I love the Jordie lives but kaz doenst know until after canon fics. The realization that his whole life was built on a lie but also kaz having the support of the people that death made him close to.

jordie lives au where jordie becomes not like kaz but like one of those stiff, ignorant men of ketterdam who can’t see the connection between the barrel rats and the merchers, who dream of being one of the top dogs in the city but never reach it. that was the main aspect of his character, right? he wanted to be rich, but he was too ignorant to understand that the system was set to make the rich men richer and the poor men poorer. kaz was always the smart one, and so kaz will develop into the same infamous barrel thug he’d always been destined to be, and he would still hate pekka because, in a way, it was like jordie still died because of him. because of pekka, kaz saw his big brother’s weaknesses for the first time, and whether jordie lives or dies, kaz can’t help but hate him for his ignorance at the same time he loves the boy he remembers to be his doting big brother.

You know what's a small detail that soooooo many people seem to forget that's generally pretty inconsequential, but I notice it every time I see it?

Kaz and Jordie are NOT from Lij. They're actually from a completely separate, unnamed place. Which sounds unbelievable, I know, because everyone tends to include that information in various posts and content and etc, but I swear it's true! Look:

It specifically says that Lij is about two towns over from where Kaz and Jordie grew up. So where are they actually from??? The world may never know.

Woke: It's a metaphor for Pekka killing Kaz's childhood innocence, which was being kept alive through Jordie

Bespoke: Kaz just needed someone to blame for Jordie's death so thought to himself hmmm who could I pin this on, chose Pekka, and rolled with it.

I prefer the idea that jordie was actually the one who implemented the revenge plan, pushing it onto kaz, much like how it manifests in kaz’s trauma in the books.

*insert transition sentence here*

Jordie wanted a street name like “dirtyhands” or “the wraith” but he ended up with his own name, and it wasn’t even Jordan, like an adult. No. It was “Jordie” because that’s what kaz called him.

Apart from that he’s mostly known for being the only one who can put a leash on the bastard of the barrel, figuratively because if he’d actually tried he’d be cut or shot, and if he managed to evade that he’d certainly be bitten

While kaz wanted Jesper (as a friend, bc you know that stuff was totally planned out weeks in advance) as a sharpshooter, jordie defiantly took the chance to take his university library card to drown himself in the sent of old pages and ink in his free time
