Another couple of thoughts on Grey's Anatomy season 20 now that I'm all done watching
Amelia Shepherd is H O T
Yasuda and Jules omg??
Also really curious to see how Schmitt and Yasuda will leave the show
Jo Wilson should've been pregnant with Alex his babies (jolex forever 😭)
Loving Simone and Miranda together
Why is Catherine in her villain era???
Also season 21 thought, does Richard have Alzheimer and will Catherine rehire Mer, Amelia, Owen and Teddy??
Also that last scene of all the interns and bailey against Catherine is soooo powerful
God so many thoughts, so many questions

Deaf (Jolex and Luna Angst with a Happy Ending Imagine)
Previous Chapter Here
Tumblr media
Age Rating: 12+
Chapters: Two of Three
Fandom: Grey’s Anatomy
Ship: Alex Karev and Jo Wilson/ Jo Karev
Canon Episode: Season 19 Episode 16
AN: I will forever be angry at Shonda Rhimes for breaking up such a beautiful and loving couple in such an awful way that destroyed over 10 years of Alex’s character development. But I can correct that mistake even if it’s head canon here on Tumblr. I want to show our appreciation for the dads out there that put our wellbeing above their own and guide us through the roughest times.
Summary: Alex and Jo get a diagnosis from Jackson Avery who came at their request with April and is the only one outside the family who knows about Luna’s prognosis and supports them through this.
Words: 2298
February 2nd, 2023
Alex paces the attendings lounge back and forth anxiously waiting for his special visitor to walk through that door.
The door opens and Alex is relieved to see the person he was expecting. Jackson Avery is in a business suit, looking more like a board member than a surgeon. He grins at the sight of his good friend outside in his casual clothes and steps out to greet him.
“Hey man.” Jackson keeps his tone neutral knowing his friend needs him more as his daughter’s doctor than as a fun friend. They shake hands, “It’s good to see you, I wish it was under better circumstances.”
“You and me both.” Alex shares tensely, “Jo and Luna are already in an exam room.”
“Good I called ahead, and I got a nurse to set up an audiometer and don’t worry outside of my mom and Richard nobody knows I’m here and as far as they are concerned, I’m here for medical pitches.” Jackson says to Alex’s relief, “I figured this private visit should stay private until we get a diagnosis.”
“Thank you for that. I wouldn’t normally ask that of you but Jo is…” Alex sighs rubbing his tired eyes, “She’s going to worst case scenario after worst case scenario and I’m trying to be supportive. And as someone who’s been at my field for 10 years, I know too well how much a diagnosis can ruin a child and their family.”
“Okay I’m gonna be a doctor right now, not your friend and tell you to relax so that we take this one step at a time.” Alex exhales to relax, “First step is to have Luna take a BAER test and if hearing loss is indicated then we run more tests to confirm if it’s progressive hearing loss or an underlying condition that’s causing hearing loss.”
“Yeah, I know all of that it’s just…it’s hard being on the other side of this.”
“Believe me I understand that more than you think.” Jackson sympathizes before motioning to the door, “Shall we?”
Later
Jo bounces Luna against her hip as she walks around the tiny exam room trying to keep her mind from exploding. So far she is failing as her worry for her child grows with every second. It’s not Luna is going deaf it’s what could have caused it. Jo knows that it could be a malignant acoustic neuroma and the thought of her baby having cancer fills her with dread. Luna is the one person she loves more than Alex and she can’t bear to see her in pain.
The door opens and she pauses to see Jackson entering the room with Alex who goes to them with a smile at Luna. He strokes her fine blonde hair causing Jo to grin slightly before turning to Jackson who is clad in a business suit.
“Hi Jo.”
“Hi.” Jo gives a slight grin to Jackson grateful to have him here as Luna’s doctor, “I’m sorry if were pulling you away from foundation stuff but we wanted someone who’s a skilled ENT and make sure all of the bases are covered.”
Jackson shakes his head, “You don’t have to apologize, I’m more than happy to do this for Luna. But I have to warn you I’m gonna use my doctor voice instead of my good friend voice. So, Alex says there have been signs of hearing loss at daycare, have either of you noticed any at home recently?”
Alex steps in first, “I call out her name but she doesn’t respond. I have to wave my hand to get her attention. And she hasn’t said her first words yet.”
“Could this hearing loss be caused by an underlying condition like encephalitis or CMV?” Jo asks worriedly.
“Well, she hasn’t been vomiting or had a fever, has she?”
“No.” Alex confirms.
“Then it’s neither but we’ll run labs just to be sure. Until then we have to first confirm that she has hearing loss.” Jo inhales at this as Jackson continues, “We’ll do a BAER test that’s the-”
“Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response we know.” Alex informs him worried as well.
Jackson nods seeing that it’s best to do this quick and get the results fast, “Okay you two can be in the room to hold Luna while I do the test. I’ll get the equipment out now.”
Jo swallows before turning to Alex who rubs her back in comfort as they wait for Jackson to set up so they can get a diagnosis that could change their lives forever.
An Hour Later
Jackson looks at the BAER results on his tablet in agony as the results confirm that Luna Karev does indeed have progressive hearing loss. He paces the Imaging Room trying to figure out a way to give this devastating news to Alex and Jo and he can’t come up with one idea that ends good. But then again there’s no way to spin your only child going deaf. The door opens stopping his thoughts as he sees his wife, April Kepner, come in.
“Hey.” April greets him with a grin before closing the door, “Your mom took Harriet and Mark to Marios after her meeting. I swear those kids have a better wardrobe than me.”
Jackson grins at hearing how their daughter and baby son are spending their day with their grandma. He would take that over holding his good friend’s baby’s diagnosis in his hands right now. He sits in a chair while April looks at him inquisitively.
“Are you okay?” April stands in front of him with kind eyes that always make him feel safe to share his turmoil, “What’s wrong?”
Jackson sighs before handing her the tablet, “I just got Luna Karev’s BAER results.”
April’s face falls as she reads the chart, “Oh no, do they know?”
“Not yet I’m just…” Jackson pinches the bridge of his nose, “I’m trying to figure out how to tell them this piece of news. I swear this is so much easier when I don’t know the parents.”
April looks at Jackson in pity squeezing his shoulder, “I know.”
Jackson shakes his head at this, “I knew what I came here for but a part of me, a huge part of me was hoping that it was nothing that there was nothing to tell. But there is and now I have to give them the worst news of their lives.”
“Kids like Luna can be deaf and live their best lives.” April points out, “I mean that CODA movie we saw won three freaking Oscars and Tony Kotsur is actually deaf and he gave his winning speech in ASL. If it wasn’t for Will Smith slapping Chris that would have made the awards memorable.”
Jackson chuckles lightly at that couple’s night of theirs remembering how shocked they were and how funny they found that memeable moment.
“Thanks, I needed a laugh.”
April strokes Jackson’s cheek, “There’s not gonna be a nice way to tell them, you just tell them the way you normally would with a patients family and guide them to resources so they can learn how to live with this along with their child. It’s horrible but knowing Alex and Jo they will be fine as long as they know their daughter is alive and healthy.”
Jackson looks at his wife in awe before nodding, “Your right.”
“I usually am.” April smugly grins causing her husband to chuckle and kiss her before leaving the room. He walks down the hall as slowly as he can while he recites his diagnosis in his head, so he doesn’t fumble and mess up. He stands outside the exam room for a good five seconds before going in seeing Alex and Jo with Luna sitting on the exam table playing with her stuffed unicorn.
He closes the door behind him before standing in front of them with a stoic face as the couple look at him anxious for the diagnosis, “The BAER test confirms that Luna has progressive hearing loss, I’m sorry guys.”
Alex and Jo look at each other in worry before Jo turns to Jackson with heartbroken eyes, “…What’s next?”
“We need to do an OAE to get a more accurate auditory read. She’ll be asleep for that and you two will be with her while I run the test it’s noninvasive and she won’t feel any pain.”
Alex clears his throat to get the lump in his throat out as he processes this news, “What about an MRI? To rule out underlying conditions and tumors?”
“And a genetic test, she’s adopted we don’t know what’s in her blood, it could be a genetic cause.” Jo adds causing Alex to nod in agreement.
“I will do both after the OAE. Now we can do the test today but the scan and bloodwork is gonna have to wait until tomorrow.” Jackson tells the Karev’s, “I will get someone to put a rush on the results but the latest we can get the full results back is tomorrow night. I’m sorry but this is the best I can do right now.”
Jo sniffles with her tears glistening her eyes, “Could this be…could it be something fatal?”
Jackson looks at the couple in pity before answering, “We don’t know, we won’t know anything until we go over all of our tests.”
Alex nods understanding, “You’ll cover all the bases, right?”
“I always do. Now I’m gonna give Luna a light sedation before we get started. You two can hold her while I give her the oral administration. We should start now so we can get the results much faster, are you ready Luna?” Jo and Alex nod before holding Luna still as Jackson fills a mouth syringe with the medicine for their baby.
Later That Night
Alex looks over the brochure he got from the auditory floor while walking out of the hospital with Jo who is pushing Luna forward in her stroller. The test Avery ran for Luna revealed a lack of OAE in both of her ears that further confirms isolated hearing loss.
Now they are looking to go home and try to sleep before Luna has her MRI and genetic tests tomorrow that will tell them if this is a result of an underlying condition or not. Alex can see the worry forming in Jo’s eyes and tries to comfort her once again.
“Avery is the best ENT we could ask for; he goes to the bat for all of his patients not just the ones related to his friends.” Jo nods but still has a frown, “Most of these cases it’s just progressive hearing loss with no genetic conditions or tumors. And technology has come a long way, hearing aids are state of the art or we can use a cochlear implant.”
Jo sighs, “Can you…can you just not?”
Alex can see he’s upsetting Jo and wants to mend his mistake, “I’m just trying to let you know that this isn’t as scary as it seems.”
“Yes it is Alex.” Jo stops to face him with a frustrated face and tears in her eyes, “It’s extremely scary!”
Alex is taken back by this and looks at Luna who is sleeping in her stroller absent of the yelling. He stands back up and inhales and exhales to keep his mind at ease over this recent diagnosis. He thought that Jo needed reassurance, but he can see now that all she wants is someone who understands her pain, and he is the only other person who can. So he decides to make it known instead of shoving it down for his family’s sake.
“Your right.” Jo sniffles at Alex’s confirmation wiping a tear away, “It is scary, this scares me as much as it scares you. I’m scared of what this diagnosis could be a result of and even if it’s just progressive hearing loss I’m scared of what will happen after. I’m scared of Luna becoming an outcast and not having the advantages we had growing up. I’m scared of screwing up sign language and being one of those parents that doesn’t communicate with their child. I’m…I’m scared that I won’t be able to help Luna through this transition in her life.”
Jo has another tear down her cheek and she moves to hug Alex who hugs her back so they can comfort each other. For a moment they stand there in the hospital entryway holding each other with their baby sleeping inside her stroller. They share the pain that is coming from this scary diagnosis from their child who they love more than anything. Jo pulls back and wipes her wet cheeks as Alex grips her upper arms to keep her from breaking down completely.
“But just because we’re scared of that happening doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.” Alex states positively knowing it’s what Jo needs to hear as well, “Is it gonna be hard? Yes. Are we gonna know everything we need to do from now on? No. Even if it is just progressive hearing loss it’s gonna be hard for all of us. I know that but I also know that we can get through this and come out stronger than ever. We did it when you got out of treatment and we did it with Luna after she was born. If we can do that then we can do this, I know we can you have to know that too.”
Jo sniffles looking at Alex with awe and love before kissing his cheek, “I do know that.”
Alex nods before putting his arm around his wife, “Let’s go home.” Jo pushes Luna forward in her stroller with Alex by her side as they leave to go home as a family.

AN: So I finished this months ago and was like ‘oh I'll save it for Halloween’ and I got so into the Jolex Halloween fic that I forgot to post this! Anyway better late than never I hope you all enjoy because I've always said that this is how this scene should have been!
…………………………………………………………………
Jo looked through Alex’s books on the shelf behind his desk. She hadn’t gotten the chance to see her husband’s new office yet. It was very much like the one at Grey-Slone, but smaller and dirtier. He had a few wrestling magazines, some good management books, and Ped’s medical journals. She ran her fingers along the spines as she read the titles.
“Let's get out of here,” Alex said, coming into the room and letting the folder drop onto his desk. “Today was a nightmare.”
“Hey,” Jo said, reaching up and holding his face as he looked at her. “You are amazing. You are turning a house of horrors into a legit hospital, and I am sorry if those investors can't see that.”
“Well, don't be,” Alex said, raising his eyebrows and giving her a slight smile. “I'm getting a new research facility.”
“They gave you the funding?”
“Yeah, they said they were impressed with my ability to handle chaos.”
“They don't even know the half of it,” Jo said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “They should visit your childhood.”
“Hey, you know what?” Ale said, as he pulled back from another kiss.
“Yeah?”
“We should do something to celebrate,” Alex said, not telling her his plans just yet.
“Great. I am absolutely dressed for that,” Jo said, holding out the skirt of her dress before she looked up at him, seeing that familiar glint of trouble in his eyes. “What?”
“What time does the courthouse close?” Alex said with a smile as Jo tilted her head.
He held out his hand and Jo let him pull her away.
…………………………………………………………………
They were standing in the courthouse together. Jo can hardly believe that they were doing this, but she was so giddy. She still loved standing there in her white dress, holding his hands and loving every word he said to her. She was so wrapped up in this moment. It was the perfect wedding and she couldn't even believe the courthouse was open this late much less on Halloween. Although she was possibly elated more so about the fact that she got Alex to actually wear the vampire teeth. She knew he did it only for her.
It's not their wedding on the ferry boat at sunset. She didn't have the perfect white dress and they didn't have their friends and family, but it was an intimate moment that they would have forever.
Finally, it was her turn to say her vows. They had the traditional vows as she repeated after the judge. She's been trying to think of the right thing to say to make her vows a little unique for him. The second the idea popped up in her head, she knew she had to do it. It would also surprise him and possibly scare him a little bit, but hopefully in a good way.
“For better or worse.”
“For better or worse.” Jo repeated after him.
“For richer or poorer.”
“For richer… or pregnant,” Jo said in a single breath as she watched Alex take in her words.
For a second he just stood there, gobsmacked. His eyes were wide and his lips parted. She wasn’t sure if he actually heard her. Although, judging by the look on his face he did.
“What?” Alex asked, his voice muffled by the vampire teeth.
“I'm pregnant,” Jo said, confirming it to him with a nervous little smile.
“Are you serious,” Alex asked, still surprised and Jo suddenly got nervous about telling him like this.
“Yes,” Jo said, biting her lip as she nodded. “Why do you think I dressed up and have been following you around at work all day? I’ve been trying to tell you all day, but it’s been one catastrophe after another at the hospital. I didn't want to stress you out at work so I just figured I'd wait to tell you at home, but then you wanted to get legally married….”
Before Jo could say anything more, Alex cut her off with a kiss. He pressed his lips into hers and she could feel the excitement on his lips. He smiled against her lips and she pulled back to see him with a broad smile.
“You’re really pregnant?” Alex asked, sure of himself, but more so asking her to say it again.
“Yes, I’m pregnant,” Jo said with a matching smile that started to hurt her cheeks.
He looked down at her stomach and let go of one of her hands to reach down to hold her belly, rubbing his thumb in a little circle. There's nothing there quite yet, just the tiniest curve of her belly where her uterus was a little more prominent. She wasn’t sure if he could even feel it yet.
“We're gonna have a baby,” Alex said, his voice giddy with his large smile.
“Yeah we're going to have a baby,” Jo said sighing in contentment as he leaned in and kissed her again.
The officiant let them have their moment, but after their second kiss, he cleared his throat. They reluctantly parted, but Alex still smiled wide and happy and he kept his hand on her belly. Jo felt like she was floating on air. She was so happy at this moment and she can barely contain it.
Jo looked over at him and smiled as she repeated her vows. “For richer or poor. “
Alex leaned in and she did too as their noses touch and they smile at each other. He gave her a little smile and held her belly through the rest of the preceding until they were finally officially and legally married. Alex leaned in and kissed her with lips full of passion. Jo melted into him with a little moan. As she let herself be consumed by his lips. She wrapped her arms around him and put one hand on his cheek, holding him against her for as long as possible. They only break apart when they're desperate for air.
After they got out of the court, having filed all the correct documents and making sure everything was in order, Alex kissed her again as he led her out to the car, holding her hand. He pulled her against him as he kissed her against the car. He fumbled with the door handle until they fell into the backseat. Jo sat up with a laugh as he undid the ties on her dress and forced it open.
Instead of his hands going to more intimate places, he smiled as he leaned down and stared at her belly. Jo easily smiled as she put her hand on his cheek, his eyes glance up at her before he looked back down at their baby. He put one hand over her bump, gently gracing her skin before he held the little bump.
“Hey you,” Alex said as he leaned down and kissed her bump. “I'm your Daddy, it's nice to meet you.”
Jo reached up to tangle her hand in his hair as he leaned down to kiss her bump. “You're finally gonna be a dad.”
“And you're gonna be a mom,” Alex said with a smile as he came up and kissed her lips. “And don't worry because you're going to be an amazing mom, Jo.”
Jo smiled and sighed, she knew he was right and she was finally ready. She was going to be a mom and he was going to be a dad and they were going to have the family they always wanted.

Terrified that the PD writers/Gwen are going to pull a jolex and have Jay tell Hailey that he isn’t coming back, found peace where he is and send her divorce papers already signed and tells her that she deserves to be happy. Praying so hard that scenario never happens bc I don’t think I’ll be able to recover. Hopefully they will have them make their way back to each other, Hailey will leave the show and upstead will live happily together far away from the 21st district.
I can only hope that if Tracy is leave that she will voice her hopes and opinions about how she wants her character/upsteads ending and I hope to god that g**w and the writers will listen to her
Hi there anon -
Sorry I've been sitting on this a few days.
I am very scared they are going to do something like that...To some extent I am worried we are going to enter season eleven and they'll quickly address it happening in the white space between the seasons. Given how season ten went, I can see Gwen & Co. pulling a card like that.
If Tracy does leave, I hope that she does voice her opinion - I think her using the hashtag last year in the goodbye post #UpsteadForever - gives us a pretty good insight into where she stands on the matter. I'll forever hold out hope that whenever she choses to leave, they'll wrap their storylines up together. I think Jesse wouldn't mind coming back for that. But given the strike and how the fact we are currently still very much in the thick of it, I don't think we are going to happen for a bit still. Whatever she does choose, I only hope she does what is best for her!

what’s my hand without your heart to hold - part one
“I’m not leaving. I’m not like everyone else.”
“I don’t know if I can believe that right now.”
-or-
the one where Jo is a firefighter, Alex is a resident, and chaos ensues
Tumblr media
GUYS!! You have no idea how excited I’ve been to post this fic. I hope you all enjoy this little crossover AU. It takes place during season six of grey’s but if you have any questions or need clarification, please feel free to reach out to me :)
Also, happy grey’s day ☺️
She found him at the bar across the street from the hospital. He was well onto his seventh drink and the bartender had already confiscated his keys. He sat in the booth alone, looking as though he was angry with the world, and he had every right to be. After all, his wife had just disappeared and left a note in her wake.
Jo would be lying if she said she’d been surprised. Call it instinctual or intuition, but Jo wasn’t entirely shocked to hear that Izzie had left Alex. The manner in which Izzie left was horrible and shocking, but the act itself wasn’t. Trauma changes people. Being on the brink of death meant trying to fight with everything within oneself to experience everything before one's time was up.
Izzie did that. She lived life as if she were going to die tomorrow, because the reality of the situation was that it was highly probable. Except, she didn’t. Izzie lived and suddenly found herself with a life that she hadn’t really chosen. Cancer chose it for her.
So, Jo wasn’t at all shocked to hear that the stark reality of that finally caught up to the woman. She’d just thought it wouldn’t happen for quite some time. And she certainly had not expected Izzie to disappear into thin air. She thought it would be different for Alex. She thought that the world would be kind to her friend and allow him a bit of happiness for once.
Alex. Her most unexpected friend in the past three years. She still remembered meeting him in the ambulance bay one morning as she was bringing Hughes into the emergency room.
——
She bumped into someone.
“Hey, watch it.”
“Sorry,” Jo breathed out as she smoothed her hair out of her face, not looking up at the man she’d run into. She had other priorities. Vic Hughes had gotten injured on a scene and needed someone to look over her injuries. She needed to get to trauma two, that’s where Dr. Bailey said they’d be.
“Why are you following me?”
Jo finally looked up at the man in front of her, “I’m a firefighter. Vic’s one of my teammates. I brought her in from a garage fire we were working on.”
A look of understanding crossed the man’s face, and he motioned for her to follow him. Jo walked silently behind him until they reached the door of the trauma room and walked inside. “Well hello, firefighter. You got a name?”
“Jo Wilson.”
“Nice, I like chicks with boys' names.”
“Karev,” Dr. Bailey gave the man standing across from her an unimpressed look. “Stop flirting with the nice firefighter. I need your hands over here.”
“I wasn’t flirting,” the man—Karev—paused when Bailey sent another look his way. “Okay, maybe I was flirting a little bit.” He turned to Jo and have her a heart stopping crooked smile. “Hi, Jo. I’m Alex.”
Jo let out a laugh in disbelief and rolled her eyes. “Hi, Alex. Now will you listen to the angry resident glaring at you and fix my friend please?”
“Oh. Yeah.”
——
After Alex’s initial attempt to get into her pants was pushed to the side, the two of them developed quite the friendship. It started with short moments in the emergency room and quick exchanges that eventually turned into hanging out with Alex and the other residents during their free time. Throughout the past few years Jo had grown especially close to Dr. Bailey’s original group of interns. So much so, that when Dr. Bailey divorced her husband, Jo, Alex, Meredith, Travis, and Jack all worked together to set Bailey up with one of the firefighters at Station 19, Ben Warren.
That’s why this was so hard. Alex meant so much to her and she hated to see him in pain. Jo sighed. I knew this would happen. I hoped it wouldn’t, but it did. Still, expecting this doesn’t make it any easier.
“Alex?” Jo placed a hand on Alex’s shoulder, seeing him startle at the touch.
“Wilson,” he grumbled. “Get out of here. I want to be alone.”
“You know, I don’t think that’s such a good idea.”
“Well I really don’t give a damn about what you think,” Alex slurred. “I don’t want you here. I just want to drink and be left alone.”
“I’m not going to leave you alone,” Jo sat down in front of him. “Not when you’re so drunk that Joe took your keys away from you three drinks ago.”
“How’d you find out?” Alex continued drinking the beer in his hand.
“I went to visit Meredith in her hospital room since she’s recovering from the liver donation and all. She practically begged me to come find you and make sure you didn’t die from alcohol poisoning.”
“I’m fine,” Alex crossed his arms in front of his chest. “You can go now. You don’t need to be there.”
“I think I’m gonna stay,” Jo replied.
“Aren’t you busy right now? You’re in uniform. I’m drunk and I even know what that means.”
“I have a few minutes,” Jo relaxed in her seat.
“I can think of better places to spend your rare moments of free time than here in this bar with me,” Alex attempted to get her to leave again.
“Alex, I’m staying. Stop trying to come up with excuses to get me to leave.”
“Why are you so determined to stay here? Just leave! It’s not that hard. Get your ass off the chair and walk it out the bar. Walk out the here. Walk out of my life!” Alex let out a breath and his face fell. “Everyone else has.”
If her heart could crack in two it might have just broken into pieces at that moment.
“No,” she stated firmly.
“No?”
“No,” Jo repeated. She reached over the table and grabbed one of his hands. “I’m not leaving. I’m not like everyone else.”
“I don’t know if I can believe that right now,” Alex said, being uncharacteristically vulnerable.
“That’s okay. You don’t have to believe that I’ll be here forever. Just believe that I’m here for right now,” she squeezed the hand she was holding. “Can you do that?”
For the first time since Jo walked into the bar, Alex looked her in the eye, “Yeah. I can do that.”
“Good,” Jo felt a wave of relief come over her. Without letting go of his hand, she stood up.  “Come on. Let’s get you home.”
“I don’t want to go home,” Alex shook his head. “I hate that trailer in the woods. It smells like her.”
“Okay, we won’t go to the trailer. That’s fine. But you’re coming with me,” Jo pulled on his arm. “Get up.”
“No, Jo I’m okay. I’ll just stay in one of the on call rooms,” Alex waved his hand. “Go home.”
“You are not in any state to walk inside that hospital right now unless you want to lose your job. Come on, I’m on shift right now. You can ride back to the station with me in the aid car,” Jo started guiding him through the small crowd and out the door. “Montgomery is probably cleaning it from our last call as we speak.”
“I don’t wanna,” Alex grumbled.
“I’ll give you a ride in the fire truck to work tomorrow morning,” Jo made one last attempt to get him to go willingly.
With an almost childlike pout, Alex crossed his arms and huffed, “Fine. But only because you’re letting me ride in the truck.”
Jo rolled her eyes and led Alex towards where Travis was waiting in the back of the ambulance, “How is he?”
“Drunk,” Jo pushed Alex onto one of the seats, strapping him in carefully.
“Where are we dropping him off?” Travis asked as he turned the ignition and started out of the ambulance bay.
“We’re not. I’m bringing him to the station. He can sleep it off on one of the bunks until morning.”
“You think the Captain’s gonna be okay with that?” Travis raised an eyebrow at Jo. “You know how he is about rules and stuff.”
“Yeah, but I also know he has a soft spot for me since you know, the whole finding me abandoned at our very station as a baby,” Jo shot Travis a smile. “Besides, he’s not gonna be at the station tonight. He’s got a doctor’s appointment in the morning, so I’m in charge tonight.”
“Ooh, I love it when Lieutenant Wilson is in charge. She lets us use the fireman pole,” Travis glanced back towards where Alex was slumped against the bench. “You’re gonna have to make sure you keep that one far away from it, though. We don’t need him stumbling across it and breaking his neck or something equally stupid.”
“Yeah, I think I’m just going to lock him in my bunk until morning,” Jo’s face softened as she heard a soft snore come from Alex.
Travis stared at her for a moment before setting his eyes back on the road.
“What?” Jo asked.
“Hmm?”
“You’re giving me a weird look,” Jo narrowed her eyes. “Have you been talking to Bishop?”
“Now why would you think I’ve been talking to anyone? Is there something that needs to be talked about?” Travis gave Jo a pointed look.
“Montgomery.”
“Fine,” Travis rolled his eyes. “It was Gibson actually.”
“What?” Jo furrowed her brow. “What does Gibson know?”
“You act as if you haven’t known that man practically your whole life. He’s basically your brother. He knows you better than you know yourself,” Travis shook his head. “Not to mention Andy and Warren and Hughes. Miller is betting on how long it’s gonna take for you to get your head out of your ass. Hell, I’m sure even Pruitt had noticed something by now. Well, maybe not Pruitt, but you know what I’m trying to say.”
“Noticed what?”
Travis glanced back to make sure Alex was still asleep. Satisfied after hearing another snore, he spoke, “That you’re in love with the married doctor sitting in the back of the ambulance.”
“Well, his wife left him. So he might not be married anymore soon,” she shrugged.
“Jo!”
“I’m kidding. Mostly,” Jo stared out the window. “I’m a horrible person right? I’m actually happy that she’s gone… He’s married. She’s his wife. He’s in love with her. He took care of her while she was sick and she just got up and left, breaking his heart in the process.”
“You’re not a horrible person,” Travis slowed as they reached an intersection. “You’re just a person who finds herself in a complicated situation. One where you fell in love with your best friend and waited too long to tell him so he moved on with someone else. Not only did he move on with another woman, he married her while you were too busy trying to work on your commitment issues to stop him.”
“Geez, way to rub it in,” Jo looked up at the traffic signal. “Light’s green.”
“Does everyone really know?” Jo asked after a stretch of silence.
“Yeah pretty much,” Travis gave her a sheepish grin. “You’re not super obvious or anything, but we know you. It’s the little things. You gravitate towards him. You light up whenever he walks into a room. Normally, you’re more direct and rough around the edges. But when you’re with him, you soften. And not in a bad way that you lose all your grip or anything like that. But it’s like that hardness and stoicism in which you view the world slowly dissipates when you’re around him. Which is hilarious considering he might be more of a pessimist than you are.”
She couldn’t really refute any of that, so she just hummed. “Hmm.”
“Promise me you’ll be careful,” Travis said as they pulled into the station.
“Be careful with what?” Jo scrunched her face in confusion.
“Your heart,” Travis shut off the engine as turned to face her. “I just—I don’t want you to get hurt. You’re an amazing person and you deserve to be more than some sad guy’s rebound. Especially that guy snoring in the corner over there.”
As much as she hated to admit it, Travis was right. About a lot of things. About her feelings. About her desire for more than friendship with Alex. About her deserving to be more than a rebound. She had been burned one too many times in the past to finally realize that she was worth someone’s time and effort.
So despite everything within her screaming to hold onto that girlish dream, Jo decided to push it aside again. She’d done it before and she could do it again. Because you don’t become a female firefighter, let alone the youngest Lieutenant at your station by wearing your heart on your sleeve.
“Hope you had a nice nap but it’s time to get up,” Jo gave Alex a light shove.
“Hey! What the hell was that for?” Alex grunted in annoyance at being woken up.
“We’re here. I need you to get up. I can’t let you sleep in the back of the ambulance all night,” Jo pulled him up from the seat. “Come on, you just need to walk back towards the bunks and then you can go back to bed.”
Even in his drunken state, Alex was still himself enough to glare at her, “Why am I here again?”
“Because you don’t need to be alone tonight,” Jo helped him down to the ground. “Also, I promised to give you a ride to work in the fire truck tomorrow if you came to the station with me.”
“Oh yeah,” Alex’s lips formed an ‘O’ shape. “Alright, I’m ready to go back to bed. The faster I fall asleep the closer I’ll be to riding in the truck in the morning.”
“You’re a mess, you know that?”
“Yeah,” Alex shrugged cockily. “I’m a hot mess though.”
“Oh, shush.”

(March 2009 cont.)
Jo was exhausted, more so than she’d ever thought she had been before. Her day had been shitty, she’d been barfed on twice, and she hadn’t seen Alex since she rolled out of bed that morning. The moment that Shepherd came up to her and let her know that she could leave for the day, she jumped at the opportunity and rushed to change out of her scrubs as quickly as possible. All she wanted at the moment was to get into the loft, take off her shoes, and drink a bottle of wine while her and Alex snuggled on the couch.
Of course, why would anything work out for her? The door was jammed, something that it had a habit of doing in the winter months that drove her insane. Despite her upper body strength, she was never quite able to pry the heavy metal door open without Alex’s help. A groan left her as she began to dig through her purse in search of her phone. She didn’t think Alex was home, meaning she would have to call him and then wait for him to get there before she could get in.
Frustrated tears welled in her eyes as she struggled to find her phone, the emotions she’d been holding back all day coming to a head when she realized she would be stuck in the hallway until Alex came home. The small inconvenience was the tipping point for her as she slid down the door and began to cry loudly.
“Jo? What are you doing?” the door opened suddenly, Jo falling backwards as Alex pulled it back. She looked up from her place on the floor, eyes staring up at Alex in confusion. “Why are you crying? What’s wrong?”
“I couldn’t open the door,” Jo made no effort to move from her spot laid out on the floor as she cried. “And then I couldn’t find my phone and I got puked on today and I just want some wine.” Alex kneeled down next to her, a small smile on his lips as he brushed her hair out of her face, “I have wine inside, you gotta get up though.” Jo took Alex’s outstretched hand, standing up and following him into their apartment. The living room was dark, the lights off but the room illuminated by dozens of candles that laid out everywhere. Jo turned around to look at Alex, who wore a crooked grin on his face as she looked up at him, “Wh—how? How’d you do all this?” “Bailey let me go early,” Alex shrugged, wrapping his arms around Jo’s waist. “I wanted to surprise you.”
Jo blinked once, twice, a third time before a gasp escaped her and her brain caught up with what was happening. The candles, the button up shirt her boyfriend was wearing, the stupid grin on Alex’s face… It all made sense now, “You let me lay on the floor? You’re planning on proposing and you let me lay on the damn floor?!”
“I got you to stand up! If I had known you were gonna lay on the floor I would have stopped you,” Alex laughed, kissing Jo sweetly before pulling back. “Now there’s something I’ve gotta do. It’s a little cheesy, but…” Jo watched in shock and awe as Alex kneeled down in front of her, grasping her hands in his as he looked up at her with a stupid grin, “Before you, I was just some stupid selfish kid riding through life without a care in the world. And then I met you and something in my stupid brain told me that you were different, you were worth it. And for some reason I decided to listen to that little part of my brain and… it was the best decision I could’ve made. Before I met you I always wanted to run, but I couldn’t run from you, not when you feel so much like home. Not when you’re the only person who’s loved me for exactly who I am… You’re so screwed up that you make me make sense. You and me, we just fit. And I want it all with you, everything else that happens from here on out I want you there with me, Jo. So…” Alex reached into his pocket, Jo’s breath hitching in her throat as she watched in slow motion as he opened the velvet box in his hands. The stupid cheesy grin on his face seemed to grow tenfold as he stared up at her with teary, hopeful eyes, “Josephine Wilson, will you please do me the immense honor of becoming my wife?”
“Yes! Hell yes, a million times yes,” Jo leaned down and pressed her hands against Alex’s cheeks, kissing him soundly as she struggled to hold back her tears. “This makes up for all the barf and the laying on the floor.”
Alex laughed as he let a few tears escape his eyes. He stood up and slid the ring he’d spent the past two weeks obsessing over on Jo’s finger, marveling at the sight of it finally on her hand. He stared at her for a couple seconds, in awe of the woman in front of him. This was real. Jo had actually agreed to marry him.
Jo must’ve noticed his amused expression because she looked at him weirdly, “What?”
“Nothing,” Alex shrugged, a light chuckle escaping. “It’s just… out of everything in the history of my life, nothing has surprised me more than getting you to agree to marry me.”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Jo brought her hand up to his face again. “I love you. I love you more than I ever thought possible. You make me feel safe and at home. You are my heart. Why wouldn’t I want to marry you?”
At that moment, Alex didn’t really think there were words that could articulate everything he wanted to say to Jo. So, he did what he did best. He decided to show her.
Leaning in for another kiss, Alex wrapped his arms around Jo, pulling her close to him. Jo buried her hands in his hair, kissing him back as if he was the very air she needed to breathe. When they finally parted, Alex allowed his lips to trail down the column of her throat. He let Jo’s soft gasps and whimpers be his guide as he led them over to the couch just a few feet away.
Jo giggled as they fell back onto the couch cushions, “Really? The couch. We just got engaged and you want to have sex on the couch? The bed is right there.”
“I’m impatient,” Alex’s hands found their way underneath her shirt and teased her exposed skin, causing Jo to shiver. “And I really don’t think you want me to stop, so I’m going to keep going. Besides, I told Shepherd we weren’t coming in tomorrow, so we’ve got all night to celebrate.”
“All night?” Jo raised her eyebrows. “Is that a promise?”
“Oh, definitely,” Alex’s lips curved into a smug grin. “You aren’t gonna know what hit you.”
“Well then why are you still talking? Get to work,” Jo ordered as she stripped off her shirt and began to unbutton Alex’s.
“Yes, ma’am,” Alex laughed as he helped her undress him and bent down to press light kisses along the edge of her bra. He played with the straps before reaching behind her to unhook it. He grinned as Jo’s breasts were finally exposed and leaned forward to kiss between her cleavage. “God, you are so beautiful. I love you so damn much.”
“You just love my boobs,” Jo teased. “Don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
“I do. I really do love your boobs,” Alex confirmed, not even looking the slightest bit embarrassed at having said it. “But I don’t hear you complaining about the attention I give them.”
“Oh no, by all means, please continue,” Jo grinned brightly as she watched him excitedly return to kissing her breasts.
Alex took his time giving each breast an equal amount of attention, taking each nipple in his mouth and swelling with pride as he saw Jo’s chest rise and fall and her back arch in response to his ministrations. Her chest and cheeks were flushed and her breaths were becoming more shallow, signaling that she was highly aroused and well on her way to what he was sure would be an intense climax.
He loved that he could do this for her. He loved that he could make her feel this much pleasure. He loved that he could make her feel desired and cherished. It was humbling and thrilling all at the same time. The fact that they were engaged now, only made the thought that much more incredible. For the rest of their lives, he’d be the only one who would get to see her this way.
“Alex,” Jo breathed out softly, pulling him from his thoughts. “No more teasing. I need you, right now.”
With an understanding nod, Alex let his hands slide down to Jo’s hips, unbuttoning her jeans and quickly pulling them off. He stood to remove his own pants, heart swelling at the look Jo fixed him with, “What's that look for?”
“Nothing, I just really love you,” Jo grinned as she rose up on her knees and reached for Alex, bringing him down into a searing kiss. “And I really can’t wait to take your last name.”
Alex paused and looked at her strangely, “You want to take my last name?”
“I mean, yeah if it’s alright with you,” Jo shrugged shyly. “I know it isn’t common for female surgeons to do that anymore, but I just… I’d really like to take your last name, because I’ve never had the last name of anyone who’s ever loved me.”
“I love you so much, future Dr. Karev,” a chuckle left Alex as Jo pushed him down onto the couch, legs straddling his waist as she brought their lips together again. Her hot core was grinding down onto his throbbing erection, a groan coming from Alex as he wrapped his arms around Jo’s waist, “God, I’ve been thinking about this all damn day.”
“Well I’m glad I can finally give you what you want, Dr. Karev,” a smirk crossed Jo’s face as she sunk down onto Alex in one swift move, both of them letting a groan of relief out. Alex buried his face into Jo’s neck, his tongue darting out to tease at the hot skin as she began to move at a tortuously slow rate above him. “This makes my whole day worth it.”
The pace Jo set was good, she felt perfect around him, but Alex needed more. Watching her moan and writhe above him had set something off within him and he wanted to savor the moment. With a x quick flip in position, Alex laid Jo down on the couch, pressing his hips into hers and eliciting a loud moan from her as she adjusted to the new position.
Alex watched in fascination as Jo’s back arched off the couch with each long thrust he made, her mouth agape as she let her moans fill the hot air between them. Bracing his hands on both sides of her head, Alex leaned down to bite at Jo’s neck again, his teeth marking her skin as he let the pace of his thrusts quicken.
“Alex… oh my god,” Jo’s voice was impossibly high pitched as she let her nails dig into Alex’s back, spurring him on to keep his wild pace up as she began to move her hips in time with them. He’d wanted to take things slow, to cherish Jo and worship her body after she had agreed to become his wife, but she’d had other plans and he knew as soon as she’d sat astride his lap earlier that he’d be a goner, succumbing to whatever it was that she wanted from him. “More, please more.”
Wasting no time in heeding Jo’s request Alex grabbed one of her legs and brought it up to wrap around his hips, letting him hit her at a deeper angle as he increased the speed of his thrusts. He could feel the way that he bottomed out with each movement of his hips, disjointed moans coming from Jo as her nails raked down his arms and grasped at the burning skin.
Alex and Jo had had sex hundreds of times before this, they’d used every available flat surface they could find to get in each other’s pants. But this, this desperate and hot session on their couch was something that Alex didn’t think he would ever be able to forget. Jo’s breathy moans and the way she called his name as she neared her release imprinted themselves into his brain, his mind tucking away the image of her letting out a slow and throaty moan as she came, her eyes flitting up to meet Alex’s in a love drunk haze.
“You look gorgeous,” his words were low, almost a growl as his thrusts began to turn sloppy. Pressing his forehead against Jo’s, Alex let their lips ghost over each other as his own orgasm crept up inside of him. “I love you… I love you so much.”
Alex dipped his head down to Jo’s neck as he finally let himself go, spilling inside of her as she let out a desperate moan. The two laid still for a moment as they came to, letting themselves catch their breath and relish in the moment. When he finally did move, Alex laid himself out on the couch and brought Jo into his chest.
“I can’t believe you proposed to me,” Jo giggled, holding her hand up to inspect the ring that now graced her left hand. “I mean I knew you would eventually, but I’m still shocked. I didn’t think I’d ever get a happy ending.”
“You deserve everything good in this life, Jo. And I will do everything in my power to make sure we have a very happy life together,” Alex said, while Jo cuddled into his chest, his arm around her body.
“What is this? Are we exchanging vows now?” Jo chuckled.
“No, but I wanted you to know that this is what I’ve been preparing for. I am ready to make sure we have a life full of all that crap we see on those stupid romantic movies you make me watch,” he grunted, pretending to be mad, but not being able to hide the sweetness and happiness in his voice.
“I am sure we will have a very happy life together,” she smiled at him brightly and let out a dreamy sigh as she stared at her ring. “I can’t wait to be a Karev.”
“Jo Karev does have a nice ring to it, doesn’t?” Alex nodded and placed a kiss to her forehead.
“It sure does,” Jo grinned widely.
“I love you,” he pecked her lips.
“I love you too, fiancé.”
AHHHHHH!! It finally happened. What did you guys think? What do you want to see next?

What even is this fic? Idk, but i was missing gymnastics, so this is what y’all get. Its super bad, super weird, and not a whole lotta jolex, but whatever.
Also, nobody cares, but the way I'm giving the scores is (most likely) different than what is averaged for Washington. I’ve never competed in Washington so i don’t know how hard their scoring is, but I did compete in one of the hardest regions in the US for gymnasts, so scoring was always a LOT more harsh than it was in other states and areas of states. Even though nobody is gonna pay attention to that I just thought I'd say something lol.
And fun fact- our girl is a (much) better gymnast than i ever was, so… tea 🍵🍵

~*~
Jo watched her husband do their daughter’s hair from the doorway, some kind of a braided bun she didn’t know the name of. She smiled at the sight. It never failed to bring a smile to her face, even though it had become pretty common these past few years. She cradled the bottom of her six month baby bump in the palm of her left hand, her right holding her piping hot tea in a thermos. Once Alex was done putting in all of the excess pins, she watches as he puts a hand over their daughter’s eyes, pulling out the can of hairspray and spraying it into her hair.
The almost nine year old girl lets out a giggle, commenting on how the hairspray smelt funny. Alex pulls out an Amped Up brush, combing back any flyaway hairs that might have escaped the spray. She snaps out of her trance when she hears her phone alarm go off, alerting the other two in the room of her presence.
“Mommy!” her daughter exclaims, running over to her to give her a quick hug, much to the dismay of Alex. He was just thankful that he was already done with her hair. Even after three years of doing hair it still took a long ass time to do buns, especially when his daughter was the perfectionist she was.
“Hey Dyl,” Jo reaches down, returning her daughter’s hug, giving her a tight squeeze before she watches Dylan retreat back to her dad, sitting in front of the mirror once again.
Jo looks at Alex, who’s attention was focused on adding the shiny black scrunchie into the little girl’s hair. “I’m gonna get Aub up.” she whispers to him, watching him nod before she turns and makes her way down the hall, where their three year old daughter was sleeping. It was only five-thirty, so she knew what a hassle it would be. Aubryella was exactly like her parents in that way, a complete night owl. It was always a hassle to get the girl down at night, but even tougher to wake her up in the morning. She flicks on the small night on the girl’s bedside table, the lamp shade casting a soft pink glow around the all pink room.
Much like her name, Aubryella was the definition of a girly-girl. She was all about pink, barbies, fashion, makeup… anything that would be described as girly, the three year old liked. Alex always gave props to Jo for that, since while she was pregnant with their youngest daughter she claimed that the tiny life growing inside of her was going to be an ‘all that and a bag of chips little diva’, so she thought it was only appropriate to give her a name to suit that title. (Good thing her mommy instincts were correct. She knew that if she gave Dylan that name and not Aubryella she would hate it more than life itself.)
She shakes the girl lightly, hoping that it was enough to wake her up, which it ultimately wasn’t. She begins to run a hand through her hair, which ends up failing too. Jo lets out a sigh.
“Aub. Aubrey. Elle. Ella. Ree. Aubryella. Get up sweetie.” she shakes the girl harder, finally stopping when the tiny blonde lets out a loud groan of protest. Yep, definitely a Karev.
“No mommy,” the girl says, her word muffled since her face was buried in her soft pink pillow case, using one hand to sleepily push her moms face away. It was too close to her ear, and she just wanted to sleep.
Jo chuckles, rolling her eyes at her daughter's antics. “It’s state’s day.” she whispers, knowing that that would get Aub’s attention.
As expected, the little girl gets up immediately, rubbing her tired as, not looking as asleep as she probably should, the talk of the upcoming meet more than enough to get her blood rushing. Though Aubryella wasn't a gymnast herself (she had started dance class a year ago and had found her calling then), watching gymnastics was something she loved to do, especially when it was her own sister competing. Not to mention, it was the topic of nearly every dinner for the past month and a half.
The mom watches as the girl hassles out of the bed quickly, picking up her blanket and rushing to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Jo stays behind, making the bed. Normally, Aub would need to do it herself, but since they were on a time limit, she decided it would be best if she did it instead. When the girl gets back in the room Jo picks out her clothes, a dusty rose sweater and black jeans, both wasting no time in putting them on. She runs a comb through her daughter’s long dirty blonde hair, a trait she inherited from her Aunt Amber and Grandma. Aub actually looked more like the two than her own parents to most people, with her dirty blonde hair and blue-green eyes. But anyone who actually looked at the girl could see that she had Jo's nose and Alex’s chin. Not to mention, that crooked grin was all Alex Karev.
Jo picks up her daughter from her spot on the bed, grabbing a jacket that was hung on a hook before heading out of the door and down the hall, stopping when she went down the stairs and entered the living room. She sets the girl down by a chair in the kitchen, going to the cabinets and pulling out the doughnuts and cereal. “Which one?” she asks, holding up each dessert in a different hand.
The girl grins mischievously, making the mom let out a small chuckle before pulling a powdered sugar doughnut out of the box. She didn’t know why she expected anything else.
Aubryella accepts the doughnut gratefully, giving out an absent minded thank you before shoveling the treat in her mouth, getting the white sugar all over her face. Jo doesn’t need to wait long before she hears two sets of footsteps come down the stairs, Dylan dressed with her white and light blue leotard on, black warm ups on over it, Alex in a simple pair of jeans, back t-shirt, and the damn black jacket that he never got rid of, no matter how many protests he got from his wife.
“Ready?” Jo asks, all three of them nodding in response. “Okay, you got your bag, shoes, extra hair ties, water bottle, lucky bear, extra bobby pins, thera band, notebook, phone, mascara, lip gloss, hair brush, wallet, tiger paws, ankle brace, knee brace, and wrist brace?” she questions again, going over the list she had memorized from years of training.
Dylan rolls her eyes impatiently. She didn’t want to be late. She couldn’t be late. It was States for god’s sake! Everyone in the state of Washington (who qualified) would be there. The judges would be scoring harder, and some of the competition was going to be new. She was going to go up against girl’s she hadn’t before. Her goal was to win everything. Maybe it was extreme, but it was true. This season she had done well, really well actually. Her first season as a level seven had started off in the best way. She swept the first competition clean, getting first on vault, floor, and all around, second on bars, and third on beam. As the season went on she just got better, scores getting higher and snatching more golds with each meet. She knew she wasn’t going to be in the Olympics one day, but getting a college scholarship was looking more promising with every first place medal she had stacked around her neck.
“Yeah, now let’s gooooo,” Dylan drags out, grabbing her dad’s hand and pulling him to the door, not even waiting for her mom and sister to follow. The four Karev’s shuffle into the car and drive an hour and fifteen minutes to the convention center where the meet was being held. They pile out of the car and check in, Alex taking a few minutes to add an extra layer of hairspray to Dylan’s hair while Jo puts a light coat of mascara on the girl’s eyelashes and dabs the lip rosy gloss on her lips.
Before the eight year old can run off her coach, her parents kneel down in front of her, her eyes letting them know how scared she was behind her calm facade. “Hey,” Jo grabs a hold of her little girl’s shoulders, making her hazel eyes that were identical to her own stare deeply into hers. “You got this. Go out there and have fun, alright? You know your routines, you won’t mess up. Okay?” she reassures her. Jo pulls her daughter into a hug, “I love you baby.” she whispers into her ear, passing her off to Alex.
Instead of staying on the ground, he picks her up and puts her on his side, much like you would do a small child. Dylan had always been on the smaller side, since neither one of her parents were very tall, but gymnastics had definitely stunted her growth a fair amount. For most people it would be a curse, but as all gymnasts know, it was a blessing.
“We’re right here if you need us. Go kick some ass Dyl, and win that state title. You want that banner right?” he teases. Dylan did want a banner though. At her gym, whoever won a state, regionals, sectionals, or nationals title got a banner hung up from the ceiling. She had one from last year, when she won floor, vault, and the all around as a level six, and even more from the years before that in levels three, four, and five.
But a banner as a level seven? Now that would be a dream come true. Why break the streak now? And not to mention, her group would be the last level seven group to go for the weekend, so if she got a high enough all around score, it could be factored in for the team’s total, which could mean another banner (this one provided by the competition) and trophy, if their total score was in the top three. And believe me, she was determined to win that banner, not for her, but for her team.
Another thing she inherited from her parent’s, their competitiveness.
Dylan gives her parents and sister one last hug and ‘I love you’ before ducking under the chain and meeting her coach and teammates on the floor.
...
“Camera, camera, camera.” Alex mumbles, fishing through Jo’s bag until he pulls out the phone. Dylan was about to go up on bars, and he was designated photographer, since his wife couldn’t film for the life of her. The one time she tried, she ended up shooting the ceiling instead of Dylan’s floor routine. Their daughter was not very happy about that.
He presses the start button just as the girl salutes, flashing the judges a smile before she begins. She rolls her neck and then adjusts her grips, stepping onto the mounting block and taking a deep breath before swinging her arms and launching into a kip, drowning out all of the excess noise in the background.
“Legs, legs, legs.” Jo mumbles to herself. It was Dylan’s biggest deduction, having her legs separated.
Straight legs, pointed feet. Kip cast handstand, hit the 180 degree mark, hold it, clear hip, hit 180 again, hollow body, her feet don't hit the ground, cast up to a squat on, she catches sight of the high bar before jumping to it, keeping her legs together as she goes into another kip, casting up into handstand, holding it at 180 for a second without an arch before hollowing back and beginning her giants, hollow body, tap, feet up, over, and again, see the toes in front, release, layout flyaway. Stick.
Dylan beams as she salutes the judge again, going over to her coach and giving her a large hug, finally hearing the cheering coming from her family. A series of whoops and whistles come from her mom and dad, while her little sister claps her hands and gives her a wide smile.
She waits a minute and a half for her score to flash up on the screen, a 9.725. The cheering from her section gets louder, and her teammates engulf her in hugs. It was a hell of a way to start off the meet.
Alex pulls out the camera again when Dylan salutes the beam judge, trying to mask her nervousness behind a smile. Alex and Jo both knew how she felt about the beam. She hated it with every fiber of her being, no matter how good she was at it. She glances over at her family, who all give her encouraging smiles. It was just enough to give her the confidence she needed.
He watches as she places her hands on the beam, going from a support to a press handstand for her mount. She stands, doing a few different moves and poses before swinging her arms up by her ears.
“C’mon Dyl.” he whispers to himself. His daughter didn't mind cheering on any other events, but beam was a different story. She was always worried whenever she was on the apparatus, so whenever a sudden noise came through, she struggled. It was something she was working on, but it was going to take time.
She lifts up her left leg, beginning her connection, a back walkover to a back handspring step-out. The girl circles her arms behind her immediately to prevent any balance checks. Jo and Alex both let out audible sighs of relief, knowing that if there was one thing that could go wrong in the routine, it would be that. From the looks of it, Dylan seemed relieved too. Her movements were less tense, she completed her jumps with perfect form, a split jump to a sissone. Her leap hit 180, and her full turn was controlled. All that was left now was her dismount. All three Karev’s sat on the edge of their seats, the baby in Jo’s belly kicking non stop, letting her know that it was in on the action as well.
Dylan kicks her leg into the air, toes pointed, knees locked. Cartwheel step-in, back tuck. Stick. She lets out a breath, turning to the judges and saluting, flashing them a smile, giving her coaches a hug before darting to her family, who had moved closer for the event.
“You did so good.” Jo says, pulling her into a hug over the plastics chains that separated them, Alex doing the same after.
“What score do you think I got Bree?” Dylan asks her little sister, who lets out an adorable giggle before holding out her hands.
“Ten!” she says, making her family laugh. One could dream.
The score flashed up on the screen then, 9.775.
Well, this was going to be a damn good meet.
The camera was locked on Dylan as she made her way to her spot on the floor, striking her beginning pose before her music blared through the speakers. She dances around the floor, gliding with an ease neither of her parents had ever experienced themselves. It was a wonder really, how both of their daughter’s were good dancers while they couldn't move for shit.
Her first pass was her hardest, a roundoff back handspring back layout. The family holds their breath as the girl sets high, finishing the rotation with ease, dancing around more before her leap pass, a switch leap to a straddle jump. She dances more, making eye contact with the judges as she moves. Floor was where she had the most confidence, being able to express herself through her music and choreography, that’s why it was always her favorite.
“C’mon Dyl!”
“You got this Dylan,”
“Yay Tissy!”
The family cheered before her second pass, a front handspring front pike, which she had a small step on, but nothing that would make a large difference in her score. She did some floor work, showing off her flexibility in her back with a series of rolls, standing up and doing a full turn. She makes her way to the corner, Jo and Alex watching the scene intently, Alex having Aubryella perched on his knee. This last pass sealed the deal. She runs, hurdles into a front pike, and connects to a front tuck. Stick.
A smile breaks out on the little girl’s face. She moves her limbs in unison to her ending pose, hitting it just as the beat dropped. A series of cheers come from everyone around her. Her family, teammates, coaches. She doesn’t need to wait long for her score to flash up on the screen. A 9.675.
Dylan’s last event was vault, her personal best. She had already done her warmups, and now she was just waiting for the judge to hold up the green flag. She adjusts her tiger paws after she salutes, just as Alex starts the recording. She sprints down the runway, hurdling into a roundoff, and pushing back into a back handspring. Her vault was a yurchenko drill. She keeps her form, legs together, knees locked, toes pointed. She finishes, salutes, then goes again. The three in the stands cheer. It was the last event. Her all around score depended on these vaults.
When she does her finishing salute a second time, she knows that it was even better than the last. She looks over to her family and gives them a smile, wanting nothing more than to run over to them, but she knows she can’t, they were too far away.
Her score takes a while to come up on the screen, which could either be a bad or good thing. The Karev’s hold their breath in anticipation, Jo stroking her baby bump with one hand, while holding Alex’s with the other. Even Aubryella was on the edge of her seat, well, more like the edge of her dad’s lap. Her hair was no longer down, but in a braided bun similar to her sisters, since she insisted that she wanted to look just like her. Alex was thankful Jo had packed extra hair ties in not just Dylan’s bag, but also her purse.
A series of loud cheers come from this section as they see their daughter’s score. A 9.800, a personal best.
“And now, your vault state champion in the eight to nine year old category with a score of 9.800 is… Dylan Karev!” The announcer cheers as the little brunette makes her way up to the first place podium, an abundance of applause coming from the crowd. A gold medal is placed around her neck by an assistant, who she thanks with a megawatt smile.
“These are your 2029 vault state champions, gymnasts salute.” the announcer says, causing all the girls to raise their arms to the position, all the families in the crowd taking photos of their daughters. Jo, Alex, and Aubryella cheer the loudest, more than proud of Dylan.
As awards went on, more categories were called.
“Your bar's state champion in the eight to nine year old category with a score of 9.725 is... Dylan Karev!”
“Your beam state champion in the eight to nine year old category with a score of 9.775 is… Dylan Karev!”
“On the floor, in second place with a score of 9.675 is… Dylan Karev!”
“And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Your 2029, eight to nine year old all around state champion, with a combined score of 38.975 is… Dylan Karev!” The audience erupted into applause, her parents, her teammates, coaches, and even her teammates parent’s cheering for her. She accepts her fifth medal with a wide smile, hopping down from the podium and back into the crowd. She had just won her ultimate goal, an all around title.
After a few of the older groups were called, it was time for the team awards.
“In first place, with a combined total of 115.575 is… Seattle Gymnastics Academy!” Another first place team award. The team accepts the banner and trophy and poses for photos alongside the second and third place team, proudly showing off their trophy by raising it above their heads.
When she gets down and the awards finish, she runs to her parents, crashing into Alex with a gigantic hug. When she finally lets go, she hugs her mom and sister.
“I’m so proud of you Dyl.” her mom says, touching her cheek affectionately. Gymnastics was her daughter's passion, something she lived and breathed for. Seeing that light in her eyes and that grin was something she would never get tired of.
Aubryella hugs her big sister’s legs, “good job Tissy.” The name came from when the tiny blonde was younger and couldn’t say ‘Sissy’, and had stuck to it ever since.
The family of four makes their way out of the convention center, the drive back to their house was peaceful, the limited hours of sleep they got the night before catching up to them. They all crash onto their respective beds, the girls in their rooms and Jo and Alex in their’s.
Alex runs a hand through his wife’s hair, his other tracing circles on her baby bump, feeling the little life inside of her kick like a crazy person.
They stay like that for a while, savoring the quiet. With two kids in the house, it was a major rarity these days. Jo hums, nuzzling into his embrace. “I love you.” she murmurs into his shirt, on the verge of sleep. He reaches down and places a small kiss on the top of her head.
“I love you too.”

Father’s Day (Jolex Imagine)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age Rating: 12+
Chapters: One of One
Fandom: Grey’s Anatomy
Ship: Alex Karev x Jo Wilson/Jo Karev
Additional Characters: Andrew DeLuca and Amber Karev (Alex Karev’s Sister)
Canon Episode: After Season 20 Episode 10
AN: I will forever be angry at Shonda Rhimes for breaking up such a beautiful and loving couple in such an awful way that destroyed over 10 years of Alex’s character development. But I can correct that mistake even if it’s head canon here on Tumblr. I want to show our appreciation for the dads out there that put our wellbeing above their own and guide us through the roughest times.
Summary: Alex spends Father’s Day with Jo and Luna at home where Jo has a special surprise for him.
Words: 1761
June 16th, 2023
Alex is sitting on the floor of the living room with Luna playing dollies with her while Jo is in the kitchen getting a cake out of the fridge. Jo insisted that they celebrate Father’s Day in style with a small party.
Their guests are Alex’s sister, Amber, and her husband Andrew DeLuca who are also bringing their daughter Lucy. The four of them prefer a small get together themselves so they can catch up without so much noise.
There is a banner on the kitchen doorway that says BEST DAD EVER along with blue balloons in the dining room and HAPPY FATHER’S DAY flags spread on the table.
There is a roast chicken in the oven that is the main course as well as a dish Amber and DeLuca are bringing over. The women figured they could celebrate this special day together and let the father of their children know how much they appreciate and love them.
Jo is reminded of that as she watches Alex sign ‘I love you’ to Luna who smiles. Jo grins at that knowing how much they struggled in the beginning when the ENT diagnosed Luna as having progressive hearing loss.
They cried and threw crap at walls before they reminded themselves that Luna is healthy and alive. They also reminded each other that they had to make an effort to learn a new language so they could teach Luna.
They both committed to learning ASL from books, videos and personal tutorials from Amber who learned sign language in college. They have also been looking into schools for deaf or hard of hearing kids so that Luna can feel included instead of excluded.
Jo chuckles to herself at how horrendous Alex was when he started learning. He would mix words together and they would come out wrong. But he tried so he could communicate with their daughter when most parents would give up. Now he’s better at it with help from Amber.
It makes her even more excited to have another baby with him even when he doesn’t know it. During the wildfire Jo fainted in the NICU and the labs Schmitt ran showed she was pregnant with Alex’s baby.
When they had a pregnancy scare three months ago Jo told Alex that she wanted them to have another child. They agreed to it because Alex wants Luna to have siblings to play with like he did and the idea of having another baby with Jo made him full of joy. Jo suggested they wait until Luna was older before they try again but Jo can see the universe doesn’t always follow with their plans.
Even if it was unexpected Jo is still happy about this and planned a special reveal for the daddy to be tonight.
“Hey, can you guys come here for a second?” Alex yells out sure and heads to the dining room with Luna in his arms. He sees Jo setting two white boxes on the table, one box is large enough for a big cake and one is small enough for a personal cake. He furrows his eyes at the extra pastry.
“What’s with the two cakes? I’m not complaining but you’re the one who said we should eat healthier so we can live long enough to be grandparents.”
Jo grins, “Well this one.” Jo points at the large box, “Is for the adults of this small party and this.” Jo points at the small box, “Is for daddy courtesy of Luna Bear.”
Alex chuckles, “Really? I must be a really good dad to get two cakes.”
“Well Luna wanted to give you something special and I helped. Why don’t you look and see?”
“Shouldn’t we wait for the others to get here?”
“They’re not gonna eat it so there’s no point, come on open it and see.”
Alex chuckles, “Okay normally you’re not this insistent on gifts so I don’t…” Alex stops his sentence when he sees the small round cake inside covered in brown frosting with the words ‘BIG SISTER’ written in green frosting on top of blue frosting with a yellow crown above the text. The words stop Alex in frozen shock before he looks up at Jo with an open mouth still holding their daughter in his arms.
Jo smiles widely at his reaction, “I found out two weeks ago, that’s why I fainted. I wanted to tell you as soon as I found out but with the wildfire and Meredith and Catherine asserting her dominance it didn’t feel like the right time. I wanted to tell you today because it’s a day the good dads are honored. I know I said I wanted to wait a while before we start trying, but life didn’t, and I am happy about this. You are such a good dad already and I am so happy to do this again with you. Please tell me you’re not mad at me.”
Alex chuckles with a grin, “Mad? We’re having another baby how can I be mad about that?” Alex kisses a startled Jo and pulls back with a smile, “You really happy about this?”
Jo smiles, “I really am.” Jo signs to Luna, “Did you hear that Luna Bear? You’re gonna be a big sister! Yay!”
Alex smiles at the thought and hands Luna to Jo so he can sign to her, “Luna being a big sibling is very important. You have to watch out for your little brother or sister and make sure their safe while mommy and daddy are working.” Jo smiles at her husband, “Can you do that?”
Luna simply puts her hand on top of Alex’s causing Jo to aww and look up with an amused smile, “You know you signed sex instead of work, right?”
Alex’s eyes widen at that and groans, “Damn it.”
Jo chuckles, “It’s okay you’re still a newbie and it wasn’t as bad as when you asked your sister to make out instead of make coffee.” Jo laughs at that memory, unlike Alex who looks horrified.
“We agreed to never speak of that again.” Alex reminds Jo in a low voice.
Jo grins and kisses Alex who looks at her lovingly before the doorbell rings. Alex looks at Jo inquisitively and asks a question.
“Should we tell them?”
Jo thinks for a moment, “After the cake?”
“Good idea. Let’s go.” Jo and Alex walk towards the door and open it to let Amber and Andrew in. The DeLuca’s also have their 8-month-old daughter Lucy with them looking cute as ever in a yellow floral dress with her wavy brown hair loose. They go inside to celebrate this special day where the fathers, the ones that put their children’s wellbeing above their own, are celebrated and thanked worldwide. Jo looks at Alex lovingly as he plays with Luna and Lucy in the living room while her in-laws are getting the drinks.
Jo feels so much joy in this moment that she can’t contain her excitement when Amber and Andrew come back ready to eat.
“Alex and I are pregnant.” Jo announces to them with a smile while Alex looks up at Jo amused instead of mad predicting, she would let it slip before the cake.
Amber and Andrew stand there by the couch in frozen shock comprehending for a moment before asking unanimously, “What?”
Jo chuckles, “Yeah pregnant, knocked up, bun in the oven, positive on a pee stick all of those things I am. We wanted to wait until after the cake to tell you but uh…”
Alex finishes knowing his wife too well as he stands next to her affectionately squeezing her shoulder, “But Jo didn’t want to wait because once she told me she couldn’t wait to tell you guys.”
Amber smiles, “You guys are serious? Your pregnant?”
Jo grins, “Yes we are.”
Amber chuckles and hugs Jo who is startled but hugs back, “Oh my god congratulations! You’re making me an auntie again!”
Jo smiles at this while Andrew shakes Alex’s hand congratulating him too with a smile that’s more reserved than Amber’s display of joy right now.
Amber pulls back, “Okay this is your first time physically carrying so as a good sister and a survivor of pregnancy I am gonna prep you for what’s to come.” Amber sees the men next to her, “But just us girls so the father of your children doesn’t run away in horror come on.”
Amber leads Jo to the kitchen who asks a question along the way, “What’s the hardest part when you were pregnant?”
Amber exhales, “There’s the swollen ankles, the swollen belly that feels like a boulder in front of you, the colorful vomit that’s about to come and then there’s the impending clock of when your body rips apart as you bring a new life to this world.”
Jo frowns at that slightly scared, “Wow you are really selling me on the next eight months of my life.”
“It’s gonna be hell.” Amber says bluntly, “But once that child is out you will feel closer to heaven than anyone has ever been.” Jo and Amber sit at the kitchen, “Now let’s talk maternity clothes.” Amber smiles at that causing Jo to chuckle.
The men are at the living room watching the kids and Andrew asks, “Two kids huh? Are you nervous?”
Alex shrugs, “I was raising two kids when I was 13 so I already know what to expect. Plus, it cuts the parenting time in half since they have each other to entertain.”
Andrew looks enthralled by that explanation, “Really?” He looks At Lucy playing with Luna, “Maybe you can share that wisdom with my wife, so she won’t be so freaked out if I decide to pitch that sale.”
Alex raises an eyebrow at his brother-in-law, “What is our established rule when you married my sister?”
“I don’t ask you to invade in my personal life and you don’t ask me.”
“Very good.” Alex looks at Luna with a smile as she plays building blocks with her cousin, “She’s gonna be a great big sister.”
Andrew nods with a smile at their respective daughters, “Yeah, she is. Happy Father’s Day man.”
“Happy Father’s Day.” The dads take a seat on the couch watching their daughters play together both feeling love and pride for their kids. Amber and Jo watch from the kitchen happy and content with the father of their children happy to celebrate a day that honors good dads like them who love their children and protect them above all else.

Emergency Contact (Part 2)
Hey everyone, here's part 2 of the HAPPY FREAKIN' HALLOWEEN JOLEX FIC CHALLENGE, (a day late but better late than never, right?) so here's some Jolex fluff for you. Hope you like it. Enjoy!
Thank you again @angry-slytherin 🧡
-
After a sleepless four hour flight Alex doesn't even think about going to Mer's house first. He has to see her. He has to see her chart, see all the test they did, he has to see that there's still hope. Because even though he hasn't seen her in two years and hasn't been sure if coming here was the right decision, he can't let her die. He still cares so much about her, she's for sure still one of the most important persons in his life; that will probably never change. She made him to what he's today.
The drive to he hospital felt like hours, his thoughts racing through his brain, never letting him come to rest.
Sprinting into the hospital, he immediately makes his way to the ICU, calling Mer while he waits for the elevator to get him to the right level, but she's not answering, even though she promised to stay with Jo as long as he's on his way. So he askes a nurse for Jo's room and finally almost 24 hours after getting the call from Mer, he sees her. Lying in a hospital bed, in one of those awful gowns, connected to all those machines, eyes closed like she's just sleeping peacefully, still looking flawless as ever. She had been stabbed five times and barely survived her surgery, but she still looks so perfect. Alex pushes his suitcase into the corner of the room and pulls the chair closer to the bed. Grabbing her hand, he's immediately relieved that it's still warm.
An hour after he arrived Mer finally shows up to check on Jo and tries to convince Alex to come home with her but he's not going anywhere. Not anymore. He's done running, leaving people he loves. He will stay until she wakes up, no matter how long it will take.
+
Like all the mornings before Alex wakes up on the uncomfortable hospital chair today as well. Covered in this scratchy blanket that he got from one of the nurses, facing the wall, still holding Jo's hand in his. He's not quite awake yet when he feels a thumb stroking over his hand, playing with the wedding ring he never took of.
"Oh my God, Jo." He whispers immediately wide awake, turning towards her. Looking into her eyes for the first time after what felt like an eternity, he can finally breathe again. She's awake. She's alive and breathing. She can hate him, be angry, he would even let her punch him, he doesn't care, she's alive, nothing else matters.
+
After getting her checked out, they sit together and talk for hours. Alex tells her the whole story about his kids turning out not being his kids and he apologizes a million times.
"You know now that I'm awake you can finally go take a shower." Jo teaes him with a laugh.
"Are you saying that I stink?" He fakes a sulky face and crosses his arms over his chest.
"Yes Alex!" Jo laughs.
"Well three days of anxiety sweat do that to you. And you know who's fault that is." He shrunks his shoulders, holding back a smile.
"Oh now it's my fault that you stink like a thirteen year old teenager." Now Jo's the one playing sulky but laughs immediately. "No. But I'm serious, Alex. You should go take a shower, change your clothes, than you can come back. I promise I won't go anywhere." She jokes.
Convinced by her smile he agrees. Squeezeing her hand a last time he stands up and grabs his suitcase. With a last glance at her he leaves.
As he leaves her room, he spottes Mer at the nurse desk so he walks towards her.
"Hey Mer. Could I go take a shower at your place?" He asks, interrupting her tipping on the tablet.
"Sure. My keys are in the attendings lounge. My car keys are there too, you can take it instead of calling a taxi- Are you even listening?" She follows Alex sign, seeing Link walking out of the elevator with a little boy and a girl on his hands, towards Jo's room. They disappear in said room, which makes  Alex walk towards the room too, but he gets hold back my Mer grabbing his arm.
"What do you think you are doing?" She asks him, placing herself in front of him, holding him back from storming into this room.
"This were Jo's children, right? She concealed them from me. I- just I-" He can't even express what he is feeling right now. She did it too. She did the exact same thing as Izzie and kept his kids from him. He can't even believe it. They talked for almost four hours and she didn't even mention kids. He has to talk to Jo immediately. He pushes Mer to the site, about to storm the room again, but Mer holds him back again.
"They are not yours, Alex! Yes they are her kids but they are not yours."
This sentence hits him like a knife in the heart. She has kids with someone else. More important she has someone else. A new man that loves her. Of course he wanted that for her, to be happy again, but that was before he discovered that his kids weren't his.
"You know Jo. You know that she would never do that. She would never keep away your kids from you. Also do the math, you left two years ago and they are three. How should that work, ha? She adopted them." Alex immediately relaxes. "They are twins and she's raising them alone. So no they are not yours and there's also no new man in her life, because you ruined her." Mer complains, pointing her finger at him. "She tried dating but it never worked. So calm down and go to my house. Take a shower, put on some new clothes, than you can come back an talk to Jo. But for now, go!"
+
The hot water is burning on his skin as he stands in the shower in Mer's house. Thinking about everything that happened in the last hour.
She's a mother. Jo has children. Children that aren't his and he knows that he should be happy for her but he's sad. He always thought that he would be the father of her children. Every time he looked into his future he saw Jo. He saw himself and Jo surrounded by their kids and grandkids. Teasing each other and eating donuts until they die in each other's arm. He never saw him leaving her. He never saw a divorce or her with other children than his. It's so selfish of him to think all of this but he can't stop. He can't stop seeing everything that could have been. Everything he ruined the day he left. To be with kids that aren't his. He left the love of his life. He has missed Jo every day, but thought he did the right thing being with his kids, until one day during a rutine checkup of the twins he discovered that they aren't his. That Izzie lied to him, just to get him back. Since that day he has thought about coming back to Seattle every day. But he couldn't.
After his shower and changing into new clothes he makes his way back to the hospital as fast as he could. Even though he is not Jo's husband anymore, he still cares. He cares so much about her and nothing will ever change that. She's his best friend, his soul mate and even a divorce can't break that. He rounds the corner to Jo's room as Link leaves the room. Walking closer he can watch her through the window. Sitting on her hospital bed. Changed into some comfy clothes instead of this ugly hospital gown. Her daughter snuggled into her site while they read a book. Her son kneeling on the chair beside the bed, playing with a blue racecar on the bed beside Jo. She looks like a natural. As if being a mother has always been her destiny. He knows that she for sure is the most wonderful mother to those two. He had always known that, he always knew that one day she would be an awesome mom.
His thoughts get interrupted by Jo spotting him staring through the glas, waving at him to come inside.
"Hey." She greets him as he finally walks into the room.
"Hi." He replies with a smile. Her kids stop what they're doing and stare at him.
"Guys can you say hi to mommy's friend Alex. Can you tell him your names?" She asks her kids with a smile, stroking their little heads.
"Parker." The boy says shyly hiding his face in his mothers armpit. Alex can immediately tell that he's a sweet little boy, with big blue eyes and dark brown curls.
"I'm Emery." The girl answers more confident than her brother. There's a big proud smile on her face after she told Alex her name. Her light brown, long curls shake when she looks up to her mother, who smiles down on her kissing her forehead. She's a little tougher than her brother and probably also a little wilder.
"Hi Emery, hi Parker. I'm your mommy's friend Alex." He greets the twins, giving both a high five as he walks closer. "I like your car, Parker. I had one just like that when I was younger. And your dress is very nice Emery. Blue is my favorite color." Alex tells them with a sympathetic smile.
"Parker come here, let Alex sit in the chair." Jo patts on the bed next to her.
"Oh no I should probably go anyway." He says and is about to leave the room again when he gets interrupt.
"We can share mister Alex." Parker tells him, scooting a little to the side to make room for Alex on the chair.
"That's so nice of you, baby." Jo praises her son, stroking his hair, while he grinns widely, left from all the shyness he showed just a few minutes ago.
"Look now there's space for you. My mommy says I have a little booty so-"
"Parker!" Jo disciplines her son but has to laugh.
Alex has to chuckle too on the comment of the little boy.
"Well, your booty may be little but look at mine. I have a big booty so I don't think we will fit both on the chair. But thank you for the offer, mister Parker."
Alex comment now making the little boy chuckle.
"You are funny, Mister Alex." He giggles. "You could also let me sit on your lap, you know?"
"If you want that."
The little boy nodds with a smile. So Alex picks him up and puts him on his lap, as he sits down on the chair.

George should’ve went into the army and left the show and Izzie should’ve passed away like Shonda intended. Should’ve killed her off screen and used a body double if Heigl was going to refuse to show up.
And then she wouldn’t have been a scape goat and a shitty ending that ruined Alex’s whole character development. They weren’t endgame they were toxic for each other and Alex deserved better. I get the actor wanting to leave, but at least don’t disrespect the character and what growth happened, to do it.

Jo & Alex Karev
It's the way he looks at her that gets me because he sure didn't look at Izzie that way. Not bitter about s16 (yes I am)
