”
San laughed weakly, feeling a strange mix of relief and frustration. How could Wooyoung be so completely oblivious? San’s thoughts were spinning out of control, his heart pounding in his chest every time Wooyoung so much as smiled at him, and yet Wooyoung remained as carefree as ever, completely unaware of the storm building inside San.
It’s better this way, San told himself, though the thought didn’t bring much comfort. It’s just a phase. I’ll get over it.
Wooyoung stretched his arms above his head, yawning dramatically. “Anyway, I’m gonna grab a shower before practice. Wish me luck for tonight.”
San nodded, forcing a smile. “Good luck.”
Wooyoung grinned, standing up and heading toward the hallway. “Thanks, hyung. Don’t wait up for me.”
San watched him go, the pit in his stomach growing heavier with each step Wooyoung took. He leaned back against the couch, staring blankly at the wall in front of him.
Don’t wait up for me.
San closed his eyes, letting out a long breath. He didn’t know what was worse—the fact that Wooyoung didn’t realize what was going on inside San’s heart, or the fact that San couldn’t tell him.
The practice room was buzzing with activity as the members stretched and prepared for another long day of rehearsals. San moved through the routine on autopilot, his body going through the motions while his mind remained miles away. He couldn’t stop thinking about Wooyoung’s date later that evening, and it gnawed at him in a way he didn’t know how to process.
“Alright, take five,” Hoonjong announced, his voice echoing through the room. “We’ll run it again in a few minutes.”
San exhaled a sigh of relief, grabbing a towel and heading for the corner of the room. He wiped the sweat from his face, trying to shake off the tension, but it clung to him like a second skin. His chest still felt tight, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t push away the thoughts of Wooyoung laughing with someone else tonight.
“Hey,” Yunho’s voice came from beside him. San looked up to find his friend leaning casually against the wall, watching him with an amused smile. “You good?”
San nodded quickly, though the movement felt stiff and unconvincing. “Yeah, just tired. You know how it is.”
Yunho gave him a long, knowing look. He wasn’t buying it. “You’ve been saying that a lot lately. Something’s up.”
San bit the inside of his cheek, avoiding Yunho’s gaze. He wanted to brush it off, to tell Yunho he was just overthinking things, but the weight of it all pressed down on him. Instead, he just shrugged.
“Come on,” Yunho said, sitting down beside him. “We’ve known each other too long for you to try and lie to me. Is this about Wooyoung?”
San froze, his heart skipping a beat. “What? No, it’s—why would it be about him?”
Yunho raised an eyebrow, a small smirk tugging at his lips. “You’ve been staring at him like he’s the last snack on the table all week. If you think I haven’t noticed, you’re more tired than I thought.”
San’s face flushed with heat, and he immediately looked away, fidgeting with the towel in his hands. “It’s not like that,” he mumbled, though even he didn’t believe the words.
“Sure it’s not,” Yunho said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Look, man, I’m not judging. I just think you should be honest with yourself.”
San shook his head, his thoughts a jumbled mess. He couldn’t admit it—not to Yunho, not even to himself. “It’s nothing. I’m just… tired.”
Yunho sighed, leaning back against the wall. “Alright, keep telling yourself that. But if you ever want to talk about it, you know I’m here, right?”
San nodded, grateful for Yunho’s patience. But still, he couldn’t bring himself to say the words out loud. He wasn’t ready to face whatever it was that had been bubbling up inside him, and talking about it with Yunho would make it too real.
Across the room, Wooyoung was chatting animatedly with Yeosang, oblivious to the internal battle raging inside San.
Wooyoung grinned as he leaned closer to Yeosang, his voice full of excitement. “I’ve got a date tonight. Think this one’s going to be different.”
Yeosang shot him a tired look, leaning against the mirror as he crossed his arms. “You’ve said that the last three times.”
“This one’s different,” Wooyoung insisted, ignoring the dry tone in Yeosang’s voice. “We’ve been texting for weeks, and they seem really cool.”
Yeosang sighed, shaking his head. “You always say that, and then you come back here complaining about how it didn’t work out.”
Wooyoung laughed, shrugging. “Well, maybe that’s because I haven’t met the right person yet.”
Yeosang’s eyes flickered toward San, who was sitting with Yunho on the other side of the room. His gaze lingered for a moment before he turned back to Wooyoung. “Maybe you’re not looking in the right places.”
Wooyoung tilted his head, frowning. “What do you mean?”
Yeosang hesitated for a second before shaking his head. “Never mind,” he muttered. “You’re too oblivious to get it anyway.”
Wooyoung blinked, confused. “Get what?”
Yeosang sighed again, his patience clearly running thin. “Nothing. Just… don’t get too caught up in this one. You know how you are.”
Wooyoung pouted, crossing his arms. “Why are you being such a downer? You should be happy for me.”
Yeosang looked at him, his expression softening just a little. “I just don’t want you to get hurt again. That’s all.”
Wooyoung grinned, throwing an arm around Yeosang’s shoulders. “I appreciate the concern, but I’ll be fine. I’m always fine.”
Yeosang rolled his eyes but didn’t push further. “Yeah, well, just don’t come crying to me when it doesn’t work out.”
“It will,” Wooyoung said confidently. “This time’s different.”
Yeosang didn’t say anything in return, but his eyes drifted once again toward San, watching as his friend tried—and failed—to keep his composure.
Later that day, the group gathered in the dorm after practice. The atmosphere was more relaxed, with everyone sprawled out on the couches and floor, chatting about everything and nothing. But the tension between San and Wooyoung hadn’t gone unnoticed by the others.
Hoonjong stretched his arms above his head, letting out a dramatic groan. “I don’t get it. How long are we going to keep pretending that there isn’t something weird going on between those two?”
Jonhgo, who had been silently observing all day, smirked. “It’s painfully obvious, isn’t it?”
Yeosang nodded, leaning back against the armrest of the couch. “Wooyoung’s completely clueless, as usual.”
“And San looks like he’s about to combust every time Wooyoung’s within five feet of him,” Yunho added with a chuckle. “It’s almost painful to watch.”
Hoonjong groaned again, rubbing his temples. “Why do they have to make this everyone’s problem?”
Seonghwa, who had been listening quietly, smiled softly. “They’ll figure it out when they’re ready. Just give them time.”
“I don’t have time,” Hoonjong grumbled, earning a laugh from the others. “I’m going to go gray before they finally admit what’s going on.”
“I don’t think Mingi’s even noticed,” Jonhgo pointed out with a grin.
“I guarantee he hasn’t,” Yeosang said, chuckling. “He’s too busy living in his own little world.”
“Well, someone needs to say something,” Hoonjong insisted. “This is getting ridiculous.”
“They’ll figure it out,” Seonghwa repeated, his calm demeanor never faltering. “You can’t rush these things.”
Hoonjong sighed, flopping back on the couch. “I’m not rushing. I just don’t want to suffer in silence any longer.”
“Don’t worry, hyung,” Jonhgo teased. “We’ll all suffer together.”

Meet the Authors
Ha ha embarrassing it’s been almost 4 years of kbandtrash and I don’t think we’ve ever done this
General introduction? We just like writing lol. Everything we write is pretty clean (no smut, kissing is the farthest we go like not even making out usually, we don’t even use curse words lol) so generally this should be a pretty safe space for anyone
I’ll start with a more personal introduction
Rachel
Hopeless romantic, happy ending enthusiast, designated karaoke harmonizer, made the deadline to be a ‘99 liner by 2 weeks ✌️😗
The initial Instigator between the two of us. My roommate introduced me to day6 May of 2019 and Megan (formerly annoying little sister who used to do anything to get me to notice her) was the only one who believed me (mean older sister) when I told my family this kband stuff was pretty good
Bands I listen to (and biases): N.Flying (Seunghyub), Day6 (Sungjin), The Rose (Dojoon), IZ (Hyunjun), CNBlue (Yonghwa), FTIsland (Hongki), Onewe (ot5), Lucy (ot4), Hifi Unicorn (Kiyoon), Xdinary Heroes (Gaon, Junhan)
(Plus Hoppipolla, Gift, Qwer, Banduni, Rolling Quartz, Honeyst, Marmello, D.Coy)
Groups I listen to: Dreamcatcher (Dami), Oneus(? complicated rn) (Hwanwoong), Seventeen (S.Coups, Vernon), SF9 (Chani, Hwiyoung), Ateez (Hongjoong, Mingi), Stray Kids (Seungmin, Chan), P1Harmony (Jiung)
(Plus Pentagon, Purple Kiss, Tempest, &Team, Enhypen)
(I also have a huge crush on D.O. and I love Younha)
Extra notes? I have a degree in secondary math education. I also have a decent amount of skill in the arts though like I sing and play a handful of instruments and you’ll see me reblog stuff here from my art blog sometimes. I can read/write half decent Korean as well
Currently playing: Blue Moon by N.Flying, Eternal Sunshine by Ateez, Ah! Love by Seventeen, Better Better by Day6, and Nowhere by FTIsland
I now turn the time over to Megan
Megan
Hopeful romantic, sad ending enthusiast, designated karaoke melodizer (not a boring soprano tyvm), born smack dab in the middle of 2006 🤩💅
The current Instigator between the two of us. I hesitantly took hold of the kband stuff and then it exponentially increased. My kpop Spotify playlist is 176 hours long (3127 songs). Please send help 😨
K bands: CNBLUE (Minhyuk), Xdinary Heroes (O.de/Junhan), N.Flying (Hweseung), Day6 (Wonpil), FTISLAND (Jaejin), Lucy (Wonsang), Onewe (Kanghyun), IZ (Junyoung), Gift, Hoppipolla, The Rose (Hajoon), Rolling Quartz, Honeyst, Marmello
K boy groups: Ateez (Wooyoung), Shax, Sparkling, P1Harmony (✨Jeongseob✨), Seventeen (Hoshi), Kingdom (Mujin), SF9 (Taeyang), CIX (Yonghee), Oneus (Leedo), Golden Child (Joochan), ACE (Donghun), The Boyz (Q), Stray Kids (Jeongin), TXT (Taehyun), Pentagon (Yuto), Shinee (Key), AB6IX (Woojin), Astro (MJ), Enhypen (Niki), Drippin (Dongyun), BDC, WEi (Yongha), Cravity (Seongmin), BtoB (Changsub), NCT (Haechan), Tempest (Hanbin), Monsta X (Kihyun), Just B (Bain), Got7 (Youngjae), Epex (Ayden), BAE173 (Hangyul), Mirae (Dongpyo), iKon (Junhoe), X1, Wanna One, Victon (Byeongchan), E’last

Soloists: Kang Daniel, IU, Woodz, Kim Hanbin, Eric Nam, Lee Hongki
Extra notes? I like learning languages and I love music and I’m permanently tired and I’m a Musical Theatre Kid and I’m about to graduate high school? Crazy
Currently Playing: One Time by CNBLUE, Halazia by Ateez, Love Me for Me by P1Harmony, Stereotype by Stayc, and Fallin’ Flower by Seventeen

2PM Reaction:
Werewolf meeting their mates....
A/N:- Here is the awaited second part of this reaction... So, sorry for the delay. I hope you will all like it!! Gifs aren't mine.. enjoy!
Part 2
Wooyoung- Zeta
OH?! How could I forget that Wooyoung too is a part of the 'i have too much work to find a mate' category along with Taecyeon and Jun...
Wooyoung is the Zeta wolf or war general. The Zeta wolves are entrusted to plan out the war strategies and trainning of the pack with Delta wolves and the omegas who join in. Along with that they always keep a guard at the territories along with Alpha and because of the continuous training and warfare practices, they are quiet aggressive after the Alpha in nature.
So, all the wolves in lower ranks try best to not get on their aggressive side.. This might have also raised a question that if they are aggressive, then what about their mates? Nope, they aren't agressive but like wrapped around the pinky finger of their mates as much as they wanna deny this but they are too soft.
Wooyoung met his mate at the University where he was a TA and student studying ancient military warfare (See his dedication as a war general) while she was a clinical psychology student. So, how did you two meet or should I say he found you out? Let's just say that both of your proffessors played the roles of cupid.
Since, psychology also talks and discusses about various practices people did in ancient times when people had little to no knowledge about psychological disorders especially when it came to general folks or when how to confront soldiers who witnessed mass killings or massacre and Military warfare spoke of various strategies, techniques and some recounts of emotional experiences the proffessors thought this would be a great idea to do a research project on it and guess what, you two were paired together.
Things were okay between both you as you didn't like to talk that much unless you are close with people while him didn't speak at all except for what all parts to do and how,ie, related to work. So, yeah you didn't give much a thought because you have known and seen people with similar personality of his and more reserved ones.. but this changed one day...
After, the project got over, both of you parted ways and thanked the other and whenever saw each other would just acknowledge presence or maybe ask about the day but one day what happened was that you really didn't had a good day and when you saw him looking at you, you just ran away to field.
Wooyoung rushed to your side even though he didn't knew but he felt that he needed to be next to you because the field wasn't particularly safe when it's about evening time. He saw your small crouched figure while you gently sobbed breaking his heart.
Wooyoung:- Y-Y/N? Y-you okay?
Y/N:- Nah, it's okay. J-just th-thin-things d-didn't go m-my way... Yo-
(He hugged your crouched figure and pressed your head against his chest)
Wooyoung:- It's okay to let out you know.. I know that you don't like to show your emotions especially your vulnerable side to others. It's okay, you are safe with me.
(He doesn't know from where did this come from or what will happen now but you didn't care at the moment, for the first time you saw someone to just let you be you in your emotions which made you hug him more tightly.. )
Y/N:- Thank you, you don't know how much that means to me..
Wooyoung:- It's okay love. I am here for you now and always...
This led to far from the old aye mates to something new relationship...
Junho- Delta
Delta wolves are third in command with Alpha, Beta and Zeta wolves. Their main work is to maintain the pack and train up the pack members when Zeta and Alpha aren't there.
Delta are also made to keep in touch with other alliances and notice the strange activities of the rival packs or creatures. They too like Epsilons are calm and care free personality type wolves but don't think they are weak, they are pretty dangerous especially when they are too calm to give a reaction.
Junho met his mate 'accidentally' when he was travelling to other city for a meet of the company and wolf alliance as well. During this he stopped at a nearby book store cafe where not books are available for borrowing or purchasing but snacks and beverages are too served. He was looking for a book when he heard a soft voice.
Y/N:- Excuse me sir, do you need some help ?
(both you and him were mesmerised by each other's presence and lost in a small staring contest before you composed yourself again)
Y/N:- Sir?
Junho:- I am sorry. It's just that I haven't seen a pretty girl before and yeah I needed some help, can you let me know where is the mythological and fantansy section? (smooth asf)
(if you wouldn't be red at first but now you are a tomato)
Y/N:- Right this way sir...
(after a couple of mins, he went to the counter to see you there)
Y/N:- Thank you for purchasing. I hope you have a great day and will visit us soon.
Junho:- Ofcourse hon.. I will
(he kept that promise)
Chansung- Eta
Eta wolves are the ones who are doctors of the pack and they have the we know it all experience, knowledge and various not so seen and heard tools as well. Sometimes, it feels as if the Etas aren't wolves but some magical creatures because of their knowledge, strong sense of smell and sharp fine motor skills.
Chansung was the youngest one among the rest of his members in pack but highly knowledgeable as if he is doing this for ages that could be remembered and in human form too he was a doctor.
Being in the youngest in pack, he didn't give much a thought about mates though he had heard about how much others were after Taecyeon and Jun to start searching for their mates and sometimes he used to think how and when will he meet, what scenario etc.
But nothing could be compared when he met his mate in his hospital at the department where he never went at first, soon after the visits turned more often.
His mate worked in the Paediatrics as an assistant to the doctor and was incharge of the daycare facility available.
Her laugh and smile had caught his attention because of which he used to come and see her from afar as he was shy and heart was accelerating.
One day, while he went to the department, he didn't saw her and rather someone else was in position of yours making him really sad and upset. He was about to return when a voice stopped him, making his heart go frantic and eyes widened.
Y/N:- Mr Hwang ?
Chansung:- Yes miss...
Y/N:- Sir, I am Y/N Y/L/N, assistant of Dr Kim and these are the reports which Mr Kim had asked me to give if you or anyone comes from the Neurology department.
Chansung:- Me? O...oh, yeah, sorry. Actually, I had some work and kinda forgot about it. Thank you so much though.
Y/N:- Not a problem sir, I will be get going now. Have a good day.
