Prompt 21 - Fool

Previous part First part

When James woke, Regulus was still holding tight to the lion he’d won for him. The employee at the toss-a-hoop stand had not been impressed when he and Sirius both got all three of their hoops on the giant prize bottles. He’d reluctantly handed over the lion and the wolf to them, muttering something under his breath that James was sure he didn’t want to hear. 

He wrapped his arms tighter around Regulus, bringing him as close as possible. Regulus squirmed against him. James huffed out a breath through his nose before he nuzzled into the soft skin of Regulus’s neck, peppering kisses along the arch, gently rousing Regulus from sleep. 

“Hi,” Regulus murmured sleepily.

“What do you say we stay in bed all day today?” James asked, brushing the tip of his nose against Regulus’s ear. 

“Sirius will just barge in if we don’t get up,” Regulus said, stretching back against James. 

“Well, you see, the thing is I kinda forgot about the washing I left in your washer and I don’t have any clean clothes,” James admitted, embarrassed that he’d completely forgotten.

Regulus sat up and pointed to a neatly folded pile of clothes on the chair in the corner.

“I dried and folded your clothes for you,” James looked at him with amazement. 

“Have I told you how much I love you?” He asked, the three words slipping out before he could catch them. He forced his body not to tense up and spook Regulus. 

“No,” Regulus said after swallowing hard. Regulus hadn’t freaked out, so James relaxed a bit. 

“Then I’m a total fool. I do you know,” He didn’t know why he didn’t just stop talking, but he couldn’t help it. Now he’d said it once, he had to say it again. “Love you, that is,” 

“You do?” Regulus’s voice was quiet and oddly muffled. James lifted his head to see Regulus’s face better. He’d buried it in the lion’s mane, which explained his muffled voice. James stroked his fingers through Regulus’s hair. 

“I do, very much,” Regulus spun around, so he was facing James.

“I love you too,” He blurted out, slightly louder than the quiet moment called for, but James didn’t even notice, he was busy dragging Regulus towards him and kissing him deeply,

“Thank you for doing my washing,” He said when they broke apart to catch their breaths.

“I wish I hadn’t,” Regulus giggled into his lion, which had come with him when he rolled over. 

“I think Mr Lion can go guard the door for a bit,” James said, plucking the lion from Regulus’s hands and tossing it in the direction of the door. It bounced off the wood with a soft thump. 

“Hey, that’s my lion!” Regulus grumbled, looking at the fallen toy.

“I don’t think he wants to be between us right now,” James laughed low, feeling it vibrate through his chest. Regulus must have felt it too as he swung his leg over James’s hip and dragged himself closer. 

“Oi! Breakfast in five!” A loud bang at the door, popping the latch open and Sirius’s booming voice called louder. James sighed and, with a soft sweet kiss, released Regulus before he went over to the chair to pull out some clean clothes from the pile.

Third and Final Part to Devour (pt.2), Welcome (pt.1)

For the month that Regulus had been living at the Potter's, he and James have been... well, Regulus doesn't exactly know what's been going on.

All he knows is that he's constantly looking at the other boy, only to find him already looking back. He's never laughed harder in his life than when he was around James and that their touches last a little longer than they should.

That was all perfectly normal though. James was probably just making sure that Regulus was safe, or he was still getting used to the new addition in his house. That’s why he was always looking. It was just the change of scenery that was making him laugh. The touch thing... um, well, maybe James was more of a hugger than Regulus thought.

One thing was for sure though. James has made Regulus feel like a fool. He made him feel like he was seeing things that weren't really there.

Well, Sirius hasn't said anything about the two of them and Regulus knows he would be disgusted if there was something going on between his two "brothers". So that means he's making things up. Right?

He made his way downstairs and sat at the dining room table. The seat that Sirius led him to the first day, the one across from James. Turns out him and Effie have pretty similar sleep schedules. Which is to say, terrible insomnia. The first night was just the first of many nights that Regulus would find himself at the dining table with his new guardian.

"You should tell him you know," she mentions, taking another sip of her hibiscus tea. Regulus noticed that she always has a different drink with her.

"Excuse me?" Regulus asks, looking at her over his mug of earl gray.

"James. You should tell him you like him."

Regulus nearly spits out his drink, but swallows before that can happen. "Excuse me?"

"I'm not daft Regulus, I've seen how you two look at each other," She explains, placing her purple mug down in front of her.

“At each other? You think he likes me?" Regulus asks, sounding a little more vulnerable than he would like to.

Effie laughs. "Of course dear. And if I know my James, he’s just waiting for you to say something.”

Regulus continues drinking his tea. “You're certain?" She nods. "Alright."

That’s what led Regulus to the second floor, standing outside James’ door at 7:30am.

He learned that James woke up at 7 and Sirius woke up at 8, meaning Regulus should have plenty of time to say what he needs to then leave, and hopefully not have to hide in his room all day.

Regulus knocks on the door. Five knocks exactly. He doesn't have to wait long before James answers. "Come in!"

Regulus hesitates. He never hesitates. He feels so nervous, like he can't walk into the room. He's looked the Dark Lord in the eyes before why was this so hard?

He reaches forward and slowly twists the doorknob. The door creaks when he opens it.

“James, can I speak with you?” He asks with a soft voice, walking further into James’ room. He shuts the door behind him.

James is sitting on his bed, a book open in front of him. He looks up to Regulus and immediately notices something’s up. He shuts the book and moves closer to the edge of his bed. “Yeah what’s up?”

Regulus doesn't know what to say or how to start it off. So he starts with what he does know, whatever comes to his mind first, in an attempt to be honest. "I'm not usually nervous."

“I know,” James responds, catching onto how uncomfortable Regulus is.

“So this is hard,” he continues.

James nods. “I can see that.”

"James," Regulus starts, taking a deep breath. "What is this?"

The older boy lets out a nervous smile. "What is what—"

"You know what." Regulus has more power in his tone than when he first entered the room. Tired with the two of them tiptoeing around each other.

James is speechless. Caught in between telling the truth or keeping things the exact same.

Seeing his reaction, Regulus continues. "At least give me something. Whether it's a yes or a no, I just... I can't continue like this."

"Reg... I-" James clears his throat, clearly unsettled by Regulus' outburst. "I'm sorry."

"About which part?" Regulus snaps.

He gets up off his bed and slowly starts making his way over to where Regulus was standing. "The whole situation mainly, I mean, your brother is my best friend and y'know, you just got here. I didn't want to push either of you away. It was selfish, but..." James trails off.

"I know," the youngest Black whispers.

They both look at each other. They're standing less than 3 feet apart and Regulus can feel his throat dry up. This time though, he doesn't blame it on nerves, he doesn't blame it on embarrassment or unfamiliarity. He blames it on James.

James and his stupid shirtless sleeping habits. James and how every touch seems to set Regulus on fire. James and how his words send shivers down Regulus' spine. James and how much Regulus just wants to kiss him.

Regulus voices that last part, what he knows, keeping his voice soft as if admitting a fault. "I want to kiss you."

James smiles softly and leans down towards the other boy, placing his hands around Regulus' waist as if asking him for permission.

Regulus takes a step closer and stares up to James before tilting his head so that their lips brush. That little touch, however, seemed to ignite a flame in the both of them that had James pulling Regulus in for a deeper kiss. Something to break the tension between the two of them over the past month.

Regulus could die happy right now. He wasn't even aware how much he needed the other boy until this exact moment. Feeling their lips on each other's, breathing into each other's mouths and feeling James' grasp on his waist.

When the two of them break apart some time later, Regulus looks up towards James and finds the older boy with a massive grin on his face.

Regulus can't help but smile back. He's okay with being a fool, if only for James.

good morning!!!!! just a heads up that starting from today (01/04/2024) im gonna be a lot more inactive ^_^ my exams will be coming up in less than 2 months so it's absolutely imperative that i focus on studying for those.

im not gonna disappear suddenly tho!! it'll probably happen over this week n ill just gradually be here less and less. i have a few original works lined up, and i might pop in to refill my queue or answer asks, but eventually ill be logging out and going completely silent <3

Happy birthday Huey, Dewey and Louie! - Donald's Nephews and Their Friends Easter Celebration and Birthday Party - Ducktales, Darkwing Duck and Duck Comics - Duckverse

On April 15, 1938, the famous trio appeared in the classic Donald Duck short, called "Donald's Nephews", which will change the history of the Duckverse in part.

Admittedly, even though I'm late, I certainly did this by connecting the celebration of Easter (which is usually celebrated from the end of March to the beginning of May and is not just one day, although the first two are the most significant), as well as the birthday of my favorite Disney Trio (yes, HDL and the Three Caballeros are my best trio). So I drew the kids celebrating their birthday and birthday party so I drew them in a classic style using characters from Ducktales 1987, Ducktales Movie, OG Darkwing Duck and of course the comics. There is definitely Grandma Duck (Elvira Coot) who prepared a birthday cake, cookies and Easter chocolate eggs. And as for the naughty children, in addition to Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, and Daisy's nieces April, May and June Duck (Dutch comics version), Newton Gearloose (Gyro's nephew), Dugan Duck (Fethry's nephew), Shamrock Gander (Gladstone's nephew), Gosalyn Mallard and Honker Muddlefoot from Darkwing Duck, Webby Vanderquack and Gene the Genie (as a real boy) from the Ducktales series and movie, Minima de Spell (Magica's niece) and Phooey Duck (Donald's fourth yellow nephew). I wanted to add more, but not all of them would fit in this drawing. Also, a bit of trouble is made, like Dewey spraying perfume on June and May dousing April Duck. Yes, it's an Easter custom in my area (my country) when women and girls are doused for Easter, and also because it fell on April Fool's Day, the day of the April Fool's Day. I also drew on the occasion of autism month and day, which is celebrated every April, especially on April 2. Honker and Newton get along very well with each other, as do Webby and Minima.

I hope you like this drawing and this idea and I wish everyone a Happy Easter, Happy April Fool's Day and Autism Day and Month and Happy Birthday Huey, Dewey and Louie as well as Phooey Duck again and sorry for the lateness!
