Turtles Swim Faster Than Expected
Turtles Swim Faster Than Expected [trailer]
Suzume Katagura is a bored housewife who spends her days doing chores and taking care of her husband's pet turtle. One day she sees a wanted ad for spies. Hoping for some excitement she decides to give them a call.
Again a number of absurd and funny scenes and characters (apples on staircase, the hairdresser, the ramen chef, the two detectives, ...), but also at times the feeling that a lot of the weirdness is for weirdness' sake.
Which is something I frequently think when watching a movie from Satoshi Miki. That's not necessarily a bad thing, you just have to be prepared for it.

~ CHRIS & DREW MASTERPOST ~
putting together a list of matches available online featuring chris and drew either teaming together or against each other bc i have no life! and also for my fellow chrisdrew heads bc we gotta stick together.
some of these links will be behind a paywall, but i will try my best to find options that are not!! they'll be in order of year and organized by promotion. i have not been able to find any of their matches pre-2017, but i will continue my search until the day i die.
LUCHA FOREVER - the dawning of forever -> cck + chief deputy dunne vs. drew, bea priestley, + el ligero (2:15:00 timestamp)
ATTACK PRO WRESTLING - damplified -> cck vs. drew and shax

lifestyles of the weird and the wonderful -> chris vs. drew
nonstop feeling (pressure to succeed) -> chris, chief deputy dunne + wild boar vs. drew, lk mezinger + mike bird
live at the dome 3 -> chris vs. drew
**unfortunately, most attack pro shows are not available anywhere else other than the linked site, as far as i've found. the good thing is, the sub price isn't too steep, however they don't have all of their shows available, so some chris&drew matches are missing :(

PROGRESS - chapter 82: unboxing day -> chris vs. drew, no dq (1:20:35 timestamp)
IPW - tuesday night graps forever -> cck + (inflatable) pete dunne vs. drew, el phantasmo, + the invisible man (45:30 timestamp) also with aussie open on comms. a good time

2 young 2 die -> chris + drew vs. isami kodaka + yuko miyamoto
front row -> chris + drew vs. kankuro hoshino + akira hyodo
young man standing -> chris + drew vs. kota sekisada & mitsuru takeda
ten minutes -> chris + drew vs. daisuke sekimoto & yuya aoki
**sadly the last half of the bjw shows i'm unable to find anywhere other than the bjw core website which is behind a paywall
GAKE NO FUCHI JOSHI - it's summer isn't it? -> drew + rina yamashita vs. chris + miyako matsumoto
clockwork -> chris vs. suzu suzuki (this is a chris match, but drew is his second and he does get involved in the hijinks)
snow white -> chris vs. miyako matsumoto (drew as chris' second again getting involved in the wonderful nonsense that is this match)
happy death day -> chris, drew + veny vs. miyako matsumoto, rina yamashita, + jun kasai (1:32:40 timestamp)
GANBARE PRO - kocho ranbo -> chris, drew + miyako matsumoto vs. veny, hagane shinno, + shinichiro tominaga (51:50 timestamp)

Super Famicom - Akumajo Dracula (Super Castlevania IV)
Title: Akumajo Dracula / 悪魔城ドラキュラ
Developer/Publisher: Konami
Release date: 31 October 1991
Catalogue Code: SHVC-AD
Genre: Platform Action
No. of Players: 1
In this day and age, the name Konami doesn’t always mean quality since they have now gone the way of many game companies by whoring out their IPs to other developers but back in the 16-bit days of the Super Famicom, the name Konami meant quality. You really knew that you were getting something great just as you knew if you saw the name Acclaim / LJN on a game that you were getting something completely awful.
These days Akumajo Dracula or Super Castlevania 4 as it was known in English is still a fantastic game 33 years (now 2024) after it was first released however some gameplay points may have been glossed over back in the day but are inexcusable these days. The main one is that you can’t jump while on staircases. This is so annoying resulting in death many a time. Another very annoying point is that you can’t jump on to stairs. You just fall right through them! What’s with that that? There’s no logic at all behind that type of thinking. Then there’s the way you are knocked back when hit along with re-spawning enemies. It is possible to be knocked back into another enemy and then another. Again, this results in death. But that’s enough of the annoying points. Let’s talk about how great this game was and still is even now.
Graphically the game isn’t actually that good. In fact, I’d go as far as saying it’s quite messy BUT the effects used in this game and the actual art direction are wonderful. I’ll never forget the first time I walked in what can only be described as a rotating tunnel from a side on view. It was truly a revolutionary moment in gaming. It had never been done before and even now it still impresses. The gameplay even though it has the annoying aspects listed above is still so tight. Every jump you make and every enemy you take out is done because of your skill. There are no real cheap shots in this game if you really play well. Most of the time you die because of a lack of skill.
The audio is something else. I don’t care what anyone says, out of the entire Akumajo Dracula series this has the best music hands down. Sure, other games have great music too, but none have the amount of quality tracks as this game. Every single piece of music is an aural delight. You’d swear that someone had hidden grand piano and orchestra inside of your Super Famicom.
Akumajo Dracula was directed by Masahiro Ueno (credited in the game as Jun Furano since Konami did not allow the use of real names at the time), who was also the main programmer. His first 16-bit game, Ueno's team possibly started development on it during 1989. Ueno liked the original Akumajo Dracula for the Famicom (NES) the most and wanted to make a pure action game that was similar to it. Many features in Akumajo Dracula were introduced to make it a less frustrating game for players, such as giving them more control over Simon when he walks upstairs, although it still needs a lot of work. Ueno also worked on both the Japanese and English versions of the game, with the latter featuring some instances of censorship. He was asked to alter the color palette in the English version to remove some depictions of blood in stage eight plus the title screen is also missing the dripping blood.

do you have any jdrama recs? i really wanna start watching them! thank u sm! 💓
hi, anon! I do have some jdrama recommendations but since you didn't specify your preferred genre, I'd take it that you're fine with any. (٥⁀▽⁀ ) You can click the links to check the summary.
Bitter Blood (Partners by Blood) - the first jdrama I finished watching, the comedy in this series is great and aside from the genre mentioned, there are other elements of the series that made it worth watching. Genre: Action, Comedy, Mystery Main Cast: Satou Takeru, Watabe Atsuro
Kagi no Kakatta Heya - this got my interest because of the main cast but it definitely became one of my favorites that I still rewatch even to this day Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Drama Main Cast: Ohno Satoshi, Toda Erika, Sato Koichi
Good Doctor - this one originated from Kdrama of the same title, I watched the Korean and US versions so I can definitely say that this version has a different flavor to offer Genre: Life, Drama, Medical Main Cast: Yamazaki Kento, Ueno Juri, Fujiki Naohito
Mystery to Iunakare - I posted this one before and I even read the manga, the mysteries are not that mind-blowing but the main character is very interesting. this will have a movie that will feature one of the arcs in the manga and I am also looking forward to it. ^^ Genre: Mystery, Psychological, Life, Drama Main Cast: Suda Masaki
Shikaku Tantei Higurashi Tabito - the MC is also interesting, he had an accident in the past that lead to losing all his senses except his sense of sight and he is using his ability as a private detective. this has 2 seasons by the way so if ever you're going to watch this and enjoyed watching the first season, you might as well check season 2 Genre: Mystery, Drama, Supernatural Main Cast: Matsuzaka Tori, Tabe Mikako, Hamada Gaku, Sumida Moeno
Nobunaga Concerto - this one's based on manga, I never read the manga or watched the anime so maybe this could be another reason why I appreciated the live-action version but if you haven't read or watched the animanga, you can give this a try too Genre: Action, Military, Historical, Comedy Main Cast: Oguri Shun, Shibasaki Ko
3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu - you can watch this on Netflix, this is also a very good series Genre: Action, Thriller, Mystery, Psychological Main Cast: Suda Masaki, Nagano Mei
99.9: Keiji Senmon Bengoshi - MC is also weird so it got me, I have a thing for characters that are too weird but too good in what they do. this has season 2 as well ^^ Genre: Mystery, Comedy, Law Main Cast: Matsumoto Jun, Kagawa Teruyuki, Eikura Nana
Radiation House - this is also based on manga, I've read only a few chapters but I think the series was also well-made, there's romance but not to the point that it would go off the actual plot Genre: Mystery, Drama, Medical Main Cast: Kubota Masataka, Honda Tsubasa, Hirose Alice
Bokura wa Kiseki de Dekite Iru - now this one could be a total hit or a total miss for you, some find it boring but I really loved this series, if you are fine with watching a pure slice of life drama, you might also like this one, the MC is also eccentric which also became one of the main element of the story Genre: Life, Drama Main Cast: Kubota Masataka, Honda Tsubasa, Hirose Alice
So these are just some of the series I can recommend. If you're planning to check some of these and liked them too, feel free to DM me so we can talk about it more. It's not often that I encounter someone interested in jdrama. ^^ But damn, just reminiscing about these series makes me want to watch them again.

■Instruments of Tokyo
Dreams about (something what was) a house
