The birth of Junot and Laure's first child
-From the book "La Generale Junot, Duchesse d'Abrantès, d'après ses lettres, ses papiers et son 'journal intime' inédits" by Joseph Turquan, a biography of Laure Junot featuring previously unpublished information given to the author by Georges Aubert, Junot's grandson.
The book is from 1901, and therefore is a little dated in some regards, but overall creates a good portrait of Laure and Jean-Andoche Junot.
Portrait of Josephine Junot as a little girl
Mme Junot was nearing the end of her pregnancy. It was with noble intoxication that she saw herself soon as a mother. One day, her husband entered her room and found her leaning over the cradle waiting for the little being to come: she seemed to be in ecstasy. Junot, under a somewhat harsh exterior, under the frequent brusqueness of his manners and his thoughtlessness, hid, as is often seen in these kinds of natures, a tender heart, sensitive to the joys of the family. Understanding perfectly the holy ecstasy of his wife, he embraced her with an expansiveness which added the height of happiness to she who was going to be a mother.
She had a daughter. At first she feared that this little girl would not be welcomed with as much enthusiasm as a boy. Her father-in-law, who was not very gallant, had already told her: “There was no point in crying so much to have a daughter!”
But the general did not share his father's error: he was perfect for his little wife, perfect for his little daughter and tears of tenderness showed Mme Junot that he would be the best father.*
A pain in the middle of all this happiness; Mme Junot lost her mother. If anything could bringing consolation to her grief was the thought that the poor woman was delivered from the sufferings which, for some time, had been incredibly torturing her.
Junot and his wife had asked the First Consul to be their daughter's godfather** and he had granted this favour with much good grace. The day after the baptism, which took place in Saint-Cloud and not at Malmaison which Bonaparte was beginning to abandon, Mme Bonaparte sent the young mother a necklace of fine pearls in several rows; the pearls were the size of a large gooseberry and the padlock formed by a solitaire of admirable white and water. This gift was superb, but it did not come close to that which the First Consul gave to Junot: he gave him the title deed to his hôtel on the Rue des Champs-Elysées. This was a gift of two hundred thousand francs, which increased the income of the young couple by the entire price of the rent. Instead of continuing to live on the same footing as before, which would have been just reasonable, they increased the size of the house, they decided to renew the furniture and they received more brilliantly than ever before.
*Like all men of the era, Junot wanted to have a son to continue the family line. However he showed an equal amount of love for all of his children, and when he was on campaign would send very affectionate letters and gifts to his daughters Josephine and Constance, and to his niece Clotilde.
**In addition to this the godmother was Josephine Bonaparte, who Junot's little girl was named after.

Napoleon movie doodles (I might color them later)
I would not mind seeing Nappy give his favorite tsar a spank, hopefully the people on ao3 agree ☺️
According to the movie :
Their portrayal of Napoleon is horrible but honestly a bit funny too
If I recall correctly Alexander is basically always smiling in this movie (idk 😂)
At least I’m glad I decided to go with a friend instead of my mom because that would have been awkward

Josephine Junot's love affair
As a young woman, Josephine Junot, the oldest child of Jean-Andoche and Laure Junot, entered a convent, possibly against her family's wishes. However she was not a nun but a canoness, meaning that she took no permanent vows and did not renounce her property, implying that she did not intend to stay there forever. Indeed in 1832, at the age of thirty, she returned to Paris to meet with a bishop, and then stayed with her overjoyed family instead of returning to the convent.
During Josephine's absence, Laure Junot had published her infamous memoirs and the Junot family became acquainted with many of the great writers of the time. Around 1830 the writer Honoré de Balzac, then lover of Laure Junot, introduced to the salon his friend Paul Gavarni, an illustrator. Gavarni soon became close friends with Laure and her three younger children: Napoleon, Alfred and Constance.
Josephine Junot was introduced to Paul Gavarni shortly after her return to Paris, and the two became fast friends. Gavarni became fascinated by this beautiful yet modest woman, two years his senior, and promptly developed romantic feelings for her. However Josephine retained her strong religious principles, quite contrary to Gavarni's more libertine views, and insisted that they should see each other as brother and sister, nothing more. Gavarni complied with her wishes, and even in letters with strong romantic undertones he still called her 'ma sœur'. In these letters there is no burning passion or desire for physical intimacy, but a deep admiration of the 'pure flower' of Josephine's soul.
The couple did not want to marry, each for different reasons. Gavarni did not believe marriage would suit him due to his independent spirit. Josephine was still committed to the life of a canoness, and even if she did wish for marriage, she would not marry a man unless he was a devout Christian, and Gavarni was a non-believer. Josephine felt that he was putting his good soul to waste by being an atheist, and tried to convert him - but her efforts had a rather unexpected consequence, as Gavarni wrote to her that his only religion was worship of her.
Over the course of the 1830s, their relationship, still a mix of romantic and platonic affection, went through several struggles. Napoleon Junot informed his sister that him and Gavarni often went to parties together and partook in a rather libertine lifestyle. Josephine was furious and harshly rebuked Gavarni; he fervently apologised ('forgive me, I'm on my knees, forgive me') but also defended his actions and said she was being unfair.
Josephine spent the decade oscillating between the convent and her family in Paris, committed as ever to her Catholic values. Gavarni began to feel frustrated by her serious disposition and her prioritisation of religion above all else.
While Josephine had returned to the convent for a few months, Gavarni spent a brief period of time in a debtors prison in Clichy. When he was released a letter from Laure Junot was waiting for him, demanding, out of concern for her daughter, that he either convert to Christianity and marry Josephine, or end the romantic aspect of their relationship. Gavarni chose the latter.
Although there was initially bitterness between the couple after this, they eventually reconciled as friends. On 1st December 1841, Josephine married Jaques-Louis (christened James) Amet, and in 1843 she gave birth to a daughter, Valentine Amet, who later married Comte Charles de Moüy. Upon Josephine's death in 1888, Valentine de Moüy found in her mother's bedroom a collection of letters from Paul Gavarni, available to read here.

OOC: The Napoleonic Askblog/Roleplay Scene Directory
Here's an Out Of Character post listing the blogs I'm aware of in the Napoleonic RPF Roleplay Scene! It's OOC because Lannes would want to make sarcastic remarks with typos.
If you want (or don't want) your blog on this list, message me and whether you want a main/other blog associated with your name or whether you want to be anonymised! Also happy to include non-Frenchmen and Frev folks.
Doubles or multiple versions of people are welcome, this is a varied afterlife. We all have our different ideas for what this afterlife is like as well.
Feel free to reblog or link to this!
And now we have a OOC discord server to chat about all of this! Feel free to join if you'd like!

Even thought I’m not doing anything here on tumblr I am Junots strongest soldier (unintentionally ironic) and spreading the WRONG!!! word around. Including him pushing my boy INTO THE SPOTLIGHT whenever I talk about napoleons fart crusades or whatever he did he’s dead and castrated anyway (JOKE!!)
And hell let’s make it a wierd inside joke😭 like whenever someone asks about him make it tangled so they don’t if he was a marshal or not.‼️‼️
I like how often Junot gets included among Napoléon's marshals even though he was never one. You guys are making his dream come true!

Napoleon (2023) Review
I know many of you have posted your own reviews and what I'm going to talk about will cover most of what people have said but I wanna give my own perspective on the movie. As you know spoilers will be said, so if yall still haven't watch the movie go before reading.
Alright first, I would like to say the movie overall wasn't that bad nor it wasn't great. Some battle scenes were a bit confusing, Borodino was the one which I got the most confused because of how quick the scene was. One moment I was watching soldiers fight and then it was done, which I guess they wanted to get to the part of Napoleon arriving at Moscow but I digress.
During the Seige of Toulon, I was a bit confused with Napoleon's reaction throughout the whole battle. He was hyperventilating and panicking which seemed strange to me since he was always calm and collected during stressful situations, especially this battle since it was his 'debut' and was an important plan in getting Toulon back in French hands. I understand him being a little bit nervous, but he had to stay calm for the soldier's sake.
Now, lets talk about Napoleon and Josephine's relationship, oh boy, it was a mess. I did like how Naps acted a bit awkward during their first meeting since he was pretty shy and weird around the ladies in real life, but after that the whole relationship seemed too toxic than what it really was. Like the scene where Josephine returned to the chateau after Naps came back from Egypt and him yelling at her and basically telling her she was a slut, him threatening divorce because she couldn't get pregnant at the beginning of their marriage, or when Naps got angry at Josephine yet again and threw food at her, or him slapping Josephine during the divorce scene. I literally let out a gasp when that happened. That whole representation of their relationship was a freaking mess, and don't even get me started with the sex scenes! They were so weird and Naps making animals noises before doing it didn't make it better. I think the worst for me was when Naps called Josephine "little one" like don't start with that kinky shit smh. Also the part where Alexander went to visit Josephine at Malmaison was not necessary, they did develop a friendship but it was nothing more than that.
Besides all the negative things I did like a few things about the movie. For starters Napoleon's first interaction with Josephine, that was a nice touch. The lamb chop scene was hilarious and everyone including me laughed at the scene. Naps falling down the stairs after almost getting killed by the Directory and saying "oh fuck" under his breath while standing up was funny. Even the scene afterwards where Naps and Lucien were struggling to get out and keep everyone inside was funny. His facial expression he made while trying to regain himself had me dying.
What caught me by suprise was Junot being in the movie because correct me if I'm wrong but no other movie had Junot included in it, so when Naps first yelled "Junot" during the Seige of Toulon I was like 'huh? Junot? Like Jean Andoche Junot?? THE JUNOT?? I can't believe what I'm hearing!" and sure enough Junot was in the movie! Even though it was only for like 30 minutes but him being in the movie made me so happy because he is never mentioned in any form of media.
Overall it wasn't as bad as I expected. I still wished they would've added other marshals like Murat and Lannes, but I do appreciate them adding Davout since he is also someone who doesn't get mentioned in movies a lot, so props to you Scott (I guess). I did get over the historical inaccuracies pretty quick, but Wellington and Naps meeting did rub me the wrong way knowing that they never met each other in real life. Also, Ney with a moustache...why??
So that's all I wanted to say about the movie. Sorry if this was a longer post, but I wanted to write down everything before I forget. Thank you for reading!
