Johnica Week 2025

Hi everyone and welcome to the 6th Johnica Week! This year, 2025, is a special one because we're here to appreciate John and Veronica on their 50th wedding anniversary!

As for now, 2025 might be the last Johnica Week I will organise (unless there's still demand, I might organise a celebration day on their anniversary but not a whole multi-days event) but don't worry, I will keep running this blog to share Johnica fics and fanarts, and the masterlist will always stay open if you want your creations to be added!

This year the event starts on Thursday 16th January and ends on Sunday 19th January, with Saturday 18th being the 50th Wedding Anniversary!

The Theme 👑

The 50th wedding anniversary is obviously a huge milestone, usually called “golden anniversary”, and GOLD is the main theme of this celebration! 

Gold is malleable and flexible, like the compromises made between a long-term married pair in order to make it to this milestone year.

Then, it is resilient, impervious to heat and acid, and acts as a reflection of the eternal endurance of a long-term union.

Last but not least, its rarity and luxurious nature is an ideal reflection of the precious nature of a long-term marriage.

Gold is not just a symbol of money or luxury, but represents a strong and deep relationship, showing how much the two value each other beyond just material things. Keeping this in mind, this might help you as an underlying prompt or starting point for the theme of your creation for this event! 

Some of the daily prompts are based on Gold: memories, special objects, themes, songs, plus a classic romantic fic trope each day. As always, you don't have to follow the prompts, feel free to let your imagination fly!

My entry into Johnica Week 2024, “You’re My Only One”, is here! I originally wanted to publish this on January 18 for the anniversary, but alas, I couldn’t get it done in time. 😕 So I decided to publish it on Veronica’s birthday instead! 🥰☺️

This is a oneshot fic based on the prompts “Purple”, “Surprise Gifts!”, “Handmade By the Other”, and "Oh my, this must have been expensive!"/“Nothing is expensive enough for you, my love."

18th January 1976: Veronica and John are celebrating their first wedding anniversary at home with their six-month-old son Robert, where Veronica has a big gift prepared for John, but John has an even bigger gift in store for her.

For Johnica Week 2023 Day 1, I drew a little 4-panel comic!

Since the theme for today was Johnica inside a fantasy book, I thought it would be funny if they somehow got transported into Alice in Wonderland and John immediately became friends with the hookah-smoking caterpillar. I feel like they’d get along! 😂

Sorry that it’s pretty messy, it was rushed due to the fact that I didn’t start until today (oops). I hope you like it nonetheless and happy Johnica week! :)

Au Fic - Queen as Camp Counselors At Ridge Farm Summer Camp, mostly a music camp but it has other camp activities and facilities <3

Maylor Summer Romance Fic, MULTI CHAPTER FIC PLANNED OUT!!! since summer isss up and coming, least for me anyway. Maylor is endgame despite the slow ass burn.

Also Jimercury is gonna be a massive ship in this as well, I would have done Deacury but can’t miss the opportunity, now there is SLIGHT deacury at times but Jimecury is the endgame as is Johnica (thought to give everyone the deets of the romances of this story before anything darlings! But the big ship is Maylor duhhh so most of any other ships are minor mentions <3!!

Now before I get an Excerpt out ! Little A/N (I know it’s bloody hated but)

My close friend (who really got me into Maylor in the first place) and I have been writing this for a while, and we are still in production of the first chapter which is around 9k words (beta reading,revising, redoing)

We plan to have the first actual chapter out by February 17,2024

It was HER idea to do this ‘teaser’ and I made the aesthetical ‘poster’ for our story.

(She regrettably will never get tumblr even if I BEG her to so o have to be stuck with this ugh /hj I love this)

-Campside Rendezvous Excerpt-

Brian’s hands faltered on the strings of his red guitar, flicking his eyes up at Jim and the blonde next to him, narrowing his eyes with a little smile on his lips, putting his hand out anyway for the blondie, “Didn’t think this was your type of show Roger.”

“Do you two know-“ Jim paused looking between them unsure of how Mr Beach hadn’t mentioned this, maybe Mr. Beach didn’t know either? He would have to ask after he got a few of their female counselors around the camp to their respectable cabins.

“Brimi” Roger sneered and took Brian’s hand in a slight death grip, how annoyingly formal Brian was; it had been a few months since he even saw the tall poodle, ignoring Jim for a second before turning to the Irishman, “we had a college band, till our lead left us gutted.” He added with a slight grimace as he was still pissy about that event no matter how long it had been since then.

“Oh! So … you two being in the same cabin won’t be a problem?” Jim asked, still unsure of their dynamic not with the way Roger still had that grin on his face which was easily reflected in the blond’s blue eyes.

“Not at all.” Brian replied giving a gentle smile hoping to relieve Jim from that worry creeping in his face, ‘ouff’ Brian groaned when Roger basically slung himself against his side nearly causing the guitar to come off his lap. “I didn’t miss this one bit.” Brian mumbled noticing that shit eating grin on Roger’s face, a whole six weeks of this- he reminded himself.

“Yeah you did mate.” Roger replied and kept his eyes on Jim, “ don’t worry. I’ll keep him in check!” He said almost as if he was the responsible, innocent one and gave a sickly-sweet smile seeing that eye roll from his taller friend; seems like this summer got a little more enthusiasm out of Roger with a familiar face around to annoy.

May 1989, Queen record "An hour of Queen" with Mike Read, to talk about their newest album "The Miracle" and give fans some news about it and about themselves. One question tickles John's interest, and he decides to do a small, romantic gesture.

For Johnica Week 2024, prompt Radio interview, and kinda “When you love something, you protect it with your entire life. Right now, my guts tell me to do the same.”

Ahhh it's been SO LONG since I wanted to write about John saying Veronica is his favourite song at the moment during that interview! Of course this is all fictional, but I always found it very sweet that, in the big indecision about giving one favourite song, he chose the one with his wife's name. He could've said any other song, literally, but he didn't.

I hope you'll enjoy my silly imagine of how the answer came to be!

In which Brian is Hades and Anita Persephone.

This is inspired by the webtoon “Lore Olympus”. I just adore the author’s style!

I imagined older Brian, because part of the plotline is Hades feeling he’s far too old for Persephone. Plus, I could dress him into his fabulous Disney princess coat from the Jubilee performance. Also, Anita as a goddess of spring bringing some light and joy to the lonely god of underworld felt just so fitting!

Oil pastel on coloured paper. Those pastels are almost 20 years old! Never properly learned to use them and they’ve been just sitting in the drawer. (That coloured paper is most likely even older, perhaps from the late 80s. I’m like Brian, I never throw anything away)

I’m thinking of reimagining other Queen members as “Lore Olympus” characters, but I haven’t yet figured out who would be who. If you have any suggestions, hit me up!

My entry into Johnica Week 2023, “Those Crazy Notions”, is here! This is a oneshot fic based on the prompt “Selecting a Book for the Children”.

November 1985: John and Veronica are enjoying a romantic evening at home despite their recent marital strife. Their intimate time is interrupted by a sick Laura, whom they discover has a rather…unusual attachment to her books.

Hi dear I hope I'm not bothering you but I was scrolling again through your fics and was wondering if you're up to continue Two Worlds or (specially) August 9th 1973, I really miss you writing Johnica and those fics really had me hooked 🤧 I hope you're doing well! Miss you in general tbh ahah

Hello there, thank you so much for this ask! it's very sweet (and encouraging) that you're letting me know you're interested in my writing and seeing more of what I've started.

If I'm being very honest I can't see me continuing Two Worlds any time soon – perhaps maybe possibly in blurb/note form? or a series of summaries? Basically I have the idea of it in my head as being more like something scripted (almost as though timed to fit the songs?) so that's a super fiddly thing to get right with the pacing -- plus I find narrative prose so unwieldy to grapple with anyway that it feels like it would be a bit of a battle to complete. (My old writing tutor once said that some types of writing come intuitively to him whilst others feel more "costly" -- well, as it stands this project would be almost peak costliness for me and rn I just don't have it in me chief 😬😆😭)

Now Aug 73 on the other hand -- you're in luck there, because I'm much more likely to continue this. I even have a significant portion of it written! I still have the problem of dealing with narrative prose and its unwieldiness because there's lots of physical actions I want to describe (wahey) but I do think it will happen. I'll have another look at it soon :))) I am also so determined to write a surreal and smutty dream fic that's been kicking around in my brain for well over a year now -- and I'd like to add it to the johnica week collection when I eventually produce it -- but I'll manage expectations for now and say that's a future project.

Thank you again for the message, I do miss interacting on here. I lurk sometimes, but increasingly I have a bit of a mental block towards the idea of cheerful posting because of some unhappy things going on in my irl life. It's hard to get past that mental block -- and I often can't -- so then interaction gets more difficult. Perhaps I'll try to get back to queuing posts, I think that might help ❤️
