Ich hab die Folgen heute nochmal geschaut, nachdem ich das von Montsg ein bisschen verarbeitet habe.

Es hat mich persönlich sehr genervt an mir selbst, dass ich das fast nur wegen Nolin geguckt habe und dadurch den Rest nur so unterwellig mitbekommen habe, obwohl ich alles gesehen hab. Daher wollte ich noch ein paar Gedanken loswerden. Erstmal die, die nichts mit Nolin zu tun haben:

Die neuen Charaktere:

Tahmi finde ich ziemlich lustig. Ich fand den ADHS Gedanken, der hier aufkam schon irgendwie passend, obwohl ich wenig Erfahrung damit habe.

Maxi finde ich Irgendwie ganz witzig, allerdings auch ziemlich manipulativ. Erst Ava mit dem Schloss, dann Herr Chung, dann ihre Mutter. Aber ich kann mir schon vorstellen, dass das mit der Schatzsuche und ihr gar nicht so blöd wird.

Karl, dagegen finde ich bisher relativ nervig und anstrengend.

Simon finde ich ziemlich oberflächlich und eingebildet und irgendwie erinnert er mich optisch an den Schauspieler von Young Sheldon. Aber vielleicht ist die Oberflächlichkeit ja auch nur Fassade. Abwarten.

Joshua finde ich bisher ein bisschen strange. Ich meine, wer steht denn mit einem Buch lesend auf dem Basketballplatz und beschwert sich dann noch, wenn jemand um ihn herum Basketball spielt?

Elly mag ich total und ich finde die Dynamik mit Massuda richtig cool. Ich glaube, aber da steckt noch mehr hinter ihrer coolen Fassade und da bin ich sehr gespannt, was uns erwartet.

Nach 3 folgen kann man alle noch gar nicht wirklich einschätzen, von daher bin ich einfach gespannt, was uns da noch erwartet und wie die Charaktere wirklich sind.

I was doing a deep dive on The Chamberlain Bros™️ and I found something interesting, yet very sad. This is post is not to belittle Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain by any means, but I don’t think many people know about this and I think it’s important when people discuss his life after war (more specifically; how his marriage took went downhill and why he was gloomy) they consider what I’m about to tell y’all.

Most people know (if you’re a Lawrence fan and drool over his Wikipedia page like me) of the wound he received during the siege of Petersburg. In general; he was shot in his groin, the bullet nicked his bladder and urethra. It sounds devastating even by today’s standards, and without modern medicine it was a living hell. Once he was brought to the field hospital the surgeons were at a loss.

Torso wounds were terrible, mostly because the surgeons didn’t have the time to dig the bullet(s) out. They were working on amputations or anything that could be done quickly and required less tediousness. So when Lawrence was brought in, they pretty much considered it fatal. And when Thomas caught word he got a regimental doctor, Abner Shaw, to treat him. Shaw and one other surgeon (I forgot his name), worked on Lawrence all night. And as far as anesthesia goes, he would’ve felt the majority, if not all of the pain.

Now, here’s where it gets 18+. There’s some discourse on where exactly Lawrence was injured. From what I could tell most of the discourse comes from a letter written by Ellis Spear.

Now, it’s important to note that Ellis and Lawrence didn’t get along after the war. From what I can gather, most of the beef was over a memoir-type book they were writing about the 20th Maine. And if you look at previous Spear’s previous accounts on the incident, it doesn’t mention anything about his penis

But it’s still up in the air (there’s a joke there somewhere) whether or not he was shot through the hip or his penis. He also fathered a child after the war, which must’ve been pretty hard (shut up) since the injury, no matter where he was shot, would make it nearly impossible to get an erection. Not to mention the PTSD he suffered.

That was probably the biggest reason why Fanny and his marriage took a turn. His death was most likely a result of the old wound. He had to have surgery a number of times after the war and he got lots of infections. It’s really sad and not many people know of the severity of his injury.

As I said before, I am not in any way trying to dunk on Lawrence. I would marry him. I think he was a very good person and soldier. I just wanted to share this lil tid bit of info.

while valentine’s day had never been a holiday that ever interested joshua before, he wanted to make an effort to do something nice this year. it was a bit comical how much pressure he had been placing on himself over it all, wracking his brain over potential ideas to show ellie how much she meant to him. the pressure led to countless sleepless nights, a part of him worried that whatever he came up with wouldn’t be impressive enough. but after several days of deliberation, he slowly realized that it wasn’t about impressing her. valentine’s day wasn’t supposed to be a day you went over the top, it was rather a day set aside to express your love and devotion for someone. maybe it was just easier for him to do so through gifts over words. nerves ate away at him as he held onto her hand, gently guiding her down the long stretch of corridor. “i know it’s a bit cold outside… but i wanted to do something special for you considering it’s valentine’s day and all.” he paused once they entered the courtyard where a blanket with candles surrounding it was set up. there were several different things set up across the blanket along with rose petals scattered about, “i made us some hot chocolate and have some of your favourite desserts in that basket.” he explained with a timid smile. “i know it’s not as extravagant as you deserve, but this is the first place i looked at you and realized you were the one that i wanted. i wanted to come back here and just… be with you.” he explained, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. “it’s a bonus that we have an awesome view of the stars out here.” he nodded his chin toward the vast starry night sky above their heads.
