TBHK Headcanons : First Date Edition!

These aren't ship specific, just where I think each of the characters would take someone out on a first date.

Nene: She'd take her date out to a farm, especially a sunflower farm. She'd show off her best skills, gardening! She'd nerd out on how to care for different plants and wear a floral patterned dress. Maybe even clip her hair up with a cute flower-styled pin.

Hanako: He'd want to be somewhere cozy and nice. He'd be casual and adventure around town to go exploring. Ideally, he'd star gaze, but he wants it to be perfectly clear and quiet out at night in order to do that.

Kou: He'd go through a list of suggestions his brother gave him (all setting him up for failure, Teru probably doesn't like the idea of his little brother dating anyone and getting his heart broken). He'd pick the cheapest and simplest option, wear something casual, and make it work out perfectly!

Mitsuba: He'd take his date out hiking so he can take a beautiful photo of them with the sunset in the background once they reach the top of the mountain.

Teru: He'd plan to give his date the princess treatment; going anywhere they want, paying for their food, buying jewelry, and protecting them from the cold and suspicious people. He'd dress very nice but try and act all aloof and cold. On the inside he'd be a fumbling mess who has no idea what to actually do.

Akane: He'd do the same as Teru but bump up the protectiveness to 1000. Also, he'd go all out to look handsome.

Aoi: She'd just want to go to a café and chat for a while. Nothing too fancy or stuffy. She just likes something simple, a place where she won't feel so anxious to express herself.

Tsukasa: He'd take his date to a movie; a horror movie. Something so gruesome and gory that his date would cling to them the entire time. He would watch and enjoy his date squirm from the gross movie. He'd psychologically torture his date. Probably don't go out with him.

I love being a Nene fan because no matter how much hate and misogyny is aimed her way, she will always be the protagonist. It doesn’t matter how hard people try to deny that fact, by definition she is the main character and has been called such multiple times throughout the series. The story will always be about her lifespan, and she is at the front of every major arc in the series (although ofc some of the minor arcs do center around side characters). Hanako will always be in love with her, Aoi will always be her best friend, and every other character people use to put her down probably loves her too because she is so good at befriending people

i went into tbhk in 2018 thinking its a cute slice of life comedy manga oh the way tides change.... it was never a comedy slice of life manga to begin with

okay wait, I know this is three years late, but I never noticed that during the Red House arc we actually got confirmation of what happened to Mitsuba's hand in his accident, that he lost two fingers. That explains why he's still able to open doors etc. with it, which I know hung up a lot of people who thought the sleeve was just a fashion choice. I love the parallel with supernatural!Mitsuba having a three-clawed talon.

The princess likes bugs 🐛

I’ve been wanting to make this manga panel of Aoi into a full piece of art for a while (pic below). That paired with the notion that she loves bugs and little garden critters is the kinda lovely juxtaposition that inspired me.

Side note, I know she deep down detested being chosen as the lead for their class play. She doesn’t like the attention! I wanted Akane to bust her out so bad but alas.

On her liking bugs, I always headcanoned her to be the kinda kid that loved getting dirty outside the few times she was allowed to be herself as a kid. Whereas Akane was an indoor kid. Despite this, he always dragged her outside anyway if only to tell Aoi’s parents they both came back covered in mud at his insistence. He’s her cover story and favorite person.
