Yuki: Laughing without any sound and smacking her foot on the ground

Small reminder: Yuki has no voice box so she can physically not make any sounds a normal person would.

Out of all the Hunting Dogs members, Tachihara rly seems to be the closest to Jouno (after Teruko ofc) But why is that the case?

I mean just LOOK at how proud Tachihara looks in this panel after receiving that praise from Jouno! It’s sooo cute I-😭 But why is Tachihara so close to Jouno of all people?

Well I HC that when Tachihara first joins the HD, his criminal background makes him understandably very distrustful/fearful of everyone else. It feels less like the HD are his coworkers and more like they’re just cops keeping an eye on him, just waiting for when he’ll inevitably slip up so they can finally lock his ass away. He just can’t get that criminal-cop mindset out of his head yet.

Jouno was the only person that could understand and relate to Tachihara considering he was also a formal criminal (tho I don’t think he was ever scared of the HD, he still felt that same distrust in his first couple years as well)

And so to make Tachihara feel more comfortable/calm (cuz he’s actually starting to care for the boy getting sick of constantly hearing Tachihara’s too fast heart beat) Jouno decides to casually bring up all the stupidly profitable crimes Tachihara could’ve committed with his ability, going into suspiciously criminal amounts of detail. Most of the heists that he brings up r stuff that he himself was planning to do in the mafia before he got arrested. Jouno talks about this to help remove the whole ‘HD-dangerous-cop’ association that Tachihara has made.

At first Tachihara is very suspicious and hesitant to answer, assuming this must be some sort twisted way to set him up. But then he realizes Jouno just genuinely enjoys talking about crimes as if they aren’t surrounded by Japan’s elite police force. And yet no one ever actually does anything to Jouno, even tho everything he says is so illegal, that he should’ve already gone to prison 20 times over just for even uttering half that stuff lol.

These conversations rly help Tachihara to stop seeing the HD as just ‘cops’ and he immediately begins to open up. Soon he and Jouno r having like hour long conversations, literally just discussing various heists in great detail.

They make Tetchou slightly uncomfortable with their blase view of big time crime so every time they start talking about this stuff, Tetchou just silently walks out of the room lol (Jouno 100% teases him for that, constantly inviting him to join their conversations, to which Tetchou always politely declines lol)

Ofc, to remind Tachihara that at the end of the day, they ARE still just only coworkers (not friends), Jouno likes to end their conversations laughing, saying ‘Of course, if you were to actually try any of this, I would not hesitate to gouge your eyes out and feed them to the dogs’ which always keeps Tachihara from being too casual.

Despite that tho, Tachihara can’t help but still see Jouno as older brother figure. A terrifying brother figure, but a brother figure nonetheless. In some ways, he actually somewhat prefers his relationship with Jouno than that with his actual brother. Don’t get me wrong: he still loves his brother but… unlike with his brother, no one pressures him to be like Jouno; if anything, they actually discourage Tachihara from becoming too much like him lol.

The HD never make him feel like he HAS to live up to anyone. Instead they actually want him to become his own person so he can add something unique to the team. They never make him feel like he’s not enough. And that just means so much to someone like Tachihara, who spent his whole life feeling so inadequate compared to perfection of the dead.

So yeah, that’s how Jouno and the Hunting Dogs became Tachihara’s found family

Tachihara losing his brother and not understanding what he was feeling or how to deal with it since he was so young (5). And as he gets older, he starts to wonder if he really missed his brother or he missed the idea of having a brother.

He assumes that because he’s grown since then and it feels so distant that he could handle it if it were to happen now. Maybe that’s because he’s killed people of his own. But he never really wants to dwell on it.

Turns out. It’s not. It hurts just as much, but now he blames himself as well. Why wasn’t he there? Why didn’t he stop Fukuchi when he had the chance? If he’d just asked for help, this all could’ve been avoided.

He’s always been a loner to some extent, never good at processing feelings, always wanting to belong but feeling like he was an outsider.

It’s not until they’re all gone that he realizes how much emptier he feels without them.

Shunzen may have been his brother by blood, but as much as he doesn’t wanna face it. Tachihara barely remembers him.

He remembers them. He spent the last 6 years being raised by them. They always encouraged him, supported him, even when the government and fate itself were trying to control them. And yet.

He wasn’t there.

I’ve already talked about my big-sibling-Jōno agenda, and my thoughts only expand by the day. If the vampire pandemic is resolved and they both have the privilege to survive, I think Tachihara would find a lot of comfort in Jōno regarding everything that happened. Jōno would absolutely give sincere and helpful advice to him. They would get VIOLENTLY protective of him, especially- ESPECIALLY- with my headcanon that Jōno wasn’t born blind. I might sincerely write a full fic for this because I am so soft for Jōno’s softer side.

tachihara was probably only about 4 when his brother died so i'd wager he doesn't really remember his brother as a person. his family constantly compared him to his brother long after his death so i can only imagine tachihara seeing him as this untouchable idea of someone who will Always be better than him. and obviously, tachihara still cares about him and is angry about how he died - thus why he seeks revenge - but he also holds some resentment about being compared to him in all aspects of life. and i think he probably had to grapple with where to direct that resentment. he probably wrongly dumped the blame on yosano because he blames her for his brother's death, and it's a lot easier for his family to turn his brother into this image of perfection when he's dead - he's not around to prove them wrong (and prove that he has human flaws etc), AND he's not around to defend tachihara.

i also think this is why tachihara likes the hunting dogs despite everything. regardless of intention, they were probably the first people who treated him as his own individual self, completely separate from his brother. to a young kid who's had to deal with that comparison all his life, that would mean the world

I’ve been reading a lot of BSD fanfiction recently and I keep coming across this one person on ao3 every single day. Like does this person take a break?!

Anyways I reached out and got permission to do a bsd beach day with their ocs included. Idk if they’re well known or not but oh well. I love their story’s.

I have no idea how to do this so let’s start with the family’s. Nakahara’s first.

They organised this meet up but are fashionably late because they couldn’t figure out how to fit eight people into a car without them being squished and a fight breaking out.

Chuuya: The one driving because dazai can’t be trusted

Dazai: the one in the back seat between Atsushi and Akutagawa

Q: sitting in the very back next to Miyo and Kyouka

Miyo: fast asleep with her head on Qs shoulder

Kyouka: playing with Atsushis hair from where she’s sitting behind him.

Gin: in the passengers seat picking the music

Atsushi: falling asleep

Akutagawa: suggesting songs to gin

And then boom the arrive at the location— the beach which is a public one, however there’s only one giant group of people there and a very very random tiger which is why people are being scared away!!

Okay so we have the Nakahara family, the Dostoevsky family, the Jouno family, The Nakajima family, the hunting dogs and the Assassination Unit. Uh, I have no idea how to continue this??

Oh well, I’ll give it a try. Legs start with the assassination unit— then we can do the nakajimas then the nakaharas the. So on.

Mena: sipping wine on her beach chair under like 5 umbrellas and wearing two bottles of sunscreen so she doesn’t fry. (And staying the fuck away from the water incase her ability attracts horny dolphins or worse)

Lunna: playing lifeguard and making sure everyone applies sunscreen (going as far to throw bottles of it at people)

Devana: running at the water then running away from it like a little kid (I dont believe he learned to swim at all.)

Milla: unable to leave the water because the water stole her bikini away.

Victoria: in her tiger form, scaring away everyone until she comes across Atsushi and drags him away to play in the water.

Atsushi: playing tag with his elder sister

Akutagawa: doing what Menas doing just with more umbrellas so Gin can join him.

Gin: helping unload the car

Chuuya: unloading the car

Dazai: trying to drown himself again.

Q: The arching and laughing at dazai

Miyo: building a sand castle with Ju and Haru. Then goes play in the water

Ju: watching Miyo and haru build a sand castle only for it to be actually destroyed by Victoria. He watches Haru rebuild it (horridly since Haru is blind) and then goes ask Nikolai to bring the sandcastle home with them.

Nikolai: applying the 5th bottle of sunscreen to his husband so the man doesn’t become a burnt rat.

Fyodor: already a burnt rat, watching a child sit on a rock (making sure she doesn’t fall and die)

Yuki: recreating that one scene form the little mermaid

Haru: likely sleeping under someone’s umbrella

Jouno: looking for his kids (or getting led around by Tecchou since he deserves to be taken care of since his always doing it himself).

Tecchou: Making sure Jouno doesn’t drown.

Teruko: throwing sand at tachihara

Tachihara: trying to hide

Fukuchi: he wasn’t invited.
