so y'all have probably heard that david costabile is going to be a playing a character named leonard, and the article i read about it in described him as "a seasoned TV personality who has a run-in with Molloy."
and i'm pretty sure he was made up for the show. but he could be based off some combination of different book characters (kinda like how they took a lot of mayfair cousins and just condensed them into jojo for the mayfair witches show)
so i'm wondering do we have any theories on who this leonard character is, or who be may be based on?
oh, this is what he looks like for those people like me who have never seen him in anything
#iwtv s2 speculation#should i tag this as a spoiler#idk if it's enough to count as a spoiler#imma tag it just to be safe#iwtv s2 spoilers

Mayfair Witches episode 8 thoughts
- One thing I like is the music
- So do I get that right she called Lasher for revenge not to try to save Tessa… okay…
- I like the practical effects but the digital ones really need improvement
- Someone needs to change Lasher’s suit cut. Seriously.
- Finally some lore?!
- the trans woman Jojo is one of the saving graces…
- This is the answer?!!!! WHAT IS. Come on just a BIT of explanation for the audience. I know lore is a lot of work but… 😫
- So fantasy ghost sex… does that still count as betrayal or is it ok bc it’s in her head^^ (Also: magnetic sex scene?!!!! WHERE. Sorry, but… 🙄)
- Men in black feeling ^^
- I liked the clocks/watches thing, but again, as for Rowan, too - SOME explanation, some lore. Lasher reciting the prophecy is thin at best. (And I know it’s almost literal but Anne‘s world is so lush?! Imbue it?!!)
- Heyyyyy Suzanne!! (I really like her!)
- Awwww. Cute baby! Well. 😅
- The petrification needs better tricks (but it was a nice moment)
- On the risk of TMi: there should be a trail of blood from here, placenta etc. Sorry but…
- More of the lightning please
So…. in summary:
First season: unfortunately pretty slow and at times uninspired, the writing and dialogue felt clunky. Lasher never felt really threatening, unfortunately. The pregnancy should have gotten better build up, the thing with Delphine still annoys me. There should have been more lore explanations. Just a bit. And foreshadowing of The Witching Hour would have been nice?! Etching glowing runes into the wall is just… not enough. The digital tricks are… 😬
That recent interview with Mark Johnson suggests that they know they need to work on it so… I guess there’s hope. There is potential, but they really need to up their game….
I‘m all for Rowan gaining an edge btw - I don’t need any more of the frightened stare.
I‘ll likely give season 2 a go, simply to see whether they will manage to lift this to where it should/could be. It would be such a shame to waste?!
Ok, and finally.... some missed opportunities in Mayfair Witches to connect to IWTV (imho)
Louis‘ tombstone in passing (several times)
Warning Rowan not to go by Rue Royale at night
Lasher making an offhand comment re other supernatural creatures
Merrick as that healer
Aaron or David somewhere, even if only per text or something
Uncle Julien and Lestat comment from someone - Lestat and Julien could have theoretically met in this timeline - that is simply too good to pass up???!!!
Grace‘s twins - twins in this universe, just up the street from the Mayfair Witches' house... like...
Voodoo circle reference - any of the other heirs maybe did that for a hobby?! Just a comment?!!
Later on they should make that chapel Lestat’s chapel. That would be neat?!

Because I can’t help myself, here’s how i would have structured a 13 ep season of the Mayfair Witches
Episode 1: (After the cold open with Deirdre) Establishing Rowan’s skill as a Doctor/Suzanne’s skill as a midwife, Rowan’s comfort with sex/Suzanne exchanging sex for protection, Ellie’s cancer resurgence/Suzanne’s mother getting attacked and/or sick where we get the ‘death is your job too’ speech, Rowan attempting to get Ellie into the trial/Suzanne participating in the May Day festival to prevent a witch hunt, Rowan mourning her mother alone/Suzanne wailing with her fellow clanswomen over her mother’s death and her own pregnancy
Episode 2: Cold open of Deirdre waking up, seeing Carlotta and putting herself through a window to try and kill her. Suzanne taking Deborah to the field to summon Lasher/Rowan trying to find out about her origins and getting the first inklings of Lasher’s presence, Suzanne burning and Petyr ‘saving’ Deborah/Rowan finding out about Deirdre’s death and spiraling during which Ciprien shows up to offer protection and guidance, Deborah going out of control and running away from the talamasca/Rowan accidentally harming Ciprien and running away to New Orleans
Episode 3: Cold open of Deborah in prison, handing the emerald over to Petyr to deliver to their daughter Charlotte as a pretense to get him there. Rowan disoriented in New Orleans and contacted by Ciprien/Charlotte trying to settle into Saint Domingue when Petyr comes to deliver the emerald and make sure she’s okay, Rowan meeting Carlotta and getting an invite to the funeral then meeting with Ciprien where they connect hands and as a result fall into intimacy/Petyr and Suzanne connecting over Deborah’s death and drinking heavily until he wakes up with her on top of him disgusted, Ciprien deciding to stay and help/Petyr abandoning Suzanne
Episode 4: Cold open of Charlotte’s death and the emerald passing to Jean-Louise, being named heir to everything even though she’s not the first born son. Mona, Carlotta, Rowan and Cortland all preparing for the funeral and then meeting at the church where we see all of their reactions to Deirdre’s death/Jean-Louise explaining death and the legacy to her daughter Angelique, Wake at the house where Mona keeps trying to get Rowan’s attention but keeps getting swerved by Cortland, Carlotta (and Jojo, I like her so we can keep that scene in the dining room) who have their own agendas. She tries to get Rowan to come with her but Rowan opts to stay to talk to Carlotta instead. Jean-Louise spreading her power and influence over Haiti to build up wealth for her family/Carlotta explaining the legacy in its current form and putting the emerald on Rowan’s neck before she passes out because Carlotta drugged her drink (trying to keep Lasher dormant again).
Episode 5: Cold open of Carlotta visiting Mona to give her clothes for the new school year and disclosing that she has Rowan ‘well in hand’ which Mona freaks out about and Carlotta locks her in the attic. Ciprien returns and finds out Rowan is being held, recruits Delphine to help rouse her before Carlotta returns. They go to the law office to look over the legacy paperwork. Angelique struggles to run the family estate on her own/Rowan makes plans on how to utilize the new resources, Angelique convinces Vincent St. Christophe to marry her to run the estate and carry on the family line/Rowan convinces Ciprien she needs an ally against Carlotta and they decide to get married
Episode 6: Rowan making allies in the family and making plans for the wedding/Marie Claudette being warned by her slaves about the coming revolution, where she aids them with resources and they help her and her family escape
Episode 7: Marguerite’s wedding to Tyrone McNamara/Rowan’s wedding to Ciprien. The morning after he’s taken by the Talamasca, reprimanded for his decisions and forced to defend himself and then given the files on the Mayfairs to arm himself, unfortunately leaving Rowan alone with Lasher. Marguerite’s experiments and interactions with Julien/Rowan experimenting with her own abilities while on what’s meant to be her honeymoon
Episode 8: Katherine partying with her brothers and content to leave management to Julien until she meets Darcy Monahan. Ciprien returns but only to inform Rowan of what’s going on and spending a little time with her before returning to the files, promising he’ll turn them over when he can. Rowan overseeing remodeling the house/Katherine building the house, both efforts face complications but both arcs end with a massive housewarming party. Mona once again tries to talk to her but gets stopped.
Episode 9: Rowan coming into control of her own powers and ostensible control of Lasher/Mary Beth using her own powerful abilities to control the spirit and build the family up.
Episode 10: A focus on Stella, how she lived blissfully with Evelyn until she returned home, and then attempting to leave with Stuart Townsend before being murdered, episode ends with Ciprien finally getting the second floor attic open after several attempts have failed, finding the jars and seeing what happened through Stuart’s eyes.
Episode 11: Ciprien is in the hospital from the heart attack he suffered, Rowan leads the cleanup of the attic and grapples with isolation and another potential loss. We parallel with Antha, growing up under carlotta’s thumb after witnessing the murder of her mother until she eventually commits suicide. At one point we see Rowan standing on that same balcony and only stops herself from climbing over because she gets nauseous, shortly after discovering she’s pregnant.
Episode 12: Deirdre’s life and grappling with an unplanned pregnancy/Rowan attempting to figure out how to tell Ciprien. Lasher is trying to get her to focus on building her abilities as “the time is coming to use them”. By the end of the episode Ciprien returns home from the hospital and promises to fill her in on what he learned, but gets sidetracked when she tells him she’s pregnant.
Episode 13: Rowan hosts a christmas party to announce the news to the family. We see when this announcement is made that Mona reacts poorly only to be stopped from saying something by Carlotta, who smacks a hand over her mouth out of sight of everyone else. After the party, Rowan and Ciprien talk about all that he learned from the files and share theories on what Lasher’s true motivations might be. When Ciprien gets close to the truth, Lasher affects his heart again and he falls in the pool while Rowan begins to miscarry. Lasher is reborn and we end the finale with Mona breaking out of the attic and getting to the house too late, Carlotta lifting the emerald out of a pool of blood and placing it around her neck.
Obviously this restructures the plot a bit but keeps the important points and elements, and the ancestors with less going on leaves more room for much needed time with the characters. I even kept in Ciprien and Jojo, because they’re okay, but I seriously cannot forgive them for replacing Mona with a washed out OC.

I’m so bummed about how absolutely horrible The Mayfair Witches adaptation was done. And by the same network that completely knocked Interview With The Vampire right out of the park. Both of them underwent massive changes, that’s to be expected with any adaptation… but only one nailed it.
Interview changed up some pretty big details in the story Anne Rice told, but it did so to better suit the audience and times without losing any of the magic in the books. The century time jump didn’t change the dynamics between the characters, Louis family didn’t ruin his inner turmoil, it added a layer to it. His changed position in society from plantation owner to business man and heir didn’t change his struggles with mortality and humanity, it added a layer that was so well done. The changes ultimately served the characters and therefore the story.
The Mayfair Witches did none of that. They changed everything but it added nothing to the story. Instead they stripped away all the characters feelings and motivations and depth and left us with something flat and boring. It wasn’t even the big things like trading in Micheal for Cip (who’s very pretty and totally wasted on this flat show.) But stripping Rowan of her drive, her resolve and all her backbone was a choice. Making Cortland a caricature was a choice. Not developing a relationship at all between Rowan and Cip was a choice. Infact the only choice that was correct was Jojo, both the character and the actress were a joy in such a bleak damn adaptation.
I can’t wait for season 2 of Interview, and kinda hope something shakes loose and they get a clue and cancel the witches.

Spoilers for Episode 8 of Mayfair Witches if you haven’t watched.
Is she lactating? Yes. Good I’m sure she’d want to help her brother. Call transport she’s coming with us. The fuck. The boss really needs to be taken out.
I know what he knows. I know what you did to my mother. Rowan sweetie then you should also know Lasher didn’t stop it either. Neither that nor you being taken nor Deirdre being killed. It should inform you of how he feels about who he’s connected to. Worth something only until they get him as far as they can. How he’ll treat her is staring her straight in the face on top of how he’s already treated her.
When it was revealed Cortland was the one dragging her body I was like wow quite a feat for someone with ALS.
Keith should have minded his business and done his job.
I wonder who’s going to lead the family now Jojo or Dolly Jean.
Out of all the episodes this one was my least favorite.
Might add more.
Making the baby/child completely white despite having one non white parent is exactly what they did to Ryn’s baby in Siren.
I think Dolly Jean knew what Cortland did to Deirdre she’s just trying to cover her ass now that he’s outed.
It upsets me that everyone is just so okay with forcing this woman to have a baby she made it very clear she didn’t want. Most especially the designees that came before her. How dare they make a deal then continue to uphold it on her behalf.
My hope is for season 2 is that Lasher and Rowan talk some shit out.

Mayfair Witches season 1 review
Everyone seems to be doing reviews, so I thought let’s also write out my thoughts now that I have seen all episodes.
What I liked most: the dark aesthetics/visuals and music/soundtrack. The show was simply beautiful.
Regarding the story: I liked episode 2, 5 and 8 best, where they most tapped into the gothic horror. This includes Deirdre’s story and the beginning of episode 6 when Lasher fucked with Rowan’s mind.
But I thought over-all there is not enough gothic horror. It felt too much toned down and sanitized. While this is literally a story about a family of murder, incest and madness that is manipulated by spirit Lasher who has sex with every generation and manipulates the blood-line so he could create the perfect witch, with whom he has sex so he can be reborn into her womb. I mean... more gothic horror it can’t get, right?
So... I want more dark and creepy stories, family history, the house, incest and madness. And less of the men’s right movement and Tessa. That felt completely uneccesary and didn’t click with me.
The sex scenes could also have been shot a bit more appealing lmao.
The new characters Cip and Jojo were a very smart choice. I didn’t miss Michael and Aaron at all, I thought they were kind of boring anyway. Cip is a really likeable character. And Jojo was so cool as well! Really nice that they gave us a transgender witch. I wish we had seen more of her and her complicated relationship with her father.
Speaking about which... I have been calling Cortland the creepy incest uncle since episode 1 so I am glad he finally got unmasked lmao.
The casting was fine imho. I liked Lasher. He was creepy and manipulative, but not so much that it was off-putting. The actor played it really well. I am also fine with Rowan.
The Talamasca was different than I imagined, but I still liked it. They were more ominous and corrupt than I expected, but this can be a good thing.
Over-all, I enjoyed the season, though I don’t agree with all the choices they made. I’m definitely going to watch season 2. It got me also curious to read the books further (I have only read book 1 and the cross-over books with VC), so that is good.
#mayfair witches#spoilers#and now... we have to wait till 2024 to get another season of both MFW and IWTV??

Mayfair Finale!
This show was made on a shoestring budget, but they had money for drones!
dew it (insert Palpatine gif)
Did Rowan heal the bullet inside of her, or did I miss it popping out?
yay functional incest!
damn that green dress was Jojo's, I want to see her in it now
I don't mind the shorthand of a prophesy to explain wtf Rowan's role is in all of this
poor Cip is like what is that white baby
dammn they actually pulled this off. I almost completely enjoyed this episode. I just wish the whole season had been this level of insanity (in the best way)
#overall better than iwtv when taken in as a whole season#not that either are good adaptations#but this weirdly feels more faithful than iwtv even tho it didnt start off that way#i mean it isnt great tv#it's still mediocre#but this ep is hopefully a sign of the show's quality moving forward#this is not very well thought out so no tags#well no real tags

Well, that’s that
It took eight episodes, but they finally revealed what part Odette (Ciprien’s sister) plays in all of this. I’m so glad I stuck with it this whole season. 🙄
No point in beating the dead equine anymore. …but I will poke it with a stick. Mayfair Witches is 100% fan fiction inspired by the characters of Anne Rice’s The Witching Hour. Whatever. We’ll just stick it on the refrigerator next to the handprint thanksgiving turkey the toddler made in preschool. “Look what our little Renoir did! …out of dry pasta and finger paint, no less! SO proud!”
Albrecht? Shady, hypocritical, and oh so convenient. (Does that count as a retcon?)
At the end of the season, I can only care about two characters: Jojo (Josephine, Cortland’s daughter) and Mawbel (the Talamasca librarian). …and have no idea how AMC is going to recover enough for MW to crossover into IWTV.

Disco Lights And A Glint In The Eye Of Dancing Girls At The Candybox Night
London
Monday @ Thrash
Trash was ahead of the curve as it kept people on the dancefloor with a beat as it filled the gap between “bands” and electro DJs. The club night, headed by Erol Alkan who was bored with Brit Pop launched 1997 for all the weirdos who needed somewhere to let their hair down, whether that was a bowl cut, a fringe or a wig, it was cutting edge in every way. For 10 years Trash was found in Soho every Monday, initially at Plastic People before bowing out at The End and it influenced music, art, fashion and culture more than others.
Bands like Gossip, Bloc Party and Klaxons performed before Erol and DJ’s played a mix of electro and pop along with indie remixes. It was the first place to play House Of Jealous by The Rapture, they became the tastemakers, labels would deliver the first pressings of songs to them before anyone else. The Strokes visited on their first London trip, it was London’s Studio 54 and like London’s new romantic HQ, Blitz Club, Trash had its regulars who’d go all out and dress up, known as the Trash Kids who controlled the door policy, no suits or casual wear allowed, make the effort or go elsewhere.
Attendees were varied, from A-lister celebs and NME cover stars to genre-head-fuck Peaches and legends such as Lemmy and Grace Jones. The dawn of electroclash in 2000 changed what Trash was about, after championing a mix of guitars, pop and dance in its first 3 years, the arrival of Fisherspooner and Chicks On Speed made sense to what the club had been banging on about. The night's mix of bands and beats inspired Klaxons to do the same.
Tuesday @ White Heat
One of the most important (and the longest running (it is still going!)) indie disco is White Heat which started in 2003 in Mayfair, offering a distraction from dance music littering London late nights at the time. The club has adapted with underground culture and its move to Madame Jojo’s in April 2005 saw it become the heart of Soho every Tuesday.
Everyone from Lorde to Klaxons, Adele, Florence & The Machine, the XX and Jamie T, played White Heat before they went huge. Founder Matty was always ahead of the game for live music, he was more than just the promoter, when he discovered new talent that he believed in, he’d support them in every way possible, such as creating the White Heat record label for them. There’s no profit in selling 7”’s and the club night was no money-making machine, beers cost £2.50, which was always helpful when you’re living on your student loan!
One legendary moment at White Heat was when The Pun Lovin’ Criminals played, a covers band featuring Fred MacPherson (Spector, Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man, Les Incompetents), Dev Hynes (Blood Orange, Lightspeed Champion, Test Icicles) and more played a covers set of indie classics, Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) joined in for Reptilia by The Strokes.
White Heat had to leave Madame JoJo’s after the venue had its license revoked following an altercation nearby. This coincided around the same time that other central London venues were being shut down, either for Cross Rail or gentrification. It is hard to get a drink in Soho past midnight these days, in the 2000’s there were late bars and club nights for everybody which opened until the early hours every night of the week. That culture has been pushed out to East London, away from the tourists and the people with money. It seems crazy that you could pay £5 to get into a club night, watch a band that will be huge in a couple of months' time then another fiver gets you a couple of beers in. What a time.
Thursday @ Candybox or Smash ‘n’ Grab
Thursday’s belonged to Candybox at Moonlighting but there isn’t anyone who can compete with Mairead Nash and Tabitha Denholm, better known as the Queens of Noize when it comes to “living it”. The pair have been promoters, DJs, presenters, they have had their own label and managed artists, the duo have been key players in the scene since 2002. They found the best new bands and put them on at 333 in Shoreditch and the Barfly in Camden but it was their arrival at Punk in Soho on Thursday’s in 2007 with Smash & Grab that got everyone talking. It quickly attracted A-listed like Kate Moss and Daisy Lowe on the dancefloor, Mark Ronson on the decks and bands would play without an announcement. People would queue for hours to get in and raid the dress up box while paparazzi would be waiting outside to snap the famous faces stumble out. After establishing itself at Punk the night had at residencies at various nightlife haunts across the capital.
Friday @ Club NME
Friday nights in London belonged to Club NME at Koko in Camden, a venue too beautiful for teens on the piss but in 2005 it became the destination for 12 years. The main room had DJs playing the generic indie hits (Mr Brightside, Predict A Riot, etc…) then upstairs was the Frog room with DJs playing something a little cooler. As it had the NME link, each week a band would play, the next week they would be in the charts.
We’ll come on to Saturday’s @ Frog later…
Other influential nights include:
Young & Lost Club
While Queens of Noize were starting up their night in Shoreditch, two teenagers Nadia Dahlawi and Sara Jade launched their own fanzine, Pyrrha Girls. The pair met at boarding school and bonded over The Strokes which led to them starting the fanzine and one of the first print outlets to cover Razorlight and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
This gave them the foundations to start something “real”, the Young & Lost Club nights where they would book emerging talent including the likes of The XX, Klaxons, Friendly Fires, Jamie T and Laura Marling before they went big then in 2005 they launched the Young & Lost Club record label.
In ten years it would release music from many unknown bands who would go on to do huge things including Bombay Bicycle Club, Bastille and Noah & The Whale as well as scene favourites Larrikin Love, Vincent Vincent & The Villans, Johnny Flynn and The Virgins. It started with a 7”, Vincent Vincent & The Villans single, Blue Boy and each release would be sold out before they came out. After building up a relationship with Noah & the Whale, Young & Lost Club took a bigger step as they released their debut album, Peaceful The World Lays Me Down in August 2008 which spent 6 weeks in the top 10.
Dollyrockers
Laura Marsh, frontwoman Screaming Ballerinas launched her own night Dolly Rockers. “Me and my best mate Eloise wanted to create a night that had our favourite new bands in a more fun setting than other nights that were going on at the time. We had ‘confetti girls’ throwing ripped up glitter and newspaper in the air and people dressed insanely. It was the fucking best. It was a way of us having as much fun as possible in our own world.”

So I started watching Mayfair witches on AMC. IMHO, it’s not very good. So I looked up the plot and uh. The main issue as I see it is, if anyone is going to make this show they need to be ok just delving into the disturbing. Also I’d say the only channel that could really adapt it would be HBO, it any other wants to they need to embrace the darkness, this is not angsty Charmed. This is gothic supernatural horror -even more than Vampire- with what could be a good side of camp depending on a lot of factors.
I’m baffled by what they changed as well. Or really any number of adaption choices and I just read a Wikipedia summary. Like I get that changes have to be made in an adaption, if it makes for a good show that’s fine imho. This doesn’t. The books sound good, admittedly maybe too fucked up for my personal taste but the show is a wet noodle with some sprinkles on desiccated chicken.
I have more thoughts below on some things I kinda liked and some more I didn’t and what I woulda changed (to add to the pile I’m sure)—
Likes: Ciprien, in theory was a neat character -I know he’s a mesh of different characters that people woulda liked to see so that understandably will vary but he was alright. I liked the slightly more diversity of having the family having non-white members. I liked Jojo. Also I surprisingly enjoyed the Talamasca stuff.
My main change in terms of all that would have been to make Ciprien a very new agent.
Didn’t like: Deirdre and Rowan’s book relationship is far more interesting than the strange adoptee thing. It’s a common trope sure but at least it’s good, and fits the whole genre. Estranged mother dies and daughter has to go confront the past. Weird gothic horror magic shit ensues, don’t make it more complicated going in! There will be enough complication later give it a good stable easy to understand base.
We didn’t need the modern witch hunters. Maybe just a singular killer might have been used in a cool way but what we got was dismal even for a pretty overdone trope.
I know not everyone in New Orleans has an accent but I don’t think anyone did! Or at least too few imho. Fix that. Aside I liked that Sip spoke a little french creole, more of that.
Overall I think they should have made a gothic horror show first and witch show second. If they wanted a introduction to the world character imho there were theee choices. A) Use Micheal as in the book -idk if getting rid of Sip or maybe changing his role so he could be in a spin off Talamasca show would be better there’s many options there; b) Sip is a very new and inexperienced agent who isn’t getting a lot of support, this would sacrifice little with the dynamic withthe eh Tal, maybe his one friend is the only helpful one and she has limited power int he org; c) Rowan still and I like this one a lot and I’ll get into it, this would keep her solidly as the focus of the show for us to connect with.
The main change is don’t make Deirdre comatose, make her a real dynamic character for a few episodes. Maybe with a complex relationship of both loving Lasher and trying to contain him and keep him away from Rowan. If Rowan is introducing us to the world have Deirdre kept her away from the witch stuff and sent her away as a child/teen which could keep some elements of the adoption storyline if that’s what they really wanted.
Overall just new writers and directors and some recasts possibly for an overall better execution of everything. Bc more than any changes or other deviations and new plots and characters the issue is execution. Look how intrinsically IWTV was changed and is still a good show -arguably not a very accurate adaption but it feels closer to the story than this and is executed quite well.

Rowan Fielding - Mayfair Witches
[25-40, human/witch/undead, neurosurgeon, cis woman?, she/her?, lesbian?, fc: Alexandra Daddario (may change)]
Rowan was born in New Orleans in the 1990s to Deirdre Mayfair, a powerful witch who had been sheltered and abused her entire life, after Deirdre's uncle raped her. Carlotta, Deirdre's aunt, had Rowan taken away at birth and given to a family member to raise after telling Deirdre that the baby had died in some hopes of Rowan never growing into her powers or falling into the grasp the demon who had his claws digging into the entire family but especially Deirdre. Rowan grew up in San Francisco with her adoptive mother under the assumption that she was a normal human despite an incidence in her childhood that told her otherwise.
She eventually became a neurosurgeon who was incredibly confident in her skills as a surgeon despite her boss who seemed to think far less of her. After several instances of killing or nearly killing people in her accidentally with just the power of her mind, Rowan is convinced she has magical powers despite her mother insisting that she doesn't and refusing to let her speak on the matter.
Shortly after, her mother dies at home from cancer and Rowan is left to deal with the aftermath and the trauma. She eventually begins looking into her birth in some attempt to find out more despite her mother's insistence that it was a closed adoption and there was nothing they could do. She quickly finds out that the adoption agency didn't even exist when she was born and has far more questions when she finds herself thrown into a world of witches, demons, and immense amounts of family drama.
Finding companionship in her cousin, Jojo, Rowan finds it easier to process and weave herself into the mess that is her new life. It's certainly not easy by any means, but having someone by her side to explain everything and simply build a friendship with makes everything easier to take in. It certainly isn't helped though when she finds herself falling for the demon, Lasher's, charms and manipulation while equally feeling terrified of he's capable of and, by extension, what she is capable of. Terrified she'll kill again, she tries to get rid of the demon but the ritual is useless and she still finds him attached to her.
Everything comes to a head when Rowan's cousin, Tessa, is kidnapped by witch hunters. While trying to rescue her cousin, Rowan was shot in the head and she was unable to save Tessa from being burned at the stake. When the rest of the family got there, they found both bodies or at least Rowan's as Tessa's was just ashes. Given that Tessa didn't have a viable body, Jojo and the rest of the family were unable to bring her back to life, but they were able to bring back Rowan. Cold, half alive, and minutes back from death, Rowan made it her mission to hunt down the people who killed Tessa. Killing each and every one of them, she cuts off their heads and brought them back to the family like a cat would bring a dead mouse to its owner. Sickened by Rowan's actions, Jojo feels guilt eating at her as she believes bringing her cousin back from the dead had broken something within her.
Having been impregnated by Lasher, Rowan's body is no longer able to carry a child and the half human child activates a fail safe and quickly grows to maturity, quite literally ripping her way out of Rowan's body leaving a blood bath in her wake. With everybody wanting the child for their own purposes, she nearly keeps it for herself as she doesn't see a better option, but the thought of raising it and having to pretend to love it sickens her. Not wanting to traumatize the child with a mother who hates it, but not wanting it to be used for who knows what terrible things and also not wanting to kill it, she entrusts the baby to Jojo as she's come to trust that she wouldn't use or abuse a child for her own gain.
They do however realize that they can use a small amount of the little girl's blood to banish Lasher and prevent him from ever coming into contact with the Mayfair family ever again. In a frantic, dangerous last battle, the family finally comes together to put a stop to the man, bringing them closer than ever.
#m: rowan f.#// fairly canon divergent towards the ends and also the sequence of events of death revival and birth haven't fully been decided on#// it probably will change between each thread until I decide what works best#// I also have a separate 'verse' where Rowan died via childbirth and that's when she gets brought back to life#// probably no Tessa getting kidnapped in that verse or everything's chiller and no one dies#// Eva's(Jojo and Rowan's daughter) probably gonna have her whole plot line tbh where she gets to be a powerful dangerous witch demon hybri#// And she's not bad! She just has blood lust on her bio mother's side and evil demon dna on her bio father's side lol#incest tw#rape tw#gore tw#abuse tw
